It's been weeks since the launch of the new consoles, and they're old news. It's time to look towards the future of gaming! So my question is, what are the new features you're most looking forward to on the Playstation 6 and the Xbox Series Y?

BEEFCAKE

New law! You have to have a theme song that plays every time you enter a room, everyone can hear it. What do you choose?

Clint Farley

The Two Tens Music Trivia. Hey MinnMax crew hope you all had a good New Year. It’s been a while since I’ve submitted music trivia and this time it won’t be tied to any tier on Patreon as I’m just staying at $50 (Discord doesn’t like it when you do custom pledges). I thought I’d make things easy and pick music from games that were on the Two Tens list. Enjoy! Hades - https://youtu.be/cVukkhUI-xM Ghost of Tsushima - https://youtu.be/ueRpihDmk8c Assassin’s Creed Valhalla - https://youtu.be/qr6DxeGSfR8?t=86 (this one is timestamped to get to the best part) The Last of Us Part II - https://youtu.be/B_xV09zlB8U Yakuza: Like a Dragon - https://youtu.be/cHuRaPrFozc Watch Dogs Legion - https://youtu.be/OnMcV1VnbW8 Crash Bandicoot 4 - https://youtu.be/66_cct85Kdk Ori and the Will of the Wisps - https://youtu.be/0jvqbFZiWqE Final Fantasy 7 Remake - https://youtu.be/RR5ipvfsJ94

I have a fubar laptop that I've never used to play games but I tried Among Us & Kentucky Route Zero on it recently and they ran like a dreeeeeeam. What other PC games with low system requirements would you recommend?

Crayter

With the recent realization that Stardew Valley violated the Geneva convention, what other seeming innocent and adorable games do you think have commited unknown atrocities and what are they?

Thomas

The most out-of-this-world gaming experience of the year for sure was The Outer Worlds. Never finished but that first hour where you’re just desperately trying to piece together disparate planets and if it all ties together… the best experience of the year. Followed by Fuser, which I think is Harmonix getting it back after the amplitude remake’s soundtrack didn’t exactly speak to me

Scott Castro

Hey Ben, Ana, Leo, and JeffM, Happy New Year to you! With a new year comes a new hype cycle, so I'm curious... What piece of vaporware, if you knew for sure it were coming out in 2021, would you be most excited about? I'm not talking about games like Breath of the Wild 2, I'm talking about games that we saw at E3 years ago and have not been heard from since. Mine would be The Artful Escape, which I think was originally called The Artful Escape of Francis Vendetti. That game just looks like a hella cool musical platformer like the best levels in Rayman Legends. Thanks as always for all you do to make this the best community and best gaming podcast around!

Hi Ben and the Cohorts! Do you remember that old argument; resources spent on multiplayer development takes resources from the singe player campaign development? Same argument but the misplaced resources are spent on actors from movies and tv. Did CD Projeckt Red spend more money on Keanu compared to a normal game actor? Would Cyberpunk have been that 1% better, if they didn’t have to pay a premium for Keanu. Would Death Stranding’s gameplay been better if they didn’t concentrate on such big names? Did destiny 1 pay Dinklage a premium and could that money have been used some where else in the game Make our own celebrities! We don’t want these phonies from the movies!

Ben Shively

Here is a question that has been weighing on all of our minds for over long years. In 2024, what will they call Madden? Madden 25 was already a thing in 2013 to celebrate its 25th anniversary, so what will they do? Will kids get the PS4 launch title for Christmas rather than the 2024 version?

Tim Lorow

How much YouTube do you watch over normal television?

Woj Jed

Hello Colon Loving Cohorts, cell phones have changed a lot over the years. For the younger crowd, they weren't always just touchscreens, we used to have Flip phones, Sidekicks, phones with controllers in them (Sony Xperia). What phone was your favorite? -Voy

Congrats on a fantastic game of the year and awards discussion. The MinnMax crew approaches things with a collective and inclusive approach. It’s greatly valued in the gaming community. MinnMax is the best gaming show/community on the internet. Period. Recording those epic sessions takes a lot of dedication, focus, and patience. You have to be on for a long periods of time. It’s not as simple as “having a discussion” as format and pace need to be considered. It can be exhausting! How do you feel after longer podcasting/streaming/recording sessions and what do you do to “come down”? Or are you just wiped out and instantly collapse? I’m sure adding in meetings on top of the recordings must make for a lot of mental energy in a pandemic world.

Happy New Year Minnmax Crew! 2020 saw the return of some great franchises including Streets of Rage and Crash Bandicoot. What franchise would you like to see return in 2021 and what would you like to see improved?

