Hello all. Grand Theft Auto 3 just celebrated it's 20th anniversary on October 22nd. This might be a big question but has there been a more impactful game on the industry in the last 20 years than GTA3? I'm not sure there has.

Luca Alberti

Ciao MinnMax from Italy! Last week we got confirmation that Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp was delayed to 2022 and this left me with some mixed feelings: while I'm really worried about the game finding a gap in the already crowded schedule of 2022, I felt relieved that I now have some extra time to catch-up and play Psychonauts 2. Have you ever felt relieved by a delay and how did it turn out in the end?

SUPER-STATUS

Hello Ben and crew! My brother and I grew up playing video games. With me being the older one I was always first player and he was stuck being second player. He never really liked it but that's just how the world works. So my question to you all is did you grow up being first player or second player? Or did you and your siblings actually love each other and not care who was first or second player? Love the show and keep up the great work.

Spencer Price

Question for Sarah. Seeing as there are only like 2 titles left stranded on the Wii U and one of them is Xenoblade Chronicles X, having worked on that game, would you like to see it come to the Switch? What are your thoughts on the game overall? Major props for localizing that game. I don't think people realize what a massive project that must've been.

Punk Wizard Ministries

Hi friends! This week (October 26) the PS2 turns 21 years old in North America. My question for y’all is what PS2 game character would you like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with? Is it a beer with Homer from the Simpson’s Hit and Run? A daiquiri with the King of All Cosmos from Katamari Damacy? A Jack and Coke with Jak and Daxter? Who would you celebrate with?

Muffyn Crumbs

Hey Ben & Co! I'm back with another round of MULTI-MEDIA FRANCHISE QUANTITY OVER QUALITY. In case you forgot, this game involves me listing two multi-media franchises and you guess which one has had more video games. #1: Star Wars vs. Pokemon - Answer: Star Wars (169) vs Pokemon (124). Get this - included in the Star Wars video games are 12 educational games such as Star Wars: Jedi Math & Jedi Reading. #2: Tron vs The Land Before Time - Answer: Land Before Time (14) vs Tron (10) #3: Digimon vs Pirates of the Caribbean - Answer: Digimon (56) vs PoC (11) #4: Dune vs Wallace & Grommet - Answer: W&G (11) vs Dune (6) #5: Terminator vs Ghostbusters - Answer: Terminator (30) vs Ghostbusters (21). Fun fact: There was a chess game called T2 Chess Wars that came out in 1993.

What’s the most random or obscure game you can remember from your childhood? Maybe something you only played because it happened to be around for some reason? When I was really young I remember playing Zoombinis because it was my moms favorite game and I have very vague memories of Treasure Mountain and Lego Island

John Richards

Hello Cohorts! Quick question, how often do you get absolutely lost in video game worlds? (asking for a friend…)

Sincerly, Eric

As the Year draws to a close and we are ready to get lost in GOTY arguements and Best Ofs... I wanted to ask. What are you all individually proud of that you did this year? What is your biggest accomplishment this year?

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! I once made a belt out of watches. It was a real waist of time. What’s everyone's favorite dad joke?

Nathan Freeman

How difficult is it to remain family friendly? Considering the amount of guests is it a lot of pre production talks or mainly post production editing?

Forrest With Two Rs

Hey Gamers, It seems like there's always one stealth, under the radar game that ends up on lots of publications game of the year lists despite being overlooked or at best having been given a brief moment of shine. What game do you think it is this year? Make the case or nominate your own!

Jake Z

When we reach the end of time and have to choose the greatest game ever made, will it be 3D or 2D?

Catpurrnicus

Hey Crew, I've been playing a lot of VR lately and I love the immersion. I'm trying to think what existing games would translate well to the platform. Luigi's Mansion comes to mind and seems perfect because most of the environments are smaller and the action is pretty simple with the vacuum and flashlight. Seems like most of you aren't into VR. Is there a game for you that if it came out on VR would make the platform a must have for you? Something like Pokemon perhaps, maybe an RTS where you stand over a giant board controlling you factions, tabletop games where you can play with friends from across the world but it feels like you're together?

Braulio Martinez

Hi all, With the new Guardians game coming, I find myself a bit disinterested in its combat. Actually, this is true of almost every game nowadays. I feel like it's boring to see how every hit, even by a gun or a super sharp sword, simply "whacks" an enemy until its HP is gone. Have you felt the same way? Do you think it will ever be feasible for game swords to act like actual swords and slash, cut, or mangle enemies in one hit? In my mind, we have dodged so much in the last 10 years that a system in which one sword slash could (depending on location) be a one hit kill would be interesting to me.

LB

Hey MinnMax! Have you ever beat Mike Tyson in Punch Out? Ive been trying every year or two for…most of my life. 2022 is the year he goes down.

CrabPalace

Do you have a deep dark secret? Don't tell me what is, I'm just curious if you have one.

Joe Kafchinski

Since the pandemic started, I've been increasingly likely to fall down YouTube rabbit holes, watching every possible video I can for whatever random channel or subject happens to hit my brain in just the right way. In the past month or so, subjects have included Puppet History, people reacting to Babymetal videos, and essays about horror movies (note - I don't watch horror movies). What are some YouTube (or Wikipedia) rabbit holes you've been down that you would like to share with the class?

