Hello cohorts! Which game have you *purposefully* lost most often? Ex: letting someone else get a mercy win in Mario Kart feels like an obvious answer, but then I remember how many times I purposely blew myself up in Halo 1 just to mess with the physics.

Shakenbake67

Hi, MinnMaxers, After years on the Games Media side of the fence, have you ever been tempted to transition to the Game Development side of the fence. If you did, what would you do in the Game Industry?

Geoff Enright

Hello, howdy, hey, Congratulations everyone, you've been chosen by the gaming gods to create a new E-Sports team. But in order to crush your opposition you need a team name (not named after the Patreon exclusive podcast MinnMax™️). What's your team name and what game or genre are you gonna dominate? -Geoff aka Groffles

Donnie

Hey friends! Regarding the GOTY discussion coming up soon, how do you plan to handle Halo Infinite? Normally that series releases as one game that has a campaign and multiplayer but they’re treating those two modes as separate releases for Infinite. You don’t even need to get campaign to play multiplayer, but they talk about it like one game just releasing in chunks. Do they get an extra slot for awards? Also where will Elden Ring Network Test fall? Number 1? Please?

RiskyChrisP

Howdy, gang! If you could learn to play any video game piece on the instrument of your choice, what would it be? My personal pick would be the piece “Doors to Possibilities” from Catherine Full Body on piano (https://youtu.be/nRFqyai08Is). Playing “One Winged Angel” on an organ would also be cool, and there’s a great video of a church organist playing it to a congregation that seemingly has no idea it’s from a video game (https://youtu.be/_5ECwiEeh-Y)

Anthony Parson

Hello, everyone! My best friend, Josh H. has fallen off the gaming wagon. I can't get him to play anything anymore! I'm convinced, if at all possible that a perfectly constructed inspirational speech. . . . Or maybe a shout-out will remind him of what's really important in life. Video games. -Anthony (all the way from Kentucky!)

What do you do if there's 5 urinals and 3 are already taken (the 2 ends and the middle)? Do you wait for one person to finish, or do get real comfortable and sandwich yourself between one of the ends and middle?

Andrew Burnes

We all have our favorite games, but do you look back on any particular sessions or playthroughs as your favorites? I have standout memories collaborating with my cousin and finally finishing Shadow of the Colossus way back in the day and that still colors my feelings toward that game.

Mark Ramirez

Is it weird when you talk to someone with the same name as you? How do you feel about people with a different spelled same name? Do you feel a need to assert that you are the better version?

SlyCut

Hello all, What is the worst non-pain, physical feeling? Scratching a chalk board, maybe? A close second for me might be chewing coconut. But the worst has to be when you sit on a public restroom toilet... and the seat is still warm.

Crystal Keyframes Anmation

Hello Wholesome Hanson and his fine feathered friends! Do you find that podcast games more increase your enjoyment of the game, or the podcast, and why? Also, specifically for Emily, as someone who loves music, how do you feel about the idea of podcast games in general?

claudio

Hey Minnmax! What's the last game you put over 100 hours into?

wittynicknamehere .

Hello, Cohorts. I posed this question last week, but way too late to be seen before you recorded. So I thought I'd try again. I'm feeling pretty dispirited by the gaming world lately. Between the general hideousness at Activision and Riot and the like, the sneering cynicism behind Cyberpunk's release last year, and the increasing feeling that no one at these companies cares AT ALL about legacies (as evidenced by the botch job of the GTA "definitive" editions and Nintendo crapping out the laziest, often broken ROM ports of their N64 catalogue onto the Switch), it's just really deflating. I'm far older than any of the cohorts (yes, even JeffM, by a bit), so I appreciate that Minnmax’s youth tends to bring a pluck and idealism that I often have to work to find in myself. So, I have this favor to ask you today: will whoever is on this week's show please tell me some positive things they've observed and appreciated in this industry lately? I would appreciate it so much.

Joshua Caleb

Hey Ben-10 and the Jets, What are your thoughts on games with multiple endings/routes. I have a hard enough time finding the time/energy to play a game once, I can't imagine playing it multiple times, especially lengthy RPGs, in order to see all the different ways the story could've gone or to get more character backstory and motivations that were missing from the route I took.

Nathan Freeman

Howdy Cohorts, do any of y’all enjoy playing for platinum trophies on PS? I’ve got a couple in games I’ve really enjoyed and my oldest son just got his first in Miles Morales and it lit a fire for him. Thanks

Dominic Cichocki

Can the Nier: Replicant soundtrack count as some of the best gaming music of 2021? Had to believe that game came out this year... (I am aware it's a remake! But still!)

RickyWinterborn

If you had a million dollars to jumpstart a business what would it be? Develop an indie game? Open a cozy café? Shoot a horror movie?

