Hello people of the internet! What do you think about the portrayal of pets in videogames? Do you find it fun to have these furry companions along the ride? Do you wish there were more of these companion? And in the case of games like fable or fallout, is it sometimes violent or unneccessary? Thanks I like colorful SOCKS

Hey CLCs! Everyone talks about the big reveals and big trailers when it comes to E3. But what's the most underrated part of E3 that you all don't think gets enough attention?

Steven Lambson

It’s time to play MinnMAx Feud! The MinnMax Discord Community was polled and it’s your job to guess which “Video Game Developer” the community thinks is the best! Start play with a free for all, whoever buzzes in first with their name gets to start. The first cohort to guess which developers made the list gets the points and gets to guess again, if they guess wrong the next person gets to go. So who are the 7 best Developers according to the MinnMax community? Answers in link. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dn-rSIPKgRnQHICYwIm7Q5gUF7eziriVx2luxfUt3X4/edit?usp=sharing

Howdy BJJL, Things in the US are opening up more now, so time to discuss what all you were able to binge/complete (movies, books, TV series, games, etc). What's something you "got through" during these unprecedented times? Chernobyl and Devs are the highlights for me.  Thanks!

Jordan Brown

Hey y'all! What are the odds we see Monolith Soft's next game at E3? And is it most likely another Xeno game or do you think we'll get a new IP?

Forrest With Two Rs

What are some basic enemies or even bosses that you saw and thought, "I want to know more about them"?

Doctorok

What are some video game franchises or genres that you want to like but just can't seem to get into?

Victor Pham

Why are gamers against "politics" in games? Isn't art, as an expression of its creators' perspectives and views, inherently "political"? If games are to be taken seriously, should they not also be subject to the same level of criticism as "high" art like films or books?

Old Dad Hands

Hello Jabronies. All this wacky Nintendo "Switch Pro" rumors has me thinking. Why would Nintendo make another console when the Switch is selling so dang well? - Jacob formally of Minnesota.

AnAttackCorgi

Hello fellow Corgi Loving Cohorts! My first question is about Far Cry 6's "political" stance. I'm skeptical Ubisoft can actually pull it off. After Rainbow 6 Patriots was shelved, and Far Cry 5 didn't touch politics with a 10-foot pole, I doubt Ubisoft wants to actually try; this is just an advertising scheme. My second question: Do you remember what moment your favourite game became your favourite game? For me, Mass Effect's Citadel reveals scene hits hard, and that's when ME1 became my all-time. Adios till next time, AnAttackCorgi

Josh64

Hey CLCs! With Guerrilla showing off Horizon 2 this last week and proving again how amazingly talented they are in the visual department, I want to know, what was the last game your were BLOWN AWAY by visually? It could’ve had a striking/unique art style or maybe someone’s face just looked really real. The criteria doesn’t matter, just what was the game?

Mike Sweet

Hey! I'm convinced video games will never end BUT, do you think you'll be alive when the final game in the following series release? By final, I mean FINAL. Pretend there's no chance of a reboot 30 years after you leave us. A simple yes or no is good enough for me but, feel free to explain you thoughts on any of them. Dragon Quest Final Fantasy Mario Sonic Halo The Elder Scrolls Smash Bros

A few months ago, Ben's GALOT was a Spanish podcast called podcast Reload. I've been listening to it for a few months now and it's really interesting to hear the subtle and sometimes huge differences in what is considered appropriate banter. One of the hosts has a thing for making analogies and insults related to poop. In one episode he spent like a minute describing different kinds of poop and none of the other hosts stopped him or were caught off guard; it was as if this was just part of the discord. In another he hurled an insult which basically translates to "dry poop." And that's when I remember that in certain part of Spain they have a patron saint of poop named "Caganer." Look it up. But It just made me wonder about what do you consider appropriate kind of discord, do you draw the line somewhere? Are there regional things you guys talk about that others might not understand? P.s. They like Minnmax, they said "Minnmax es muy bueno."

Aaron U

Hello everyone, Realistically, what can we expect from the next gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077? For the sake of the company and franchise, can they afford the release that game as anything other than polished? Will people even care by then? I feel like it's their only chance to change the conversation on it.

