Hello all. I love JRPGs but most of them have at least one enemy or boss that is just cheap and somewhat unfair. For me, it was a boss in Dragon Quest XI. The boss was Tatsunaga. The cheap thing about him is that he gets 3 turns in a row right at the start of the battle and his normal claw attack does damage and reduces your defence everytime it hits you. On one of my tries to fight him he immediately attacked my healer and was able to kill them before I even got a turn. It took me several tries to defeat this boss. Can you guys think of an enemy in a game that felt cheap or unfair? Love the show. Craig from Tampa.

In 2032 when the final installment of Final Fantasy 7 remake is released, do you think we'll get an abridged collection that cuts out the padding or will we have to play a 300 hour game to experience the entire story from start to finish?

j0

Hello people of the internet! Do you have a game you bounce back to between playing other games? Example: my wife and I always seem to go back to Minecraft between beating one game and starting a new one. Cool thanks! PS Hanson: the socks thing is not an inside joke. I just like 'em.

Doreen Ford

Hey CLCs! What lesser known game was your favorite shown off during this years E3 season? What was your favorite conference overall and why?

Matthew Paxton

Hey MinnMax Cast and Crew, In a Parallel Universe, there exists a Nintendo which decided to remake "Zelda II: Adventure of Link," in order to hold over the fans until the Breath of the Wild Sequel. This Parallel Direct had all the things you wanted in the new "Adventure of Link," remake, but what were they? Was it a pixelated art style, or one like the new "Link's Awakening"? Did they update the magic meter to be more like current Zelda's? All of this is to say, "If Nintendo made a Remake of "Adventure of Link," what would you want in it?

Jeeo Banogy

Hey Ben and Horts! What type terrain do you most enjoy moving through in video games? Do you enjoy walking across pebbly gravel or maybe the soft crunch of fall-like leaves on the ground? Anybody enjoy the plopping through deep mud? Just curious!

Critical Kate

I'm excited that we're getting both a new 2D and 3D Metroid installment on the Switch. Do you prefer the 2D games or the 3D games? And what's your all-time favorite Metroid game?

Ryan Jones

What are your thoughts on the proliferation of co-op shooters dominating the FPS space? R6 Extraction, Redfall, and others look great but they seem to fall into the same category as live service games in that they are potentially huge time investments and require a readily available group of friends. As someone with a pretty busy work schedule, this really hinders my ability to get the most out of these games, let alone justify the purchase price even if I really want to play.

Marshall Banana

Hey Ben and the CLC’s! This week during the Metal Slug Tactics announcement someone (I forgot who) said “I hope it eventually comes to Switch, because that’s a perfect Switch game” since, as of now, it’s PC only. What does that mean when a game is a “perfect Switch game” and what is the ultimate top 5 ranking of “perfect Switch games”?

Geoff Enright

Hey everyone including my nemesis JeffM, I was thinking the other day about the chefs kiss demonstrative, and wondering which is the right way to do it? 1st way - point all 5 fingers from 1 hand, kiss while dramatically opening away 2nd way - touch thumb and forefinger from 1 hand and fan out the other 3, kiss only the two fingers while dramatically opening away Love the content! - Geoff aka Groffles

Fenrir

Hello Ben & Kyle & Janet & Sarah, I just completed a Natural Magic play-through of FFVI and enjoyed the mechanical magic this fan challenge brought to the game. Do you enjoy fan challenges and self-imposed limitations? Are there any that you have completed or would like to try someday? Sincerely, Fenrir

Prediction question: Which game will move the stale open-world genre forward in a more meaningful way (or at all), BOTW 2 or Elden Ring?

Chuck Kirby

Hey MMers, hope you are well. Do you think we (the collective we) have gotten spoiled as we have progressed through console generations? While the majority lambasted them, my most played games for many months were Avengers and Cyberpunk 2077 (PS4 Pro). Maybe as an oldster (playing games since Pong) I just get the added benefit of being able to appreciate how far we’ve come? I’m not dismissing the criticisms of these or any other games. I just find I have to take those criticisms in, try to reserve judgement and decide for myself. Some of my favorite games just don’t line up with majority opinion. It just seems a shame that so many people seem to miss opportunities to find what might be their favorites due to (jaded) majority perceptions.

