What up FireMax? As we all know, Resident Evil has had plenty of weird and ridiculous moments. My question to the group is, is there a moment from any RE game where you felt it crossed the line of beyond ridiculous? If so, what was it (let's try to avoid talking about punching a boulder for this one, as I'm sure most of us agree that crossed a line)? Thanks, Dan

Avalon Shaw

Hello all, I just finished resident evil, and BOY, that game felt a lot like RE4. What are some of your favorite examples of spiritual successors to games? Bonus points if you don't mention Stardew Valley.

Hi Fire Maxers, The news that Toys For Bob is being moved to help out with Warzone has me nervous! Will they end up like Neversoft or Vicarious Visions? Will they end up like Raven Software or High Moon and just become another Activision support studio  #ToyForCOD ? What do you guys think? I hate that we may never see unique games form studios like: Toys For Bob, Vicarious Visions or Campo Santo again! Its alarming trend that has to be stopped ... please stop it ...

Thom Blackburn

When Nintendo eventually ports Labo for their next console, will the previous cardboard be incompatible? Will the new cardboard self-destruct after 6 months? I am genuinely interested in what off-the-wall stuff you think they would try in the future. Thanks, Thom

Wow, What a stacked crew this week! I was wondering what y'all thought about the observation that the longest running franchise has however many number of titles but the shortest running "franchise" is always going to be 1, right? Or does it then not become a franchise? When does a game franchise become a franchise? Does it have to do with marketability, does it have to have a certain number of games first? Otherwise we have a *lot* of ties for last place... :P

Hey gang, What is your favorite pice of behind the scenes content? Personally I love the making of the Phantom Menace documentary and the making of Halo 2 documentary that came with the steel book collectors edition. Keep up the great work guys!

Hey people! Game-date: You need to introduce yourself in 5 games. It doesn't need to be your favourite, but more influential ones from your gaming history which helped you define who you are today. If anyone who you talk to can relate or knows them you instantly feel a bond happening. Mine is: Transport Tycoon, Lucasart's Outlaws, Baldur's Gate, Freespace, Counter Strike 1.6 Wave from across the pond, RTz

Hi Ben and crew, I'm currently playing through RE Village and am loving it but am way more scared than any of the other RE games besides 7. Especially in Donna Beneviento's house, where there's no combat but just tense atmosphere and terrifying dolls. My question is, what sequences in games had you terrified because of the atmosphere or level design? Another instance I could think of is during Bioshock Infinite, I was terrified of the sequences where you visit an alternate timeline looking for Elizabeth. There wasn't much combat but the level design and atmosphere made it terrifying.

A week or two late on this one, but can we finally settle the debate and agree that Paddington 2 is the greatest work of art of all time?

Hello Friends O mine, I just finished playing Nier Replicant and loved the sibling relationship within the game. It has me thinking, what game has the best pair of siblings?

Justin Hughes

While listening to your interview with Stephen Totilo, he mentioned that game companies are sometimes "frustratingly secretive." Why do you think that is?

Hello Maxers and Escapists, what is an example of something you've seen or done in a game that has inspired you to be better in life? For me, recklessly running through the streets of Kamurocho as Kiryu in Yakuza 0 has inspired me to go running through my city in a similar (yet safer) fashion.

Brian W

If this stat was somehow tracked since the beginning of video games, what video game enemy would hold the record for most deaths?

DylanDuranged

What is something that you missed the opportunity to see live? Could be a concert, gaming reaction, etc. My favorite game is Banjo-Kazooie and I missed the announcement of their inclusion in Smash Ultimate because I was working at a Subway... 🙄

Forrest With Two Rs

What would you do if you went outside and there were as many wild animals roaming around as there are in Pokemon?

whitemex

Hey there MinnScapers Are we getting dumber? sorry to phrase the question so harshly but I've been noticing something for the past couple years and it seems to be more prevalent the last year or so. It's that my/others vocabulary seems to have dwindled and there's always a pause where I'm trying to remember what word I'm trying to use and I either fail and say something else or the person I'm speaking to says the word. I've noticed this happen in podcasts (ryckert most recently) and with coworkers/friends. Are we getting dumber or is it some sort of Baader–Meinhof phenomenon?

omanzo7

Hey minnmax crew, What is your most out there predication we will see during the E3 time frame this year? Any chance Starfield releases in the next 12 month?

