Hey Matt Winters and the CLCs, How different would your life be if your last name was actually "Summers?" Kyle Ardihill? Ben Sahfather? Sarah Zorp-o-lorp-pogski? (I assume) Thanks for killing baby Hitler in your timelines! Thom

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts and very generous donor Matt! Congratulations on another great Extra Life campaign! I don't know if you've heard this, but there was a party last night. And let me tell you - last night's party is still going on. To keep the dance party rolling, what are your favorite danceable video game songs? Hit me with the obscure stuff; everybody already knows 2016 and 2020 Soundtrack of the Year Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal! As a suggestion - Super Sonic Racing Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Grizzled Gaming

Hello Bennie Hanson and the Hansonites! What do you imagine video game health potions taste like?

Nawt Poncho

Hey MinnMaxers! I have a question for y'all that I've been wrestling with for quite some time. When playing a new game for the first time, do you listen to podcasts or youtube videos in the background while you play? One of my favorite things I do on chill days is play through a game I'm familiar with while listening to video essays and audiobooks (I'll probably be playing a game while tuning into this week's podcast!). Whenever a new game comes out, I feel like I have to be solely focused on the game. Do you think that players need to give their undivided attention to a new game to have the best experience? Cheers!

Thomas Deranek

Hi MinnMax! Thomas Deranek from Kansas City, KS here! My question is seeking advice and exploration of a topic that often comes up in daily life for, I'm guessing, a lot of people - myself included. Even though over the last few years gaming seems to have broken into the main stream in a big way, I still feel a need to hold back my excitement for it with people. Often, while talking with people I don't know as well, or with family members I don't see as often, I'm hesitant to converse about my gaming hobby because I'm not certain how it will be received. As an example, if a work friend asked me my weekend plans, I would first offer up any non-gaming content from the weekend before admitting that I spent a lot of it finishing Metroid Dread which was fantastic. Is this something that y'all can relate to? Do you have thoughts to share on this? Maybe the solution is just that we all just be straightforward about our hobbies because that would be the honest and authentic thing to do. Love the show! -Thomas

Seangocongo

Hey MinnMax Crew! Do you have a strong memory of beating a boss that seemed unbeatable at first? Was there a specific mechanic that made the boss difficult? What did you do to overcome this challenge? Love the show!

Rory Sublett

Greetings MinnMax! What do you look forward most returning to from a trip? Personally, I’m always excited to be back home in my own shower, but my own bed is usually high on the list too

Zane Dukes

Hello hello (hola) If you had to compare video games to musicians, which ones would they be? For example I think Call of Duty would be the U2 of gaming, or Super Metroid is the Velvet Underground of gaming. In other words, what is the Nickelback or Kanye West of gaming? Best, Zane

Braulio Martinez

Hey MinnMaxers, Are gamer bros (i.e. people who only play Fifa and CoD) an audience that companies should be targetting so they will spend more money on other games? I ask because growing up in Mexico, most of my friends had a console only for Fifa but quickly got bored with other games. Most never got anything else. For example, one of my friends picked up Lost Odyssey and had no clue what the stats were supposed to do or how to take them into account when battling. He was also really impatient, so it wasn't just the game.

Rodrigo Aoun

Hi to the panelists, long time listener, first time writer here ! Thank you for the many many hours of fun listening, I decided to start giving back and become a humble patron a few months ago and never felt better to support you guys. My question for the panel is the following : have you ever dreamt of taking an established franchise with its characters and world but with the twist of a different genre than what it usually does ? I have dreamed of many years of seeing an F-Zero action-adventurer or brawler (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST BRING IT BACK) or having an actual Fire Emblem anime fighting game with a tag system a la MvC. What are some franchises you can think of that'd be fun if they dabbled in a completely different genre ? Take care, Rodrigo

Does the idiom "don't cry over spilt milk" apply to other forms of milk besides the classic liquid? Can I cry over spilt cheese? Or a dropped ice cream?

John Richards

Hey Minnmaxers, When you were younger, did you have that one friend who was absolutely and effortlessly amazing at video games, or were YOU that one kid that was absolutely and effortlessly amazing at video games?

Gnoale

Are there any games, shows, or movies where you enjoyed the world way more than the mechanics, main story, and/or main characters? And you feel that the world has so much more potential that what was presented up front.

Zach Mullen

Hey MinnMax! With the "Winters" time coming up and the Holiday season starting soon, my wife and I will be doing themed activities every night, starting December 1st. We have a mix of video games, movies, board games, and holiday recipes to delve into, but haven't completed our list yet. Do any of the CLCs have any favorite media or traditions during the Holidays that we can add? Love the show and all you do!

RickyWinterborn

riders republic and forza 5 are basically the same game and i wanna play both. has there been a time when two games of a similar genre come out at the same time and your TORN about what to play?

Jake Z

How much of the video game industry is technologically deterministic? Would there still be platformers if not for Mario, Metroidvanias without Metroid, battle royales without PUBG?

