Hi cohorts! I like Digimon more than Pokémon. Is that wrong? Am I crazy?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, In light of Summer Games Done Quick, what game do does each cohort think they could most successfully speed run?

Chandler

Hello Mint Macs. Do you think the greatest game you'll ever play lies in your future or your past?

Tanner Hoisington

My gaming phrase pet peeve was given a boost last week when Nintendo released the "Quality of Life" Skyward Sword trailer. I have always found that to be a hokey way of describing minor game improvements. I even decided to check what the other official Nintendo accounts subtitled this trailer: - Japan - Commercial 3 - Germany - Improvements to the game experience - France - Comfort improvements - Italy - Improved functionality - Russia - enhanced features - Spain, Netherlands - Various improvements As far as I can tell, we westeners are the only ones saying this. How do you feel about "Quality of Life updates" and are there any other gaming phrases that irk you?

Joe Kafchinski

I have a standing bet with a co-worker on whether the Switch Pro or a new Silent Hill will be announced first. Winner picks a bad game that the loser has to roll credits on. We didn't bother hashing out what a Switch Pro means. Is the bet still alive, or did Switch Pro win? PS - if I win, I'll be inflicting the Alone in the Dark reboot on my co-worker, which I think is fair since I rolled credits on that game voluntarily. PPS - I have Silent Hill

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts! As we continue to live in pandemic times, I have a dark thought that continues to (pardon the pun) plague my mind I feel compelled to share with you: at some point, there's going to be a video game based on COVID-19. What are the best and worst case scenarios for what kind of game it will be? Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Tommy Carver-Chaplin

Hi Cohorts, We all know what a Leo-ass gamer game is, but what is a Ben-ass game? Please apply to remaining cohorts. Best regards, Tommy from the Internet

Jordan Blayney

Hey Cohorts! I just finished my entire run through of Mass Effect Legendary Edition and it got me thinking why don't more series do trilogies like Mass Effect anymore? Are there any current games you would want a complete three game story based trilogy right now? Thanks, Jordan

aFamiliarSpirit

It’s been 8 years since A Link Between Worlds. When do you all bet we’ll get a new one?

Chris Gillar

Howdy Cohorts, Which game or series have you read the most lore for in-game? (I.e. not outside books or wikis) For me it’s probably Control. Remedy really seems to capture what makes it fun to seek out and be rewarded by collectible lore tidbits.

Hey all! I was recently demonstrating the DualSense controller to a friend of mine when I realized that I had shut off all of the trigger resistance effects in the PS5 system settings months ago. I was moonlighting as an Astro's Playroom speed runner last fall and wanted the effect off to maximize my performance. By the time Returnal and Ratchet rolled around, I had totally forgotten I did this and ended up playing these games to completion without even realizing I was missing out on the feature. I know some folks out there don't like the DualSense gimmicks, but I really like it and was mad at myself for forgetting to turn it back on. MinnMax crew, have you ever found yourself looking back and realizing that you totally missed something? It could be something technical like my story or maybe it was a gameplay mechanic you missed but somehow brute forced your way around needing? Tell us your best gaming facepalm moments!

gophish

I might be upgrading to the new switch even with how underwhelming the new features are. Cohorts, what are your favorite stories of irresponsibly spent money (gaming related or not)?

Sean Mason

Hey CLCs This past weekend, my fiancee and I dug out her old PS2, and it still had her OG memory card in it. We booted it up to see what games were on it. Most of them were pretty popular PS2 games like Sly, Ratchet, and Jak, but one that caught my eye was titled “The Adventures of Cookies and Cream.” I had never heard of it. So, I took to the internet, and it turns out it is a From Software co-op platformer. I couldn’t believe I didn’t know what it was, as my sister and I devoured co-op platofrmers during the PS2 era. So my question: What is a time in your life you discovered a game that was right up your alley in terms of your tastes, but you never knew it existed? Best, Sean M.

umryan

Hello CLCs, at Minnmax we like to focus on positivity and games, friends & getting better, but what would you say is the worst game you have ever played?

humblebees

Hello MinnMax and friends, How "tilty" is everyone? Over the holiday weekend, a large group of friends was able to gather for the first time since COVID and we played a large swath of different games but two main ones were Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Guilty Gear Strive. Of our group, we have a handful of different behaviors when we play. Some slowly get worked up and frustrated to the point of stepping away, others seem to get more motivated and inspired and really focus in on their own execution until often the winner gets bored. Some will immediately start reading and researching to plot their victory, others don't really seem to care at all and just are trying to do one or two cool things that they focus on. So where you would guys put yourselves? Does losing to a friend all weekend drive you insane and make you want to stop playing? Or does it make you want to play more? Does randomness like Mario Party annoy the heck out of you? Or does it just make you laugh even harder? Cheers, Bevan

bizkiut (Nick S.)

