Hi Benihana, and crew, What film or other story would you have liked to see some sort of epilogue for given that it does not warrant a sequel what so ever. My example is Gravity, rewatched it this weekend after the Challenger Netflix documentary and it got me wondering about what aftermath an incident like that would have created. Some press conference Blu-Ray extra scene would have been interesting but that world doesn't really need extended lore etc. Thanks.

Ben O'Donnell

What IP would you like Microsoft to focus on bringing back from Bethesda/id Software? The obvious answer: Commander Keen. But what about Brink, Wet or Rogue Warrior?

Chris Logan

Ben and the 'horts, let's talk controllers for just a second. Specifically, the joy-cons. They rank low in comfort, are riddled with tech issues, and seem pricey for what you get. They're one of the worst controllers in gaming, yet the Switch sells extremely well. Which begs the question: does controller quality matter?

Infinite

Good Morrow friends. I picked up Hades a few days ago on a complete whim, as I am not at all a rouge like/lite fan. I’ve never come across one that’s truly embedded itself in my heart. That said, I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME. The characters, the combat, the writing, the loop, they’re all extremely satisfying and a blast to play. My question, have you all ever taken a flier on a game that eventually made you fall in love with a Genre that you’d previously not enjoyed?

Donnie

Hey friends! I have a game sort of (probably doesn’t count). Since Microsoft has purchased the Zenimax studios they now have a healthy dose of 1st party characters. This OF COURSE means they can now make their own Smash Bros game. You can add a character from each 1st party Microsoft studio. Here are 10 of them to help: 343 Industries Double Fine Ninja Theory Obsidian Arkane id Studios Bethesda Studios Playground Games Mojang The Coalition

Hi everyone! Quick thoughts on Bethesda acquisition. Would it not behoove Microsoft to release Bethesda games on PS5 while still adding the recent acquisitions' properties to Gamepass? Seems like they wouldn't want to leave a cut of the hardware leader's revenue from sales off the table, and it would be great free advertising for Gamepass: "Buy on PlayStation if you want to, or play with Gamepass for free." Either way, they get a cut. Seems best for everyone, no? Also, Mary, we demand Simone-cam.

James Smith

Hey Ben and the Tamriel Trotters, How long until Skyrim comes to Xbox next gen? Best guess.

Leafeonn (Josh K)

Sup cohorts Cake vs Pie is a pretty alright debate but we're all missing out on the biggest, most iconic food debate of all time: Apples vs. Oranges. The ultimate showdown. Which do you prefer, 🍎 or 🍊? I personally prefer apples. Apple juice is better than orange juice, apple pie is better than orange cake, and eating the pure fruit of an apple is just more enjoyable than peeling an orange. The term "apples and oranges" does not make sense to me because apples are obviously superior. What say you, cohorts? Is it just apples and oranges? Are they equal? Should they be compared? Or is one objectively better and should we finally lay this expression to rest? If so, what should the new expression be, "Nintendo and PC"? Your friend, Leafeon

Sandshrewd

What new fun and creative ways will Todd Howard get us to buy Skyrim now that Microsoft owns Bethesda? Integrated into Powerpoint? On the Bing homepage?

BBK

Just want to say, I am obsessed with Hades. As someone who has never been super into rogue-like games (despite trying a couple), this one basically had me hooked instantly, and it's the first one I've "cleared." Looking forward to clearing it several more times because every run moves the great story forward, and every interaction with the wonderful cast of characters is simply a joy to behold. Fantastic work by Supergiant games. If it wasn't for The Last of Us Part II this year, this would probably be my GOTY so far. To anyone on the fence, if the words "rogue-like" put you off in any way, I still wholeheartedly recommend giving this game a shot. There is so much great stuff going on.

DrVaider

Yo ben and friends. Do you think there is a chance for VR support on Xbox next gen?

Brenton and Meriam

Hey all, Hows about a non-Bethesda related question? The first time I saw a black and white movie as a young kid, my mom explained that older movies weren’t in color. I took this to mean that as a VHS physically aged, it lost its color and became black and white. I started checking our various tapes and realized it must be true when one of my parents’ movies went from black and white to color as I fast forward through it! As it turns out, it was The Wizard of Oz. But I though the beginning of the movie had already undergone the change, and I was very scared that MY favorite movies could be next! Any childhood misunderstandings from your lives you’d care to share? Well wishes from New Hampshire!

