Hi Cohortians, Why do Sony and Microsoft run next-gen commercials when demand outweighs supply, isn't that just a waste of money? Chris Jimenez

Austin S

With Election Day happening today, what has been the most stressful and hardest in game decision?

Ben Shively

Hey, gang! I’ve never been as divided on a game as I am on Watch Dogs Legion, and for some reason I have to wait until the end of November because I bought the physical ps5 version. I really enjoyed the first two but something about the lack of a central protagonist is turning me away. Am I alone in this/should I care about this game? Have you ever been torn on a game like this?

IanTClark

I downloaded and played the Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity demo last week. I must say that I was very impressed and my expectations were more than exceeded. I have seen and heard a lot of outlets complaining about frame rate issues. I never really notice stuff like that. Is that because I’ve been playing games since 1985 and my brain filters out performance drops because it just expects them to happen? What is wrong with me, am I dying?

whitemex

If you guys were a crew like the A-team or the Fast Familia, what do you think your roles would be?

Chris Logan

Hey Ben and the 'Horts, my comment is in the interest of "getting better." About 3 years ago I made a simple change in the language I use that has greatly impacted my mental well being. The core of the change is replacing "I'm sorry" with "thank you." An example would be instead of "I'm sorry I'm late" try "Thank you for waiting for me." While there is of course appropriate times to say I'm sorry, many of us use it as a crutch and feel too comfortable putting ourselves down to ease a situation. Instead, these can be opportunities to lift someone else. Don't say "I'm sorry I'm so scatterbrained," say "thank you for accepting me as I am." When you express positivity, your own spirits are lifted along with those you're speaking with.

beetlehorn

Greetings, MinnMax crew! I personally found with RDR2, TLOU2, and other games I was excited for, that hearing stories about crunch beforehand severely impacts my hype for said game. Have recent reports hampered your enthusiasm for Cyberpunk at all? If not, was there ever a time where doing a cover story or getting a look behind the scenes impacted your hype levels negatively?

Doreen Ford

I've been reading Beloved by Toni Morrison and wondering what literature has really inspired y'all in your life? What book has made a big impact on the way y'all see your life or the lives of others? Hope y'all are doing OK in these wild time.

Luke Siuty

Hi MinnMaxers, This is probably mostly directed at Suriel, but I'm finding myself pretty disappointed with Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition. Feels like a cash grab or a rush to release on new consoles, because other than Vergil, there really isn't anything else than what I would wish for from an SE: more story content, Lady/Trish playable, ability to do co-op in Bloody Palace, someone even made a PVP mod. Basically, it feels like modders have done more for this game than the developers, what do you think? Woocash

Ricky Coogan

If you could be recruited by DedSec in Watch Dogs: Legion, what bonus perk or special item would you bring to the team?

Chris Lopez

Hello Ben and the Cohorts! What do you think are some games that would have reached more of their potential if they had just been pushed to the next generation rather than be released at the end of a current generation? I think Cyberpunk is a good current example, but what are some other games from the past that would have benefited from being pushed? Thanks!

Dylan Drazek

Hey there ya minimum maximizers ( it sounded wrong right when I typed it)! I know next-gen is the thing right now and discussion around it is frequent and deep. However, I wanted to shift focus a little. I’ve always had a thing for games that force me into a machine-like focus known as the zone. Games like Tetris and guitar hero (once you get the hang of it). But I was wondering, what is your ultimate zone-focused game and why is it Tetris? Get as specific as you want within a franchise if needed. Thanks y’all!

Tyler Sticka

Hello, Ben and friends! After deciding not to purchase a next-gen console this year, I thought it would be fun to treat an old console I hadn't fully appreciated as if it were new to me to help fight off any lingering sense of FOMO. For me, that meant finding the controller for the PlayStation 3 I've been using as a Blu-ray player and firing up the Jak and Daxter Collection for the first time. Having a blast so far! Is there an old console or platform you slept on a bit at the time but think you'd enjoy revisiting with fresh eyes?

JTDenton

Hello, Benny and the Cohorts! Is there any game for which you think you might genuinely be its biggest fan? For instance, while I like Overwatch a lot, it's a popular game and I'm there are many people who like it more than I do. However, it's a lot more possible that I *might* be the world's biggest fan of Deus Ex: Invisible War, a game that seems to get trashed by basically everyone, but which I genuinely really enjoyed over multiple playthroughs. Are there any similar games that spring to mind for you? What are you the world's biggest fan of? (Obviously ranking how much of a fan you are or aren't is a little silly, but I thought it was a fun hypothetical way to frame the question!)