My dudes. That Nintendo Direct was wild. I think I'm just as excited as I am disappointed after watching it. We're getting a new metroid, a Mario party with (what APPEARS to be) proper online functionality, several same day release ports, and a big sale on several games that are on my wishlist. But even still, we got no news on metroid prime 4, no confirmation of a switch pro, the smash reveal felt lackluster, and even the breath of the wild reveal was undercut by its own release date. Do you guys feel the same? Am I being a child? Can you think of any other time you've been this excited and disappointed all at once?

micspam

Now that what was formally E3 week has concluded,, have we just witnessed the death of the semi-public E3 vertical slice game demos? As a layperson, one of the most obnoxious things about E3 week was seeing dozens of outlets and influencers talk about "behind closed doors" game demos where footage wasn't allowed to be captured, but they were allowed to talk about how cool what they saw or played was. Obviously, embargoed/ "no footage" demos will never go away, but considering how much developers discuss hating the E3 demo crunch, will this practice soon be a thing of the past? Happy Jeff Keighly's Summer of Gaming running concurrently to E3 everyone!

Matthew Porter

Hey Ben and the Cohorts, Time for a game shuffle! The rules are simple: below is a list of games in pairs, and you must shuffle one of them. When you shuffle a game, the development studio, team, budget, release date, etc. will all stay the same, but the end result will be something completely different. You’re essentially erasing one game (including sequels) to see what else that team could have created. The list of games is: Bioshock Infinite or Destiny 2 Uncharted 4 or TLOU2 Cyberpunk 2077 or Anthem Breath of the Wild or Metal Gear Solid 1 Are there any other games that you would “shuffle” if given the chance? Thanks all! Matt from Southern California

Bryce

Hey MinnMaxers, happy E3! I hope this question doesn't come across as a downer but it was disappointing for me to see everything announced at the Microsoft showcase. I mean I'm happy for all the xbox players who are finally getting some console exclusives but the fact they're making Bethesda properties exclusive is tough to see. I love Skyrim and basically anything Arkane produces so with Starfield and Redfall being xbox only I feel left out. PS5 is getting deathloop and it's certainly not a way on street (Sony owns sunset overdrive anyone?) But Microsoft now owning properties and studios I played and fell in love with on playstation is a tough pill to swallow. I'm certainly not trying to say it isn't fair. Buying Bethesda was not just smart business but a real win for xbox gamers and I'm happy for them. I guess my question is am I being ridiculous or are a lot of people going to feel burned by this? Thanks for all you guys do, keep it up!

One One

Loved the E3 coverage. What’s something you picked up in a non-gaming podcast that influence your podcasting?

RevRando

Hey Everyone! So I hope Kyle doesn’t hunt me down predator style but I was pretty disappointed by the Nintendo E3 event for one reason... where is our Zelda “All Stars Collection”? Seems like a slam dunk to bring the remastered versions of Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker to the Switch. Do you think it will ever happen? In the words of Jerry Seinfeld, “What’s the Deal?”

Clint Farley

Hey MinnMax Crew, hope you’re all doing well. Have you ever played a game that made you want to learn more about a subject? For example when I finished the Battlefield 1 campaign when it came out I didn’t know too much about WWI, since they kinda gloss over it in school. I immediately binged Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History series “Blueprint for Armageddon” and was fascinated by it. I even got a series of books about the rise and fall of the Weimar Republic after the war. At this point I know more about WWI than WWII. I’ll leave the examples at that so I don’t take anyone else’s answer. Thanks, and happy E3.

PhillyYeetSteak

How do you all separate your work and personal lives? For me, i have a separate phone for work, which makes it easy for me to disconnect and switch mindsets. How do you do it when your job and your interests overlap so much (especially during E3)?

Ryan Brister

Hello MinnMax! With the big reveals of E3 (probably?) done, what are your three most anticipated games for this fall? Mine would be Forza Horizon 5, Lost Judgment, and the new WarioWare game

MyNameIsDan

Could one of you please call someone up and ask them to do their best Wario impression?