Hey CLCs, I recently bought a gaming PC (my first one!) I have been a console player my whole life, (currently have a Switch and PS5). Since getting the PC, I have found it hard to play single player games/modes on there. Sitting in a chair with a mouse and keyboard when not playing with friends doesn't captivate me as much. Are there any single player games that I should try on PC (exclusive or not) that might grab my attention more and get me to sit at the desk to play it. Love all the work you do! Nick S.

Josh64

Heeeeelllo MinnMax! Recently I’ve grown tired of the trope in boss fights where the player character has a full on conversation with the antagonists DURING THE FIGHT! I used to not think about it too much but I was fighting the boss at the end of Mass Effect 1 when I thought to myself “wait, I don’t actually know what we’re talking about.” As I get older, this kind of thing just seems silly, especially on easy bosses. Would love to hear y’all’s take on this. Much love! -Josh

Here’s a question I have been pondering while checking out the Pokémon Sword/Shield DLC: what have we interacted with more Pokemon or Party members in RPG games in general? (Not counting duplicate Pokémon. Example, you would only count Pikachu once even though every game has one.)

Simon Kirwin

Hello Cojortes, the nintendo switch OLED was just announced today. The switch is somewhere into between 3rd and 4th generation consoles in terms of power, which worked back in 2017 when BOTW was released, but even games like bravely default 2 released this year are struggling to run on the console smoothly. I am shocked there is no meaningful hardware upgrades to this new system other than a bigger screen. It makes me really worried about what our experiences are going to be for upcoming games like Pokemon Arceus and BOTW 2. How much longer do you think they can get away with current hardware and do you see a negative impact for Nintendo in the long run?

Chris Logan

Hey Ben and 'horts, do you think it's actually possible to like something ironically? This term is used a lot when people talk about liking a "bad" movie or game, but is that really any different than just liking it?

Forrest With Two Rs

Hey gamers, What's the deal with annual sports games being good seemingly every other year (you could almost say the same for games like CoD)? Why don't the big names like EA and 2k just compile all the features liked from the previous one into the coming one? Is there some sort of planned obsolescence taking place?

Steven Herrera

Hello Ben and the MinnMax Crew! I recently finished playing Disgaea 4, which is part of a series of strategy RPG games known for excessive grinding. Disgaea 4 in particular had me resetting the game several times in a row in order to get certain NPCs to spawn, resetting maps to get weapon duplications, and grinding hundreds of floors in the game’s Item World. During a couple of these grinding sessions, I had to stop and ask myself “Why am I doing this absurd grind?!”. The Disgaea games are all about watching numbers go up and I love it, but sometimes I have to question my life choices during the grind. What are the most absurd grinds you’ve ever done in video games? Are there any games that had you doing more than just killing the same mobs for drops? Were there any unusual grinding activities that you have participated in?

Robert Key

Hey, Ben out of 10 and the CLC's! Let's say a billionaire whose name rhymes with Shmezos (I hear Suriel knows him) were to give you each a blank check to have your very own game room built with everything you've ever wanted. What would you put in there and why?

Mustafa Hassan

What's the first game you HAVE to get on the Nintendo Switch? It may not be the best one. It can be the one that you grab to hold you down until you get Breath of The Wild or maybe one that shows off the strengths of the Switch the best.

WUMBOL0GY

When I first played Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando on PS2, some of the most fun I had was leveling up my guns in these two huge open areas where enemies would spawn in certain spots. Just wandering around cleaning up enemies was super fun to me. When I played the sequel, Up Your Arsenal, it was an improvement in almost every way but lacked these open areas. The challenge arena in the game was a decent replacement, and the common consensus seemed to be it was a welcome improvement. Even so, it never felt quite the same to me as zipping around as fast as I could destroying everything that happened to pop up. I still like Up Your Arsenal just as much as Going Commando, but couldn't help being disappointed by this. So, here's my question: Have you ever been disappointed by a game or sequel about something so oddly specific that no one else seemed to pick up on? Or have you ever seriously enjoyed a part of a game no one else seemed to?

PuppiesOnParade

Hey Benny and the Cohorts! What are some games that you guys thought were going to end up being a bigger deal than they actually turned out to be? For me it was Fracture on the PS3, the ground formation guns were so much fun to mess around with in the arena-style PvP multiplayer maps. Thanks for the consistently amazing show. Love each and every one of you. Keep up the great work.

God's Garage

Hey there Cohorts! Watching Suriel stream Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle last week made me think about what I like in difficulty options. I find that I really enjoy when a game offers alternatives to difficulty sliders such as in MRKB. “easy mode” is simply the option to refill your health, and give your party a buff before battles. Celeste is another example with its infinite dash and invincibility options accessible in the pause menu. Do you think games like Dark Souls should have an “easy mode”, and do you think these integrations/ individual options are better than just a slider? Thanks!

Geoff Enright

Hello hello! Well we are getting a switch "upgrade" but...cue DisappointedHercules.gif. What do you think will be the percentage of people with a switch upgrading or feeling the need to get the Switchplus? Since no upgrades to the battery or GPU are taking place, I don't think too many people will feel compelled to get it. - Geoff aka Groffles

Donnie

hey friends! With the Switch 1.5 or whatever, why are Nintendo fans seemingly both upset with the company’s output but also always buying said output? It’s like some of the fans are simultaneously the “never speak to me or my son again” meme AND the futurama “take all my money” meme. How can one be both these things at once?

