With all the Dying Light 2 coverage I was wondering about first person camera games. Is the camera really first person, as if we’re supposed to be seeing through the character’s eyes? Or is it like the character is wearing a body cam? I’m wondering because it seems like in any first person game you can only see the hands and sometimes part of the wrists. But I’m real life I can see all the way up to my shoulders, chest, waist, legs, etc.

Hello MinnMax! With the Nintendo Direct around the corner it's a no brainer that Hollow Knight Silksong will be scheduled for a Februrary 14th release which leads to my question: how do you plan to juggle the absurd amount of high profile games releasing this month? Do you stick to one game and take your time or take a bite out of every piece of cake knowing that you likely won't be coming back for seconds after the due date?

Howdy Cohorts - In light of Ubisoft and others trying to make NFT's in gaming a thing, I can't help but feel like this is one of the most blatant money grabs in recent gaming memory. It's a little scary to think this is the next step in micro-transaction, but with so much corporate push right now it feels inevitable. What is the gangs thoughts on NFT's?

Jeorin

Greetings MinnMax crew, What high profile open world release do you think will overshadow Horizon 3? Zero Dawn had Breath of the Wild and Forbidden West has Elden Ring. My guess: Breath of the Wild 2 (sorry Kyle)

Something that I have always thought about is the story behind Too Human. Of course Denis Dyack is infamous in the developer world but I always wonder just how much impact a director can have on their game considering the amount of input that is required of the team. I think in any line of work there's always some sort of fall-guy and it always seems like the leader is essentially the person who can handle the most criticism. The question really is what you think makes a good game director versus a bad one and how that might play a role in not only the success of a video game but it's critical success as well?

AnAttackCorgi

Hello MinnMax Panel! All of you are throwing a bbq and inviting up to 10 videogame characters. +1s are allowed, and it’s BYOB/BYOM(eat) Who’s on your list for a fun time? Cheers!

Jordan Brown

Hey Ben and the Cohorts, If you could have any musician that has not worked on a video game soundtrack before compose a soundtrack for you, who would it be and what would the game be?

BobaFets

Hello MinnMax, question if you had to be solitary confinement for a year but it meant that you’d never have to worry about money problems would you do it? I think it would be tough but the prospect of not havi g ro worry about bills, mortgages and free to pursue more experiences might make it worth it and if the pandemic has taught me anything it’s that I need to focus on what’s really important. Keep up the fantastic work love to see a Minnesota outlet doing so well.

Hello MinnMax, question if you had to be solitary confinement for a year but it meant that you’d never have to worry about money problems would you do it? I think it would be tough but the prospect of not having to stress about bills, mortgages and instead being able to be free to pursue more experiences might make it worth it and if the pandemic has taught me anything it’s that I need to focus on what’s really important. Keep up the fantastic work love to see a Minnesota outlet doing so well.

Hello Bleo Garzorski, what is the most embarrassing song lyric to you? "Life is too short to last long" from 'Bored to Death' always struck me in a negative way. Keep on keepin' on!

austin nickelson

Hey minnmax, I was just thinking about how movies have combo packs where you get a physical+digital copy combo pack and was wondering if there could ever be a possibility for games to ever do something like that. I know financially it would never make sense probably, but if you could make that work somehow, how could you see it working? I know remote play exists but could consoles focus on cloud gaming apps where you don’t have to rely connecting specifically to the consoles?

Justin Hughes

Hey everyone. Why has the tactics genre felt the need to include the genre in the title of their games? Gears Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Orge just to name a few. Do any other genres do this?

Jared Piers

Hello Minnmaxesotans, what do you think is the hardest game you could beat if you were put in the main characters situation? For this question, you are given all of the equipment that the main character gets in the game but you don't magically gain skills that you don't possess in real life. For example, in Zelda, you get a bow but you are only asbgood of an archer as you are right now.

Kris Calkins

Since Ben asked last week I'm writing in to say that the joke I'd like you guys to make more often (doesn't have to be everytime) is whenever Ben asks the rhetorical question "Am I nuts/crazy/insane?" I would like whoever he's volleying that to to say yes but then continue the conversation as normal. Thank you.

Leafeonn (Josh K)

WHATS UP MINNMAX KINGS AND QUEENS, With the Oscar nominations being revealed and the Uncharted movie is finally releasing NEXT WEEK, what is your favorite video game movie? Do you think a movie based off of a video game will ever win, let alone be nominated for Best Picture? If so, what do you think will finally set that precedent and why will it be The Super Mario Bros. movie? Your pal, Leafeonn

LB

Hey cohorts Scrolling through the ol Game Pass and seen the beloved Fallout 76 sitting there. Think I’m gonna give it a download. I remember Leo was playing this not to long ago, and was wondering if he could give his final review or thoughts on it. Thanks

BEEFCAKE

You ever talk to someone that makes you feel like you’re a big ol dummy? Like they’re so smart, you question whether or not you HAVE a fully functioning brain? If so, who?

