Hiya MinnMaxers! With the announcement that Sony is developing a remake of The Last of Us for some reason, what is the real Sony exclusive you would want to see remade. Personally I would love to see a remake of Jak 2 with modern open world design. It could be a real banger

Jaylyn brooks

Hey minnmax, what your personal favorite ending in any PS3 era game?

Zachary Sweet

Hello all, Are there any game series that got progressively "worse" with every entry? The only one I can think of is the Mass Effect series, in the case of the weirdos that like the first one more than the second. How about a game series that got consistently better? The closest one for me is the mainline GTA games, my only hesitation is having Vice City over 3.

Hello Cohorts. Why won't Capcom remaster Viewtiful Joe?

Kris Calkins

I recently completed AC: Valhalla and decided to revise my top 10 favorite games of all time. I ended up replacing Modern Warfare 2 and I got to thinking when comparing single player and multiplayer games how much value do you place on the fun you have with friends while playing a game when determining how much it means to you?

Jeorin

Hey peeps, I'm bummed about the cancellation of Days Gone 2. I really enjoyed taking out those huge hordes of zombies, or just riding around Oregon on my motorcycle in Days Gone, and it would've been cool to explore that world more. So my question today is: If you could resurrect one cancelled game from the past, what would it be?

Abigail Warner

With all the talk of remakes this past week I would like to hear your thoughts on a few remakes I would like to see. Nintendo loves putting old games on Switch so why haven’t we seen Wii Sports Deluxe yet? Next up how about a version of Disney Infinity or Lego Dimensions without the toys to life aspect. Everything is all in one and unlocked through play. Bonus points what single figure would come with the collectors edition? (I know licensing is hard) The final one and the one I want the most takes us back to Nintendo a full HD remake of Mario 64. I want to play that with my nieces and nephew so bad but they just can’t get into the version in 3D all stars. It’s showing it’s age for the people who don’t have nostalgia.

James Ford

Hello Cohorts, do you have a minimum amount of time you put into a game before jumping off? A few hours? Or If you aren't compelled to play after the first session do you force yourself to play abit more? What are your thoughts?

MyNameIsDan

Hey friends, As we continue to see video games make their way to the kitchen table as board games, are there any games you would like to see converted into a board game? I love FTL and I think its core mechanics and roguelike elements could transfer smoothly to a board game. It would be a co-op game that pretty much mirrors what you do in the actual game: battle enemy ships, upgrade your personal ship, recruit new members to your crew, involve yourself in events that you hope provides a reward, etc. Thanks, Dan

Wacca wacca everyone, wacca wacca. After seeing online that Henry Cavill almost lost his Superman audition because he missed a call from Zack Snyder to complete a WOW raid, I got curious about celebrities who played videogames. Since some of the names were very surprising, I've listed them below and invite the panel to guess. Cheers, and enjoy life because you'll never get a remake, AnAttackCorgi Zac Efron - Halo Michelle Rodriguez - Halo, Call of Duty Will Arnett - Call of Duty Roasrio Dawson - Pokemon Megan Fox - Halo, Mortal Kombat Samuel Jackson - Assassin's Creed, GTA V Matthew Perry - Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas Jessica Alba - Nintendo DS games like Brain Age Michael Fassbender - Assassin's Creed Daniel Craig - Halo, GTA V Mila Kunis - Call of Duty, World of Warcraft Brie Larson - Animal Crossing, Breath of the Wild Vin Diesel - Call of Duty Jack Black - general arcade games, Minecraft, Project Gotham Racing Drake - Fortnite Michael Felps - Call of Duty

it seems pretty obvious that sony is taking heavy cues from marvel. there logo rebrand was a carbon copy and now there pushing hard to break into films and tv shows. there not the first to try aping marvels approach, and they don't have the greatest lineup of characters to build trilogies out of, but i'll give em a chance. i think a god of war show on hbo could be sick.

Hi Ben & Friends! E3 is confirmed and its time to let speculations run wild! I want you to gauge how hot my "hot take" really is ... are you ready?! Last April Kojima hinted that he wants his next project to be a "revolutionary" horror game. With recent rumors suggesting a Kojima Productions and Xbox team-up in the works  ... could this team-up be bigger then we expect?! Remember last year when Xbox purchased Zenimax Media? Well under that umbrella isTango Gameworks. Like Kojima Productions this is a Japanese developer based in Tokyo. Now hang onto your hats... The founder and CEO of Tango Gameworks is none other then the godfather of the survival horror genre Shinji Mikami! How "revolutionary" would that team-up be?! Is this just a fanboy fever dream or do you think we could see these titans team up under an xbox banner that is pushing to gain a stronger presence in the Japanese market?