Seth Filbin

Hello all! Even though many good games have been dropping over the last couple weeks, I haven't been playing any of them. Why? Because I am hopelessly and inexplicably addicted to Farming Simulator '19. I know, I know. Normally I don't play sim-games but I CAN'T. PUT. IT. DOWN. And it's not even that good! I can't explain it. So my question is: Have you ever been so hooked on an out-of-left-field game that you ignored all others and wondered why this game has such a hold on you? Seriously, I lose so much time to this game that I go into a time warp. Not since RDR2 (Jeff'M knows) or Witcher 3 have I been so addicted. Help! Thanks for all you guys do! Love the content!

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts and special guest Emily! I've been sick since Friday, and it sucks. Just the flu, confirmed not COVID. Anyways, what are some of your favorite things to do to feel better when you're ill? Is there some Minnesotan home remedy that you enjoy? Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Jeorin

Greetings Horse Girls and House Hunters, 2021 saw the release of two prominent video games featuring giant women: Resident Evil Village's Lady Dimitrescu and Guardians of the Galaxy's Lady Hellbender. Which major video game release should get on that train and feature the next giant Lady? My prediction: Elden Ring.

Aaron U

Hello MinnMax! The last few years I've become more annoyed the with lengths of objectives and levels in games. I feel that they're often just a bit too long and become a chore. Is there an aspect to games that you used to be fine with but now annoy you?

Joe Kafchinski

Halloween specials or Christmas specials?

Shawn Mills

Would you prefer the video game awards to be more focused on the games receiving the awards or more focused on teasing new games coming out in the future?

Fatt Mish

Hello to all Minnmaxers! Is RPG the worst descriptor for a genre of game ever? I mean, it makes sense for tabletop or pen and paper games, but for video games, it doesn't make much sense at all. Batman: Arkham Asylum is an RPG because you are role-playing as Batman, but Final Fantasy X isn't really an RPG because, well, you're just commanding a party to do certain actions in a less direct, and less role-playing way. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think we need a better term for traditional role-playing video games.

Benjamin Jennings

Hey Ben and guests, is there any is there any game music you have been listening to this year from a game you haven’t played? I have been listening to the Unpacking soundtrack regularly when I go to sleep but I still haven’t played the game.

LB

Howdy, Karaoke, have you done it? What was the song? Keep up the great shows!

PhillyYeetSteak

Ahoy hoy! Enough about games already, am i right?! Who is your favorite fictional character that has never been in a game? Any medium is on the table here...

Kyle Silva

While a show on the Thanksgiving leftovers didn’t end up winning for New Show Plus this week, I’m still curious, what Thanksgiving leftovers do you guys still have in your fridge?

I recently had a jaw infection. I have never been in a hospital over night, never had surgery. I agreed to a “bed side” surgery as they coined it, with local anesthetic, because to get put under I couldn’t have eaten recently. “Bed side” seemed quaint, charming, dare I say, fashionable even. They proceeded to walk me through the ER where people were screaming, retching, groaning in agony, and talking about somebody being shot in the heart. I was sat down in a bed where the light above flickered. The nurse took some blood and mentioned that she loved my “Silent Hill” shirt, and proceeded to twitch like the nurses from Silent Hill and said the flickering light was perfect. I couldn’t disagree on that. I asked if she was a fan, thinking things were turning up, but she had only seen the movies… What happened next was straight out of the hospital scene in “Jacob’s Ladder”. After signing a waiver, they began their great work. I writhed, and seethed, and groaned out through the sweat drenched torture, astonished that this bed side surgery was something other people had agreed to. After the nightmare, through my shaking, and adrenaline fueled breathing, I asked how many people were capable of enduring that, and that was when they told me I was only the second person to ever do a bed side surgery and the other one was not complicated like mine ended up being(which they did not anticipate). The only thing I could think to tell them was, “At least now I know what kind of man I am. A coward. If I were tortured, I would have given up you and your families in a heart beat”. Anyways, my main point is this: if given the option to either have a “bed side” surgery, or “go under”… go with the “bed side” and see what you are really made of. TL;DR What is the worst pain you have ever experienced in your feeble, mortal life, and what did you learn about yourself?

AnAttackCorgi

Since we're talking music in video games, what’re your favourite "warning siren" sounds in gaming/pop culture? For me, it's a toss-up between the Imperial Siren and Halo’s Pillar of Autumn alarm when covenant board your crafts. Fun sidenote, I think replicating the nuclear launch warning alarm is illegal.

mngoldy

What unpopular gaming opinion do you hold that you're willing to die on the mountain for? An example is I think Nintendo Wii U is a better console then the Wii.

austin nickelson

If you sleep with the tv on; what is your go to tv show/movie you go to bed to? My wife has Brooklyn 99 on a constant loop it feels like.

Jason Wojnar

From about 10 years of age when it came out to 13 years old, my father wouldn't let me play San Andreas even after letting me play 3 and Vice City. On one hand, I get it, but on the other hand, there were already literal drug dealers and gang members in my school, so I don't know what extra harm would have been done by letting me play it. My brother (3 years my senior) was allowed to play it and at first I couldn't even watch until my father realized there was literally no room in the apartment I could be in if he was watching an adult show and my brother was playing, so he at least let me watch my brother play eventually. The weird thing is, I feel like it created a negative relationship with that game. I feel like I de-hyped myself from it to make myself feel better that I couldn't play it. Once I did get to play it when I was about 13, I was unimpressed with the whole thing because I already decided it wasn't worth my time. Only now am I playing it again and realizing it is probably the best of the PS2 era games (if a little long). Long story short, what was it like to finally play the game your parents forbid for so long?