Harrison Holt

Hello Minnmax, By sheer luck, I managed to buy an Xbox Series X physically from a store a few weeks ago. I’m loving playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition, but the first game I saw through to completion was Skate 3, via backwards compatibility, via Gamepass, in 4K at a silky 60fps. It’s really amusing to me that the first game I completed embodies a lot about what the console is. I wonder, do any of the panel have some interesting “first games” on consoles they’ve bought over the years? Cheers, Harrison

Milk Bradley

What's up, fam? What was a cool tattoo to have of a game around when it came out, but is now very much not as cool? Best example I have is maybe F.E.A.R? Kingdom hearts 3?

Travis Brinkley

Hey MinnMax, What are your guys’ thoughts on Knack?

PoorAndCurly

Hey Maxer Minns! What currently living person do you believe has lived the most interesting life? By whatever parameters that means to you. I think of someone like Werner Herzog, who has just experienced so many aspects of the world, and a boundless supply of crazy stories to tell.

MouseRat

I'm stealing a question from Hanson's interview with Stephen Totillo, but I would love to hear the cohorts answers. What is the most clickable gaming news headline you can imagine? I would say either "Microsoft acquires Nintendo" or "GTA 6 is out... RIGHT NOW"

Allistair

Hiya MinnMax, The cast of Mario is dropped off at the mall on a Friday night. Who is going to what store? Is Bowser going to Great American Cookie? Is Toad going to buy some weed outside Sam Goody?? I must know!

Conner McCabe

Hey cool cats! What are some pieces of art/media that you all hold in your back pocket for moments when you’re feeling particularly down or stuck? I just watched Bo Burnham’s new Netflix special “Inside” that he wrote/shot/composed/and edited himself and it was very inspiring and felt so freeing to watch. Some others for me are Tim Robinson’s “I think you should leave”, Jeff Rosenstock’s album “2020”, and Vonnegut’s “The Sirens of Titan”. Do any of you have songs, movies, games, shows, or books like this that you’ll revisit to get “unstuck”? Thanks!

Taylor Clark

Hey guys with all the remakes coming out what would you like to see remade/ remastered for example i would love to see witcher 1/2 remade

Stephen Suminguit

Hey Crew, With three new Sonic games (Colors Ultimate, Sonic Origins, Sonic 2022) announced for consoles, what did the Sonic games mean to you growing up? What makes for a great Sonic game today? I was always more of a Mario kid because I found it easier to understand. Looking at Sonic games today, I admire them for not being another Mario clone, and for their emphasis on speed to create a unique style of gameplay.

KiwiTheGoo

Hey CLCs! So we are all familiar with the giants of gaming genres, you got your RPGs, your Fighting games, Strategy games, etc. These simple concepts bundle hugely different games like Final Fantasy 6 and Skyrim in the same bucket. What I want to know is what is the most specific, non-existent subgenre you like? The more specific and weird the better. I'll explain with an example: Some of my favorite games are Vagrant Story, Dark Souls, and the classic Resident Evils. So my favorite specific subgenre is "Western Stories Viewed Through a Japanese Lens". Pope and dagger, knights and dragons, zombie outbreaks, these games all come mostly from western ideas but made by Japanese talent at Square, FromSoft and Capcom. It's a unique perspective that always impacts me. Thanks for hearing me out! Brian

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and the crew, What's your favorite entry in a series that does not feature the main protagonists? My personal favorite is Halo: ODST, playing as the Rookie, being a trained soldier but not Master Chief was a great change of pace. Being afraid of brutes and elites was an amazing experience.

IanTClark

Hey...a little help please. I don’t understand exactly what Reddit is. Everyone always talks about sub-Reddits and what not. Please explain to me what this thing is.

Clint Farley

Hey MinnMax crew, When Far Cry 5 was announced, people in the games media ran with their own narrative that it was about Trump’s America, so much so it was to the detriment of the game with most saying “it didn’t do enough” even though that’s not what it was trying to do in the first place. Do you think that Navid Khavari coming out now saying that Far Cry 6 isn't a political statement on the current state of Cuba, but WILL make political statements otherwise, is a direct response to get ahead of the games media from constructing their own narrative again?

