Every year on Thanksgiving here in the United States, Jeff Cork, Ben Hanson, Leo Vader, and Jeff Marchiafava gather together to thank video games... by telling a lot of bad jokes. There are so many things to be thankful for in the world of gaming this year, so let's celebrate the year by sharing some jokes.

Please submit a joke about gaming in 2021 as a comment below, through the lens of "I'm thankful for..." and there's a good chance we'll read it during the upcoming stand-alone video. Feel free to submit as many as you want. We're collecting our 20 favorites. These can be jokes about games themselves, news stories, or anything else about the game industry.

I'm thankful for Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject), making it the first Oscar awarded to a video game-related project. Now video games are officially considered Art, and the game may possibly go down in history as the greatest work of art of all time.

I'm thankful for LucasFilm taking a lightsaber to the heart of EA's exclusivity contract for Star Wars games. Now we will get to see LucasArts also make live service, free-to-play titles for the Galaxy Far Far Away.

I'd like to thank the Epic Games for taking it to The Man with their legal suit against Apple. They changed the face of video gaming forever, in ways I'm sure are purely consumer-centric. Epic Games definitely looks out for the little guy!

I'm thankful for Embracer Group, which bought 23 game studios this year. They're a corporation that makes developer studio acquisitions sound slightly less ominous and threatening. You will be Embraced. Resistance is futile.

Serious thankful I'm thankful for all great games that came out this year. Joke/Serious Thankful I am thankful for how easy it is to buy a ps5. Oh wait a full year later and I have yet to see one in the wild. Maybe my Thanksgiving of 2022 I might finally be able to get one.

There's so much to be thankful for this year: I'm thankful for the surprise indie sensation Inscryption, but I have to say, locking me in a house full of weird trinkets and cuckoo clocks and forcing me to play cards all day? Is this a video game or a trip to my grandma's!? I'm so thankful Resident Evil 4 VR released for the Oculus Quest, allowing me to escape the harsh realities of life and go to a fantasy world where a bunch of pitchfork wielding people scream at and attack me for wearing something on my face. I'm thankful Nintendo finally gave us all a reason to revisit our Animal Crossing islands with the big 2.0 update, but the introduction of a real time 14 day pandemic isolation between visits seems like a rare miss for the Big N. With releases like Death's Door, Deathloop and Death Stranding Director's Cut, I'm thankful this year hasn't killed me yet! I'm thankful this chip shortage has not spread to the potato or chocolate industry, but you know who's not thankful? My WAISTLINE.

I'm thankful for all the "Bad Dad" games released this year. Since video games are a huge influence on me, I cannot wait to become a bad dad myself. I think I'll start with abandoning my child while they are at a young age, only to then reveal myself as their father 20-30 years later. It's cool to be a bad dad 😎
