Hey there NinnNax! A small group of my friends and I have been vaccinated, huzzah! I'll be going to a small BBQ with them soon, where they have the meats. What are some s-tier sides I can bring to blow their minds??

When trying to pronounce a word that you're not confident in pronouncing, do you intentionally pronounce it in a way that sound more natural for you, or do you attempt something closer to the actual pronunciation (pronouncing karaoke as kary-okie versus kara-okay)

Hi Ben, does it feel like you've won now that Brandon Jones spends several minutes defending the very concept of the "poptarts and toaster strudels" segment every time Easy Allies does it again? Multiple people even declared "I like both!"

Edgar Vazquez

Hey CLCs, Here's some quick madlib descriptions of some game. I figure Ben can ask for the words from the other members and say the final results. Hi everyone, growing up as a Playstation kid I always noticed the parallels between Naughty Dog's and Insomniac's output. From Spyro and Crash, Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter, to Resistance and Uncharted, it really felt like the two companies were side by side through the generations. It wasn't until The Last of Us and Sunset Overdrive that it felt like the companies had diverged paths. If they were to fall back in step with each other, what would you rather see, Insomniac deliver a Last of Us 2 equivalent or Naughty Dog making a Spider-Man equivalent? What do you think these games would be like? Thanks!

TheName'sPug

Hey Everyone, After my question about post-game sadness last week, I started wondering how common it is for people to buy into the expanded media of a game. The Life is Strange comics that I mentioned are my first big experience with this. Are there any games that hooked you so much that you bought all of the expanded media (comics, movies, books, etc.) for it? Thanks!

Shuffleguy

Hey Han and the Bensons, Earlier this week, I got my master’s degree in pharmacy. In two weeks, I will be working as a pharmacist in a nearby hospital. This got me thinking: which videogame has the best depiction of a modern-day hospital? (not including simulation or tycoon games) Love the show as always!

I made some Japanese curry the other day and it threw me back to the start of the pandemic. I first attempted making Japanese curry after lockdowns were being introduced and the pandemic was in its first couple months. I remembered eating the leftovers for a few days while watching the first season of Kipo and the age of the wonderbeasts on Netflix. Thinking about it gave me a weird fondness for the early days of the pandemic. Even though things were much more uncertain it somehow felt like a simpler time. Have any of you had any specific fond moments come out of this whirlwind of a year?

Riley

Hey MinnMaxers, You know when you want to do something simple, like login to an account, but then you have to do two factor authentication, and then a CAPTCHA, and — oh wait you were timed out, so you have to log back in, and they sent you an email, and you have to enter the code, and do another CAPTCHA, but you missed a palm tree so now you have to do another..... Where do you draw the line? Is there a point in time you just give up?

Tactical Dreamer

Hey Ben and Co. What is your favorite bizarre character name in video games? Thanks Tactical Dreamer

Jordan Edmond

Hello Cohorts, Why do tailing missions always suck? I find that they are either too easy to the point that they are boring or too difficult that they end up being frustrating. Have y'all ever played a good tailing mission? Have any ideas on how to improve this over used mission type? Thanks for all the Grade A content!

Kees ('Case') Mulder

The announcement trailer for 'SKIN DEEP' just dropped, published by Annapurna. When I saw the footage and the style of the graphics I immediately thought of Blendo, the studio behind '30 Flights of Loving'. And indeed, it turned out they are developing it. What auteurs have you recognized by style, and turned out to be (surprisingly) right?

Doreen Ford

Hey CLCs! What's the scariest moment in a Resident Evil game for you or why? Alternatively or additionally what's the scariest RE game and why?