Kenneth Osterloh

Hey Ben and crew, What game in your life made you realize there are whole other genre types to enjoy? For me it’s a little cliche, but Final Fantasy 7 made me realize I could play games for the story and they don’t have to be “do-ee” games as Dan Ryckert would put it. Before FF7 I mostly played action and platforming games.

Thom Blackburn

Hey minnmax, What year are we going to advance past the "heads up display"? I know there are currently plenty of games without huds, but I'm talking about universal ubiquity: we've solved ALL the design problems that required abstract bars, meters, and/or fish bowls of mana and blood. Interested to hear your feedback or any ideas for replacing those. Thanks, Thom

Shawn Mills

Is the era of the auteur game director over? It feels like new games being announced are marketed as coming from development teams and not a single director. Do you think it's a positive for the industry to focus on developers as a whole team instead of focusing on one single director?

Anthony Botz

Good Morning Ben and the Holograms How about a game to celebrate July 4th? Can you name the 4th boss in these games? 1) Shadow of the Colossus A: Phaedra 2) Bloodborne A: Vicar Amelia 3) The Legend of Zelda A: Gleeok (the two headed dragon) 4) Conker's Bad Fur Day A: Buga the Knut 5) Final Fantasy 7 A: Reno 6) Final Fantasy 7 Remake A: The Airbuster (Also acceptable the Crab Warden if you count Roche twice)

Old Dad Hands

Hello Janet and the Jabronies. Tell me, what the heck are you putting on a sandwich? made a subpar sandwich for dinner at work and feel so empty. How do I improve my sandwich game? Jacob Formerly of Minnesota.

Hey cohorts, Been getting into 2D Metroid games in anticipation for Metroid Dread. After kinda falling out of video games for most of the year, these have hooked me with their great level design and short but focused runtimes. Do you guys have any memorable video game series that helped get you back into gaming after a drought?

Bryce Blackmore

As a dad I've found it more and more difficult to play games. Jeffm, how have you navigated this and how has your gaming changed to adapt?

Morne

Hey Minners and Maxxers, The channel's recent videos covering UFOs has got me thinking. What are the cohorts opinions on ghosts? Do you believe in them in any way and have you ever had an experience? It's ghost story time ya'll!

Kees ('Case') Mulder

Hi Musical Instrument Compatriots, I'm a bit surprised by the reaction to the switch OLED; for me it's a great replacement for a broken switch that keeps compatibility with the old dock and games. Do you all think compatibility is underrated or overrated?

Tanner Hoisington

And if you wanted someone not negative about the Switch OLED, my reply to the MinnMax tweet: -------- Never was excited for the rumors (or even fully bought into them). I am not a fan of the half-step model that potentially splinters the user base, especially for a system that already struggles to run games. Doing this and then a backward compat Switch 2 in a couple years is the better move for everyone imo. Wouldn't you rather just have a slightly shorter console span instead of being suckered into spending hundreds on a PS4Pro and a PS5 around the corner?

tbeeks15

Hey cohorts! This week I’ve realized that I have had 1 or more jars of my favorite salsa (Mrs. Renfro’s Habanero salsa) in my cupboard ever since I discovered it around 8 years ago. Do you guys have anything that you make sure you always have in stock, food or some other product, other than the essentials? Love & Respect, -Beeks

j0

Do you guys think the OLED is a worthy enough upgrade to replace the first switch model?

Mason Cowell

Hello all! Simple question for you all, what is your most hated part of your most loved game? Mine would be the entirety of the Hebra (snowy) area in BOTW.

Sam Billings

Hey! Finally getting into FF7 remake intermission, and I think I'm in love with fort condor. I want it on my phone immediately, is there any mini games that you just wanted on your phone rather than it being locked on a game?

Jason Wojnar

Did you folks like School? I mean kindergarten through 12th grade. I didn't have a particularly hard time or face intense bullying (there were definitely antagonizers and I got beat up a couple of times, but nothing super serious), but I consider it the worst 13 years of my life. People say life only gets harder after school; they are wrong!!!

Rickfromatlanta

Hi crew. I was wondering. With the recent announcement of Casey Hudson starting a studio what are some examples of this that have lead to a "10 out of 10" game? What were some flops? Death Stranding??? Thanks for everything

Rickfromatlanta

Is Jeff Backalar to blame for this kickstand redesign? Also with the inclusion of a Lan port do you think we will see more game streaming options like with Control and Hitman? Game pass anyone??

The Pattycake (Patrick H.)

Hey gang! I've been really busy with work and keep daydreaming about my next vacation. So my question is: You have no access to video games or social media for two weeks, what do you do?

Adrian

how many kartwheels could you do before you DIE!!!!!
