Hey MinnMaximillions! If it were not pandemic times what one video game character would you want to assist in a Black Friday shopping quest to get gifts for everyone on your holiday list? Would you go more brute force with a Kratos, something a little more sneaky like a Solid Snake? Who is your go to for getting that impossibly hard to get gift? Happy Thanksgiving all!

Judah Bailey

Hey Cohorts, Off the top of your head, what is your favorite setpiece in a video game?

Doreen Ford

Two things just in case your "Nintendo 2020" touches on this: 1) What do you think of the The Big House controversy? Personally, I think it's a huge marketing mistake despite whatever legal authority Nintendo has. There's also no realistic way to determine if anyone owns illegal copies and the idea they'd somehow lose their copyright is not realistic (just look at Sonic which has encouraged fan-made games to the point of making some of them work on the official games!) and almost never happens and certainly wouldn't for Nintendo. 2) With the mishmash of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors - Age of Calamity we've seen a mixing of a game and a popular genre. What are other popular games mixed with popular genres you enjoy? What would be ones you'd still like to see?

Forest Lassman

Hey everyone, I've been in quarantine for a few weeks and want to thank you for helping me get through the boredom as I listen to old episodes. With Yakuza working so well as a JRPG, what series would you like to see shift genres?

John Utke

Hey all, how do you deal with negativity in your gamer group? All I hear from my friends now is how the new Assasin's Creed formula sucks, Hades is overpriced, Phasmaphobia looks like cheap garbage, etc. I don't really interact with people in real life anymore, so my online groups are all that I really have, but it just feels like such a blackhole of negativity that I don't really even want to talk to them. But I need to talk to someone in this time of isolation. Do you have any tips to steer conversation into a more positive outlook? I'm not against critique, but I just want to enjoy games and talk about them. Everything seems so cynical in a virtual world.

Dru Marcus

Now that you’ve had time with both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which one do you think would benefit more from a redesign? What iterations would you like to see from both in the next 3 or 4 years?

Chris Lopez

Hello Ben and the Cohorts! Happy Thanksgiving week!
Do you ever feel like your character is short in height in a first person shooter? I get the feeling sometimes that the scale is slightly off and that I’m just plain short in the the particular game world that I’m in. Not sure if anyone else notices it or feels that way. Thanks!

Bryan Tylec

Hi folks, This question is mostly for Jeff 'em!!! but I guess everyone can answer it if you have an opinion. On a scale of nine to ten, how excited are you for a new Hero Quest game?

Clint Farley

Video Game SFX Trivia! Hey MinnMax crew, hope you’re all doing well. So this time around I figured instead of music we could do some video game sound effects. You don’t have to be specific you can just name the game franchise since I’m sure the effects are used across multiple entries. Just like last month my Patreon pledge will be based on the number you get right ($10 per answer, unless dropping it puts you below 15k). I think this should be a pretty easy one, but we'll see. Hear me out. Xbox and Playstation exclusives swap. Xbox's strategy is to allow players to play anywhere. With their recent acquisition of Zenimax, could they work out a deal with Playstation to allow say Elder Scrolls VI on PlayStation in return for the next Spiderman on Xbox? I think it would be a cool way to align their strategy with their new suite of future first party games. Thoughts? Which swaps would you like to see from a strategic perspective?

How do you as game journalists reconcile your personal experiences with games (playing most major releases, having to cram them in whenever you get time, dealing with lots of similar games coming out as trends come and go) with how most consumers experience them (getting only a few major releases a year, maybe waiting months or even years before buying a new game)? I wonder if people who cover games for their job are perhaps more jaded about repetitive or "samey" games, and more receptive to games that do something different or challenge them in a unique way.

Matt Lynch

It’s been a long and stressful year. Everyday there’s more bad news, but I just wanted to hear your honest thoughts on everything that has transpired over the last couple months. The slow decline of an American institution into chaos and shame. That’s right, I’m talking about the Taco Bell menu. Gone is the Mexican pizza, gone is most of the dollar menu, gone are half of the combos, gone are all the potato items. What the hell happened and to put this into a question what’s your go to order?

Tim Lorow

I’ve been playing AC Origins and digging through podcast archives to get some accompanying content. One thing that sticks out is the games that are widely covered and immediately forgotten. Here are a few examples from the headlines of 2017: - SNES Classic - Breath of the Wild DLC - Metal Gear Survive - Castlevania Anime - Yooka-Laylee Just a reminder of how fleeting the game news cycle can be...