YARF

E3... while I never attended E3, as I live in Northern CA, I went to Anime Expo for the 4 day event every year since 2012(before covid cancelled it) and it is held in the exact same entertainment halls in L.A. as E3 I have wallowed in the same sweaty, human infested halls, waiting in lines, shoot’n the sh*t with fellow weirdos and friends just as you E3 attendees have. We saw the same things, breathed the same oppressively hot air... Pretty intimate... ANYWAYS, should I tell my wife that as a grown man I attended an anime convention with old friends of 14 years, to obtain autographs from other humans that voice acted fictional drawn characters that are not real?

Christopher C. Castillo

Howdy, all! Every year around E3 (and later the Game Awards) I make the same prediction and every time I have been wrong. Maybe if you read it out loud it'll come true this time! I say "This year Ken Levine has to reveal whatever he's been working on." Seriously, it's been almost a decade and Ghost Story hasn't so much as revealed a logo! Do you think this is the year we finally find out what they've been up to? Will I finally be right? Will my friends finally stop rolling their eyes at the statement? Also! What do you think are the chances we get a teaser for the upcoming Bioshock title in development by Cloud Chamber? One can dream! Thanks and happy June! Your friend from Texas and World's #1 Bioshock Fan™, Christopher C. Castillo

G'day Minnmaxeroos Do you remember excite truck on the wii allowed you to listen to music of your choice while racing. All you had to do was upload songs onto an sd card and presto you had your own tailor made soundtrack. My brother and I loved this feature and would try and surprise each other with new weird songs every play session. I seem to recall there was another wii game that had this feature as well that involved deep sea diving. Anyway my question is why is this feature not used in any games today and do you think it would be a welcome addition. I could imagine integration with Spotify and other music services to make this feature even more convenient in modern gaming. Thanks

ddark

Has there been a game that you could never beat as a child, that you were finally able to conquer as an adult? For me, it’s the PC god game Black & White. Last year, I made my younger self proud and saw the end of it for the first time.

Tanner Hoisington

Hi guys. Pick which is more interesting to answer: - What was the first unique art style in a game that stood out to you? (For me it's Hotel Dusk on the DS) - What are some of your favorite unique art styles in games over the years? (For me Obra Dinn and Hohokum are sticking out for some reason)

RiskyChrisP

Hi MinnMax! I recently moved, and while unpacking I was reminded that I have way more video game and Disney art than the average person would probably consider acceptable. What’s your favorite piece of art or decoration you own?

Tanner Methven

Hey Minnmax Crew, When do you do dishes? Like do you clean everything and put in the dishwasher or drying rack immediately after eating or do you needlessly let them sit in the sink for a while? I’m curious to know which Minnmaxer would be a great roommate and which I could not stand to live with. Thanks! - Tanner Methven (Ben you can pronounce the first part of my last name as “meth” like methamphetamine. I assume you always make it “met” like the H shouldn’t be there to be polite, but it’s okay, my last name does indeed sound like a “Meth Van”)

Troy Ellison

Hey CLCs, It feels like a common sentiment that E3 is something like a holiday for the gaming community to celebrate and get hyped for new games on the horizon. So my question for you this week is if e3 was a legitimately recognized holiday, where would you rank it against the classics? Would love to hear your rankings!

Jalopy Slow

Hello to all Maximum Minners! Do any of you have a specific button re-map that you apply to every game that lets you do so? My personal example is that if any game has a "Dash" option I slap that sucker onto the left bumper ASAP. Being able to still aim while moving as quickly as possible is a frequent game-changer (I'm lookin at you Doom Eternal & Returnal). Thanks!

Morne

Hey Minnmaxers!, my question is for everyone. What is your opinion on gaming journalists hosting video game events? Do you think it is appropriate for individuals to write reviews for games after they are essentially on the payroll of the developer/publisher? I have been thinking about this a lot with the announcement of Greg Miller as the host of E3.