GreenMountainState

Hey MinnMax, Do you all keep current with any living games? What's the longest amount of time you've stayed current with a game and which living game do you wish you could be active in if given enough time? Destiny 2 has been the one game I've kept up with and I'm really enjoying their shift to weekly Netflix like in game story telling. Cheers

Seth Filbin

Hi everybody! I listen to the Fire Escape Cast and have come to the conclusion that Dan LOVES Breath of the Wild (shocker). I too really enjoyed BOTW, but I'm left with some nagging question. Dan has said in the past that that game was mind-blowingly innovative, and he's not the only one. Plenty out there regard BOTW as one of the most innovative games to come along in quite a while. Now, while I believe it's an excellent game, I've struggled to find the true, never-been-done-before innovations. Am I crazy? Was BOTW really one of the most generation disrupting games ever made? Or was it simply an excellent game that took the Zelda series in an exciting new direction? Thanks! Love the content, keep on keepin' on!

Chris Logan

Hey Ben and the 'horts: Has your enjoyment of a game ever been enhanced because the game was released episodically? If not, why was this such a prominent trend a few years back?

Donnie

Hey friends! If Twitch streaming was a thing in the PS2/original Xbox era, what games do you think would’ve been popular for streaming? What would you have tuned into back then? I’m thinking San Andreas shenanigans would’ve taken the cake

Preston Determan

I have had the thought for a couple years that the next (and probably final) Die Hard movie needs to be named “Old Habits Die Hard”. Someone recently told me that I should put pen to paper and write out an outline or script. Despite the urge to participate in this month’s Better Quest community goal, I’m never going to write that out. What’s the best idea you have had that you know you will never act on?

wawa

What is your favorite Kirby transformation in Super Smash Bros? My favorites are the Minecraft and Bayonetta Kirby.

ChazCheeto

For each cohort, think about your 3 favorite genres. What is the first game you can remember playing in each of those genres? For me, it'd probably be Quest 64 for RPG, Age of Empires for strategy, and Goldeneye for shooter.

Kris Calkins

I'm wondering if the panel could list the mainline Assassin's Creed games in chronological order (I'm including Liberation in this list). Order of Release Chronological Order Assassin's Creed Assassin's Creed Odyssey Assassin's Creed 2 Assassin's Creed Origins Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Assassin's Creed Valhalla Assassin's Creed Revelations Assassin's Creed Assassin's Creed 3 Assassin's Creed 2 Assassin's Creed Liberation Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Assassin's Creed Revelations Assassin's Creed Unity/Rogue Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Assassin's Creed Syndicate Assassin's Creed Rogue Assassin's Creed Origins Assassin's Creed 3 Assassin's Creed Odyssey Assassin's Creed Liberation Assassin's Creed Valhalla Assassin's Creed Unity Assassin's Creed Syndicate

With Jurassic Park Evolution 2 out and not being the typical movie tie in game, what is the weirdest movie tie in game where the genre of game didn't match what you were expecting? The Mummy Demastered was an odd choice as a tie in but was a pretty decent metroidvania compared to the dumpster movie.

Darkwing Drew

Hello Ben & Friends, With the upcoming release of Elden Ring I've been thinking about difficulty in games. What is the most difficult game (for you) that you still enjoy? And what is your favorite type of difficulty mechanic? For me the game is Cuphead, and I really enjoy difficulty when it's bite sized, quickly repayable, and gives you some sort of feedback on the progress you are making.

Punk Wizard Ministries

Howdy Minn Max, I am loving the new Animal Crossing update and DLC. Doing all of the work on my island has even inspired me to tackle some projects around my own house IRL! My question for y’all is what is your favorite real life chore?

Geoff Enright

Hello everyone, What is your "throwing-yourself-at-a-brick-wall-until-you-win" moment you cherish? I recall playing through the game phantom dust during a high school summer, and the game doesn't care about the difficulty scales too much. I recall beating the final boss and I think either I kept track or the game did... but I remember it taking without hyperbole ~46 times. Thanks for the pods! -Geoff aka Groffles

Strange Sloth

Hey MinTroids! I was chatting with my brother in law and he asks me what I’m playing currently and as I proceed to tell him about unpacking his face begins to look disappointed. He later looks up the game on his switch and says ( say in annoying voice) “This games looks stupid!” …I was hurt. Was there ever a time where someone said something bad about a game you really liked and you wanted to prove them wrong.

Strange Sloth

Good day CLC’s I remember a time when I was playing the first life is strange and was really hyped about it. I was in the living room and my girlfriend and her uncle were watching me. They both looked at each other and said isn’t this a “girly game” I both looked at them and said games aren’t meant to be played by a single gender. They’re for everyone. Every since then my girlfriend felt really bad about saying something like that. Her uncle on the other hand is still in that boat. When do you think this stigma that games are for boys and pink is for girls will end? Will it be phased out with time?

Andrew Molnar

Hey everyone! All the talk about Elden Ring got me thinking about how I've always heard such great things about Bloodborne, Souls, etc. but when I tried Bloodborne, I hated it and put it down almost immediately. What's a game (or movie/TV show/book) that seems to be universally praised that you just can't get behind?