Ryan Inderlied

We've all heard a lot about what the best games of the last generation were. What do you guys think the best games of the current generation will be? Bonus points if you can make a prediction on a new IP.

Kyle Silva

This has been a great week for me, solely because of the announcement of Neo: The World Ends With You. The game is making the revolutionary transition of being a 2D Action JRPG into a 3D Action JRPG. I still love seeing games convert from 2D to 3D I'd like to know what 2D games you want to see get the third dimension? Earthbound? Kirby? Stardew Valley? Give it to us!

Preston Willke

What video game rumor were you all in on believing? How bummed were you when it turned out to be fake? Mine is probably that Brink would be a good game. Also I'm still not sure if pressing B next to that truck in Pokemon did anything...

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts! I've recently jumped back into Destiny 2, and I've really been missing something from Destiny 1. There was a limited time mode called the Sparrow Racing League that Bungie has unfortunately never brought to Destiny 2. Is there a mode or limited event from an older game in a series that you'd like to see in current or future installments? Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

IanTClark

I’m most likely one of the biggest Zelda fans in the MinnMax community, There is of course no way to know for sure, but based on the discord, this is a safe assumption. I’ve been playing a lot of Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. I’m having a ton of fun, but I get why others may have issue with some of the story elements. It’s very difficult to explain why without spoiling anything. One thing for certainly is that prequels are difficult to do well. Can you name any that have done a good job in the video game Universe?

Chris Logan

I've kicked my soda habit after finally trying sparkling water. Sure hope Bubly is paying you guys ad money.

AnAttackCorgi

Good tidings y'all! With AC Valhalla getting a physical version of Orlog, what's a mini-game you'd want to see ported to real life? (Or vice-versa if that's more interesting). Also, Thanksgiving...overrated, just right or underrated?

Fred Dinovo

Howdy crew! What franchise across any media do you think has the best name-style? My money is on Star Wars, there's just something about their naming convention. Mace Windu , Mara Jade, Jek Porkins, Kit Fisto, Dash Rendar They are unique names that makes you acknowledge "yeah that's a Star Wars name"

Jeeo Banogy

Ahoy there MinnMax Crew! I just managed to hit credits in Watch Dogs: Legion! Leo: still pretty into the game or are you satisfied with what you have played with so far? Honestly, this feels like a game that I did not need to finish, especially since I was playing it to really mess with the "Play anyone" system of the game. Were there some games that you didn't feel the need to finish after playing for a while, or does everyone generally feel the need to finish a game strongly enough to see credits? Hope you guys have a fantastic Turkey Day!

Mark Ramirez

Hey Ben & the crew, The northernmost point of the Continental US question in MinnFAQs peaked my curiosity. I found an article that says it is Minnesota, it’s just you can’t reach t land/town from the US. You have to drive through Canada and loop back around to reach this little patch of US owned land. So Ben, you can live with pride for your northernmost state. Here’s the article - https://amateurtraveler.com/the-northernmost-spot-in-the-48-contiguous-u-s-states-the-northwest-angle-in-minnesota/

Jaketrix

Hey Ben Solo and the MinnMaxdalorians, Lots of appearances in The Mandalorian from all kinds of celebrities. Which late celebrity would you like to see in The Mandalorian or Star Wars if they were still with us today. I would love to have seen Vincent Price in Star Wars.

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! I want to say that I am very thankful for Minnmax and the community that has sprung up around it. Because of what you all started, I’ve met a lot of great people over the last year plus and have had tons of fun conversing and playing games with them. In a normal year, that would be great, but in 2020 it’s been extra special. Anyway, enough of the sappy stuff. I want to hear everyone’s best turkey impression!

Alex B

Hey there, cohorts! I was wondering if any of you have had a chance to watch the G4 Reunion Special? What did you think? With G4 coming back next year in some capacity, do you think it has a place in the current gaming landscape?

Doctorok

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Celebrating will be different this year, but I can't help but think of all the awesome food we usually have at family gatherings. Specifically, I think about the non-traditional shrimp and crawfish dishes that my uncle cooks each year. What are your favorite non-standard Thanksgiving family foods?