Jonathan Fenn

Hey Minnmaxers, what's the best game in which the name of the game is said by a character? It's trickier than it sounds - technically Kass the parrot sings the phrase 'Breath of the Wild' in the Champion's Ballad DLC, but as no one ever says 'The Legend of Zelda' , I'm not sure if this counts. Merry Advent! Jonathan Jonathan

Shawn ODell

Hello Minnmaxers, Long time listener, first time commenter, we all love video game music, but what we really need to discuss is podcast intro music. What makes for good podcast music and what podcasts do you listen to have the best intro? Personally, I think Fire Escape Cast has the best intro in the industry.

Sean Mason

Hey Ya’ll What’s a significant fork in road in life you’ve encountered? Best, Sean M.

SenttheProphet

Hi MinnMax! Thank you for all the beautiful hard work - hoping there is rest ahead in the coming holidays! I want to hear your thoughts on the great debate - the left thumb stick being in the “Xbox” or “PlayStation” orientation, which is more comfortable for you? As a recent lucky owner of both a ps5 and Series X (my first Xbox), I have been astounded to find the Xbox orientation more comfortable. Wishing now that the dual sense could somehow be morphed to switch the d pad and left joystick. Having my thumbs parallel, right thumb on face buttons and left thumb on the joystick makes a huge difference. Where do you all fall?

Sassy Little Imp

You’re standing next to an evil alien duplicate of yourself and a bystander needs to evaporate the imposter. The only thing they know about the real “you” is that you love videogames. What one sentence do you say to convince this random person that you’re the real you?

Darkwing Drew

Hey Ben and crew! I just wanted to thank you all for putting together Trivia Tower, one of the best things on the internet! Here's my question. If Trivia Tower was to be made into a Jackbox game, which trivia segments would you all like to see in there, and why?

Darkwing Drew

We've all been there... that Arcade Fire song from their Neon Bible album comes on, and we are instantly transported to the plains of Kalimdor fighting and dying FOR THE HORDE!... oh. that's just me? What song or album is so tied to a video game, that you can't listen to it without seeing the game in your mind?

God's Garage

What’s one video game composer you wish you could talk to, but have never had the chance to?

Riley

Hi MinnMax, What is a song from a game that has made the trek across playlists and audio devices for you? My example would be The Trail from the Witcher 3 soundtrack. I have it on multiple playlists, multiple versions, and anything that plays music at me must have this song because I have never tired of it. Happy month of Holidays to the crew!

GreenMountainState

Hey MinnMax, With the internet focused in on Halo Infinites battle pass, I was wondering what the last battle pass or season pass the panel had purchased? Does it ever feel good to purchase and play through one of these passes? I play through Destiny's season pass, but I'm really there for the seasonal story beats. Cheers

Ari

Is there something wrong with me? I find myself getting excited about updated versions and re-releases of my favorite games and end up pulling out my old consoles to play the original versions. I couldn’t get comfortable playing Mario 64 with the switch, so I took out my N64. When I saw all the hate for GTA Collection, I took out my PS2. Have you ever done this yourself, where one version of a game upset you to play another?

TookusTalk

What is a game series you have a soft spot for but have never actually played?

Leafeonn (Josh K)

WHATS UP MIXMANNS Long time caller, first time listener, here. Recently with Skyrim's rerelease, it had made me think about my favorite intros of all time. What is your favorite intro to a game? For me, playing through Uncharted 2 for the first time was just jaw dropping the entire way through, and that intro on the train just sucks you in immediately and lets you know what kind of a ride you're in for.

Richard Varall

Hey, long time listener, new subscriber here. I have a question that I think is a fun conversation starter: what is the first e-Mail you ever sent? What year was it, who were you e-Mailing and what was it about? Personally, my family got their first PC in 1996 and I had just seen a first look article of the original Pokémon games in Nintendo Power. The article specified that there were no current release plans for Pokémon in the US. I was so taken by the idea of the game that I asked my dad to help me write an e-Mail to Nintendo, pleading my case for why the games should be released here. I even made specific points about how they would likely sell more link cables so that kids could trade Pokémon with each other. In hindsight, Nintendo were clearly priming the pump for a worldwide Pokémon release the following year, but 12 year old me was oblivious and wanted to make sure that Pokémon came to the US. Nintendo responded with a friendly, but generic customer service response.

MrButtons

Hey Cohorts There was a recent story written over at Kotaku about how bots have begun to negatively impact the in-game economy for Amazon's New World. I'm curious how you all feel about the use of bots in video games. I understand it creates an easier transition for some players into multiplayer games like Halo and Fortnite, but without the option to turn them off, I also feel like it can bring the experience of a game down sometimes. What are your thoughts?

Jared B

What is the best knock knock joke?