The_Smak

Hey cohorts I have a little game for you. You will be given several options involving video game mechanics, effects, or ideas. However, you can only choose one option and the other is zapped from existence. Choose carefully as you can render your favorite games unplayable. 1. Rolling or Jumping 2. Sound Effects, Music, or Voice Acting 3. Sprinting or Vehicles (anything your character can ride) 4. Loot, Character Stats, or Perks 5. All games are linear, or all games are open world 6. All games are 10 hours maximum or all games are 40 hours minimum Now take all your answers and combine them. Would you still play video games?

Cole kreider

Howdy Pumpkin Spiced Cohorts, With Halloween coming up on Sunday what character would each of you be in a horror movie? Jock, nerd, cheerleader, and so on. Also which of you would be final girl?

Marcus (Schtatic)

Howzit?! (Friendly local greeting) Newcomer here. Nintendo’s new online expansion dropped and, of course, many fans are defending Nintendo on the pricing and content…. so I wanted to know is there a (gaming) hill that you would die on and/or what is your wildest take? Personally, I am 100% for things not being backwards compatible and, to go even further, I would be completely okay with companies solely focusing on the newest generation instead of having increasingly bigger overlaps of support every time a new console comes out.

Robby Titlow

Howdy Minnmax Crowd-y? Anywho, what’s a good game you could suggest for Halloween? I think I’m gonna play Little Nightmares with my brother! He’s never even seen it and it’s pretty freaky! Hope all of you are doing well!

Josh64

Hey MinnMaxers! Imagine that you're in front of a council of aliens. These aliens are enslaving the human race, but they have an offer for a select amount of people. You get to showcase a talent that you think less than half of the human population can do, and if you're correct, you get to live among the aliens. What talent that less than half the planet can do, do you showcase?

Adam Cohen

Hey MinnMax Crew! Gyroscopic controls/aiming yay or nay?

James Ford

Hey MinnMax crew! If you could be very skilled at a single skill, but not able to do it professionally/ make money from it, what skill would you choose?

Geoff Enright

What's the happy-haps everyone, Have you been watching different horror films or TV during the month of October? I have now finished the haunting of hill house and am finishing up haunting of bly manor. Thoughts? -Geoff aka Groffles

Hunter Sax

Hello hello, I got engaged earlier this year, let's go us Ben! Almost overnight I began to notice everyone else's engagement rings. Something so innocuous became so very obvious. Any weird small things you've picked up on? JeffM, Kyle any subtle things you picked up on over time?

podbod

Hey Ban Henson and the Cucumber Loving Cohearts, How do you think your personality's would change if we only had landlines and never had communication via internet or cell phones. If you wanted to hang out with someone, you'd have to call them up and schedule a time. You couldn't get outraged at a stranger's opinion on the web. I think I'd be generally less anxious about missing out on social events since I wouldn't be invited to as many, or see them posted on social media. I'd probably put more emphasis on face to face interactions since they would be the only social interaction available outside of phone calls. How about y'all?

Will

Hey MinnMax! When was the last time you intentionally took a break from gaming? How long was it? A day? A week? A month? A year? What was it like? Why did you do it? Did you learn anything? Thanks!

DJ

Y'all seem to be mixed on the Metroid dread bosses. Seemed to enjoy overcoming the challenge but didn't enjoy the effort you had to put in. So what do you want in a boss fight? I loved Metroid dread bosses and like all the souls games but can't really get into something like the ff7 remake. I like a good challenge as long as it's fair. I like good movement and tight controls. If I can read all the attacks and dodge or parry them I don't mind trying for hours to overcome the challenge.

AnAttackCorgi

Trick or Treat MinnMax Ghouls and Gals! Video game characters are coming by your neighborhood and you want to win the Halloween competition. Using video games as your sole inspiration, the panel must choose a lawn ornament, a candy, and a costume you’ll blow away the competition with. What’re you winning Hall0w33n 2021 with?

Christian Jimenez

Hello, What are some video games coverage/journalism pet peeves you don't like to see. Thank you.

