Disneyland has 4 original lands. Fantasyland, Frontier Land, Adventure Land, and Tomorrowland. (I am not including Main Street USA - don’t come at me Disney fans). You are responsible for making a Video Game theme park. What are your four lands? Are they based on different genres, companies, characters, or styles?

Do any of you own any modded game boys with a backlit ips screen or the like? If so what generation, and color schemes did you guys go with. I recently had a gameboy color rebuilt by Sean at FoxRetroGaming on Etsy. It has an all white shell with a green d pad , pink A button, and purple B button. All of which are backlit. It’s still in the mail, but super happy with the aesthetics.

What video game would make for the best Broadway musical adaptation?

Joe Holaska

My birthday is this week, and it always brings back the memory of the time I wasted a $50 gift card back in 2001 picking up Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage on N64. Evidently that game has a small, but passionate fanbase. I personally hated it for numerous reasons, one of which is Nintendo Power really hyped it up as an almost Final Fantasy-level game for the largely RPG-less N64. Anyway, my question: have any of you guys ever instantly felt like you wasted a gift card on a game purchase? Thanks for all the great content! Joe

Bethesda used to have a real quality to its name but in recent years has gotten more and more (deserved IMO) flack for its games. What a studio you can think of that has had the opposite of this trajectory? A studio or dev team that started up really rough but keeps putting out great content in the last few years.

Hi MinnMax! My question this week is for Leo. Now that Hitman 3 has been out for a while, the time has come to decide. You once said that every level in Hitman is better than every level in every other game. Which level from the Hitman trilogy is the best Hitman level? Bonus Question: Did you ever try out Watchdogs Legion's multiplayer? If so, did it live up to the hype? MinnMax you later, cohorts? ... Thomas Deranek Kansas City, KS

Hello Cohorts! A few weeks ago, Ben was talking about his Pile of Shame - games you've never beat, but probably should. It made me wonder, what's on the top of your Pile of Shame for games you've started multiple times, but never beat? At the risk of being permanently banned from the Discord, I think mine is Final Fantasy VII... Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Fred Dinovo

Howdy, Do any of y'all have any petty pet peeves with games? I reckon' mine is RPGs when you level up and your HP/MP do not max out. (I'm looking at you Bravely Default 2) Y'all come back now ya'hear Fred

Is the best quote from Kenneth in 30 Rock “Die Hero Cat, I hate you!” Or is it “Bird Internet”?

Chris H

Hey Cohorts! It’s time to play everybody’s favorite game, that’s right we’re playing “Lord of the Rings Chapter ” OR “In-Universe Skyrim Novel”! The rules are simple, for each name you simply must decide whether the title is that of a chapter from LOTR, or that of an in-game Skyrim Book Q: A Conspiracy Unmasked A: LOTR – Fellowship of the Ring Q: A Knife in the Dark A: LOTR - Fellowship Q: Fire and Darkness A: Skyrim Novel Q: Flotsam and Jetsam A: LOTR- The Two Towers Q: Purloined Shadows A: Skyrim Q: Magic From the Sky A: Skyrim Q: The Forbidden Pool A: LOTR – Two Towers Q: The Five Far Stars A: Skyrim Q: Many Partings A: LOTR – Return of the King Q: The Red Kitchen Reader A: Skyrim

Hello all, So, is it me or is the was Microsoft has handled the purchase of Bethesda really strange and an existential harbinger of a corporate dystopia? Who puts out a trailer for purchasing something, honestly? Can I put out a trailer for the sandwich I’m gonna buy for lunch? I have a good beat for it. In all seriousness, am I wrong for finding this whole situation distressing?

Patrick H.

Hello all, I had a question about cross-over content between publishers. I'm playing through Final Fantasy 15 again (I'm an unapologetic fan), and I had forgotten about all this Assassin's Creed-related content in game. I also remember the AC:Origins mission that featured Ardyn, and I thought that was so awesome and out of left field. Has there been any other major cross-publisher content? (besides Smash of course) If so, whats been the best? Any cool/crazy ideas for future cross-overs?

RickyWinterborn

why do a lot of game informer/game journalists eventually move into PR? i assume it's for a more reliable career, but are there more reasons? just curious

Hello Ben and the 'horts, here's a game I call Fresh Tomatoes. Very simple, for each pair of movies, can you guess which has the highest score on Rotten Tomatoes? All are certified fresh, and there's at least a 10 point difference between them. Here we go: Speed or Braveheart Avatar or Dumb and Dumber Batman Begins or Batman '89 Forrest Gump or The Shawshank Redemption Source Code or X-men Final Destination 5 or Schindler's List Answers in reply!