Phil Crifo

Hey folks! Do we know what Bruce Straley is up to? He tweets a lot about games so he obviously has love for the industry despite stepping down from Naughty Dog. Do you think he will come back? If so, how and where? Also a little gossip: Him and Neil Druckman don’t follow each other on tweeter 🤭

Previously on The MinnMaxShow... You woke up in a forest, with no memory of how you got there, with empty pockets and daylight running out. Upon finding a deep, dark, perfectly round hole with a wooden ladder, you decided to go. down. that. hole. You descend down into the darkness, your bare feet less and visible with every rung. The piercing cries of the unusual bird overhead are nothing but a memory now. Eventually you reach the bottom of the ladder. You step down into a thick, sticky ooze that goes up to your ankles. You see a dim light ahead of you, and head towards it. You are able to keep walking in the ooze, but it's exhausting. Suddenly, a hand grabs you by the shoulder. You turn around. It's your husband, Arnold. "DENISE!" He cries, hugging you close, tears streaming from his eyes. "I never thought I'd see you again." Something seems different about him, but you can't put your finger on it. "Listen, I can explain everything," he says. "But first, I need you to lie down in the ooze. Do you trust me?" Do you: - Run back to the ladder - Run to the dim light ahead - Lie. In. The. Ooze.

Alex Montgomery

Hey MinnMax Crew! Been a fan of everything you guys have done since GI and finally decided to support your Patreon. I have a question for the group: Do you have any advice for someone about to stream some gameplay for the first time? What was your first time like and what did you learn from it? I ask because I'm planning on hosting a stream for Cyberpunk when it comes out. I don't have a webcam or capture card, so it'll be just my voice and the game. It'll be my first stream and I'd appreciate any input you all might have. Thanks everyone and hope you have a great holiday.

BlakJak

Hey Ben and friends, Back in 2018 there was an episode of the GI Show: "Our 10 Favorite Games". Here is Leo's list: 10. Rainbow Six Siege 9. Rock Band 3 8. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist 7. Tony Hawk's American Wasteland 6. Heat Signature 5. Rocket League 4. The Last of Us 3. Spelunky 2. Tabletop Simulator 1. Hitman Thanks for keeping it real Leo!

Sincerly, Eric

Hey Jefferina and the MinnMax crew! Which Disney Princess is you alls favorite? I'm thankful for you all, have a great week!

The Krispy Kreme Lemur

Hi Ben and the Crew, Video game historians agree: the light-gun game genre peaked with the Wii. According to Wikipedia’s article “List of Gun Games” there were 23 light gun shooters released on the console, with entries from high profile series including: “Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles”, “Dead Space: Extraction” and Steven Spielberg’s visionary “Boom Blox Bash Party”. I for one loved this trend. Light-gun games are easy to pick up and play and are great for couch co-op with non-gamer friends. Its curious to me then, with the gyro control enabled Switch tearing up sales charts, that the light-gun game renaissance seems resoundingly dead. Why do you folks think developers are no longer making on-rails shooters and light-gun games in such high numbers? Am I crazy to want to see the genre return to grace?

Aidan Walker

Hi, in reference to last week's 'whats the name of the parrot' question - when I was animating the intro I called her SquimCrax - an unholy amalgamation of the words squawk, Minnmax, and crackers. I have a crude drawing in my notebook indicating this if you're interested. Bye!

Hi LeanaBenjajeff, What is the best way for RPG's to handle fighting enemies that are a much lower level than you? I'm currently playing through Yakuza Like A Dragon. First off, it's a great game. But I'm at a point now where fights against some low level enemies in the overworld have turned into me jamming on the basic attack command to get the fight over with. The enemies do single digit damage and reward only a tiny bit of XP, so the fights are practically useless. What do you think is the best way for RPG's to handle this situation? Many linear RPG's solve it by not letting you go back to previous levels and their weaker enemies. But what about open word games? Like a Dragon does have an "auto-battle" mode but this doesn't make the battles any quicker or more exciting - it just means I don't have to press the attack button as much. Other games have enemies scale with your level, but this means players may never feel like their characters are growing. In other game, enemies just run away from you when you are too high level. What do you think is the best way for RPG's to handle fights with relatively low level enemies?