Tanner Methven

Hey Minnmax Crew, Last week on Jeopardy, the Legend of Zelda was one of the answers and I was surprised someone got it right, since in my recollection the contestants don’t often know video game answers. I’d like to see if you have more faith in them than I with a game: Did They Get It? I’ll give you a Jeopardy clue and you say if you think they got it or don’t got it. Love the show, Tanner Methven Clue ($800): With flowing white hair, Geralt of Rivia is a monster slayer in this video game series based on the stories of Andrzej Sapkowski. Answer: The Witcher. Contestants: Didn’t get it. (No guesses) Clue ($1000) In 2020 it was time to find some “New Horizons” & build your own island paradise with this Nintendo Switch game. Answer: Animal Crossing. Contestants. Didn’t get it, which host Ken Jennings noted was going to make his kids mad. Clue ($1600) Referring to a false promise, “the cake is a lie” became a famous meme that sprang from this valve game. Answer: Portal. Contestants: Got it (Dude rang in QUICK) Clue ($800): Appropriately, the highest lance won in this classic game; less appropriately, there were flying ostriches. Answer: Joust. Contestants: Got it. Clue ($800): In the classic video game “Joust”, contestants were placed upon these birds. Answer: Ostriches. Contestants: Didn’t get it. (Apparently somebody at Jeopardy really likes Joust) Clue (Final Jeopardy, category was 21st century games): The villains in this game were inspired by the swine flu epidemic scare. Answer: Angry Birds. Contestants: Didn’t get it. Their answers were Halo, Skyrim, and Resident Evil. Clue (Final Jeopardy, category was video game history): The title Princess of this game, which launched a best-selling franchise, was named for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s wife. Answer: The Legend of Zelda. Contestants: one got it because he wrote Legend of Zelda, while the other two lost because they only wrote Zelda. After this Alex says, “Good game. Strange finish. Gotta pay attention.”

Shawn Mills

Now that we have guardians of the Galaxy, avengers, and upcoming Spiderman and Wolverine games, is there a comic book or comic book character you would like to see get a game?

Hugo Aguilar

Hey MinnMaxers, With Halloween this weekend, I wanted to know when’s the last time a game or movie really scared the crap out of you?

SassyLuchador

Hey Minnmaxers What is a game that you can guarantee no one in the podcast knows about it ? mine is Urban Reign an old ps2 beat em up.

Adam Castellanos

If you could bring back any game studio back from the dead who would it be and what game would you want them to make? Thank you love your content

Empiric Unicorn

Hey CLCs! What's your favorite rough edges in a game? Like when you end a discussion in Mass Effect 1 and people awkwardly shuffle of to the side like they're going off stage in a school play.

Seangocongo

Revenge is a plot device I keep seeing in video game stories, however I've never once felt compelled to do anything for revenge. Have any of you felt compelled to act out of revenge? Why do you think stories use this trope so often?

Ari

Hi MinnMax Crew,  With the release of Resident Evil 4 VR Edition do you think the next video game trend will be VR editions of our favorite games? If so, what games would you be excited to jump into?  I’m thinking of titles released in between the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube and the PS3, 360, and Wii generations. Games that were not originally intended to be in VR.  Some games I would love to see is Lugi’s Mansion, Shenmue 1 & 2, Mario Party, and Final Fantasy X. First person Blitzball anyone???!!!

Jason Wojnar

The other day I ordered a Nintendo Switch and canceled the order immediately afterward. I just could not feel good about spending that kind of money, no matter how bad I want to play Metroid Dread. What video game console purchases do you seriously regret? Heck, let's make it more general to any type of big purchase you regretted.

Tokyo Game Life

Have you ever completed a game you got for free on PS+? I realized recently I never have. I think it’s because if I want a game on PlayStation, I will buy it at full price or on sale and if I skip it while the game’s on sale, that means I will never get around to it.

Dustin L

MinnMax! What is your favorite memory of playing a spooky game? Mine would have to be playing Doom 3 on the OG Xbox late at night with no lights on. Too spooky! Also, shoutout to playing Until Dawn with my girlfriend (now wife). We kept taking turns, and she happened to get all of the quick time events. Let's just say not many people survived that playthrough.

Andrew Molnar

Hey MinnMax, new supporter here. If you were competing in Squid Game, what childhood game would you feel most confident that you would survive?

Gnoale

Hey MinnMax family! Every now and then I'll play a game that will have some decorative item that'll make me go "man, why don't they make that into real life merchandise?" One example of this is the large Snorlax doll back from Pokemon Gold & Silver. That one was actually made real eventually, but others don't get as lucky either due to the game not being big enough to afford real life merchandise or it just wasn't thought of. Have you ever had such an in-game item that you would purchase if it was made real? If so, what is it? And if it makes it harder, pick and item from a game that doesn't focus around decorative items (like Animal Crossing).

MickManga

Hi MinnMax. I have a question but have any of you ever played a game that you would give a 1 out of 10? As hard as I think about it, I don't think I have ever played a game that bad.

Darkwing Drew

Hello friends, With the release of Back 4 Blood I've been reminiscing about one of my favorite "Time and Place" games Left 4 Dead. What is an example for each of you of a game that was made better by the time and place it was played, and what was that time and place?

Darkwing Drew

Hello Ben & 'The Crypt-Kicker Five', If you had to apply a Back 4 Blood card to your real life, what positive attribute would you need on that card to be willing to take a -10% Damage Resistance.

Brian Corliss

Hello Crew! Hindsight is 20/20 but the 20/21 game of the year season is upon us! Throughout your careers, what is a game that you wish you could have given game of the year, whether you were active in the industry or not?

Aaron Lennon

1: What is the content you would like to make but can't because of budget restraints.. with a blank cheque, what would Minnmax be?. Or 2: Features Within games you love the most. E.g for me FFVIII card game and Witcher 3s Gwent. Both added so much fun (getting all cards etc), value and enjoyment for me that I didn't expect to have in the 1st place. I'll try to think of better questions now that I'm subbed for a year. Love all the content.