Christian Jimenez

Hi, Not a question but just a thank you. In the mornings when I wake up (8AM West Coast) I usually put on something in the background while I get ready for work (wfh). I was watching the Elden Ring reactions video and towards the end the collectors edition was also featured. I immediately rushed to the computer to try and get one. I was able to snag one at Best Buy for XSX (PS5 was sold out) and felt fortunate to have put on that video first thing in the morning. Had I waited until I did my rundown on video game news I feel I would have missed out. So thanks Hanson and Grant for reacting to that gameplay reveal.

Sassy Little Imp

The Wire, The Godfather, and Pet Sounds are often viewed as masterpieces that end up on perpetual to-do lists. They’re important but intimidating landmarks that can be embarrassing for enthusiasts of the medium to admit they’ve never seen or listened to them. Still, they can feel like homework, and in the bottom of our heart, we know we’re never going to get around to them. Is there an equivalent example for games, and what are your personal examples?

Sincerly, Eric

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a good week. Surprise! You just woke up in a World from a Video Game and have to live there forever now. What world would your preference be?

CptCobblePot

Greetings Minnmaxers, New to the Minnmax Patreon and Minnmax content all together! Happy to be lead here from the EZA Trivia Tower episode with Michael Huber! Just wanted to give some love and respect to the panel, glad to see such a positive gaming community focused on games, friends, and getting better! Overjoyed to be here and looking forward to binging a bunch of these Deepest Dive videos shortly! No question this time, just wanted to share a positive message.

Tanner Methven

Hey Minnmax Crew, What’s your hoodie preference? Heavy or light? Zipper or no zipper? How big/deep should the pockets be? Love the show, stay warm.

Joseph Dowdy

Hey MinnMax Crew! Can we get dark for a minute? If you were on Death Row, what would you request for your final meal?

John Lee

Salutations, my friends! You often talk about good podcast games on the Show (i.e. good games to play while listening to podcasts), but what about the reverse? What are your recommendations for good podcasts to listen to while playing games?

Joshua

Hi Everybody! When I got Mass Effect Legendary edition I was most excited to play the shadow broker DLC in Mass Effect 2, I'm not a big DLC person, so this is by far my favorite. Do either of you have a standout favorite DLC you can think of? Thanks!

LB

Howdy MinnMax Show! My friends and I for the longest have been making tournaments out of most games we play. Mario Cart to Madden. Mortal Kombat to Cod 1v1s. And when everyone throws a couple bucks in the pot, games get real intense. Smack talk begins and the sweat flows. You would think we’re playing for millions of dollars. And a good Ol fashion “In yo Face” never goes out of style. Anyone on the panel ever play for money with there friends? Any stories of glory? If not, try it out. Keep up the great show!

MickManga

As a big One Piece fan, I am cautiously optimistic about the up coming live action show. But I'm got to know what does Kyle, being he liked One Piece World Seeker, think of the casting?

Victor Pham

What's the ideal nap length?

Jason Wojnar

What is the most absurd inside joke or pop culture reference between you and your friends that nobody else would ever Understand? Every once in a while my brother will yell "LISTEN UP!" at each other in the same cadence that Jason Alexander does in the intro to the extremely short-lived early 2000s sitcom of the same name (time stamped here https://youtu.be/iv4Q4H2Jb_8?t=168). We fully admit it is stupid and don't know why we both remember this out of all the sitcoms we watched in our childhood.

Tanner Hoisington

There have been a couple of extremely low key releases from Square Enix in the last few weeks from big names such as Yoko Taro's Voice of Cards and Hiroyuki Ito's (director of FF6,9,12) Dungeon Encounters. Is there any new trend to be spotted here? JP industry legends are getting small projects greenlit? Japanese game marketing continuing to be confusing? And have the Cohorts tried these games?

Ari

Why do you get hurt when you touch enemies in video games? In most games you get hurt if you touch an enemy regardless if they are doing their attack animation or not.

PhillyYeetSteak

Hello crew, and thank you to mr. Winter for your generosity! What are yalls feelings on driving in games? Forza Horizon 5 seems to be attracting players who wouldnt normally bother with a racing game, and i wondered where you all were at, if you seek out racing games or dread getting behind the wheel in GTA and the like. Thanks and take care!

Hey Ben, it's been a year and a half since the Fortnight concert in April of 2020. My question is: do you know who Travis Scott is now?

Swiggity Swoo

Computer loving cohorts: if you could have 1 super power, what would it be and REALISTICALLY how would you use it?? Also Extra Life was a blast, good show mate! Love always, SwiggitySwoo

Mark Letarte

Hello All Minns and Maxers. Battlefield 2042 is coming out soon. Which begs the question, what is YOUR favorite field of battle? What is your favorite multiplayer map? Mine would be Library from Goldeneye on the N64. So many great memories from that time in my life being the main reason.

Jordan Greer

Are you at all disappointed that Elden Ring turned out to be Dark Souls 4?(Or 5, depending on who you ask.) Still pumped but there's a slight disappointment that they didn't do something "newer" after Sekiro and Bloodborne showed how well they could do outside of that world.