Andrew Holmes

Let's try that again... Hey CLCs after playing elite dangerous in VR with the modded motion controls support it made me realise that its just a totally different experiance than the 2D version. what games would you like to see adapted fully into VR? (like the hitman 3 mode)

Hello Benn and Cohorts With the recent news of Microsoft acquiring Bethesda I was surprised but then I read all the comments and tweets at Obsidian asking about New Vagas 2. I realized that this could be an opportunity for IP shuffling. I feel like this may be a great chance to revitalize some IPs that Bethesda may have well either shelfed or in the case of Fallout wreaked. The 3 big IPs I’m thinking of are Prey Dishonored and Fallout. Prey needs a new life. The game was great but it didn’t find its place. Dishonored has a great world but would maybe do better as a 3rd person action rpg. Fallout needs new everything new setting, new direction, new studio. What dead or abused Bethesda IP would you like to see shanken up with a new direction and what team should make it?

Peter Gallagher

Hello MinnMaxers (MinnMax her? I hardly know her), A few months ago, I was listening to the MinnMax show podcast when Ben recommended the Orange La Croix beverage as, “the best drink in the world”. As a lover of all things orange, Ben effectively forced my hand and I made my way to a local convenience store the next day. I was very excited at the prospect of a new, healthier alternative to soda, but when I cracked the can and had my first couple of sips, I was struck with disappointment. The Orange La Croix tastes like a bad, watered down, and flat orange soda. Although I still trust Ben, I can’t help but wonder if the whole thing was a ruse to trick me. But anyway, this experience begs the question, what is the worst recommendation you have ever received from someone? Feel free to provide the story of you acting on the recommendation. - non gaming answers encouraged, but not required

What are the chances that Nintendo ever makes a Mario game with a number in the title again and outside of Odyssey 2 what name would you be most exited for?

Mack Dack

Nintendo is not always conventional. They answered other battle royales with Tetris 99 and Mario 35. They created a shooter in Splatoon. Do you think Nintendo would ever create a “games as a service” title and if so what franchise would fit that mold best?

Crayter

Hey there CLCs, With all this next gen, 4k, raytraced, instant loading SSD hype, i just wanna know: What do you think is next in store for nintendo's use of cardboard enhanced gaming?

Hunter Sax

Ron Funches has been on Beastcast more than once, Ron Funches knows Dan Ryckert. How many phone calls away do you think you are from Ron Funches being a guest? Let's make some moves. P.S. Cities Without People by Jacob Geller is an incredible video.

Hi Ben and fellow Maxers! I've been enjoying the heck out of thps 1+2. It's bringing back a ton of fond memories as well as creating new ones. I was playing the other night and a curious thought popped into my head. Is this game actually a platformer? Think about it, you make your way around levels collecting items all the while making jumps onto specific platforms to collect items in order to advance throughout the game. The process of playing through the levels gave me similar vibes of collecting stars in super mario 64. In mario 64, you navigate through levels, some have timed challenges, doing trick jumps to finish levels faster, similar to finding skate routes throughout thps levels. I'm sure I can think of more comparisons but i'll leave that up to you guys. So what do you think, can thps be considered a platformer? Noah D. From Los Angeles

Colin Perkins

Hey MinnMax, It was fun watching Leo and JeffM play a little Star Renegades on stream this week! I saw it on Gamepass a few weeks ago and decided to dabble. It's effectively hooked me and I'm so glad I gave it a shot. What's a game that you all had just intended on a quick dabble based on a little buzz, but ended up sinking a ton of hours into? Colin Perkins St. Paul, MN

Lachie James

Who would win in a battle royale out of the following categories: -Fast food mascots -Junk food mascots -Classic literature characters (let's say any book prior to 1940) -Cleaning product mascots -Animal mascots (from any brand) -Each of the cohorts grandma's (if they've already passed [my condolences] they come back in their nanna prime time)

Sincerly, Eric

Hey there MinnMax crew. (Quick P.S. at the top for Ben, can you give us your review of the Jurassic Park show coming to Netflix next Month?) We already know who wins with Toaster Strudels versus Poptarts. Ben was clearly wrong about the Pie choice, but that was decided as well. However, I want know some more classics from you all if that's okay. Bugs Bunny versus Mickey Mouse Pepsi Versus Coca-Cola Digimon Versus Pokemon Spring Versus Fall Marvel Versus DC Up Versus Down Dog Versus Cat (My Wife wanted me to add Bacon Versus Bacon) Thank you all.