Christian Jimenez

Hey xaMnniM, With the Village hype train rolling, I thought maybe we could do a quick lighting round game and see how you feel about the RE series? Quick, simple, first instinct answers to the mainline games. RE 0 Most forgotten game in the series? Yes/No RE 1 (Remake) Best in the series? Hell yeah or Remake it again RE 2 (Remake) Leon or Claire? RE 3 (Remake) Nemesis or Mr. X? RE 4 Is it an action game or a horror game? RE 5 Punching a boulder: Dumb or Cool RE 6 Was harshly judged or Tim Turi was wrong RE 7 Scariest of them all? Nah or Only in VR RE 8 Do you want Lady D to step on you? Yes or Absolutely

Sean Mason

Hey CLC’s, Everyone always talks about big developers and studios reviving dormant IPs, but, am I the only one who thinks we have too many IPs from the big guys. Do we really need another half-bait Sonic game (I’m looking at you Sonic Forces)? So my question, if you could retire any active IP from a major developer or studio, who would it be and why? Best, Sean M.

Taylor Clark

Hey Minnmaxions with all this resident evil hype for village and never having played any of the re games i was wondering which is the best and which do i need to play to play village? I know its a continuation of 7 and its the same main character?( i think) but which should i play to be caught up on the story, ir should i just watch a 3 hour synopsis i found on youtube? Love the podcast!

t00thr0t

Hey arcade loving cohorts, with the recent Fantasian I’m wondering.. Has Apple Arcade secretly become a serious gaming platform? I just now noticed that Clap Hanz released a new golf game on there and while checking that out I realized that there’s a Taiko No Tatsujin game there as well?? And both are really solid versions! Maybe time for more gaming outlets to do reviews?

Alex Britt

Sup CoMpUtEr cOhOrTs, What's a small, unremarkable detail in a game that will make you like the game more by a factor of 10? For me, I like being able to see my characters feet in FPS's, or inventory screens that part of the game world i.e Deadspace. Honestly when I cant see my feet the game gets a little worst. Thanks y'all! Alex, Erie PA

Tim Lorow

As part of my recent education in Final Fantasy VII, I watched the Midgar section of the original you posted. Never having played the original, I was appalled at the overworld character models... especially Barret who looks like a Black Mr. Potato Head. How were people okay with those dreadful blocks of polygons that somewhat resembled beloved characters? Are we now spoiled by fidelity, or will we look back at today's games and think the same 24 years from now?

Jonathan Fenn

Hey Minnmaxers, With the recent stories about Sony focusing on Western development studios and sticking to less risky releases, it seems like any chance of there being another Gravity Rush game is all but gone. The first two games had their flaws but I have a real fondness for them - particularly the unique and satisfying movement mechanics, which in my opinion are unrivaled, perhaps even compared to the new Spiderman games. My question is this: what specific, forgotten gamplay elements from an old game do you wish would make a return, either in a sequel or reinterpreted in a new franchise? All the best from the UK, Jonathan

Mark Weston

With the news of Shaun Escayg returning to Naughty Dog as Creative Director, do you think they’re going back to having two teams again within the company like they did with Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us?

Troy Ellison

Hey Yo and the Zetties, have you ever enjoyed a games dlc more than the main game itself? I recently finished control for the first time and while I thought the main game was good, I thought the foundation dlc was much more compelling in building out the weird fiction elements of that world. Have you ever played a game where it's extra content superceded the original game for you?

Thom Blackburn

When will remappable controls become standard on consoles? In the push for accessibility it is really disappointing to me that none of the new consoles have this baked into their OS on a per-game basis. Thanks, Thom

Holden Hintz

Hey folks, what’s something you doubted you’d ever like and turns out it’s one of your new favorites?

Jake Z

I recently heard Mike Bithell say that with photogrammetry becoming cheaper and cheaper we may see a future where more AAA games have a stylized look to show off how expensive they are. What do you think about this possible future? I think it sounds plausible and I'm all for AAA devs using more resources for stylized art direction.

Fizz

Good day Cohorts, What is the best frozen novelty one can get from an ice cream truck? The correct answer is the Bubble Play right? Thank you for the existing, ~Fizz~

ObiJuanDeanobi

Hey minnmaximillions, While watching the schrier interview Jason and Ben seemed to have some different takes on the toxic culture of the video game industry. Ben im sure since this industry makes up alot of your day to day life these conversations can bring alot of emotions to the interviews. Is this ever a challenge to clear your head and focus on your goals for the interview and if so how do you overcome?

