I know it’s not related to music, but my only topic request is any sort of comment on the future of Idle Thumbs and Important if True. Even just a brief mention! Those podcasts are sorely missed!

My question is are there any songs that are you a sucker for when it comes to covers even if they maybe aren’t great. One for me that sticks out Knockin’ on Heavens Door. I will even rock the Guns n Roses version. Also for end of show speaking of covers. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2JyQKSociLQ

I love Blue Oyster Cult so much, and Secret Treaties is something I can play on repeat forever. I got into BOC because of Metallica's cover of "Astronomy" and haven't regretted it ever. Well, there is one regret, as I alluded to in the Discord channel a while back, I have missed seeing BOC whenever they tour. One time was a family trip that took us through the town they were playing in at the time they were playing. The worst/best was me getting home from work, walking up to my apartment and hearing them playing. I checked my phone and they happened to be playing a concert in the parking lot of a mall we lived by. Sort of a summer concert series the mall hosted. They were opening for someone, and I was hearing BOC close out their set. At this point it is a sort of running gag that I will never see them live. Also, just for fun, here is link to the Imaginos version of Astronomy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY7h4VEd_Wk

Graceland was always on at my house growing up. My mom loved it. I couldn't stand it. Now its a curiosity to me and I appreciate it more now BUT! I love Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the South African vocal group Paul Simon recorded "Homeless" with. I saw them live in 2009ish and it was such an amazing concert.

https://youtu.be/RKGkAq0bGXw The Limbs- Bad Anna. The Limbs us a one-man band from Denver. As good as this is, check out the video. His performance of this song is amazing to watch live

What's the difference between good pop music and bad pop music? For me it's the formulaic stuff that sounds like everything else is bad, but if it brings something good and surprising, then it's good. Song: Therefore I Am by Billie Eilish

Hey Matt and Chris! My suggested song this week is Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNMR5MCpYGU This song means a lot to me, it keeps me inspired and hopeful whenever I hear it. I would say it is the closest a song has ever come to a "religious experience." In keeping with that theme, are there any songs that have affected you in such a way? One that gave (or gives) you a "religious experience" or some moment of realization/understanding? Thank you, keep up all of both of you guys' great work! P.S. Chris, please bring back Idle Thumbs whenever you all can. I miss hearing all of you!

My question for today is are there any live versions of songs so good that it almost ruins the original studio recording? I think the live version of 10th Avenue Freeze Out and Lost In The Flood from Bruce Springsteen's Hammersmith Odeon London 1975 record absolutely eclipse the studio versions in just about every possible way. Same goes for my recommendation for this week; Tattoos Fade by the World/Inferno Friendship Society from the Live At Northsix album. I will say the different tempo and more haphazard guitar solo still make the original recording worth listening to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6oiZLoAzmk

This is one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. I’m mostly recommending it because it’s so different from most of what you’ve played on the show in the past. I’ve always loved the imagery in their lyrics and the variety of instruments they use on their albums. https://youtu.be/xhrCTPOft_A

I know this is a basic question but do each of you see yourself as more Simon or Garfunkel?

Matt, Jason, and Chris, We all know songs can bring back powerful memories, but sometimes certain songs can bring back feelings we'd rather not revisit. I remember listening to "The Heart Collector" by Nevermore over and over when I found out my parents were getting divorced. It's a great song and I love it, but it's hard to listen to anymore without bringing back those negative feelings. Have you ever had success in reprogramming your brain to not associate a song you enjoy with negative emotions after a situation like that? Really looking forward to the BÖC discussion and learning about Graceland! Anyways, here's Wonderwall... I mean "The Heart Collector." https://youtu.be/5cqaXTek_-U

Hello, are there any songs that are intrinsically tied to their music videos for you, so much so that when you hear the song that you can't help but picture or "watch" the video play in your head? For me, one prominent example is The Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up". I would normally link the video here but it appears to be banned from YouTube lol.

Hey y'all. You are Mario in New Donk City. Mayor Pauline has just sent you to recruit a guitarist, dummer, bassist, and saxophonist (or any brass player) to kick off the nights festivities. Who are the famous members who will be making up your quartet and sticking it to Bowser?

Mike Lynch

Is anyone else getting a Van Halen vibe from Blue Oyster Cult? This is my 1st time listening to them beyond the hits and Eric Bloom sounds like a precursor to David Lee Roth. I also hear Michael Anthony background vocals

This is the best podcast I've listened to in quite a while thank you so much. It was so great to hear Chris (I am/was a huge Idle Thumbs/ Important if True fan). Two giant thumbs up!
