Thank you for introducing me to the phrase "Oofda". Somehow after the last show it immediately slipped into my lexicon, it feels so natural. Unfortunately in the UK everyone will think you are crazy if you start using it and shun you.

Happy Resident Evil 25th Anniversary week! To celebrate, do any of you have any memorable games or moments with the series that stick out? Any dream announcements that could happen for the anniversary? Resident Evil is my favorite series of all time and it has turned me into the horror fan that I am today.

Steven Lambson

We all know the lie the Batman is spreading, about him not killing people. The amount of radiation (x-rays) he’s using to see peoples skeletons will almost guaranteed their deaths, slowly and painfully. Especially when he forgets to turn off detective vision. The X-rays are most likely melting his brain as well. Anyway, why do you think we are so fascinated by X-Ray vision despite its impractical crime fighting ability? it was even used in the latest Marvel mini series (minor spoiler). Is it because of the glasses that came with old magazines, is it because pervs just want to see through people clothes? Remember that video, after the Kinect came out, where people claimed it could see through your clothes? Are we all just idiots?

Last week on the show, somebody said they hadn't seen any advertising for the Avengers game. There's at least 2 Avengers billboards in my hometown. In my opinion this isn't the BEST use of squares advertisement budget but what do I know?? I was also curious; have you ever seen any video game billboards? Why/why not? You think?

Benjamax and the CLC's, Now that Bethesda is part of MS, what would you pitch for their Super Smash Bros-like? A 4 player coop shooter like Destiny and Outriders with Master Chief, Joanna Dark, Doomguy, BJ Blazkowicz, Kate Diaz would make me cry.

Joe Kafchinski

The addition of Bethesda's library was rightly lauded as a huge value addition to Game Pass. Here's the thing: almost all those games, with the exception of the old Doom games and the addition of some notable absences from Game Pass like Fallout 3, Doom 2016 and Evil Within 2 are already on PS Now and have been for awhile. All the PS4 games can be downloaded and played offline and it may soon become the only place to find PS3 favorites. Sony puts out tweets, blog posts and YouTube videos every month with PS Now updates, but they have been completely unable to change its original impression as a poor streaming service with a mediocre selection. Why do you think people are unwilling to re-evaluate PS Now and is there anything Sony can possibly do to change public opinion around their service?

Vince Pavey

Should Quake Champions come to Xbox? It's already a big 'ol Bethesda crossover on PC — is it time to see BJ Blazkowicz and Doomguy get into a shoot 'em up against Master Chief and Marcus Fenix? Is that on brand? Should it be on brand? Personally I think it's a pretty cool idea.

Tanner Hoisington

A thought occurred to me while discussing the Bethesda March Madness results, and no it isn't just that New Vegas was robbed! JeffM said that the shooting in those games were so bad that they had to invent V.A.T.S, yet I love V.A.T.S so much that I would consider it one of my favorite mechanics in gaming. What are some controversial game mechanics that you actually enjoy? I dare someone to say escort missions.

MarriottPlayer

What’s your favorite unreleased PS3 game? Mine’s Eight Days.

It's Hugo's Nook

Hey there CLCs! The community on discord is playing through a slew of metroidvanias. Jumping from Hollow Knight to Guacamelee was a whiplash and also reminded me of the summer of 2018 when I was rotating between Iconoclasts, DeadCells and Hollowknight. Metroidvania is considered a genre nowadays but what falls in that genre seem so broad and not well defined. If all you need is atmosphere, exploration and new abilities unlocked overtime that let you access other areas, then wouldn't Prey be a metroidvania? Would love to hear your thoughts on what are the core elements that make up/you look for in a metroidvania?

PoorAndCurly

With Vita on its way out and the 3DS being discontinued, would you like to see another handheld console on the market besides the switch? If so, what would that console look like and who is making it?

Rigoberto Hernandez

A few weeks back, Ben’s GALOT was about a Spanish-language podcast called Podcast Reload. Spanish is my first language so I started listening and it’s been really fun to hear video game news this way. It got me thinking; video games are international and yet always seemed geared towards American audiences. Call of the Sea, for example, was created by a Spanish studio, and yet the game doesn’t have a Spanish language option. Are we losing something with the overemphasis on American audiences? What are some of your favorite non- American or Japanese-developed video games?

Jordan Blayney

What is your least favorite party member across any video game?

Tyler Sticka

Looking back at PS3 exclusives, I'm struck by how many awesome remaster collections the console received: Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, Ico + Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders, God of War, Devil May Cry, Hitman, Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider. Many of these run at a higher resolution than the PS2 Classic releases on PS4, and some include special features. What was it about the PlayStation 3 that encouraged that approach for re-releases?

