Hello cohorts! Javy, do you have any thoughts on the current state of accessibility in gaming? Has your role as publicist given you any more insight on the matter? Christopher Reardon

Jarell Pryor

What's up folks, It was great last week to hear such positive thoughts about Suriel. It's always uplifting to hear such positivity from peers. So here's an excuse to give your cohorts their flowers! Episode 100 sounds like the perfect occassion. What's something you really appreciate about one of the other people on the show today? To keep this question brief, maybe y'all can go clockwise based on positions on the show screen. (ex. Ben, what's something you appreciate about the person to the right of your cam? Then what's something that person appreciates about the person below them? and so on.) Thanks! - Jarell (juh-rell)

Hello Horts and Javy! I've been hearing a lot of buzz about this new game "The Forgotten City" that is out, and hearing the title reminded me of one of my favorite Skyrim mods of the same name from back in the day. What a coincidence I thought! Imagine my surprise when I checked its website and found out that this game is actually based off of that original mod that I played so long ago! This leads to my question: Is there any modd/add-on to a game that you think genuinely improved the overall experience or rekindled a love for an old favorite? Thanks love the show!

TookusTalk

Hey everyone! Have you ever had a game series that you have never played but for some reason have an attachment to? I have never played any of the Ys games but for some reason I get really excited whenever I see mention of them. When a new one is announced it feels similar to when a game in a franchise I love is announced and I can't explain it. I don't know why I am like this but I'm hoping someone has a similar feeling to a franchise like I do.

Hello Benjamin Franklins(?) and the CLC-notes?! Congrats on 100 episodes and apologies for the bad joke. Also Ben, I worked post-production on "Alone" if you want insight on watching people slowly go crazy. Now: You must choose! From this moment, you may only play games--past, present, and future--from the "West" or games from the "East," what do you choose and why? In case clarity is needed: the classic, cultural west vs east are the dividing lines. In case more clarity is needed, that's dealer's choice.

MakeItUnclear

Terrible news! You've been stricken with the 100th Episode Curse! That means you've been transformed into a JRPG-style sprite and transported back to your home town. But what luck! Your town is on the Great Hero's critical path, and even though he has a realm to save, he'll talk to every NPC along the way. So! What one line of dialogue do you say, unprompted, every time he walks by? Do you progress the story? Spread a rumor about the Dark Wizard's evil plan and foul deeds? Do you give exactly one fun fact about your town's history and culture? What's your line?

PoorFrisco

Ahoy cohorts. I’m wondering what naming convention was once the most absurd thing you could think of when you first heard it, and are you used to it now? I remember people mocking the name “Joy-cons” relentlessly at the time, but now it doesn’t seem to bother anyone. On the other hand calling the weird PSP discs in plastic cases UNIVERSAL Media Discs still seems stupid years later.

Styster

What's a game you've read more about than actually played?

Rich McLaughlin

For what upcoming game would you want a companion title, an amuse-bouche if you will, akin to Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon? Would you like to see more of this type of game?

Starkiller

Hey y’all! Road trips are my absolute favorite vacation and they were the highlights of my childhood. (Nothing like being trapped in a midsized sedan with your parents and 3 older brothers to force some familial bonding) I remember playing Pokémon sapphire on my non backlit game boy advanced and having to wait for each streetlight so I could select my next attack. On one road trip from Texas to Ohio to visit family I was in the backseat middle, brothers on either side and a small crt tv between my legs playing the never soft spider man game on Ps1. We had it all plugged into a cigarette lighter power converter. It was cramped and a bit uncomfortable but I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything. So what are some of y’all’s best road trip memories? And what was gaming like out on the open road? All the best! Josh Bucy

The Forgotten City is my GOTY so far, that game rules. What are some other good mystery or detective games that you would recommend?