Joseph Melin

Was Mixer a Sacrifice to the Bethesda gods?

Hey Pre-ordinos! These last two weeks have been a mess with all the pre-orders. Nvidia, Sony, and Microsoft all released their highly sought new gear, with what seemed a very limited stock. This lead to a lot of people not being able to get their hands on them, especially the majority of the new GPUs seemingly going to bots. What would be a good way to remedy this? I like the way Bungie does it. Add the item to the store with an absurd cost, like $99,999, and then sign up for chance to receive a promo code with your PSN, Xbox Live, Geforce account to bring it down to it's actual price. This would only work on the first party stores though, unless they could somehow partner up with retailers online. Any ideas on how they could tackle this in the future or will this never be fixed as they only care about selling the product and not who it goes to?

Trevor Corbin

Hello, Minions! As a huge Halo fan, if you guys mention one more time that Microsoft should reboot the Halo continuity, I will be forced to cancel my Patreon support. Alternatively, I am willing to double my support if I receive an apology. Thank you.

UmamiUnagi

JeffM mentioned on the show last week that he wants to play a game where you live in a bandit camp rather than clearing them out all the time. My question for him is: has he heard of a game called Red Dead Redemption 2?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey friends, watching the Ubisoft Forward I got very excited for Immortals Fenyx Rising. Which is surprising because I am in the very small camp of people who are "eh" about Breath of the Wild and don't really care much for the game. Why then, am I incredibly excited for Fenyx Rising since the parallels are so obvious? Has this ever happened to any of you?

BeatenDownBrian

Hey Ben, and console pre-order loving cohorts. What do you think are the five most played games ever? I'm not talking about best selling, but the the 5 games played by the most amount of individual people.

MickManga

I hope all you computer loving cohorts are doing well. With Mario 35 only being apparently available until March I have a question. Are you interested in playing a game that you know will disappear after a short period of time? At first I really didn't like the idea and I am still not crazy about it. But I am becoming more intrigued by the concept and even find it a little exciting.

Sean Mason

Hey Guys! Looking back at my childhood, I had many influences in my life, but the most influential person I would say would be my 7th grade ELA teacher, Mr. Banks. Before having him, I didn't realize how passionate I was about reading and writing. He introduced me to a litany of texts that steered me in the direction of many of my all-time favorite books. He had a massive influence on my decision to become a teacher and, low and behold; I teach the same grade and subject as him. One of my goals as a teacher is to make a difference in someone's life, just as Mr. Banks did for me. That brings me to my question; looking back at your childhood, who do you think inspired you most to get into the video game industry? Love the show, Sean Mason

TommenDotGif

Hi friends The Zenimax news is obviously the talk of the town this week. I was wondering what your thoughts are regarding the long term implications of the acquisition. The success of the ps4 allowed Sony to spring for the big budget single player games they are known for like TLoU 2, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, and Spider-man. Do you think if Microsoft is able to grab a significant portion of their playerbase, that the number of blockbusters Sony is able to put out will decrease? It seems like this could create a domino effect for Sony that could see them in a very precarious position by the end of next gen, especially if Microsoft continues bolstering game pass, since Sony doesn't have nearly the same cash to burn. I love the games Sony invested in this gen and I would be disheartened to see them fall by the wayside. Keep on keepin on

Fred Dinovo

Howdy group, Well preorders are finally over we are safe ... until the next Nintendo system comes out. So let's predict when we are going to have to go through this all again. When do you think the Nintendo successor (not midway upgrade) is coming out? Thanks! Fred

AnAttackCorgi

Hi all! What 2020 game most accurately represents 2020 in reality? Also just to put the Microsoft/ZeniMax acquisition into context, here's a table of all the $1b+ transactions in gaming history (@Hanson, you could turn this into a game by having the panel guess the acquisitions, amount, year, etc but I'm not sure how fun that'd be, up to you. Or have them guess what the other big acquisition this year was, 'cause I never heard of Peak or the story about Zynga buying them out): Tencent Supercell 2016 8,600,000,000 Microsoft ZeniMax Media 2020 7,500,000,000 Activision Blizzard King 2015 5,900,000,000 Microsoft Mojang 2014 2,500,000,000 Facebook Oculus VR 2014 2,000,000,000 Zynga Peak 2020 1,800,000,000 Bandai Namco 2005 1,700,000,000 EDIT: After looking into it, Peak is a Turkish mobile app company that developed only two apps: Toon Blast and Toy Blast, which combined rake in 12million daily active users. I guess I didn't hear about it because Peak mostly caters to an audience outside of the US.

