Howdy folks! I have an irrational fear of condiments and most sauces, which makes it difficult for me to play games I would normally enjoy such as Cook, Serve, Delicious! Are there any games out there that you really wanted to like but just couldn't stomach playing after running into something that triggered a personal phobia or otherwise disgusted you?

Muffyn Crumbs

Hey Ben and Crew! I was thinking of Grounded (the Last of Us documentary) the other day and realized that Naughty Dog hasn't released a documentary about the development of The Last of US Part 2 yet. Do you think they're making one? Maybe they'll announce it when they announce Factions?

Bezlo

Hey guys! If you could bring one franchise back from the grave, but had to change its genre, what game would it be? Thank you!

Thomas Wilson

What is a place you have traveled to that reminded you most of a specific spot in an open world video game?

Ramses Garcia

Playing Halo’s Infinite bland story has got me thinking, should developers listen to fans less? Halo 4 was supposed to be a 3 game arc. It had interesting new enemies and bad guy. After fan outcry they course corrected hard and ended story in a comic. They have again course corrected after 5. Now we have a story that feels like fillet episodes in animes.

Funky Duck

Hey minnmax, My fiancee recently nostalgia purchased the old Humongous game Putt Putt Travels Through Time, and actually had a fun time playing it (turns out time loop games were not just a 2021 thing). Are there any games from your childhood that you've returned to, and did they hold up? Personally, I'm afraid to tarnish my good memories of Chex Quest and Crunchling Adventure with a replay. Also as a betterquest goal, I'm going to brush up on my Python basics and look into classes online.

What triple AAA studio would you like to see make a game with indie-sized resources? And which indie studio with triple A time/budget? My indie company picks are either Powerhoof or Cobysoft Co. and either Remedy or Nintendo EPD for triple A

It’s Christmas 2022, and your best bud at work is looking to buy the hot new gaming toy their kid. Which of the following do you think will be the biggest headache to find December 2022, without the use of scalpers? 1. PSVR2 2. PS5 (can combine with above if easier for sake of discussion 3. Xbox series x 4. The latest Oculus Quest 5. Nintendo Switch if Breath of the Wild 2 drops between October - December

BEEFCAKE

It seems like every year now there’s a game that’s a surprise announcement and released within 6 months, like last year with Metroid dread. What company do you think is going to do it this year? Also, what is your pie in the sky Hope surprise for this year? (and we all know breath of the wild 2, but let’s try to think outside the box)

My wife and I just agreed to buy a house, and the looming prospect of emptying our savings account has me terrified. This is objectively a little silly: the entire reason we saved that money in the first place was to buy a house, after all. Still, I've been pretty stressed about the whole thing. But then I realized I was doing the real-life version of hoarding potions and buffs in an RPG because I "might need them later." That thought made me laugh, and it also helped me recognize that we're doing the smart thing: using our resources at the appropriate time rather than holding onto them for a future scenario that may never come to pass. I say all that to ask, have you ever caught yourself falling into video game behavior patterns? And has it ever turned out to be helpful?

RynaGoGo

Howdy Y’all! Congratulations, you are all Mega Man or Mega Woman. To defeat the evil Fire Escape Cast you need to decide one thing to kill to gain its power. That catch is it has to be something you’re confident you can take out by yourself. What have you killed and what power did you receive? I’ve killed a skunk and gained the power “fart sprinkler”.

Joshua Duperoy

My early prediction for 2022 is that Horizon Forbidden West gets a higher metacritic score than Elden Ring. I think Fromsoftware is an amazing studio and Elden Ring is going to be a GOTY contender, but open world games are hard to nail on the first attempt and I just worry the game might have a few rough edges not unlike the first Horizon game had, except Guerilla studios will have had the experience from ther first go around to lean on.

Toby King

Craziest gaming related conspiracy theory you’ve heard of in recent times: go! I’ll start with this one I just farted out: Shigeru Miyamoto had Iwata professionally assassinated and covered it up so they could release Super Mario Run.

Strange Sloth

What games are you hoping do well in 2022 but you know they have a chance of getting reviewed poorly?

Steven Lambson

We know you aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but what makes you look twice at a book to learn more or purchase? For my better quest goal I am 1/4 of the way done with my second book revision.

It's Hugo's Nook

Hey Cohorts! With Uncharted and Mario movies bookending this year what are your predictions of a new Videogame-based movie that will be announced throughout 2022? It doesn't have to come out this year, just be announced

Victor Pham

What are you gaming biases? For example, do certain art styles automatically turn you off from a game?

IanTClark

Hello Folks! According to my 2021 summary from PlayStation, the game I played the most last year (on PS5) was The Witcher 3. Somehow I played 101 hours! I guess I must have went back and wrapped up some side quests form an old save file and knock out some of the massive DLC content. What was the oldest game that you played the most (and maybe forgot about) in 2021?