CANT BLINK

With AC Valhalla, we get yet another game exploring Norse mythology. Alongside God of War and Immortals Fenyx rising, we also branch into Greek mythology. These 2 mythos are quite represented in today's games; what other mythologies would you like to see games explore? Personally, I'd love to see more into Aztec culture and mythology; their skull whistle alone can send shivers down my spine.

Hi Bennmax, Whenever I see the option to toggle vibration in a game, I always turn it off and on to see if it's one of the games that briefly make your controller rumble to show that the setting is on. IDK why I do this, but I can't stop. Do you lovely people have any specific gaming rituals or OCD related ticks?

Joshua Leemon

Is it just me it does the new color for the Switch lite look pretty dang GameCube-ish? Is this a nod that they are going to offer GameCube games soon?

Joshua Leemon

Are there any inside jokes or stories from the GI days that Mike, Dan and Ben could share?

Tim Lorow

Here's a question... What is the wildest thing you can imagine your listeners are doing while listening to this very podcast? Perhaps someone is doing exactly that!

Jonathan D

Hey Gang, Your favorite game of all time is now a dating sim. How do you win over the final boss?

PhoenixRouge

Hey Ben Hanson, MinnMaxers AND Fire Escape Crew! I don’t have a question, I’m just *SUPER* excited for this crossover! Will it be 3 hours long? Please be 3 hours long. Sincerely, Phoenix Rouge

Hello Hanson and Guests! What do you think your doppelganger is doing right now? Are they the evil one, or are you the evil one? Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

I was listening to the second episode of the Fire Escape Cast on my walk to work. As I was entering a more populated area of my walk, I get to the Pikachu butt portion of the cast and start hysterically laughing. With tears streaming down my face, soaking my mask, I nearly fall to my knees from being incredibly fatigued following my first vaccine dose. Those were a significant couple of minutes for me. It picked me up and helped to level out my rapidly declining emotional state. So thank you for that.

Last Friday we had a great turn out for the Splatoon 2 Community Game Night (quick plug for the awesome community in the MinnMax discord). There was a lot of house keeping with sharing Nintendo Switch friend codes, but we persevered and even ended up having enough people to have our own MinnMax lobby. As a whole, we ended up playing for over 6 hours (not counting dinner and other required breaks). At my stage in life (early 40’s), this was truly a rare event. When was the last time you were able to dedicate an entire night to playing games online with friends?

Ramses Garcia

Did you see epic wants Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo first party games on epic game store? Have you ever seen a company with such hubris?

Ryan Brister

Hello Ben and friends! I've been making my way through the Yakuza series over the last several months, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. What animal would be at the center of your elaborate Yakuza back tattoo?

Jeorin

Greetings all! Castlevania season 4 lands on Netflix the same day this episode hits YouTube! What other game(s) would you like to experience as a Netflix animated show?

Holden Hintz

If you could produce 5 different condiments out of your fingers, which five would you choose and what finger would you assign to each?

wittynicknamehere .

Hot take: Biomutant will be this year's A Plague Tale, in that it's a striking "double A" game which will pleasantly surprise everyone who engages with it, and in that Hanson will avoid it like it was one of those graphite rods on the reactor roof at Chernobyl.