What is your current GOTY and why is it Hades?

Quick Devil May Cry question for Suriel: On a scale from Dismal to Smokin' Sexy Style, how do you rate Vergil's new theme music?

What do you think a star from Mario feels like? Solid like a stone? Fragile and glassy like a gem? Soft and plushy? Warm to the touch? Cold and sterile? The world needs to know!

Does anyone know how PS4 to PS5 upgrades will work? I have a base PS4. If I put in my FF7 remake disc, will the game upgrade to PS4 pro graphics (4K)? I ask because Yakuza: Like a Dragon releases around 11/12 and I’m getting a PS4 physical copy. The developers said a PS5 version will be announced at a future date. I also heard a rumor, only digital copies of games will be “upgradable” if the developer wills it. So does that mean all PS4 disc owners are out of luck even if they are eligible for a next gen upgrade? Has Sony not answered these questions or did I miss a press release?

Jason Wojnar

Hi Pals, did you ever pee your pants as a kid because you were playing video games and were either too into the action or it was multiplayer and you knew an older relative or sibling would unpause it while you were away taking care of business? If not, then I totally never did either.

Jordan Edmond

Hello you CLCs, this question may be kind of a downer but I would really appreciate your advice. I just found out that I'm getting laid off this friday and thought you guys could help since most of you already made it through a similar situation. This was my first real job out of college and I moved several states away from home for it. My spirits are high and I'm still supporting you guys but could use some help picturing what comes next when the paychecks stop.

Keenan Horrell

Hello CLCs, I have a simple question. Has Nintendo announced any first party games for this holiday season that isn't a remaster or rerelease? They've had multiple partner showcases but nothing new coming from them. Remasters are cool and all but, in my opinion, Nintendo hasn't announced anything truly exciting for this year.

James K

Now that both the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X pre-orders have gone live, looking back do you think there was anything that either Sony or Microsoft could have done better to make the process smoother for consumers, especially in light of the Covid-19 situation that we all live in? People seem to be very upset across social media, but I can't help but think if you're only option to pre-order something is on a website, and millions of people visit that site at the same time, there are going to be problems. Is it possible to head that off? Also, is there anything that can be done about the bots that allegedly buy up so many of the pre-orders?

Rickfromatlanta

Hey all, who is your favorite or most surprising celebrity guest voice in a game, is it Michael Ironside, Mickey Rourke? Mine would be Eliza Dushku in wet. What a weird appearance that was. Thanks for all you do.

Rickfromatlanta

Two quick questions for Mary. What is your favorite just dance song to dance to and which horror game have you recently played that you absolutely loved?

Brent Woodroof

I am way more frustrated than any rational adult should be about Final Fantasy XVI turning into Devil May Cry-lite, though it seems that this is generally being celebrated. When was the last time that your opinion was so divorced from the gaming consensus that you felt like you were taking crazy pills?

Tim Lorow

I’ve been playing a whole lot of Hades lately and I continue to be shocked by the amount of story content that is in that game. It keeps me running more and more to unravel more short dialogs with the colorful characters. Story is newly being used to propel many genres these days from MyPlayer modes in sports titles to roguelikes. What’s genre would benefit the most from leaning on story more? Battle royales? Hero shooters? Tetris?

Zachary Sweet

Hey MinnMax, Geoff Keighley recently announced that The Game Awards will take place on Dec. 10th. He also tweeted that no nomination deadline has been set which is a big deal because of Cyberpunk 2077. Do you think Cyberpunk should be included in this years game awards? My argument is no because you wouldn't be giving the jury and the public an adequate amount of time to play and digest the game. Curious on the panels thoughts because people on Twitter seem to completely disagree with me.