About a month ago, the Sonic the Hedgehog twitter account posted a photo of super sonic from SA2 with the number “3” discretely hidden in his face. This caused an uproar in the community. Back in January, Sega said they’d have a sonic announcement every month for the entire year. Circumstances allowed them to back-pedal on that promise without too many people noticing. Are you anticipating Sonic Adventure 3 reveal soon, or is my soul being toyed with for no apparent reason? Thanks!!! <3

PhillyYeetSteak

Buckle up, everyone, because we are deep in soup season. Whats your favorite soups? Are you into breadbowls? Do you pair a sandwich for dippin'? Gimmie your soup deets!

The Diddler

Mortal Kombat 11 has been “killing” it with its additional content. The skins from the first movie are awesome (and if the leaks are true, and they appear to be, the content coming up is going to blow some people’s minds) My question to everyone; If you could replace a MK character with your voice and likeness, which character would you replace? Also for fun, what would be some of your intro dialogue/ win quotes? If you want to have even more fun, describe your fatality and / or friendship. (Maybe the YouTube gods and would put the hammer down if you described fatalities, so it’s up to you)

Hans Kleinenberg

I got a PS3, the fat model, back in 2007. I had it until 2016, so for about 9 years, in which I used it a lot. Yet it took me 13 years, until I saw a gameplay video of Astro's Playroom a couple of weeks ago, to find out the left side on the front could open up to reveal a couple of card reader slots. I never knew. Has there ever been a hardware feature you were completely oblivious to until way too late?

Gabe Brandolino

Hey Ben and CLCs, Simple question, what is your favorite type of cheese?

Hugo Aguilar

Hey MinnMax crew Whenever I listen to the Majula theme from Dark Souls 2, it reminds of where I was in life, like my old apartment, my old job. Just stuff going on in life when I was playing DS2. What’s a video game song that brings back memories when you hear it.

MickManga

The Bugsnax ending completely caught me off guard. I didn't see it coming. So without any spoilers what game endings blew your mind?

Sean Mason

Hey gorgeous people! Absolutely loving my PS5 console experience so far and I hope everyone listening and you boys are too. Just wanted to state my mind and get your opinions on the marketing leading up to the release of both the XSX and PS5. Personally, I don't understand why you would purchase an XSX at the moment unless you're a hard core XBOX gamer. There feels nothing new or exciting about the console other than its improved performance. I understand thats there approach to this generation, however I feel this will result in a lack of desire for the product from consumers who game on other platforms. Additionally, up until the release, media outlets and influencers received the the console so far in advance that there was no mystery or intrigue leading up to launch, it honestly felt like the console had been released in October! This was the polar opposite for Playstation, with questions still being unanswered until launch. You could argue that this was frustrating for gamers who had purchased a $500 console, however this kept the conversation going unlike the XSX. My question is, how do you guys feel about the launch and lead-up to these consoles and how do you think the market will respond in the long-run? Thanks for everything, keep doing an awesome job!

Erkie

Gobble gobble, MinnMax crew. Although I’m not a big fan of the musou style of games, I’ve been enjoying the heck out of hyrule warriors age of calamity and i think it probably has to do with how much I love the IP of Zelda. This got me to thinking, what other IPs would make a great musou style game? My pick would be for a musou game using Final Fantasy characters

Woodman

Hey gamers. I have a distinct memory of sitting down with my Dad to play Star Fox and Super Mario World on SNES. Those memories are gold and molded me into a lifelong gamer. What is the first game you want to play with your kid(s) as they come of age? Not necessarily just what you think is the most appropriate - but the one you just can't wait to share with them. The one you hope will be magical for them. Thanks! Have a safe and sleepy Thanksgiving.

Devin Rardin

Hey Ben, what season of Survivor is your favorite and who is your favorite player? Thanks!

AnAttackCorgi

Hello CLCs! What's your most useless talent? Cheers, AnAttackCorgi

Greg Lovell

Hi cohorts! Ben, you mentioned on MinnFAQs that numbers weren't great for the deepest dive on Miles Morales. For what it's worth, I'm in the UK so got my day one PS5 on 19 November. I didn't want to play on PS4 (because, of course!), so I couldn't join in due to timings. I'm sure your audience is majority N America, but even there, I wonder if people wanted to mess about with the new system for a bit rather than really commit to one game. I love deepest dive (TLOU2 in particular) and am saving it for when I finish toying with things - Demon's Souls, Astro etc - and really settle into PS5 gaming. Anyway, just a thought. I imagine there are plenty of people for whom the dive came a little early. Cheers, Greg