RickyWinterborn

i foresee sony buying epic within 5 years, maybe sooner, since they've been so chummy lately. The lines between gaming, film and tv are becoming increasingly blurred, and with Microsoft literally making 20 billion dollar acquisitions every month it seems like sony will eventually have to beef up to stay competitive.

Hey Ben-10 and the CLCs, CD Project keeps saying that they're "not giving up" on fixing Cyberpunk, which seems obvious; but I'm wondering what about all the DLC and "expansion packs" they had planned? Ubisoft basically cancelled the entire AC Unity season pass after that launch fiasco and CDPR has already cancelled or indefinitely delayed the Cyberpunk multiplayer mode. Do you think CDPR will still make large story content packs for Cyberpunk, or make it smaller in scale or just scrap it and just get the game working? If they do make DLC, will they be paid or free to try and recoup some goodwill?

Justin Peigowski

Hey there everyone! I recently booted up Gears 5 on my Series X to check out the new enhancements, but I was reminded of something I feel no gaming outlets have really talked about since the game's release. || Potential Gears 5 Spoilers || Towards the end of the game, you must make a decision to save one of two main characters, and whoever you don't choose is killed right then by the evil queen monster lady. Previous Gears of War games have let you make a choice when the path forward splits, but it mainly changed up gameplay and never affected the outcome of the story. This is the 5th mainline Gears game, so I was not expecting them to shake it up by adding player consequence that can impact the next game. These were two of this new Gears trilogy's biggest characters, so I'm super curious how they are going to address this choice in Gears 6. My question is if a game sequel has ever done something that was completely unexpected? Not necessarily with the story or plot, but if there was a new game mechanic or surprising sequence that you did not see coming at all?

Ricky Coogan

Hello! Maybe it’s just a facet of getting older, but as I’m a few years away from 40, my general interest in actually playing games is slowly fading. Therefore, my backlogs of older games that I once felt like I HAVE to play isn’t bothering me as much. However, I still stress a little bit about older films or TV series that I’ve always wanted to see. What are some movies or shows on your backlog that you’ve wanted to get to for some time?

AnotherRobot

How long do you think it takes a JRPG character to get ready in the morning?

jacob hubbard

Howdy, Ben and the Bandits! This week I got back into playing rainbow six siege with some friends of mine, and while it certainly was a blast, made me think about the endgame for a lot of these "living" games. I mean, how many operators can they possibly cook-up? My question to you is; what is realistically the fate for these hugely popular online multiplayer games? Obviously things like WoW have shown a game's lifespan can be huge, but won't it theoretically come to an end? Do you think we will be playing Destiny or Overwatch in 15 years? Thanks all!

Bryan Tylec

With this new April system update for the Playstation 5 that I couldn't care less about, I've been fuming all day about one question. Do you think we will ever get new Backgrounds for our Home Screens again or are we stuck with the boring one that came with the system? Because I miss my Tron RUN/r background more than I miss the entire rest of humanity.

Steven Lambson

Alright Hotshots, listen up. A kaiju is attacking your home city! Who are you drift compatible with and how will you two save your town???

It's Hugo's Nook

Catching up with the Deepest Dive on Batman Arkham and I got curious: Across all media and games - From Will Arnet's Lego Batman to Battfleck to Telltale's - what is your favorite incarnation of the caped crusader? My personal choice is Diedrich Bader's Batman on the Harley Quinn show - it's a nice blend of Lego Batman's spoiled child demeanor with the more traditional depictions of the Bat

Hello Ben Handstand and The Twirlers, I'm calling it right now. Guitar Hero 1-3 remastered will be announced any minute now. All the songs from the first 3 games in one package with some dlc bundled in too. It's time. It'll probably be called Encore Edition. You know I'm right. What remake or remaster is going to happen next that we should all see coming?

Spencer Botine

Hello Ben & Cohorts! My wife and I have been playing It Takes Two together and are having a blast. This is really her first foray into gaming, and she’s had some struggle picking up the skill set of modern games - controlling camera and movement simultaneously, platforming mechanics like the double jump, aiming & shooting, etc. This got me thinking - if you were to teach a Gaming 101 class to help newcomers navigate the medium today, what games would be in your curriculum (maybe pick your top 3)?

tbeeks15

Hello Minn Max crew! I unexpectedly went down a Nintendo Labo reaction video rabbit-hole recently and was reminded of how truly odd and bizarre Labo was and still is. This may have been somehow subconsciously linked with Schrier’s Sony story saying Playstation is leaning into blockbusters, along with them shutting down Japan Studio, the studio doing some of the weirdest, and most creative stuff at Sony. With fewer and fewer companies willing to bet and such weird experiments to be successful in the games industry, I think it would be fun to focus on the ones that have and haven’t worked from the past. So what are some of your favorite weird gaming products that have come out over the years? Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts! Keep up the great work all! Love & Respect! -Beeks

*In JeffM voice* Howdy House Hunterssssss! In honor of floor 3(?) of trivia tower this month (congrats Rayluaza) what are some of your favorite, most memorable UI in video games? It's a feature that I feel like often gets overlooked, but when done well is really appreciated! Mine has to be the Kingdom Hearts franchise, as the look of your command menu changes from world to world, matching the aesthetic and really making you feel like you're an outsider being fully immersed in the Disney magic.