Adam Cohen

Hey MinnMax Crew, Congrats on 100 episodes! First off, big thank you to Leo Vader for his GALOT from a couple of weeks ago about the Oculus Air Link. I had heard the feature was coming a while back but didn't know when. I don't have the space for VR near my computer, so now I've beaten Half-life Alyx and loved it! Speaking of MinnMax things from a while back, when you all talked about the Minnish Cap a while ago, it made me want to play it, but I can't play it on my Switch. I found that I can play it on my Wii U on the virtual console, but that isn't my (or anyone's really) preferred place to play. My question is: Is Nintendo basically setting fire to a big pile of money every day that they don't bring the Wii/Wii U virtual console to the Switch?

Joey Crundwell

Hi Ben and the CLCs, For whatever reason, I often find myself thinking of a story that Dan Hsu (former EIC of EGM) once shared. Apparently, the old EGM editors would have job applicants play a video game in front of them to prove they actually played games and weren't faking it on their applications. Once, he said, a guy showed up and had no idea how to play the game or even hold the controller. That got me thinking: if you could play one game with a potential hire, what would it be and what would you be hoping to learn about this person in the process? Thanks for all of the great content and please consider Chrono Cross for a future episode of The Deepest Dive! Joey Crundwell

Hey all, I recently spent a weekend getting lost in GB Studio and ended up with nothing to show for it. Still a lot of fun though! Have you ever dipped into any aspect of game design (Mario Maker Levels, DOOM WADs, or beyond)? What did you make? And if so, did you find the experience rewarding, did it give you a better perspective on the games industry at large? If you haven't, why not?

Matthew Wogksch

Hello CLCs Recently I have gotten into Elite Dangerous. Knowing that this is a older game with a very established community, I have spent a lot of my free time (time that should be used to finish my dissertation) on Reddit and YouTube trying to learn how to play. I even bought a throttle and joystick because I’m a maniac. My question is: any cohorts ever gotten into an already established game? Also, what was the most effective strategy you used to help get over the daunting start to these games? Keep up the awesome work!

I miss Suriel

Congratulations on 100 episodes! My question is regarding inclusion in games… Now, as a gay man gaming since the 90s, I’ve been very happy to see our medium evolve-just not in leaps & bounds, but those very precious gems that do get me very happy. The Last of Us 2 had Elly as an openly gay woman, but can you all think of examples of gay men as characters in gaming? Bioware’s games have given me some great options, but do you think it’s still too early for gay men to be main characters in a story-driven game these days? Our community has become more diverse, but I fear that games with leading gay characters don’t get the green light in terms of pitch or budget these days still due to the predominate audience being straight white male, although there is a changing social climate.

Matthew Weatherley

G'day Minnmaxeroos I have recently picked up an xbox series x and have also signed up to game pass. Wow. There are alot of games on there to choose from. Honestly it can be a little overwhelming. As I don't have much spare time for gaming I find myself playing the beginning of alot of games and then moving on because the time commitment is so large. Can you please recommend a few games on game pass that are great short experience that will give me the satisfaction of "clocking" or finishing a game. Thanks.

Hootz

hopefully this podcast airs before the imminent September Nintendo Direct. But who's the last Smash character going to be?

Scott Wilton

Hi Minnmaxers! Congratulations on 100 episodes! But I have always wondered. Why don’t you number your episodes???

Bryce Blackmore

Is there 100 of any type of food which you could consume in an hour. If so, what is it?

Sean Mason

Hey CLCs, Congrats on 100 episodes! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. Keeping the theme of 100 in mind what is the greatest game of all time that featured the number 100 in it? Best, Sean M.