Keenan Horrell

With vaccines rolling out and the US hopefully on the tail end of COVID, is there anything you will take away from this experience? Maybe a new hobby or an appreciation of something? For me it will be my family's Saturday night poker games. Every Saturday my cousins, brother, and father all hop in discord and play poker. We haven't spent this much time together since we were kids and its been a truly great bonding experience that I hope continues once the world is back to normal.

DangerZone

Does anyone else remember MAG on the PS3? I rented it for a weekend, thought it was neat, and never thought about it again. Fun weekend though!!

Sean Mason

Hey CLCs With the news that the PS3 store is closing it got me thinking about some more obscure PS3 games that enjoyed. One that comes to mind is Warhawk. My friends and I played countless hours of this game from 2007-2009. We even bought all of the DLC! This game was one of my favorites when I was 11-13 years old. I for one would love a remastered Warhawk. Just think they could even throw in a creative battle royal game (It’s not like we don’t have enough of those) My question: What obscure PS3 game would you love to see either be re-released, remastered, or remade? Best, Sean Mason

Ben Cooper

What is up minners/maxers, Narito Boy is coming to game pass on the 30th! This game has had very little hype and it baffles me why. The gameplay, music, and graphics are stellar. Maybe it's the name. Anyways I hope you all check it out when it arrives and have a blast entering the digital synth world of the 80s.

Jeeo Banogy

Hey Minn Max Crew! Are there any real-life skills that you can attribute to knowing because of Video Games? Thanks to spending a decent amount of time playing Runescape, I can read maps! Surprised my dad with the handy skill when I helped navigate our drive from New Jersey to Florida one year! Hope Springtime gives you guys some much needed warmth!

Geoff Enright

Hey MinnMaxers, Hope all is well! I have a simple one for you today. What is your favorite Netflix exclusive movie and television series? Don't think too hard, just gut reaction response. I'm a watching right now kind of person, so mine are: After Life TV series (Ricky Gervais) The Trial of the Chicago Seven movie -Geoff aka Groffles

Ryan Torberg

Hey gang, When you look at the film industry, it seems to be common practice in the last handful of years to ship a digital code with a physical copy of a blu ray or 4k blu ray. Do you think we could eventually see physical games start shipping with a digital code as well? I still like the idea of collecting SOME physical media if it has really cool artwork, steelbook or collectors edition. I also really love the convenience of swapping between a handful of digital titles that I'm playing and having quick resume is really a treat. Am I crazy for asking for something like this or should I just give it up and fully embrace our all digital future? Thanks, Ryan

John Scovic

Hey all, What is the one thing in the world you would bet you know more about than 99% of the population? For me, I somehow fell backwards into managing and designing escape rooms for four years straight out of college, and definitely know more about making escape rooms than 99% of people. What are your niche knowledge bases? Thanks!

Doreen Ford

Sony CEO Jim Ryan seems to think that archiving games isn't important just because no one plays them, but to me that isn't the point. Preserving media is worthwhile for it's own sake, right? Do y'all think we'll see more of these kinds of moves from other companies in the future?

Kevin Kuper

Hey all, Kevin here! What are your video game blind spots? For me it's the Nintendo 64 I always had a Nintendo handheld but chose playstation growing up and always feel alittle out of the loop when it comes to the N64.

DarkFishDays

Do you ever get a word stuck in your head but you don't remember where you last read it? Today I was repeatedly saying "quixotic" and I have no idea why.

RickyWinterborn

skate 2 and 3 on ps3 still probably hold the most hours i've ever put into a game, combined i'm sure my roommates and I put in over 1000 hours over 4 years of college...

TommenDotGif

Hey CLCs Everyone, and I mean everyone, is hyped about the Forspoken trailer. One of the things I don't hear a lot of talk about that I am really excited for is the spell we saw with roots coming out of the ground. To me, most spells in games tend to have very samey effects, but that seemed really unique and fun. What's your favorite spell to cast in a game? I was a big fan of levitate in Morrowind Thanks and keep up the great work!

Ryan Brister

I've been playing Hitman 3 almost daily since release, and I really appreciate its creative freedom and "anything goes" approach to problem solving. My question is: is there a video game NPC who you wish their game would just let you kill so you wouldn't have to keep dealing with them?

Edgar Vazquez

Hey CLCs, What word or phrase created for video games is the most widely known in popular culture? Phrases like "Battle Royal" and words like "Mario" were in use before their video game equivalents. I has to be Pac-Man right?