ObiJuanDeanobi

While listening to the most recent minnmax council episode Ben said he was most proud of the halo deepest dive. This got me thinking and I realized I don't know what each of the cohorts enjoy doing at minnmax. So each of you, what's your favorite content that you've been involved in?

RickyWinterborn

loved the interview with jason schrier. the end focusing on positivity online and "punching back" was really interesting. hearing you spar on what's the best way to handle it i think reflects the entire internet and really how society has become when it comes to public interactions. almost every comment section or discord is always simps vs. haters or fans vs casuals etc. it seems like anywhere in between is too boring to be upvoted, so the cycle continues. i love that minnmax is all about positivity but im not gonna lie, sometimes i really want ya'll to break character a bit. does that make me part of the problem? is it bad i really want ya'll to dig into david jaffe and fuel the fire a bit?

ImABiggyBoi

Hey Jacob Geller and the fart smellers! That's it just saying hey

Mason Parker

What are yalls thoughts on the shortage of next generation consoles? They simply don't exist outside of scalpers. Is this a precedent? If so, when should we expect them to be readily available?

Gabe Brandolino

Ben and company! What is something giving you joy, something you're proud of, or otherwise something you are grateful for at the moment? I recently hit a point where I'm pretty sure I love my newish job and am proud of the work I'm doing as a middle school para.

Jake Sawyer

Hello there, so Spiderman 2018 was dubbed the "Iron Man of the MGU" but we have yet to see what that actually means, and with WB taking close to a Decade for their next DC game (not including Injustice) what would you like to see from Marvel and DC in terms of Characters getting a solo game? Mine would be Superman or Flash or Wonder Woman by SMS or Deadpool (with the Nemesis System would have been amazing) or a Dr Strange game. Hope your all great and much love from across the Pond

Bryan Tylec

Hey everyone, what's the best brand of plain flavored potato chip? Is it Cape Cod? It's Cape Cod, isn't it? I knew it.

Josh Fairburn

Hey guys! With such an interesting use of the web cam for Before Your Eyes, can you think of other games that have used alternative inputs to add to the experience?

Eric Seal

Hi all, How do you distinguish "films" from "movies?" Is it something in your gut, like how JRPGs are distinct from role-playing games that happen to be made in Japan? Or is it more synonym/slang-based like "songs" and "tracks?" Anyway, Hanson calling 1995's Mortal Kombat a "film" on this week's Council podcast almost made me crash my car.

Jake

Hey y’all! For $500,000 a week would you live off of a cheesesteak and water blended drink? It’s the only thing you can eat or drink. If you ever stop and go back to a normal diet you can never hear music again. You only hear “Old Town Road” any time a song is played. You also are allowed vitamins and supplements to keep you alive. I think I’m doing it.

Justin Dale

Hello CLC’s!!! Have you ever been talked out of a game and look back on it now and remember it for the better or worse? Context: I remember a birthday where my parents took me to pick out any video game I wanted. Snes was still at its height and I know just the one. We went in the store and I pointed to Earthbound in its big box with the strategy guide. My mother made me double guess myself and I thought about it. I ended up walking out that day with Killer Instinct. (Still one of my fav fighting games and I still have the CD soundtrack it came with). I have feeling about missing out on Earthbound as a kid... but Killer Instinct was BA.

D Bawner

Hey MinnMax-ers, After watching David Jaffe's .... ugh ... "animated" reaction to last week's interview with Jason Schreier, it got me thinking about what goes on behind the scenes in the video games industry. From your experience are there some underlying tensions between developers and critical reviewers? Or on the opposite end of the spectrum, do you find it hard to critique/discuss negative press that your industry friends are directly involved with? As an aside: It's interesting to see the more human side of the industry. Its easy to think of "Naughty Dog" and "MinnMax" as these separate emotionless entities. We forget that we are all just humans stumbling through this world trying to make the best of the things thrown our way. Keep on stumbling gang I think you are doing great!