Ryan Foshee

Howdy CLCs, I hope you are all doing well and staying safe! This week, something incredible happened. You all may or may not know that the band Japanese Breakfast— one of my all time favorite groups— is creating the OST for Sable. A song from the album was dropped a few days ago and it’s incredible (seriously go check it out ASAP). While I was already interested in this game aesthetically, it has skyrocketed to one of my most anticipated titles due to the involvement of Japanese Breakfast. My question for you all is this: what artist/musician (not normally associated with gaming) could immediately pull you on the bandwagon for a game if they created its soundtrack? What kind of game do you think their music would pair well with? Thanks, for the hours of entertainment! Ryan

Dan Villone

Hi Gang, My son will soon be old enough to start playing video games, so I wanted to know how you think I should introduce him to games. Here are the options: 1. Kids these days don't appreciate how far games have come! Let's start with Super Mario Brothers on the NES Classic, then move to the SNES Classic, then the PS1, and so on. 2. Screw the old systems, Boomer! This kid is playing on the PS5 from Day One. I'm leaning towards option 1, but what are your thoughts? Am I trying too hard to relive my own childhood? Thanks, Dan

Zach E

Hi Ben, Leo, Jeff, and Javy! Do you think the average person completes more games per year or more books per year? (Key word is completes). I definitely finish more games because I'm the world's slowest reader. Meanwhile, my partner reads through a book a week. Congrats on triple digits!

TheUnchartedWolf

Hello MinnMax warlords, Have you ever started something, be it game or any other piece of media, knowing full well you'll never finish it. I started watching One Piece the other day and while I'm loving it, I can't help but feel I'll never get past the 900+ episodes.

Bryan Tylec

Hi folks! Are you guys familiar with the concept of a "one timer" (a movie that is really good and that you love but is way too sad or emotionally draining for you to ever watch again)? Like 'Grave of the Fireflies', for instance. Do you have any video games that you feel that way about? For me, it's probably season 1 of The Walking Dead, which I always say is my favorite video game story of all time and my favorite Walking Dead story of all time, as well, but after bawling my eyes out in every single episode, I still haven't been able to work up the emotional fortitude to dive into season 2 or go back and replay season 1. P.S. Javy, there are very few reviewers I know whose taste in games lines up exactly with my own but you're one of 'em. Since you're here, why don't you just settle in and become a Cohort? Ok, sounds good. I look forward to hearing you on the show next week.

Mark Weston

Hello all! I know this is a non gaming question but last month, it has been reported that Greta Gerwig has been attached to write and direct a Barbie movie with Margot Robbie in the lead role. What’s your excitement level on this? I’m not the biggest fan of the brand but having Gerwig and Robbie involvement has me excited on what this Barbie movie could be.

Josh LaBaw

Games now look like Pixar movies & cartoons. South Park Stick of Truth, and The Fractured But Whole have made playing a season of South Park possible. What other franchises need that treatment?

Joshua Leemon

Hello gang and hey Javy! Since Javy is one the show I want to say Kentucky Rt Zero became one of my top 10 games of all time when I played it last year and yet it’s hard for me to describe to friends why. Are there any games you guys adore but have a hard time discussing or recommending?

Shakenbake67

Hey MinnMaxers and Javy, Loved the super early look that Dead Space did yesterday and wish more developers would do that. My question is, if you could get a super early look at a game currently in development, What game would it be? My pick would be whatever the next game from Arkane is. Deathloop is pretty much done so they have to already be working on what’s next and with their pedigree I feel like the early prototypes are super interesting

SassyLuchador

Hello MinnMaxers <3 Loving this show and here to a 1000 more episodes Having tried the Riders Republic beta, I had to unfortunately listen to it's cringey dialogue which included words like "rad" and "that was money" Here's my question, what game has had the cringest dialogue ?

Bob Buel

My deepest and most sincere congratulations for 100 episodes!! I never doubted you Minnxes for a second. My question for you mad lads - if MinnMax were to have a mascot, if only for this cekebratory episode, what/who would it be? Thanks! Praise be to Pipo Bob Buel

Hammer parsa

Hello mr jeffem and associates Simple question here : what’s an ideal date with your significant other ? What would you do ? Would you plan in advance or do it all on the day . Thanks to all of you for your hard work

jacob hubbard

Happy 100th! With Javy on the podcast I have to ask him; are you as anxious as me to get some Wolfenstein 3 news? New Colossus feels like forever ago and while Youngblood was fun, I'm eager to see how BJ's story finishes! What would you like to see in the game when it finally comes out? Thanks!