Strange Sloth

What did you do for New Years? I got wasted with my chooms irl. We went to the snow and played chess. You guys like tubing or sledding in Minnesota?

henrik mortensen

Hello? I got a challenge for you. Try mentioning a game you have never mentioned on the Minnmax show and say something nice about it. Not a game you have not talked about, but a game you never mentioned at all. Never uttered the words of that title. Mine is Breath of the wild. Hate your show.

Hermes

Which remake is most likely to be MinnMax’s 2021 GOTY?

Shakenbake67

Hi MinnMaxers, with the surprise announcement of the Callisto Protocol being set in the PUBG universe, that got me thinking. What would be your dream genre game set in an already existing universe? Personally I would love a 4X game set in the Mass Effect universe before the events of Mass Effect 1. What are yours?

Wesley Freeman

Hey MinnMax just wanted to thank yall for all the great content this past year. I'm a home health nurse in Mississippi and the drives between patient's houses this year was made better by yall, especially on such a tough year on the nursing field for obvious reasons. My question is: has your personal game of the year ever been snubbed by most outlets. My personal game of the year of 2020 was Nioh 2, which was basically forgotten about, and 2019 was FE: Three Houses which was praised in some circles but not taken serious as a GOTY contender. Keep up the great content.

Pretty Good Printing

What is the weirdest or most accidental way you've been introduced to a specific piece of media? When we were little, my brother and I would wake up early every day to watch Jonny Quest before school. One day, instead of Jonny Quest, it was Pokemon S1E1. We had no idea what it was and went in completely blind. We ended up loving it and stuck with it and then obviously got into the cards and games and everything. I never knew why, but the channel we had would play up until the episode when Charmander evolved and then start back at episode 1, it was the worst!

Christian Jimenez

Not a question but a big shout-out to Ana for her holiday special segment in the "How To" style, just watched that show based on her praise and it is something special. Her segment was really unexpected and deserves lots of praise for sticking the landing.

Travis Manick

Hello Ben and the Not-Bens (hold for applause), Final Fantasy 7 Remake has gotten one patch, and it was in October, 6 months after the game came out. The same way that we talk about games like Assassins Creed and Cyberpunk for being famously broken, is there any way we can give a shout out to huge scale games that seemingly get it right? Obviously there are differences in size/scope/production/etc but you can't deny that FF7R was a big game, and it has run fantastic since day 1. Thanks, Manick_T

Hello, CLCs. Long-time listener, first-time supporter writing in. I’m a 29-year-old engineer, and for a long time, video games have played a large role in my life. As a new father, I’m finding that my list of responsibilities continues to grow at a rate that is outpaced only by the number of new games that are coming out every year - and that’s only counting the games I’m interested in. My backlog is growing at an alarming rate, but there’s something about me that just can’t give up games, despite several factors in my life telling me to stop. In short, I am currently struggling with the role video games have in my life, so much so, that I can’t even distill my concerns down to just one question. That being said, this will be the first of several (hopefully) thoughtful questions I wanted to ask you all in order to help me get out of this funk. With all that out of the way, here’s my first submission: Would any of you say you are currently, or have ever been addicted to video games? Am I addicted to video games? If so, how would I know?

DJ Tommy Pizza

Heyo CLCs, I've been getting back in to Halo through the Master Chief Collection on PC and have been going through my old custom game settings to get some of my favorite variants. Things like 400% speed, 50% gravity, andno weapons except gravity hammers was always a friend favorite back in the day. What's some of your favorite custom or built-in multiplayer configurations? Slappers only, Tommy K (DJ Tommy Pizza)

Donnie

Hi friends! What’s the biggest personal project you’ve worked on? I’m currently writing my first novel. I’ve written a prologue and the first 25 chapters. I have another 25 to write and maybe an epilogue. I’ve never been so invested in anything I’ve done in my life like I am with this book.

Tactical Dreamer

Hello Ben and friends, Important science question for you. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Switch cartridge? Thanks, Tactical Dreamer

Danny Yorkus

MinnMaxers! I have some statistics for you guys from 2020! Here are the stats for how many of your Get a Load of This segments counted by each of you declaring "Get a load of this". Suriel had 11/32 (34%) (tsk tsk) Ana had 8/15 (53%) Leo had 6/11 (55%) Kyle had 21/35 (60%) Ben had 36/49 (73%) JeffM had 36/36 for a whopping 100%!!! Even being sleep deprived towards the end of the year JeffM is the official GALOT King!!! I've been listening since the GI days and love all of your work. You guys are really killing it and Leo and Ana are awesome additions to the group!