Hey Minnesota Maximizers, This is a very specific question that I think you all are well qualified to answer. What is it about the Midwest that churns out very funny people? You've got Bill Murray, Jim Gaffigan, John Mulaney, Hannibal Buress, Dan Harmon (Community, Rick and Morty), Joel Hodgson (Mystery Science Theater 3000), the RedLetterMedia guys, and of course the MinnMax cohorts. Is it the culture? The long winters? The word "oofta?" I'm from the South; so what's the secret??

G-Max Thoeren

Hey Cohorts, So with Austin Wintory coming down hard on the FF7 Remake soundtrack on a recent episode of Crossfade, I've gotta ask; how much stake do you guys put in other people's opinions? It's easy to brush off people whining about not all the Pokemon being in Sword and Shield, or people hating on The Last of Us just because Ellie is gay. But I have a hard time reconciling it when someone who I like and respect, who I consider a master of the craft, says that one of my favorite video games OSTs has major flaws. What do you guys do with differing opinions that you respect? Can you just ignore them? Do you have to find a reason why you came to a different conclusion? Help!

Matthew Weatherley

G'day Minnmaxeroos Why do gaming companies insist on using seasons as the release window for their games. Do they not realise the seasons are opposite here in up side down land.

saibher (cyber)

Hi Minnmax, What other classic games should get the Tetris/Pacman 99 treatment? I'm thinking that the original donkey kong would be interesting. Kinda relevant, Plants vs Zombies 99 might be an interesting idea (IF THEY PORTED THE ORIGINAL TO THE SWITCH)

Jake Z

With blockbuster movies going back to the theaters soon and away from streaming services day one along with the news that Sony may be focusing more on blockbusters in the future, are any of you starting to think that maybe blockbusters and streaming services can't coexist? Maybe they can only continue to be made if people are willing to pay an inordinate amount of money day one? It sure seems like they're not sustainable otherwise.

Kees ('Case') Mulder

I'm playing the Dishonored series because Leo told me so on this podcast a few weeks ago. While you have far-reaching narrative choices in every entry including DLC, Dishonored 2 essentially has a pre-determined set of choices that are decided to be canon, regardless of what you have done as a player. I don't think it's feasible (artistically & financially) to carry huge player choices across sequels, and for this reason Mass Effect sequels had main plots that don't completely change based on choices made in earlier entries. So the Dishonored approach of forcing a specific choice is actually a decent way to allow the player to make bigger choices within one game, at the cost of some confusion for players who made the non-canon choice (like me). What's the right balance for you all?

Troy Ellison

Hey Ben and the CLCs, what are your all's favorite "lame" power ups in games? I got a kick out of Dunkeys latest Balan Wonderworld video and the central joke in how every powerup is so poorly designed to where they can barely perform their intended functions. Are there any power ups from other games you enjoy simply for their blatant uselessness?

Fatt Mish

Hi Minimum Maximusts! If you guys and gals could pick one game from your childhood (age 8-10) to remake for current consoles or PC, which game would you choose?

Kevin

Hello MinnMax! With the recent rumors that Sony is working on a more direct response to Xbox Game Pass, what does Sony need to do to offer a more appealing service than the already great value that Game Pass is? Love all that you do, Kevin

YARF

Do you guys think Jeff Cork is excited about Resident Evil 8 because of that huge woman, Lady Dimitrescu? I know he has some self professed “thing” for being small in a big world or getting stepped on... something like that *shrug* he mentioned it awhile back. just crossed my mind. LOL she is bigger than Master Chief!

Crayter

Hey cohorts! So, not only is E3 (sorta) back, but... Surprise! You get to will your own fantasy E3 announcement that otherwise likely would never happen into existence! Give us all the juicy details about it.

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and the CLCs, What game mechanic are you trash at? Personally I can't keep a small dot from getting hit by other dots i.e combat in Undertale

Erin T.