What is a game that you want to have played, but don't want to actually go through playing it?

Caleb Straker

Hey everyone! I've recently been playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Online and have witnessed the lengths to which people go to win. Often this entails swerving across the entire road just to try and hit someone with a star power-up. On this note of unrelenting cruelty, what memories do you have of people going to any extent to win in a multiplayer game, whether it be online or local? Keep up the great content!

Interrotta

Hello Ben, Jeff, Leo, and Javy. If you could open up any video game themed bed and breakfast, what video game series would you use?

Chris Gillar

Hi Ben, Jeff, Leo, and Javy, What is your favorite piece of environmental storytelling in a Bethesda game?

Marc Levender

Hey Ben and Fren(s)! My question is similar to Tyler C’s, I was thinking about Super Nintendo World’s recent opening in Japan, and was wondering if you could similarly choose one developer to create their own theme park, which developer would you pick? Or which games world would you most like to see given the theme park treatment?

Finlay

What is your best thrift shop find?

Samuel Stanton

Hey Minnmaxians! With the success of the Nintendo Switch, particularly in the last year, I can't help but wonder what features will be added to a Switch Pro. Wireless headphones? Bluetooth? 4k support? What are your predictions as "sure thing" additions? and What would you love to see added but consider unlikely? Love you guys, thanks for all your hard work building a fantastic community!

Tactical Dreamer

Hello Ben and Friends, Where are your hype levels on Deathloop? We finally have a lot of the answers we've been looking for from the new gi cover story. Most importantly is yes, you can turn off the multiplayer and the female assassin will simply be an ai. I thought that's all I needed to hear, but I also heard on the gi show that there is only one correct order to go through the world to actually win, which seems antithetical to the freeform nature I was under the impression the game had. Overall I think I'm still in the wait and see camp on this one. Where are you guys at, and if you're in wait and see mode, what are you still waiting to see?

DangerZone

Howdy Minnsnackers! Do y’all have a favorite fast food place? Does Minnesota have any unique fast food stops? Do you guys have a Jimmy John’s?? Thanks!

Dan

Hey CLCs, I’ve been playing Bravely Default 2 recently, and after about 5 hours of gameplay, an in-game title sequence appeared. A while ago, I put about 4 hours into AC Valhalla before seeing one. The time between starting a game and seeing the title sequence seems to be increasing. What’s the deal with this trend? Is it basically just a flex from the developers, saying “We got so much content, we’ll give you 5 hours before the game even starts.” I get the aesthetic appeal of having a prologue before a title sequence, but how long is too long?

PhillyYeetSteak

Hello Javy and only javy, Have any of you completed a game and wish you hadnt? I have been trying to be more mindful of my time, and that often means learning to be okay with choosing to step away from a game that isnt grabbing me. For example, i completed Days Gone even though i actively disliked it, and in hindsight i wish i had spend those dozens of hours with something more satisfying for me. How about yalls?

Harrison Holt

Hello Fellas, Simple question from me on the topic of Bethesda. What impact, if any, do you think Microsoft studios will have on development at Bethesda? For instance, I’m really hoping that some of the folks at Obsidian are able to consult on upcoming Bethesda Game Studios projects Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield. Have a positive day! Harrison

Just wanted to shout out that the FF7 remake deepest dive lives up to hype! I got FF7 on PS plus recently and I might as well have bought a house in Midgar it's been on my mind so much. Here's a question: do you take advantage of the free games on PS plus/ games with gold? It's become a prime source for me to catch up on games I missed.

Geoff Enright

Hello hello! I'm sorry to break the news, but you've fallen through a nearby singularity and entered into an alternate dimension. Ya know, scifi logic. You have to pick between the options which games still exists from Bethesda Game studios (assume games have their expansions or DLC as well): Choice 1: ES3 - Morrowind ES4 - Oblivion ES5 - Skyrim Choice 2: Fallout 3 Fallout 4 Fallout 76 Choice 3: Fallout shelter ES - Blades Star field (since it is in development then whatever the current build it is right now) Choice 4: Fallout 4 VR Skyrim VR Anyways, love the pods and chat with you guys later! -Geoff aka Groffles

Howdy, y'all! I just learned that Rainforest Cafe is originally from Minnesota while watching Company Man's video on themed restaurants. I personally love themed restaurants so that got me thinking about themed restaurants I would like to see opened. My question to you is if you could have a restaurant themed after any video game series built in your town, which would it be? What sort of food would they serve? Personally I would love an underwater seafood place based on Bioshock's Rapture, pre-fall of course. Bonus points if they actually built it underwater vs. just using aquariums! Love from Texas, Christopher C. Castillo P.S. An underground Fallout-themed place that serves Nuka Cola would also rule.