Hey Ben and Fire Escape crew! Do you ever think about your posture while gaming? I’ve noticed myself having varied posture lately while playing completely different games. For intense, competitive games like Smash, I’m on the edge of my seat, leaning towards the screen. And for a slow, cozy single player game like Dragon Quest 11 I’m sitting back, sometimes even laying down on the couch just soaking in the vibes. Do any of you have different postures for different games or types of games? I loved the GOTY talks you made last year so I’m very excited for the podcast. Love & Respect! -Beeks

Hey Ben & the Fire Escape cohorts. As I sit here watching Knives Out for the 8th time, I had a thought If there was a dinner party in Princess Peaches castle and the next morning, a toad servant comes across Toadsworth dead. Who is the murderer during the dinner party? You can pick any of the mainline Mario characters as the murderer. Personally, I think it’s captain toad, he’s always tracking treasure and who has the biggest treasure of all then Toadsworth.

Hi MinnMax Escape Cast The PS5 is now 6 months old and still hard to find. The recent news from Sony is the PS5 is going to continue to be hard to find into 2022. When should I just give up on getting a regular PS5 and just wait for a PS5 Slim/Pro?

Jalopy Slow

Howdy to Ben, Mary, Dan & Mike! I've recently been re-watching the Adult Swim cartoon Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law, a show I was obsessed with in my younger years. The bombshell realization I've had is just how often I still use phrasing & tonation from that show over 20 years later! My question for y'all is: has there been any show, movie, musician or art that has influenced the way you personally speak to this day? Simpsons & South Park don't count. Dive deep! Thanks! And keep Maxing those Minns.

Stephen Suminguit

Hi to Mary and the Crew, Did you find RE VIII scary? Do all RE games have to be scary to be successful? Would RE VIII be a better game if it was scarier? I've played a couple hours of RE VIII on the Series X, and I haven't read or watched any of the reviews. One of the first things I noticed is that compared to RE VII, it wasn't scary at all. Whereas in RE VII I felt alone, helpless and hesitant to explore the house, in RE VIII I'm eagerly trudging through the snow, curious to see what happens next. I think one of the reasons for this is that the game doesn't really give you time to dwell on a feeling of helplessness. Almost immediately, you're equipped with a gun and soon after a lot of money to buy bullets. Another reason too is that you have more people to talk to from the get-go. It's been nice to take a moment and hangout with the Duke. Also, how scary can a game be if you're held captive by three sisters and their 9ft mom?

Hello Ben and Guests! My 13 yo son and I are flying to visit my brother for the first half of summer. This is only possible because my employer is still “work from home” for many and I am being allowed to work remotely during this time. With a few exceptions, most weekdays will consist of my son needing to hang around the house until work is over. As such, we are bringing an Xbox Series X with us. This is where I need advice. Assuming most, if not all, on the show today have traveled on an airline with a console due to your professions. I am extremely nervous about taking this and 3 controllers due to the amount of money, time, and luck it took to acquire one from a retailer. Any advice for traveling with a (large) console? I have all original boxes/packing and can re-pack but that is bulky. Considered doing that for controllers only while bringing the console in my carry-on. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks,

Bob Buel

Howdy Hanson and the Fire Escapists! Look at the crew on the podcast amongst you today. If you were playing a 4 player video game against each others, which game are each of you sure you can win? Thanks Love both podcasts! Keep em up Bob Buel

It's Hugo's Nook

Hey there lovely CLCs! I have a simple question: is there a game that ever inspired you to simply be better? Not necessarily be better at the game itself but through it's themes, gameplay or narrative inspired you to make a life change - big or small - for the better?

Rickfromatlanta

Hi all, I was wondering if all the hero characters from 80s and 90s were dropped on an island hunger games style who would come out on top. For this question we are considering characters not actors so Rambo and Cobra count as two entirely different entries even though they are both Stallone. Thank you for everything you do fire escape podcast rocks and it taught me how to not escape from a fire on the first podcast.