Brian W

Switch pro? More like switch no show, am I right? Are we going to see a new Miyamoto game at this E3 and if not will we ever get a new Miyamoto game? He seems to be in a different role at Nintendo these days that is less about creating and more about advising.

Jason Wojnar

Hello Minnimaxers, Has a game ever prompted you to make changes in your real life? After playing MGS 5 I made a greater effort to start learning Spanish because of its themes about language's connection to culture. It also got me interested in other languages in general and now I'm fluent in Ukrainian and can understand most Russian With love from Ukraine, Jason Wojnar

SassyLuchador

Hello beautiful Minnmaxers Dubbed or Subbed ? when playing a JRPG I sometimes prefer dubbed because the dialogue can be cheesey in these types of games and I like my cheesenies with extra dubbed cheese

TheUnchartedWolf

What's up minnmax squad. I wanted to ask you guys if there was ever a Character in a game that you remember not really liking, but grew to love over time. For me, I didn't really care for legion when I first played Mass Effect 2, but playing through the game again, including my first playthrough of 3, he might be one of my favorite squadmates.

Austin S

Hello CLCs, With E3 right around the corner, what is the biggest surprise announcement that would make you scream in excitement? In retrospect, what E3 announcement has been the most surprising or favorite of yours?

Hootz

Howdy y'all. Here's a dumb question. Squall's gun blade in Final Fantasy 8: is it cool, or is it lame?

Sean Mason

Hey CLCs I have a fun story to tell you about one of my students. I took my honors students outside to observe nature. Afterwards, I told them to think about what they have just seen and jot down some of their thoughts. For homework, they were tasked with writing a haiku about nature. For the most part, I was impressed with their writing. But, one student had the audacity to give me this: Stillness of one’s mind A lone pebble alters fate Rising from the depths On the surface it seems great, but it seemed a bit familiar to me. So I took to the internet. Come to find out it’s a haiku from Ghost of Tsushima. I’ve seen plagiarism, but plagiarism from a video game is a first. My question: Do you have any funny stories about plagiarism from when you were in school? Not necessarily something that you did, but memories from other students or friends being caught? Best, Sean M

Styster

Hey CLC's! With E3 just around the corner and the excitement building, what are some surprise announcements from the past that stuck with you? What have been some of the best out-of-left-field reveals game companies have done? Thanks! Styster

Brendan

Hey Everyone! When it comes to character customization, do you prefer a game to have less options for customization but more realistic movement, or deep customization with stiffer animation? What games do you feel tow the line between character customization options and fluid animation? Love, Brendan B.

Erin T.

Hey cohorts! Just a reminder that *6 months* after release, Cyberpunk 2077 is still not available on the PlayStation Store. A friend of mine who recently got back into gaming (but doesn’t follow gaming news) picked up a PS5 digital edition, and Cyberpunk was at the top of his ‘must-play’ list. As someone who didn’t really know much about the drama surrounding Cyberpunk, he’s confused and disappointed that he’s unable to purchase the game at all for his new console. Having to explain the situation to my friend, who up until now had really only heard “Cyberpunk plays perfectly fine on the new consoles!” really bummed me out, because he was so excited for it. I get the feeling that the experience kind of deflated his excitement about getting back into games, and that’s a shame. Did Sony make the right call? Has CD Projekt Red been too relaxed in their reaction?

Gooseberry

Hello you gang of rascals, What have been the most addicting fighting games you have played? I recently been hitting dragón ball fighterz and the combat and animation are keeping me hooked. I feel like if I can’t get a hang of the combos, I usually bounce of these types of games but DBF is really hitting my g spot (goku spot). Have a good one party people

CANT BLINK

Hey Cohorts! With the recent Naomi Osaka French Open controversy, I have a question specifically for you guys who are both stars AND journalists. The French Open, just like the NFL and many other sports organizations, require their stars to be open to interviews. Have you ever felt snubbed by someone who refused an interview? Would you expect penalties for saying "no" to an interview? Do you think interviews should be required in contracts at all? I just think you guys might have a different point of view from myself, so I want to hear what you think! Thanks!