G-Max Thoeren

Am I playing video games wrong? So many games these days have effects like motion blur and film grain that are pretty... but feel totally unconducive to actually *playing* the game. I tend to whip the camera around like a maniac to get different vistas and making sure I'm not missing any items, but for games like Days Gone where you can't turn off the motion blur, this is just a quick way to give yourself motion sickness. Do most people only move the camera when they absolutely have to look a different direction, or is this just what (some) game devs think they do?

Sean Dunn

Hey all fantastic coverage of E3 really loved the pre game content and the check ins after the conferences. So I wanted to check in on flight sim. I really want to get a hotas setup for it for the series x but it just doesn't seem to be an option. My question is why have game pad accessories gone away? Weight get a fight stick here and there but steering wheels are gone and same for flight sticks. Thanks for weighting in can't wait for the show.

RickyWinterborn

what are your most specific nit picks with otherwise amazing reveals from E3? some of mine were BTOW 2 looking largely identical graphically to 1, the advance wars remaster redesigning the character art when it really was flawless in the original style and the hair tech in eldin ring, it was the only thing that stood out to be as blocky/last gen.

Luciano Comassetto

What is your minimum acceptable review score (when scored 0-100)? When you see a game that you were kind of curious about, but it didn't do well critically, what's the number that would make you say "meh... guess it isn't worth it"? Also, is a bug flying into a window the equivalent of an invisible wall in a game?

Donnie

Hey friends! So now that digital E3 is over, how would you compare this format to prior years? I know it can be tough to compare because we care about the reveals, but what do you think you missed about “old school” E3, and how did this year’s formula improve? Did Summer Games Fest have a note-worthy difference that you think will have an impact on future years?

James Ford

Hello CLCs. Where are we up to with Early Access? Do you personally jump in or wait? It seems like most of the success stories have been roguelites or survival games. Baldurs Gate 3 has also been one to watch but seems to have fallen off considering the hype around it. Do we think we have a recipe for success with Early Access and it only suits certain genres, or are we still finding out what works?

william hittle

I recently started working at a data entry job, and so I've been crashing through all the old MinnMax podcasts at work. In the last month, I've re-listened to every MinnMax show and MinnTrax/Crossfade (which is super good, by the way, and everyone who hasn't checked it out yet absolutely needs to). When rumors of what Nintendo would present at E3 came up, I found myself screaming something I've said repeatedly over the last year and a half of podcasts: The Switch-Pro is never going to come out, folks. The Metroid Prime trilogy and Switch-Pro are lies we all wanted to believe so much that we convinced ourselves they were true. Nintendo will never do what "makes sense"; they'll do what they want, when they want, which is why we're getting a remake of Skyward Sword, not an HD port of Windwaker or Twilight Princess. Do those other things make sense? Yes. But that's exactly why they won't happen. Does a new Wario Ware game make sense? I don't think so, and that's exactly why we got it. So what off-the-wall-and-totally-crazy-and-therefore-totally-going-to-happen predictions do you have for Nintendo next year? I'm personally hoping for a dowloadable bundle of the Lufia games, or at least of Lufia 1 and 2 from the SNES, because my cartridges are finally losing battery power and can't hold a save anymore. I may be the only one out there looking for those games from Nintendo, but that's why it's just crazy enough to happen!

Jake Z

Since all of you seem to have Game Pass while playing games across multiple platforms, do you feel like you're getting your money's worth every month or do you go months without playing Game Pass stuff because you're playing stuff elsewhere that you bought?

Sean Mason

Hey CLC’s, I don’t understand how Bethesda can commit to a release date for Starfield. We have barely seen anything, yet they are confident on an exact release. At this point, I don’t think anybody working on the game can honestly say the game will be ready by November 11, 2022. Why wouldn’t they just say coming in the future? Now, if they have to move the date, it will be seen as a disappointment. Heck, even Halo does not have an official release date, and that is “coming out this year”. I just think Bethesda is setting themselves up for scrutiny from their fans if it is delayed. Best, Sean M.

Kenneth Valentine

Hello MinnMaxers! You are enemies in an game world with item crafting. To create a specific item for a quest, the titular hero of the game needs to strike you down over and over in the hope you drop the item they are farming. What item would you be known for dropping?