Hey MinnMax. I recently had to walk my dad through opening files on his desktop from an external hard drive. It involved him trying to turn his webcam around, which is on top of his monitor, to look at the screen, which knocked over his modem, knocking it offline, which meant I had to walk him through installing Zoom on his phone (which wasn't easy). Explaining to him that Zoom on his phone wasn't using his computer's webcam. Several times telling him to turn his phone around and having him rotate it instead. Him telling me that he had "lost everything" on his computer. At one point he told me that "it's a URL problem". We eventually got it all working, but the process took the better part of an hour. Do you have any funny stories about giving tech support to technology-impaired friends or family?

Brian Lyness

Hey Ben & his loving co-hosts! I've been thinking about movies or TV series that deserve a high quality videogame, be it indie or AAA. I'd love The Matrix to get its proper due (the PS2 effort didn't do it justice) & think Kojima Productions would be capable of tackling the task. Hideo would be right at home considering the weirdness of The Matrix. What would be your dream videogame/dev combo that you'd like to see become a reality? Shoutout & much love from Ballyclare, Northern Ireland!

Jordan Shaffer

Hi MinnMax crew, Can you help settle an argument I've been having with my friends? The Discord UI...is it good or god awful? My friends somewhat recently created a Discord for our friend group, and I mostly ignored it because I think Discord has quite possibly the ugliest and least user-friendly UI known to man, which is apparently a hot take? (It's literally just Microsoft Teams, which is already bad, but with less functionality and more poorly laid out!) But now they are refusing to use the text group chat we've had for years, so I'm being forced to engage with it if I want to talk to them. Aside from them being weirdos for only wanting to communicate with Discord, who's right here? Me, or them who think it's not only fine but genuinely great? Thanks! Jordan Shaffer

Hey Minn Max Crew and Javy! So Ludonarrative Dissonance is a "fun" term that I've heard thrown around when talking about a game's narrative versus their mechanics, and there are some great examples of it out there. While there are a lot of examples of mechanics and narrative being at odds, what are some examples of them working together? Are there good examples of Ludonarrative "Resonance" (Did I just make that up?). If there are, were there any moments that you experienced yourself? Which of those was your favorite? Hold out a little longer for that warm weather!

Jaketrix

Hello! Do any of you have parents or older relatives that have one odd game that seemingly only they can't put down? I'm not talking about classics like Tetris or Super Mario. For example, my dad still plays through Command & Conquer on N64. He has never looked into the series on other platforms.

Edgar Vazquez

Dear JLCs (Javy Loving Cohorts) Should the title of the game be in or mentioned in the game? What about media in general? Should the title of a movie? Should the album name be a song in the album? I enjoy the "THERE IT IS!" moment.

Shreeb .

Hey Ben and crew (special shout out to Javy!) I made a game for you called "Covid Collecting Conundrum." The second-hand game collecting market has seen a sharp increase in value over the last year, largely due to people wanting to re-live nostalgia while stuck indoors. Can you guess which game in each pair is more valuable (according to pricecharting.com) as of the writing of this comment? All prices refer to used NTSC copies, complete with box and manual. Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast) vs. Final Fantasy 7 (PS1) Chibi Robo (Gamecube) vs. Castlevania Symphony of the Night (PS1) Chrono Trigger (DS) vs. Persona 3 Portable (PSP) Zelda Twilight Princess (Gamecube) vs. PaRappa the Rapper (PS1) Def Jam Fight for NY (PS2) vs. Futurama (PS2) Power Stone (Dreamcast) vs. Silent Hill 3 (PS2) Answers in the reply...

Hey minn makers(you'll get it shortly) During this pandemic there are a lot of people discovering new skills and talents through the hours and hours and days and years of slowly losing our minds. With that said, if you had to wake up tomorrow with a brand new skill to make something of your choice, and the knowledge to get you started, what would it be and why? Some examples are: video game dev, furniture, music, art, etc. Thanks for the good times.