Hello Ben & Friends! I’ve connected with Returnal in a way that I haven’t since Grand Theft Auto IV. The gameplay is so addicting, but I’m crestfallen that some gamers won’t give it a chance because of the price tag. What’s a game you love that may never be widely lauded, and why do you think people should people give it a shot?

PhillyYeetSteak

Hello fire escapers! What are your go-to gaming snacks? Something that wont make a mess and wont gunk up my controllers. I gots ta know.

YARF

The amount of abuse that Ethan’s hands go through... at some point it becomes almost CONSPICUOUS. If he were to get rescued, but he had his hands in his pocket, they may even comment how it was a miracle how unscathed he was, until they saw the gnarled, twisted, stumps dangling from his wrists. As I play, at any given point, I’m constantly looking for threats to his hands. Has any video game character’s hands suffered more than his?

Jason Wojnar

Hello Minn to the Maxers, When you were younger, how did you divide gaming time among siblings? For me and my brother we had our alternating days to play. If for some reason we could not play at all on our day to play, then we would switch them to be fair and not give either one of us 3 or more consecutive days of exclusive gaming time. Additionally, sometimes we'd agree to play multiplayer all day and give the person the next day to play as well. This went on until we were probably about 14 and 17 years old respectively and we just organically got more respectful of each other's time. We've lived separately now for almost four years but still game all the time from across the world Love From Kyiv, Jason Wojnar

Mark Polley

Hi CLC's! Resident Evil 7 hid the roman numeral in the eVII. Resident Evil 8 hid it in the VILLage. I think its fair to assume Resident Evil 9 will follow the same convention. My question to you is, how do you think they will fit the IX into the title, what subtitle will the game have containing IX?

Tanner Methven

Hey Minnmax Crew, Since you brought up long running series, I’ve put together a little trivia game with some random facts about these old franchises. I included multiple choice but if it works better to have everyone shout out the answers (except for the last one) then that’s great! Love the show, Tanner Methven What is the first video game to get a cereal? A. Pac-Man B. Donkey Kong (correct) C. Asteroids D. Space Invaders When adapted to a cartoon, which title character was paired with a motorcycle riding greaser named Bones? A. Pac-Man B. Frogger C. Q-Bert D. Donkey Kong Jr (correct) It’s likely no surprise that Mario was the first video game franchise to get a happy meal tie in. What was the second? A. Pac-Man B. Donkey Kong Country C. Street Fighter D. Sonic the Hedgehog (correct) While promoting the new Mortal Kombat film, the writer, Greg Russo, confirmed that this other adaptation of a classic video game is still alive and in development at Warner Bros: A. Pac-Man B. Frogger C. Galaga D. Space Invaders (correct) Shin Megami Tensei took a while to come to the West. On what platform did it make its western debut? A. Sega Saturn B. Virtual Boy (correct, as a top-down action spinoff called Jack Bros) C. 3DO D. Sega 32x Which video game franchise had the shortest amount of time between the releases of the original game and the theatrical adaptation: A. Resident Evil B. Tomb Raider (correct, just under 5 years, the other choices took 6-7) C. Super Mario Bros D. Street Fighter

Some of the most jarring moments in New Pokemon Snap are when the Pokémon are eating each other (Pigeot and Magikarp, wingull and fineon, frillish and magikarp, etc). If you lived in the pokemon world where would you draw the line on what Pokémon you would eat? I mean, I *think* I could eat a milktank but it would be really hard to chow down on, like, an espeon.

Sean Mason

Het CLC’s, During lunch, a group of my seventh graders play the game ”would you rather?”, one question that a student asked got me thinking about what the MinnMaxx crew would say. So, would you rather sing everything you say or never be able to talk again? Best, Sean M.

Fred Dinovo

Howdy, Do you have any mundane activities that you associate with a particular album/song(s)? For example, I can't look at a spreadsheet without thinking of the FFVII Remake soundtrack because that's what I listen to when filling them out at work. J-E-N-O-V-A? More like E-X-C-E-L