Hunter Sax

Hey Hi Hello Who/what would be a good candidate for a Guerilla Games Horizon Zero dawn moment? Upcoming Fable could be promising?

Grizzled Gaming

Happy new year, gang! Ben, tell JeffM Grizzled Gaming says "hello". He'll know what it means. I asked this question last year when Elise, Javy, and JeffM were on and it was great hearing their sincere, heartfelt answers. This year I’d love to hear the rest of the crew’s answers. This time of year is about getting better and self-reflection, that said, who has been the most influential person in your career up to this point?

Sincerly, Eric

This year I want to tackle one of the most challenging things anyone can do. Beat. Persona 5 Royal. Does Ana have advice on how to get through that juggernaut of a game? Likewise, what are some of everyones tips for making it through long games and seeing them to the end?

Orryn Echols

Happy new year cohorts, I gotta somber one for ya guys, Do you have any old friends that stick out, that you still reminiscence about? And if they were tuning in now, what would you say to them?

Jake Z

Are you a gameplay variety person or a core mechanic person? Do you prefer games that are really good at one particular thing, like combat, or that mix it up with combat, puzzles, mini games, etc.?

Austin Hellings

Happy New Year to the MinnMax crew! Imagine that you've created a computer program that's able to do all of the leg work for you in developing a video game. All that you have to do is select a combination of different forms of established media (video games, movies/TV shows, books, etc.) and out pops a brand new, unique game consisting of the best aspects of each. What two or three games, books, or movies/TV shows would you use to create the new IP of your dreams? One of the choices has to be a video game. For example one possible combination I would choose is Nier: Automata, Samurai Champloo, and The Other Guys. Stylized buddy comedy romp set in the Edo period with sweet tunes, tight combat, and laughs for days? Yes please! All the best!

Felix davin

Hey everyone. Does any of you make music in your private little time ? Be it electronic, rock or experimental ? Do you secretly want to release an album someday ? Cheers.

Gigglesby

Perfect dark Howdy there CLCs! So it’s been a couple weeks now, but as the internet speculated, Microsoft's new QUAD A studio, The Initiative, is working on a Perfect Dark reboot. While I must admit I was hoping to see a new IP from that studio, I am willing to give Perfect Dark a chance. I know Hanson is excited, as I could hear his squeal all the way down here in Tampa, but I don’t know the first thing about the series. Can y’all give us the full rundown of what makes these games special? Is it the art style? The FPS mechanics? What is the plot of these dang games anyway? Thanks guys, you are the best $2 I spend every month!

Michael Moran

What's a specific compliment you received that has always stuck with you?

Justin Ray

Awesome Games Done Quick is going on this week and in honor of it I have a little game. All of these games and categories are being run at Awesome Games Done Quick 2021. Here are five pairs of games and their speedrun category and you must determine which world record is faster (according to speedrun.com) Final Fantasy VII on PC - Any% (1h 51m 32s) or Pokemon Blue - Catch 'Em All (1h 34 m 38s) Crash Bandicoot N Sain Trilogy Crash 1 any% (49 m 33s) or Spyro Reignited Trilogy: Spyro 3 year of the dragon Any% (59 m 39s) Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Any% No PBC (1h 42m 08s) or Startropics any% (1 h 03m 34s) Divinity Original Sin 2 Any% Current Patch (17m 40s) or Dragon Age: Origins Any% (39m 56s) Zelda Majoras Mask Any% (24m 26s) or Zelda A link to the past All Dungeons (50 m 07s)

I was wondering if it was possible to play the old opening and closing jingle to kick off a new year of MinnMax?

The Krispy Kreme Lemur

Hi Ben and the CLCs, What game do you think has the largest difference between the amount of time you have spent playing it and the amount of time you have spent discussing it? Either a short game that can be discussed for hours or a long game which doesn’t present much reason for in depth discussion would work here. Love the show, Keep it up 😊

Zach Killian

Hello Minnmax! In 2020 I played a few games I never played before but they did not come out in 2020. One of my favorites was Judgement. What is your favorite game you played in 2020 for the first time, but the game did not come out in 2020? Happy New Year! Zach

Brian W

What’s your favorite Gen 1 Pokémon? Now that we have that figured out, throw one of each persons favorite in a battle royale! Who wins?

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey yalls! Judging by your two tens deliberations, it seems like you pretty much all agree that Spider-Man Miles Morales benefitted from being a shorter, more focused experience. How would you feel about playstation doing this "short and sweet" approach with their upcoming games, like god of war or horizon: forbidden west? I dont see any numbers at the end of the titles, after all!