Hootz

Hey dudes, I am ashamed to admit that the writing prompt you've provided (your episode preview) has forced me to realize that I have never played a Bethesda game. So now, I have three questions for you. 1. Am I allowed to still call myself a gamer? 2. Assuming you guys have now ranked all these games, should I start with the game at the top of the list, or is there a different order I should play them in? 3. Bethesda games are known for being fairly long. Which one of you will watch my 9-month-old son while I hammer out the game you recommend? Thanks for a great show!

ProcyonNumber6

What games HUD distracted you the most? I've been playing through Horizon Zero Dawn after playing Ghost of Tsushima and I can't stop thinking about how much information they're throwing at me at one time. And do prefer having less and checking menus? Or having everything presented all the time

Michael Moran

Hey you guys, What's the best logo in gaming? Is it the old green minnmax logo?

AnAttackCorgi

Hello DovahKings and DovahQueens. A while back you had Sarah Elmaleh on the show, and she coined the phrase "hipster-ass" gamer opinion. So what’s your hipster ass gamer opinion? A take that’s so cool no ones thought of it yet. To make a Bethesda related question, am I the only one who wished Bethesda made a “vanilla build” mode that turned on the funniest glitches? Don’t get me wrong I’m glad they fix their game breaking bugs, but one of my fondest memories playing a Bezda game was getting yeeted into space by a giant. Cheers and avoid getting yeeted into space by giants, AnAttackCorgi

I was watching this most recent episode of Trivia Tower and I almost broke into tears of guilt when you were telling the story about how your neighbor erased your Legend of Legaia file. I literally did the same exact thing to my brother when we kids (I was probably 6 and he was 9). I should not feel too bad because he spent much of our childhood erasing my files out of retaliation for minor things. Other than Ben's story, do the other MinnMaxers have similar stories? Thank you for bringing up Legend of Legaia, it is an underrated PS1 JRPG classic.

saibher (cyber)

Uhhhhh... MINNMAX! I've bought so many bethesda games and could never get past like 20% of their campaigns. Prey, Fallout, Skyrim, heck even Doom. Is there any 1 game that I should ABSOLUTELY return to, or should I just move on. Thanks y'all

Hugo Aguilar

Hey cohorts, I know you guys like to keep it positive, but what’s a game that left you disappointed? For me it’s Borderlands 3 I found the characters not that enjoyable. The villains were annoying. The writing in general was pretty bad. But also the gameplay, every gun felt the same to me. Shooting enemies wasn’t fun, half the time they wouldn’t react to getting shot. I stopped playing after I made into the second area. Anyway thanks for all you guys do! Keep it up

Ben Walker

I wrapped up Arkham Asylum just over a week ago and loved revisiting it, yet found myself wanting more as the credits rolled. I decided to give it some room to breath, and waited a week before jumping into Arkham City. Yesterday, I finished replaying that and immediately booted up Arkham Origins. At this point, I can seem myself finishing this and going straight into a replay of Arkham Knight! My question for you, cohorts: when was the last time you found yourself unable to put a game series down and ended up chain-completing a bunch of titles in a row?

Strange Sloth

I feel that The Evil Within is underrated it’s honestly one of my favorite games and I don’t think it gets enough attention. I hope they bring the second one to gamepass because it genuinely has one of the creepiest first two hours of any horror game out there. P.S. I’m very excited for GhostWire Tokyo as well

Jesse Joxstrap Brown Baldock

South Australia- Howdy Bors hows it goin. Long time listener, first time writing in sorta thing. I just finished watching the trivia tower on YouTube (It was very fun) There was an Age of Mythology map shown. My brother and I love this game and still play it to this day. Sometime we would have games where looser cooks tea (tea is dinner), does dishes or whatever. My question is have you ever had a time where you would wager chores on video games or *sub question* Best 1v1 experience. Please let nostalgia guide you. Thanks for the good times

Kees ('Case') Mulder

Hello! Talking about Bethesda games is a great time to talk about level scaling, where enemies are adapted to the player's level. The upside is that battles are always challenging, but the downside is that the player never feels powerful/weak and exploration is less exciting. Morrowind did very little of it, Oblivion infamously did very strong level scaling, and Skyrim tried to scale it back a little bit. This issue still hasn't been completely solved. What are your favorite solutions, and where should this go in the future?

Nubbyy

Hey Cohorts! A certain gaming publication once called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim the greatest RPG of all time. Now that it's been nearly 10 years since the release of Skyrim, do you agree with that ranking? Has your opinion changed since the aforementioned publication published their top 100 RPGs list?