MickManga

Hope you all are having a good day. Anyways I was just thinking about the limited editon ice blue game boy pocket. Which eerily released shortly after the ice storm of 1998. Nowadays I am pretty sure it was a coincidence that it launched than. But it's timing was prefect as the I Survived The Ice Storm of 98 memorable was all over new England. Heck even Nintendo Power had an add that advertised it as such. So my question is has there ever been another console that possibly received a special edition do to a natural disaster? Or was this a very unique case?

Zeth Hillman-Johnson

How do you do, fellow gamers? Have you guys ever replaced a bad habit with a video game? I've been playing a lot of RuneScape on my phone, which helps stop me from anxious Twitter scrolling. I think this is an improvement?

Jason Wojnar

When a game's main menu says "Press any button to continue", what button do you press? I prefer to test this statement by starting with clicking in the analog stick and then the D-Pad. If this doesn't work, the game is immediately a piece of trash in my book, I don't like being lied to.

Bob Buel

Howdy intrepid heroes, Realistically, have we peaked with controller setups? Four face buttons. 2 sticks. 1 D-pad. 4 shoulder buttons. And miscellaneous start/select/screenshot buttons. Obviously controllers grew from a 1 button 1 stick Atari controller and slowly evolved over the years but it seems like we reached a consensus that where we were at in the PS3/360 generation was about as far as we needed to go. Even the black and white buttons from the OG Xbox went away as we just didn't really need it. I couldnt imagine a controller in the next gen coming along and saying "look how much better we are than those competitors controllers - we got 6 shoulder buttons and 5 face buttons." Sure there are slight differences today like the barely used Playstation Trackpad and other console specific tweeks, but if you had to bet - is the controller we're looking at today more or less going to be the same controller we're gonna use to play games in 50 years? Thanks Bob Buel

YARF

This Saturday I am seeing a movie at a movie theater for the first time in ~400 days... that Demon Slayer movie actually with some old buddies and my wife, and I am absolutely PUMPED(D&D session to follow, where a bunch of grown men act like freaks). When is the last time you guys enjoyed a trip out to the movies? Things are slowly but surely returning to a pre-COVID state. ALSO, what is your big post-COVID bash going to be?

Joshua Caleb

Hey Benny and the Minnettes? So Sony has apparently seen the error of their ways and will keep the PS3 and Vita stores up.......for now.(RIP PSP) In their blog post, they say they "found a solution" to the expense and maintenance required to keep the stores open. Do you think they actually figured out a way to cost-effectively keep them up for the foreseeable future, or is that marketing speak for "Ya'll shouted loud enough and bought enough games on there, we decided we could keep it open awhile longer"? Or, third option: do you think maybe they've figured out some backwards compatibility system for PS5 to migrate most of the games over, they're just not ready to announce it yet?

Strange Sloth

I thought I would share a story from when I was in high school. When I was a freshman I had this friend that introduced me to marijuana, and we had a really solid friendship. He stayed at my house whenever things would get rough at his. One day I come home to discover my ps3 my mom just got me was stolen. If memory serves me right it was the “second job $600 ps3” I was so upset and asked everyone around who did this. It was about 3 days later that I find out my “friend” stole it and sold it for weed. When I confronted him about it he said “yeah man we’ve been smoking it for the past two days” My question is have you ever been robbed? Happy day after 4/20!

Project - Wiehe

Hey CLC’s, Just like Ben can’t stop thinking about Wallace & Grommet — I can’t stop thinking about my favorite childhood game, Ooga Booga!! Have any of you played this masterpiece? The Dreamcast was my first console and I felt like it had some real hidden gems unlike any other games today... what is your experience with the Dreamcast like?

Janaris

I was happy to see Sony decision to keep the PS3 and PS Vita stores open. I know I don't buy many of these older games, but I do still like picking up a PS1 classic form time to time. What are some of your favorite 180 decisions made by console makers or developers? Are there any you would still like to see happen?

Jon Daczko

Is this how I submit questions for the show?? Sorry I'm new here lol just joined at the 5$ holla tier!!!