Jonathan Fenn

Hey Minnmaxers, I've got a simple question for you: Mario or Zelda? Which is more influential? More enjoyable? If you had to pick one series to never play again, which would it be? Discuss! Jonathan from Nottingham

Leafeonn (Josh K)

Hello Ben and the CLCs, If you had to work for any game developer, who would you work for and (granted you had the skills for it) what position would you want? Would you be a programmer at Naughty Dog? Level designer at Insomniac? Writer for Rockstar? HR at Ubisoft? CEO of Gearbox? To push this a little further, would you want to work somewhere in a specific era? Imagine being a programmer at Nintendo during the early 90s or a level designer for Naughty Dog during the Crash Bandicoot days. The gaming industry is truly your oyster. Thanks, Your pal Leafeon, AKA imeanleafeon

Hunter Sax

Simple question. What's your favorite Mario noise? I'm partial to the "oooh, yeah" when ever you return to the observatory in Mario Galaxy.

Brian Lyness

Hi Ben & the CLC's! I simply want to know what each of you think is the most under appreciated game of this generation? It can be something that flew completely under the radar or a game that you think didn't receive the praise it deserved. Mine would be Thronebreaker: A Witchers Tale. A true gem that didn't get the recognition it deserved. It uses a version of Gwent that is far superior to The Witcher 3's as the battle system & for puzzles. The story is epic, the characters full of personality, writing is excellent, the voice acting is second to none with special mention the narrator. It took me 56 hours to complete & I was hooked start to finish. If no one has played it I nominate Suriel :p Keep up the great work! Thanks Brian Lyness

Noah D.

Hi Ben and Cohorts! I have a fun little game for ya'll which I like to call "NPC says what!?" Rules are simple. Below are hypothetical lines of dialogue from NPC's. Based on the line of dialogue, you need to guess which game/ franchise the NPC is from. Good luck! "He duel wields now!? Run away!" - Halo 2 "Man, that guy sure likes his fungi" - Any Mario game "Not again! That's my third car this week!" - GTA "this plan sucks" - Red Dead 2 "Why is that guy racing against my Ferrari in a Warthog?" - Forza Horizon 4 "Man, that lady really hates robots"- Horizon Zero Dawn "Who puts a chainsaw on their gun!? Honestly!" - Gears of War "Where did this guy come from? And why is he so angry?" - God of War (2018) "Where did your face go!?" - AC: Unity "Why does that kid need to repeatedly save the princess? Isn't he tired of it yet?" - Zelda "What are those green lights? Hope it's not dangerous." - Splinter Cell All the best, Noah D.

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! Simply question this week. How are you all doing?

PandaHandz

Hello Patronees! With the release of Watchdogs Legion and the futuristic leap Ubisoft has made with the franchise. Where does Watchdogs go now? Same time period new city? Far far future in space and new planets? I would love to see Ubisof make a Matrix title with all the open world and world building know-how they have. BTW what happened to that Avatar game they announced? Love PandaHandz, (P.S. a group of pandas is called an embarrassment)

Tim Lorow

Now that we have passed the spooky Halloween season of gaming... what games are perfect for the Thanksgiving season? My picks are Hades (Zagreus is the prince of sappy appreciation), Resident Evil 7 (for its dramatic family dinners), or any Madden game

Tyler Ross

Howdy Horts! Given the gravitas regarding of the election this week I figured we could all benefit from some silly and lighthearted debate around a video game president. So imagine with me, you live in a video game world with all of the video game characters to ever exist. This is a fictional world with fictional problems, so naturally your biggest concerns are things like enjoying yourself and making sure you can defend yourself from the Goomba army. Who do you want to be your leader? Do you pick someone like Crash Bandicoot because it’ll be a box-breaking good time? Or do you pick someone like Link who offers the stoic resolve to lead your defenses? Thanks for being a bright spot in my week! T

Faraaz

Hi Suriel! What did you think of avatar the last air bender? Thanks Far as Sydney

James Smith

Hey Ben and the Bandicoots, How do you like your steak?