Jason Wojnar

A long time ago Javy posted a picture from the Soviet war movie "Come and See" on his twitter. I want to know his thoughts on it. I personally think it's a masterpiece. Jason Wojnar, Kyiv, Ukraine

Jimbleshanks

Happy 100th Episode! I’m quite new, but I firmly believe that the best questions are easier to ask than they are to answer. My question, then, is what do you think compels us about video games as a medium? Why do we continue to obsess and research and report on the art of it all? In the end, do you think there will ever be a rise of a new, more intriguing medium? Once again, happy 100th episode, and I hope you have an excellent week!

Jeorin

Howdy Ben and the cohorts. Congrats on 100 episodes! In honor of guest Javy Gwaltney, my question this week is: Who has the best hair in video games?

Tanner Hoisington

Since Riders Republic is being discussed this week, why has EA completely abandoned their EA Sports BIG titles? NBA Street, NFL Street, SSX, and Burnout (not BIG but whatever) were some of my favorite games back in the day and they've vanished. Is it more of a reflection on EA or on modern day gamers' interests?

Morne

Hello Double Ms What is your ideal length for a game?

Fred Dinovo

Howdy 'horts, Congratulations on 100 episodes! Do you ever think about how Hanson's local paper effectively created your job title? "Computer Loving Cohort" Follow up, when will you accept that 'Hort is the best way to say it? Thanks!

CrabPalace

What's something everyone should do?

Dustin L

What up CLCs! I recently started playing Hades, and holy cow! I think I've been sleeping on this entire roguelike genre...Are they all this good?! Anyway, can you think of any games that really opened your eyes to a genre that you weren't familiar with before?

PhillyYeetSteak

Hello cohorts and javy! There has been some talk that Far Cry 6 is solid, but mostly more of the same. For you personally, is the act of shooting enemies with a gun enough for a game to be fun, or do you need more than that?

Jonathan Dinh

Hi Ben and the CLC's Seeing Ben's book on social media got me thinking of when I was in 6th grade, we had to write an essay about someone we admired. I wrote about Yuji Naka for his heavy involvement in the Sonic franchise and specifically Sonic Heroes which was releasing at the time. My question is, have you ever shamelessly incorporated gaming or nerd culture into your school work? If so, what was it and what grade did you get?

Mike Po

Hello cohorts! I've been playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla and have really enjoyed the 60 fps option available on Series X. Over the past year, it seems like all of the big releases have launched with at least the option to set the game at 60 fps. Do you all imagine this will hold true for the rest of this generation, or will there be a developer that bets on pretty visuals and only launches a game at 30 fps? If that happens, do you think there would be any sort of backlash? I can see Naughty Dog wanting to push the limits of visuals in a few years and try a game at 30 fps but I'm not sure 30 fps will be as acceptable at that point. Thoughts?

Victor Pham

Does it bother you when games get more praise or attention than you feel they deserve? Especially if it is at the cost of another game you feel deserves the attention more?

Garrett Becker

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I’ve noticed that nobody is really talking about the latest Avengers update, War for Wakanda. I am still playing this game and the latest update is exciting. Black Panther really shows how cool the action can be and I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it. He is unique and crazy fun to play as. The new update has added a lot and set up the game to easily expand with new villains and missions. A lot of people have hate on the game since it came out, but think I am still into Avengers because the combat feels awesome and it is a always a blast playing with friends. I was wondering if any of you have tried Black Panther yet and what your general impressions of the game are one year after its release? Have any of you tried it on next gen? It feels and looks so much better than last gen. Thanks for always being podcast homies that get me through the work day!

Aegis of the Grail

Hey CLCs! I can't believe it's been 100 episodes! In honor of that, what's the most important lesson you've all learned since Minnmax started? And what was the biggest challenge Minnmax has had to overcome in its first 100 episodes?