ObiJuanDeanobi

Ok, I've just gotten really deep into Hitman and I've been watching all the Hitman content on here and it got me thinking. The Hitman devs just have to be constantly thinking about ways to murder people right? Like sitting at dinner with their partner thinking "if I moved that wet floor sign, I could definitely murder someone." Right?

Cade Mead

With your past GI experiences, I was wondering what games you saw before release that were wildly different than the released product. What were the biggest disappointments and pleasant surprises?

Hootz

Hello, Minnmaxers. Bravely Default II was released almost a month ago now, and I am very excited about it. However, I promised myself I wouldn’t buy it until I finished Bravely Second, which has been on my pile of shame for about 4 years now. So I picked that old 3DS game back up. And was unexpectedly blown away. One of the key plot points of this game revolves around a “Great Plague,” which of course, already hits kinda close to home. Also in the game, there is a “catmancer” who is fairly grating for all of the reasons you might expect, including an egregious amount of cat puns - mostly mews and meows - in her normal speech. *STORY SPOILERS AHEAD (30 seconds of speech)* But then, near the end of the game, you discover that this character’s mother was a scientist who worked on a vaccine in anticipation of a second, deadlier wave of the Great Plague. Running short on time and resources, she started experimenting with the vaccines on herself, and her newborn baby girl. You also find out that the treatment the mother gave her daughter is why she has become this “catmancer.” At the end of this experimentation, the mother dies, the catmancer lives on as an orphan, and a vaccine is created that saves the world. *END SPOILERS* As a father whose firstborn child was born amidst the current pandemic last year, I bawled my eyes out during this little vignette near the end of the game. I don’t think a video game moment has ever been more real for me, and I never would have expected something like that to come out of a 3DS game released in 2015. Sorry for including a spoiler in this comment, but I had to share this with somebody. Are there any other times games have just offhandedly predicted the future in a major way? I.e. did any other video game anticipate something like the COVID-19 pandemic? If nothing comes to mind, then what is the most emotional moment you remember from playing a video game?

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts! In response to the shooting in Atlanta last week, Dean Takahashi wrote a piece for Venture Beat called "#StopAsianHate by making us more visible." In it, he talks about how the video game industry can help combat the othering of Asians with authentic representation. Of course, this applies to other groups as well. On the flip side, Diego Nicolás Argüello wrote for PC Gamer about how the newest operator for Rainbow Six Siege is supposed to be Argentinian, but his character lacks any authentic representation, from his appearance to his accent. So my question this week is this: what do you think are some of examples of the best and the worst the video game industry has to offer in terms of authentic representation? Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

ProcyonNumber6

What's your favorite cliche in media? Personally I like how cars in chase scenes seem to have an extra gear to shift into when they're almost caught.

Jordan Holmdahl

Is there any world where you would give Life Is Strange: True Colors the Deepest Dive treatment? I know it's not the most beloved series for the MinnMax crew, but I bet plenty of people in the community would be enthusiastic!

IanTClark

Quick, I need your help. We’re either going to upgrade our PC’s graphics card or get another 4K TV and an Xbox series X. Combined they are about the same price. What should we do?

Ryan

Hey all, in the spirit of PlayStation, and maybe I’m late to the party here, but I wanna jump to the PS5 and talk about how its GPU has its own theme song. It is absurd and beautiful. Maybe some day we can get a PlayStation musical to celebrate the history of the consoles and handhelds because someone needs to sing about how great the Vita was. You were before your time, sweet prince.

Dylan Drazek

Coming off of the Bethesda bracket from last week and hearing everyone’s reactions to Skyrim, i clearly remember having an extremely visceral reaction to the main trailer where Jeremy Soules score comes in a peaks when the FusRohDah is screamed. What’s a soundtrack or score that caused you to have an extremely intense reaction the first time you heard it?

Sam Morrow

Helloooooo MinnMax. I was wondering what is the strangest way that you have ever acquired a video game? As a kid, I once one a copy of the EA classic FreakStyle from a Gatorade lid. Then as a teen, I won a copy of Duke Nuke Em Forever at a poker tournament. Do any of you have any stories of acquiring games in an unusual method?