Andrew Burnes

Hanson, you definitely deserve props for correctly predicting Bethesda's purchase earlier this year. However, about two years ago both you and Kyle made a much more dubious prediction: that Stadia would be more successful than PS5 by March 2021. Now that we're a week away from the PS5's launch and seeing where Stadia is in the market, would you perhaps like to renege on that prediction? Receipt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfCb2rwguWY Predictions begin at 18:40.

Cade Mead

Hello, Suriel specifically, You might've heard that GG Accent Core has added GGPO rollback netcode to its beta version. You might also have heard that the concurrent players on steam briefly surpassed the FGC current mainstays. Is it safe to get my hopes up for a fighting game renaissance now, or will devs continue to ignore the benefits of good netcode?

Tanios A Bou Onk

Hello, Podcast crew. Having played Watch Dogs: Legion I felt that the game was a good proof of concept, but that it felt rushed and incomplete. The idea of playing as any NPC in the game convinced me to buy it and I’ve had a lot of fun recruiting people. But it feels like characters are sorted into one of two categories: (1) Average NPCs that could have really varied designs but lack special skills, or (2) special NPCs you get from borough clearing missions that tend to have more uniform designs and a lot of skills. I think there’s room to grow here and let you customize each character more, maybe give the characters with no innate skills the ability to earn skills through an XP system, just a thought. Also the story feels like it wasn’t really built for the team dynamic they were going for. It feels like the developers just didn’t know what to do with a protagonist and decided on recruitable NPCs late. That’s just my two cents, but I’m curious about what you think.

Fabled Ursa

Hello friends! Last weeks game demo conversation got me wondering: Is there a game demo that won you over and got you to buy a game? I played the demo for Time Splitters 2 back in the day, not knowing anything about the series, and it totally blew me away. I definitely miss the demo disk days, but at least some companies are still putting a little teaser of their wares out there for the world to try. Catch ya later!

Mike Sweet

Hey crew! If you could be a fly on the wall for any conversation relating to video game history, what would it be? This could be an initial pitch meeting, a deal being made, the talk of canceling a game, etc. Thanks!

John Utke

Hello everybody. As a kid I skipped Resident Evil because I thought it was a bit of a (forgive me) "meathead game". I learned I was wrong around the time RE4 came out or so, but I never went back and played the originals. Until now that is, for Halloween I played through the PS1 Director's Cut and it was glorious. It was a bit janky and had probably the worst voice acting I've ever heard, but the pacing, level design, and puzzles were all excellent. So my question is, have you ever gone back to an older game and realized your preconceived notions were completely wrong? Any favorites that you skipped at first glance, only to realize later what you were missing out on?

Matt McKenna

Hey all! My question is pretty simple but what’s one game you absolutely love but have never seen credits on or properly “beaten”?

Sincerly, Eric

With Yakuza coming out as a Turn Based JRPG, I think it'll be the first in the series that I try as Turn Base games are my current preference. It had me wondering, is there a Series that you would prefer, or would like to see in a different genre. For instance, Hades as some sort of 3rd Person Action Game. Bioshock as a real time strategy game. I'm sure you guys have better examples, but let me know what you think or would like to see.

Jeeo Banogy

Ahoy Cohorts! Is there a game out there that has a system or mechanic that you so thoroughly enjoy that you're willing to overlook other aspects of the game just to experience? So far I'm having a lot of fun with Watch Dogs: Legion! I find the ability to recruit literally any NPC, or rather PPC (Possible Playable Character), to be pretty neat! It seems like the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor turned to 11! However, I can't help but feel the generic Ubisoft Open World activity and gameplay loop looming beyond the horizon and threatening to bore me. For now, it isn't too hard to look past and enjoy! Hope you spent less time in those voting lines than I did!

MickManga

Not really a question but more of an interesting oddity. Earth Defense Force 5 originally was rated M two years. It was a digital only release which meant a quicker review process. Anyway last week PQube released it a physical release just last week and that brings with it a more through review from the esrb review and... It's now rated T, it's bizarre but this is the first time I have seen a game's rating lowered. I thought you guys might get a kick from this.

Ziyon Gonzalez

Elllo Cohorts, So when I was younger till about high school I was not able to play video games at all until the weekend. Just a cruel rule placed on me by my parents I was wondering if your guys’ parents did anything similar?

Unpatched Gaming

Hey MinnMax crew, We are curious about what some of your favorite silly strategies are some of your favorite games. Some that come to mind for us are completely dominating Fire Emblem Awakening exclusively with beautiful pegasus knights; setting up decoy circles in MGS5; and trying for the bonkers pacifist assimilation victory with Elinor of Aquitain in Civ6!