BEEFCAKE

I thought of another question! $70 billion is a lot of money. Why buy Activision? With that kind of money you can build your own activision. You could spend $1,000,000,000. 70 times and open 70 studios. Why is call of duty and candy crush so important when you could build your own?

Garrett Hulfish

We already know a lot of what's coming this year, but what would you like to see in 2022? This can be a series, game design, representation, etc.

Tanner Hoisington

My other favorite gaming podcast, The Back Page Pod, does special episodes where they draft games for a future "mini" console. They set the genres (Adventure/RPG, Fighting/Sports, Platformer, etc) and snake pick titles on that platform. I would love to hear y'all – either with those categories or freestyle – see who could build the best Gamecube Mini. Cheers!

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts! What's better: all the games that let you name your character (or is otherwise unnamed), or all the games where you can't change the name? As a quick comparison, here's a small list of notable games for each: Changeable: Ocarina of Time (and most LoZ games) Persona 5/Royal/Strikers Mass Effect series Minecraft Skyrim (debatable) Undertale Unchangeable: Breath of the Wild God of War series Horizon Zero Dawn Red Dead Redemption (sorry, JeffM) Halo (except Halo Reach!) Solar Ash (yes this is pandering) Love to hear your thoughts! Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Hey, remember the Nintendo DS? I have been revisiting it recently in the calm before the 2022 storm and it turns out I missed...almost everything? Did anybody else find themselves ignoring this device at the time? I think the fancy new HD consoles of the era made it easy to put this thing in the drawer and forget about it. Do those Zelda games hold up? Should I just play all 3 of these Castlevania games? Hey, there's an original GTA game for this thing, that's wild. What were your favorites and what games do you think have a shot at holding up all these years later?

McCracKenway

I have a very important thought I want to get Kyle's opinion on: Solar Ash is an alternate universe version of The Pathless. Mechanics based on speed, boss battles against giant creatures, and similar art styles--they feel to me like two versions of the same game that resulted from a timeline split midway through development. And I guess to make this a more discuss-able question, are there any other games out there that you think could be the same game in different timelines?

Excluding Kojima character names, what are the top 5 most ridiculous video game character names in history and can we all agree that Gooigi is #1?

bizkiut (Nick S.)

Hey CLCs, Been playing through valheim for the first time lately with a group of friends and I realized that I have now logged in over 133 hours. This game has it's talons in me like I am in highschool and early college again. It's the only game I have been playing lately. What's the most recent game that has made you feel like you are back in the good ole days playing games with your friends? What game are you looking forward to that you think might be able to grip you in that fashion? Thanks! Nick S.

Hello, my question is for everyone, but mainly Janet, as she typically has some interesting thoughts on classic games generally considered great, (Shadow of the Colossus and the Sims come to mind). First of all, no shade is being thrown, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. My question is: should the time in which a game came out always be considered when measuring an old game? In other words, should issues with jank or scope be excused when forming a current opinion on an old game simply because of the technical limits of the time in which it was released? Or should it be viewed as if it came out in the present and judged accordingly?

Devin

Helllllooooo Ben, Janet, JeffM and Kyle, I'm excited for a lot of the games scheduled, and presmued, to be coming out in 2022, but let's be real, we don't know if anything is really going to release this year, right? So, if you were presented with an ultimatum right now that you can play any and every game released in 2022, but you never get to play any game released in 2023, OR you can play any and every game released in 2023, but you don't get to play any game that released in 2022, which would you choose? Personally, I'd choose 2022, so I could play Starfield, but then it will probably get delayed 2023 and I'll never to get to play it. How would you solve this dilemma for yourselves? Thanks, Devin

BeatenDownBrian

Hey gang, hope everyone is happy and well. Could this be the last generation where we buy games? Okay, let me walk that back a little. The option to buy games will always be there, but lately I've been wondering if we're heading towards a future that removes the need to buy them? Granted, this scenario needs a lot of "ifs" and "buts" to happen before it could be a reality, but let’s just say Playstation launched a service to rival Game Pass, and for the sake of argument, it does. All first party, and some third party games available day one etc.. The two are now on even footing, which leads to even more competition. Outside of buying more studios, the logical way of strengthening their service is through third party deals, “day one on Playstation” or “timed exclusive on Xbox,” that sort of thing. Do we eventually reach a point where the vast majority of anything worth playing is on one service or the other, and so while the option to buy is there, is there really any point to buying anymore? (I don’t mention Nintendo because they’ll probably still be charging $60 for MK8 in 2052, and obviously collectors are gonna wanna collect.)

Cade Mead

Hey crew, Do you go out of your comfort zone on your own, or does it always take an outside push? And then, what's the smallest effort you would count as /actually/ leaving your comfort zone?

Christian Jimenez

Hello, Do you ever wonder how many people share your name? Sometimes after beating a game and letting the credits scroll I keep an eye on those names and see what names I recognize. Insert Leo DiCaprio pointing at TV meme image here, hey I know someone with that name. Thanks.