Jaketrix

Ben Kenobi and the MinnMaxdalorians, What is the bad game or below average game from previous generations that you could not resist buying for a modern platform? Maybe it wasn't bad when it first released. Maybe it was just an average game that hasn't aged well over time. But that nostalgia is just too hard to resist today. For me? It would probably be Mobile Suit Gundam: Journey to Jaburo (PS2). Thanks for all that you do! Be safe!

James Smith

Hey Handstand and the Cartwheel Carnivores, You've talked previously about what a nightmare the game of the year discussions at GI were. But could you walk us through that process some more? How did the staff eventually reach an agreement? Did one person just cave, or did Andy have to step in often?

Christopher Reardon

Hey folks! Ana, I'm curious to know if you've beaten Final Fantasy VII: Remake yet? If so, would you knowledge having beaten it change your feeling about it as GOTY? Kyle's argument against it seemed to hinge on the ending.

The Diddler

Do you think all PS4/Xbox One games should have a free upgrade if a next gen version is available? I feel games like The Last of Us 2, Red Dead 2, and FF7 remake will eventually get next gen upgrades, but I don't think they will be free upgrades. I'll pay for a next gen upgrade if its a proper upgrade (like Spider-man remaster), but I feel that I'm in the minority on this issue. Sooner or later, companies will stop offering their next gen upgrades for free due to the time it will take for some of these upgrades. Maybe God of War, Horizon, FF7 Remake, and Last of Us 2 will get PS5 versions at $40 price point. And I think the internet will rage for a couple weeks.

MyDogIsHip

Hi MinnMaxers! First-timer here :) I really enjoyed your recent video of museum directors reacting to museums in games. I'm an architect and I often find myself thinking about architecture & buildings in video games. From the monumental bureau in Control to the detail depicted in Last of Us 2 - level design and architecture in video games can be closely related. Level designers have a lot of freedom compared to buildings in the real world. In games, buildings can do miraculous things like change shape, but they also don't need to deal with technical constraints like fire code or with budget when designing spaces. What are some of your favorite architecture and urban spaces in games? Are there buildings or interiors or cityscapes in games that have stuck with you or inspired you?

Greetings Cheek Inspectors! I got an Oculus Quest 2 for Christmas and as someone who’s never tried VR, this has been the single biggest “I’m living in the future” moment I’ve ever experienced. It’s literally like I am inside of a video game—I’m basically in my childhood fantasy dream world of Spy Kids 3-D and Code Lyoko. My parents haven’t been able to play video games since the Wii because of the controllers. My mom put on the VR headset and within seconds she had it figured out and was up to speed, playing ping pong and dancing with robots. Before I left I saw her browsing the Oculus store on her phone. I’ve never even seen her play a game on her phone, yet now she’s asking my dad to split a Quest 2 between themselves for Valentines Day! Am I crazy!? Is this not the futuristic kind of tech we used to dream about!!? It’s already here, right now! Every time I put the headset on I still feel kinda like I’m jacking into the Matrix. Why isn’t everyone else freaking out!?! Is it just my honeymoon hype? Why isn’t VR more popular? Starting with Respawn, will 2021 finally be the year of studios making AAA quality/budget VR games? Respect and Love, Y’all

Joel Kost

Greetings Benjamin and others, How would you describe your dream gaming setup? My wife and I are looking at houses, and my mind is swirling with ideas of how to set up a gaming space now that we'll have more room. Personally, I want to be able to have a spot for more than one person to sit and game with. Thanks and happy gaming! Joel Kost (silvaf0x)

Joshua

Hi everyone, I have been going pretty much all digital in the last couple years in my ps4's lifespan. I now have a ps5 and have felt compelled to only buy discs since I have such limited hard drive space. So you think there will be a resurgence in physical copy sales for the ps5 due to this? Though I guess it depends on how many disc vs digital versions were sold.

Adam DuBois

Hello Ben and the Beloved Believers of Bensville, my frustration with how games design inv mngmnt (cyberpunk) encourages me to take extended break between plays. Just the simple ability to tag and item as “junk” would really speed up the process of selling all those frickin guns I collect. Furthermore, when selling items why not just have a “sell all” option? Selling food is extremely time consuming. I have two of 100 items and I gave to choose the item, scroll to two, then confirm sell. Ugh, this is probably a question o should’ve directed at the deepest dive for cyberpunk but it’s common enough in other games. Anyways, love the show and the crew! Keep it up!