BlakJak

Hey Ben and friends! What's a good gift for a ten year anniversary? Mine is next week, and we are going to do a fancy dinner and we don't normally do presents outside of birthdays and christmas.. but I want to do something kind of special! Any suggestions??

Eric Seal

Hey MinnMax, I just wanted to give a shout-out to Ana for your show Refreshed! The topics are diverse and fascinating, you bring on super knowledgeable guests, and I look forward to every episode. It rules.

Dante B

Hey fam! What's your favorite game manual? I know manuals are a relic of the past, but I have fond memories of some. Some were often pretty elaborate, especially big box PC games. Would often take them to school to kill time. Some of mine include Final Fantasy 7 (the thing was beautiful, full color and like 70 pages!), any of the Blizzard games and Ultima Online.

The Diddler

How do you feel about “dailies” in a lot of these current video games? I feel they are getting pretty annoying. I don’t even play Genshin Impact, haven’t played since the first week, yet I often log in to just get my daily rewards.

Hi friends, I managed to preorder a PS5 with almost no problem in Ukraine. I say almost because although there was no rush or risk of them selling out immediately, it was one of the weirdest/worst customer service experiences I ever had. It started when the website would not accept my card, so I called up the store and asked them if I could pay with cash in person, the clerk said I have to call administration and immediately hung up before I could ask for the number. When I called back, they proceeded to pick up and hang up the phone numerous times (probably about ten in all), even one time letting the call go without actually talking for about thirty second before hanging up again. After finding the number myself I learn I can indeed do this, and when I go to preorder it in person the workers are simply baffled by the idea of preordering a console instead of waiting for it to come out (more funny than an example of bad customer service). I had to tell them I was quite aware when the system was coming out and I knew I had to wait until November 19th. All of these exchanges were in Ukrainian as well (though the clerk might have been speaking Russian). This brings me to my question for the panel, what are some of the most ridiculously hilarious or horrible customer service experiences you've had in game stores?

WadeLee

Hello Ben and the CLC's! Hope y'all are staying in high spirits in these tumultuous times. So I know everyone is bummed out by the delay of Cyberpunk 2077, but fortunately the physical edition of the Tabletop RPG Cyberpunk Red is still set to release right around November 19th. I currently have it pre-ordered and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival so I can run a game with my friends. So my question is: Does anyone at the panel plan on playing Cyberpunk Red? Additionally: What are some other TTRPG's that you folks would recommend that others play? My suggestion would be Corvus Belli: Infinity. It's a fun, easy to pick up and play game that takes place roughly 400 years in the future. It has some fantasy elements to it but is very much a sci-fi D&D style game. Thanks so much for all the great content!

Rich McLaughlin

With the attention given to back-compat for the new systems, is it time to finally get rid of the old systems collecting dust in the closet? I'm never going to hook up the original Xbox again, right? Right?! Or will I instantly regret it? What's your take on keeping old systems forever?

Fred Dinovo

Howdy crew! What franchise across any media do you think has the best names?  My money is on Star Wars, there's just something about their naming convention. Mace Windu , Mara Jade, Jek Porkins,  Kit Fisto  They are unique names that makes you acknowledge "yeah that's a Star Wars name"

Rickfromatlanta

What does it take for you to subscribe to a channel on YouTube? Are you subscribed to hundreds or a select few channels? What makes you unsubscribe from a channel?

Do you have multiple copies of the same game? If so what do you have the most of and on which platforms? I have owned RE4 on Gamecube, PS2, Wii, PS3, PS4, and Switch. I have Dark Souls on PS3, 360 (without the DLC), PS4, and Switch. I really wish publishers would just let you transfer your license to another platform for a nominal fee.

Donnie

Hey friends! What’s been your favorite go-to meal during quarantine? I wish I could say I’ve taken the time to learn how to cook, but it’s so much easier to order from this noodle place right up the road. I get the spaghetti with too much garlic bread and I’m happy every time.

God's Garage

What's the best game no one's ever heard of? Mine is probably Lego Racers for the PS1, a super fun kart racer with the ability to build your own kart, and had a really cool mechanic where certain shortcuts were tied to specific powerups (i.e. you could only bring down a power grid if you had the lightning powerup) . It's also the only game my mom has ever been into