Ahoy, Cohorts! You find yourself stranded on an island, but alas, you aren’t alone – inhabiting the island are *3 enemy types*. Which 3 enemies from gaming (or specific enemies from a game or series) do you feel confident surviving against?

Greg Lovell

Hi Ben and the CLCs. I've been playing It Takes Two with my wife. It's a beautiful game and feels like a labour of love. BUT! I've discovered something both hilarious (for me) and potentially divorce-inducing (for her). My wife can't use the analogue sticks to control the camera and the character at the same time! She spins the camera, eventually points it in the right direction, then moves the character. It's so utterly bizarre to me, but she can't figure out using both at the same time. Marital strife aside, this got me thinking about other mechanics, narrative devices and actions that gamers just take for granted (e.g. picking up everything from every drawer in Fallout) that non-gamers just don't understand. So much of this is hard-baked into me after 35 years of games, I don't think about it. But when you're laughing / crying at someone unable to navigate in 3D, it makes you think that there's probably loads of this stuff we take for granted, but "normal" people find weird. Anything stand out to you?

Toasted

When did the runtime of a game start to become a mainstream selling point? Excluding RPG's, I feel like it started to shift towards the end of the PS3/360 era maybe? Uncharted 2, The Last of Us, and Batman Arkham Asylum for example were solid 10+ hour games, and they weren't criticized for their length. Is it the open world trend of the PS4/ Xbox One era that's driving game runtimes to be plumped up with filler? Or is it just soo important these days as a selling point when marketing towards gamers?

Andrew Holmes

Hey CLCs, With the recent news about PlayStation consolidating and being "safe" with there future projects. do you think this pushes talent away from Sony, towards more indie or third party projects?

Hootz

Hey guys. I’m having a dinner party. What do I need to put on the charcuterie board to get you to come?

RiskyChrisP

Hey Cohorts, I’ve got about an hour left in the (awesome) PopCap documentary, so I’m sorry if this comes up, but do any of you all know about the Plants versus Zombies theme park ride? Carowinds in Charlotte North Carolina has a 3D shooting game that’s a little like Disney’s Midway Mania, except you’re divided into two teams on one giant screen. You can read all about it here: https://www.carowinds.com/rides-experiences/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-3z-arena Listening to the documentary got me thinking about that ride for the first time in years, and it also inspired this question: if you could base a single theme park attraction after one game, what would it be and what would it look like? I feel like a Rocket League ride could be fun. Get two teams of four in a room with a giant screen where everyone has their own car that moves and rumbles when it hits other cars, the ball, or uses boost. Thanks for all you guys do, and long live house hunter rise!

Tanner Hoisington

Howdy cohorts! For some reason I was thinking about the old "where y'all sitting" meme where you walk into a cafeteria and have to choose a table to join and I thought "why not make MinnMax do this with Smash characters?" So here are a list of tables that consist of at least one cool kid and one loser from the Smash roster, and you have to choose where you would sit. - Table 1: Captain Falcon, Shirtless Shulk, and Bowser - Table 2: Joker, Wario, and Jigglypuff - Table 3: Isabelle, Sonic, and Sephiroth - Table 4: Snake, Cloud, and Daisy

Brady Griffith

Hello, MinnMaximoffs! I bought Bloodborne when I first got my PS4 in 2016, but I didn't play it for the first time until four years later... and I freaking loved it! I bought and finished the DLC and platinumed the game within a month of starting it and was kicking myself for not starting it sooner. It may be too soon to rank, but I could easily see this being in my top 10 games of all time. So two part question: 1) for any of your favorite games, did you sit on them for a long time before starting them? 2) what game do you currently own that you think may be a favorite if you just picked the dang game up already?

Bob Lienemann

Hello cohorts! What’s the most unusual way you’ve overcome a challenge in a video game? For example, I beat ruby weapon in FFVII by focusing attacks on its tentacles behind me, thinking I could chip away damage safely. Instead, I ran it out of mp, which let me dual summon Knights of the Round with no fear of an Ultima counter.

Jared B

What video game genre is the “peanut butter” genre? Aka what genre goes with everything?

Justin Dale

Cutting it close probably for this week. Have you ever been talked out of a game and look back on it now and remember it for the better or worse? Context: I remember a birthday where my parents took me to pick out any video game I wanted. Snes was still at its height and I know just the one. We went in the store and I pointed to Earthbound in its big box with the strategy guide. My mother made me double guess myself and I thought about it. I ended up walking out that day with Killer Instinct. (Still one of my fav fighting games and I still have the CD soundtrack it came with)

Justin Dale

I have feeling about missing out on Earthbound as a kid... but Killer Instinct was BA.

Austin B Media

What do you think about the news that the ESA partnering with media outlets for E3 2021?