Kyle Silva

If you were to pick 3 video game characters to be the main characters of a Three’s Company style sitcom, where they all live together in the same rental apartment, going in comedic hijinks, who would be the three best characters for this show?

Tyler Kasishke

I couldn’t tell you where it happens in the game or why, but the line “Eliminate the threat…ATTAAAAAACK!” is permanently engrained in my brain from the game X-Squad. Some guy yelled it before a big encounter or boss fight. My brother and I must have died a million times and it wasn’t skippable. What boss fight or big battle quip has permanently lodged itself in your head?

Ronn

Hello Ronn with Two N's here. My BetterQuest goal is to pass this semester of college! I am a senior at one of the bigger universities here in Florida and I just want to be done with school! I am a plant science major and am currently taking Physics 2, Primatology, and Evolutionary Biology. My only goal is to pass. C's get degrees and that is what I want. have a great day!

Wesley Minner

If you stall on a game and come back to it years later intending to finish it, do you pick up your old save, or do you start fresh? If you usually prefer to start a new save, how many hours would have to be on your old save before you change your mind and use the old save instead?

Phil McKrackup

Hey Minnmax! 2021 was a rough year for my wife and I. The worst of it being my father in law passing away from Covid-19. We are just looking ahead trying to stay positive and truly appreciating and cherishing every moment we have with our loved ones. My better quest goal for you all would just be that. Appreciate and cherish every moment you have with the people you care about. And be positive and happy! Life’s too short not to be! I hope you all have a great 2022 full of true happiness!

Andrew Burnes

What critically celebrated game from 2021 do you think will be looked back on the least fondly? I'm thinking it might be Halo Infinite. It hasn't been two months since that game came out and that overlong, repetitive campaign is already starting to sour in my mind.

Jonathan Wright

Childhood, teenaged, and adult. What are your favorite board/card games for each different stage of your life?

TommenDotGif

Do you watch or avoid pre-release media for games you are hyped for? It's always hard for me to decide if I want to watch trailers/interviews or dodge something that might be a spoiler

Bob Buel

Howdy Minnxes - a quick BetterQuest update. So inquiring minds will recall that my BetterQuest goal is to try a new type of food once a month for the entire year. So a few weeks ago, I started the adventure with a trip to Ssong's Korean Corn Dogs in beautiful Ridgefield, NJ. I got one that was half spicy sausage and half mozzerella with some sugar, ketchup and mustard on top, and another that was a crab stick topped with spicy mayo. Familiar yet uniquely delicious, with a certain comfort food factor as well. This gets the Buel stamp of approval! Korean corn dogs, you're alright in my book!

Shimmy Neutron

Another Daily Double for you Hansen. Finish the end of this sentence, By the end of this console generation I hope games show a significant improvement in "blank". My personal answer is A.I. whether it be improving stealth games or A.I. companions. Also with better A.I., we could possibly get more communicative with npcs. Many a times have I wish I could respond to a choice driven game with nuance. How about you all? #2 Last rage quit and why, I lost 200k souls in dark souls 3 couple days ago.

Hunter Sax

Hey hi hello, What's the most innocent moment in a game or film, that's mostly intended for older audiences? Vice versa? Most dark moment in a game or film intended for young audiences?

coshimitsu

What are some of your favourite non-English language movies?

Hootz

You've been given a gift of $1000, but the only way you can receive it is if you invest it in the stock of any one single company in the video game industry. Keeping your 2022 predictions in mind, who are you guys gonna buy into to make the biggest return?

Apocaly-Potion You are an amazing adventurer approaching a dungeon and an alchemist approaches you with the following potions, which one do you take and why? 1. Mana-tea = Your health is halved but your mana regenerates twice as fast 2. Regen-erf = You constantly regenerate health but your damage is halved 3. Flash-ank = You move twice as fast but the enemies attack is doubled 4. 1Up-ping = You get an extra life but all enemies now gain shields Cheers from Toronto Canada R0CK3T5YNT5T aka Keith(Rocket Scientist)

Hey crew, Now that we are over a year into the new gen, whats yalls storage situation on your consoles? I have a ps5, and i already have an extra internal ssd and an extral hard drive. Are any of you struggling with space?

Linn

Pick your favourite console. You are then allowed to take one thing from each of the other two consoles. What's your mix? (I would take a PS5 with an XBOX Gamespass and the Nintendo Exclusives)

Jarell Pryor

Hey all, the Microsoft Activision purchase is still stuck in my head. But I feel like in 18 months, it's gonna feel like old news. But I'm not sure that's the case for the wider (less industry focused) audience of gaming. In terms of recognition from the wider public, when do you think it'll be common knowledge that Microsoft will own Call of Duty? Does "everyone" already know? Is it gonna only happen when the next Call of Duty comes out? Honestly, did the wider public ever know who Activision is?

Eric Merrill

How do you decide between retweeting or favoriting a post on Twitter?