Devin

Hi JeffM, Suriel, Leo and Ben Hanson. I was thinking about how focused PS3-era Sony was on multiplayer. Almost every big Sony franchise at the time included a multiplayer mode, or entire game focused on multiplayer. Let's list them off. We're talking Resistance, Killlzone, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Ratchet & Clank, God of War, The Last of Us, Starhawk, Warhawk, SOCOM, MAG, Gran Turismo, Motorstorm, Twisted Metal, Mod Nation Races, RIDDDGEEE RACEERRR....and even smaller titles like Fat Princess and Journey. My question is, what was your favorite PS3-era Sony multiplayer experience? I personally loved Uncharted 2's multiplayer, and the Resistance 2 co-op mode. Also, I loved the Arkham Asylum Deepest Dive. I didn't get to play along with you, but the conversation was so good that I have played through mostly the whole game since finishing it.

saibher (cyber)

Hey Minnmax, I sold my PSP to gamestop around 10 years ago to get an ipod touch. I kind of regret that right now because it would've been nice to play those games again. But hey, I was a dumb kid who wanted to play Angry Birds. What is your opinion on selling old consoles? Do you plan on getting rid of your older gen stuff, specifically this most recent gen?

Erkie

Hello, cohorts! I’d like to play a game. It’s very simple and I call it: Video Game Character or Drag Queen? I’ve included a list of names (hopefully not too obscure) and I’d like you all to guess if the name belongs to a female video game character or a drag queen (Note: all drag queen names used are contestants from seasons of Rupaul’s Drag Race). Alright here we go! Miss Fortune - League of Legends Nina Williams - Tekken Kim Chi - Drag Queen Nina West - Drag Queen Para-Medic: Metal Gear Solid 3 Rock M. Sakura - Drag Queen Wendy Oldbag - Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Amy Rose - Sonic franchise Crystal Methyd - Drag Queen Olga Gurlukovich - Metal Gear Solid 2

Rickfromatlanta

Hi crew, Stadia recently announced RE Village was available for preorder on their platform and with the "success" Stadia saw with Cyberpunk initially at launch I was wondering if any of the team was looking to try it out this way. Personally I do not yet have a next gen console and I think this would be a great way to try out this game and get a free chromecast and controller in the process. I so far have enjoyed using Amazon's Luna so far as well. Any other thoughts on streaming platforms?

Rickfromatlanta

My favorite games on psp and vita were the patapon games and metal gear acid does anyone on the panel have any experience with these gems?

Plessie (Jesse K)

Hey there cohorts! As someone who grew up on Nintendo and Sony (no Xbox or PC), the PS3 was the first system I could download demos and trailers to. This was such a different experience from, say, buying a magazine to get a demo disc or getting a VHS in the mail from Nintendo Power with a Banjo-Kazooie trailer. All of this talk about the PS3 reminds me that I still have the announcement trailer for Final Fantasy XIII still saved on my system. I remember how hyped I was for the game, being a long-time FF fan, but even then, this trailer felt over-the-top. To this day I still quote FF XIII as being "the most highly anticipated video game of all time". Having this trailer on my PS3 fills a silly yet sentimental spot in my heart, and I can't bring myself to delete it. My question is: do any of you have any beloved media saved to your PS3s outside of complete games? I'm thinking demos, trailers, soundtracks, screenshots, anything of that sort that means something to you.

Devin Cheek

Hello MinnMax Crew, The PSP holds a special place in my heart. I spent my very first paycheck at 15 years old weed eating a golf course to buy the playstation portable. Any fond memories spending your own money on gaming related items as a kid rather than waiting for Christmas and birthdays? I paid for my xbox 360 stripping tobacco plants all fall. Keep up the great work cohorts! Thanks for all you do.

Erin T.

Hey Real Ass Gamer Boys™️! What do you think the next *big* sub-genre trend in gaming will be? There was a surge of powers-focused FPS games after Bioshock, a plethora of cinematic-driven 3rd person action games after Uncharted, battle royales have started to teeter off, and for better or worse, we’re kind of still in the looter-shooter surge. What’s next? (or even better, what would you like to see?)

Dan

Hey CLCs, To kill time during this pandemic, I've put together a few jigsaw puzzles. Occasionally, there will be two pieces already correctly put together, either from someone doing the puzzle previously, or it just never got correctly separated at the factory. What is the right thing to do in this situation? Is it cheating to leave them put together? Or should I take them apart and mix them in with the rest of the pieces? I'm losing sleep; please help!

Jason Wojnar

I was in a zoom class and my teacher was showing us a slide presentation accompanying a piece of music from a Ukrainian composer and two of the photos in the slide presentation were from Dark Souls. Specifically at a campfire. The piece of music was based on a Lithuanian fairy tale (Grazhina it is called, or Гражина) so it kind of fit thematically. Can you tell sometimes when school or university crossed over with video games in weird ways. My teacher is a 60 year old or so Ukrainian woman, so I don't think she was a fan of FromSoftware.

Doreen Ford

Hey cohorts! How do y'all respond to being under pressure? You know how people say "diamonds are formed under pressure" and all that and some people say "I do my best work" under pressure but then you have people like me with 5 minutes left to submit questions who think of stuff like this? (phew)