Stephen Suminguit

Hey Crew, What did you think of the collection of games from Prime Matter? Which do you think will be the most popular?

Cath

Two years ago everyone was Saying E3 was dead. Then last year people Missed it because of its cancellation due to Covid. With what you saw this year, do you think E3 is still about to die or the reshaping they had to go under rebirthed it?

Sage

Hello all What was the biggest surprise of the announcements and what do you think could be done better

blacklink firelink

You work in marketing at a respectable game studio, and you have been tasked with putting on a 40 minute presentation at E3. Unfortunately, you don’t have ANY games coming out within the next year, and the games you are working on look really bad and boring! What’s your plan of action to make it through your E3 presentation with your studio’s reputation intact? Celebrity appearances? Developer interviews? Completely fabricated, misleading CGI trailers? What’s your best attempt at keeping the internet from eating you alive?

Michael Poe

What do you want from Breath of the wild 2? It looks cool. but I want the fighting to have a point, other than wearing down my weapons. Actual dungeons or at least the shrines to look different from each other. And the exploring to actually lead to something that isn't a lame korok seed. How can they improve the not best game ever made? PS- I enjoyed the first game, just bitter about some things with it.

Zach Killian

Hello MinnMax! Now that E3 is over, are there any games or series you always hope will get announced or shown? Every year I hold out a little bit of hope that Ubisoft will announce a new Splinter Cell game.

Jason Wojnar

In school there were a ton of Resident Evil fans in my class. They were all excited when Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was announced and I was extremely cautious and not hyped in the slightest. The game come out and almost the next day everyone comes to school disappointed. What's a time in your life when everyone was hyped for a big release and your skepticism proved to be the right call?

Andrew Rennolds

Hi All, With 2022 having more and more big games whats your early prediction for game of the year 2022 with God of War Ragnarok, Breath of the Wild 2 and Elden Ring all already confirmed?

Hunter Sax

Hey hi hello, As I proud Sony pony, I have to say Xbox has gotten my attention for the first time in a good long while. I love Halo and Elder Scrolls. What's a better showcase? One that gives us what we want,(Elden Ring, Botw 2) or one that gets new people on board? Botw2 made me lose my mind, yet Xbox might have gotten a new customer out of me.

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! Can we get a little discussion on the hottest E3 news that no one is talking about? The release of the Atari VCS. This thing has zero hype and the $300 to $400 price tag creates a steep barrier to entry, but hey, at least it’s in stock! Not to be too negative, but how long until this goes the way of the Jaguar?

Zachary Sweet

Hey Cohorts, Now that we have confirmation the Mario Game & Watch wasn't a one-off, what is a series that you would like to see get represented? I think my dream scenario is one that comes with Tetris and Dr Mario.

It's Hugo's Nook

Hello E3 Loving Cohorts! This time of year we get super pumped about trailers and game reveals but we never really talk about TITLE reveals. There was a lot of talk regarding the title of Breath of the Wild's sequel, but I argue no matter what the title is, it wouldn't have been nearly as big as the impact of Nintendo resurrecting the name "Metroid Dread" right? So in that vein, what's been your favorite title reveal (this E3 or ever, up to you!)

Jonathan Wright

Hey, MinnMaxers! When you think of E3, what moment do you think of? What does E3 look like in your head?

MickManga

So what was everyone's favorite E3 surprise? I know for myself I was very happy to see so much info for Fuga Melodies Of Steel drop.👍👍😊

Matt Rhodes

Following the success of Breath of the Wild, will every future mainline Zelda be an 'open world game'? Is that something you all want to see, or after so many, would any of you want a return to the old formula?

Simon Kirwin

I know everyone agrees when I say that the most exciting part of Square's E3 showing was the remasters of the classic Final Fantasy games. How far do you want them to take these remakes in terms of quality of life improvements (Bravely Default I'm looking at you) and most importantly, why aren't these coming out on consoles?!

betoq92 .

Hello Minnious and Maximus This last console generation I’ve gone through the most controllers about 4 xbox 3 ps4 and 6 joycons. I treat my controllers with care, all the gens before those are still working for me. Is anyone else in this boat?