Jesse Jones

Hey gang At the risk of the Nintendo Direct making this question obsolete, I would like to know why everyone is so sure that BOTW 2 isn’t coming out this year? Is it an educated guess based on your industry experience, rumours, a gut feeling or something else? I have noticed in the past that Nintendo doesn’t typically give their holiday game a full reveal/release date until around E3 time. I want to remain optimistic that the game is coming out this year but am curious about what’s fuelling your doubt! Thanks for all the great content everyone!

Juan M

Hey y'all Vox made a video on the search for a new inhabitable planet and apparently one of the options is a planet where one side always faces its star and the other side always faces away. Which side would you rather live on? Feel free to add anything to this sci-fi future! Here's the link if curious: https://youtu.be/lrAFaONyLtU?t=242

irrational_kind

Why hasn't there been a live service single player story focused game? Single player game that gets yearly story expansion without reinventing the gameplay (like mmo but for single player) Thank you

Brenton and Meriam

I just tried my first pb&j EVER in the past couple months! I'm allergic to nuts, but my sister suggested a sunflower seed based alternative that's apparently pretty close to the real deal. Now that I've entered this brave new world, I've just got to know. Which jam/jelly is best in a pb&j?

Chris Logan

Hello Ben and the 'Horts! A few years back there was a boom in episodic video games. Telltale led the way, but eventually all kinds of genres and franchises gave it a shot. Remember Resident Evil Revelations 2? My question is, looking back today do you think any of these games provided a better experience for the player by being released episodically instead of all at once?

Hunter Sax

On theme with all this difficulty talk, has there ever been a game others claim is very difficult that you found easy? Or claimed to be easy that you just couldn't get to click?

Jason Macdonald

Howdy MinnMax crew! Like many of you I have been enjoying Pokemon Arceus more than any Pokemon game in the last decade. I have also gotten my first VR headset recently (Oculus Quest 2) and couldn't help but wonder, where are all the Pokemon-like creature collecting games on VR?! Maybe it's just because I'm new to the space but I really havent found much and it seems ripe for the picking (would love suggestions if you have any!)

Mark Ramirez

Hey Ben and crew! Every week Janet asks what’s good and no one ever answers the question. Can someone please tell Janet what is good?

Will Smith

Hey MinnMax, have you seen the new Jurassic World olympics promo and what do you think of them? (In case you haven't, you see a person on skiis being chased by a velociraptor or Shaun White getting air on a half pipe and going over a non-plussed looking apatosaurus and then the Jurassic Park music starts playing.) My question is what are your favorite/weirdest cross promotional advertisements? Honorable mention to the Arby's/Shovel Knight kids meal promotion.

Jeff D

Hello Minnmax! EA has recently announced they are disappointed in Battlefield 2042’s sales performance. While showering I single handily have came across a way to save this franchise…my merging it with fellow EA I.P…Command and Conquer: Red Alert. That’s right we need tesla coils, Siberian huskies, Soviet blimps and FMV added to Battlefield ASAP. What two dormant, struggling or tired out IPs can you merge together to make a new revitalized kickass franchise?

Victor Garcia

Hi everyone, Are there any weird food combinations or "food sins" that you like? When I was a kid, I would heat up a flour tortilla, put mayo and ketchup on it, spread it all around and then roll it up and eat it. In my adult life, I prefer to buy Goober peanut butter and jelly stripes that has both in a single jar, which people on the internet say is the wrong way to do it.

Braulio Martinez

You guys. There is a new PlatinumGames title coming out. Babylon's Fall is out on March 3rd and I have heard nothing about it since it was announced. Twitter just showed me an ad and my jaw dropped. Discuss?

Peter Slater

Hi gang! Might sound like a strange/simple question but are games toughest at the beginning or end? At the start of a game you don't have resources/skills/knowledge that you do at the end so can the start of a game ever be the hardest part? Pete from London, England

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friends, What's your favorite "natural marker" in a open world game? Something you see from a distance that illustrates what is over there. For instance, pigeons where you can leap of faith in Assassin's Creed

Shawn Mills

What is your favorite super bowl halftime commercial?

Phil McKrackup

Hey Minnmax! I’ve been playing Dying Light 2 and I’m really enjoying it, but I never played the first game. My question is, what’s your favorite game you’ve played that’s a sequel to a game you’ve never played?

YARF

Anyone seen the movie Belle? Anime movie, in theaters now, same director who did Summer Wars. I enjoyed it! BUT… The adults are failures at adulting. Has the general negligence of adults in “young adult/teenagers are the heroes” entertainment ever broken the immersion? There has to be a way of having a young protagonist without sacrificing the competence, responsibility, and intelligence of the adults. Not to say all adults are those three things, but we have some otherwise competent folks throughout the movie, suddenly having SUBSTANTIAL lapses in judgement LOLOL.

PoorAndCurly

Hey Cohorts, What is the one single greatest video on YouTube that you weren't involved in?

G-Max Thoeren

Are there any games you wish had a different difficulty mode than what they currently offer? An easier mode for Dark Souls? A nightmare mode for Kirby that'll put some hair on your chest? I personally would be interested in a harder difficulty for Okami, as that game gives you a lot of skills, but you don't really get to make use of them all outside of the final boss.

Solo

Can people stop saying that games should not be cross-generation? It is annoying. What's wrong with more people being able to play? It's not simple to get a specific system, so being available on more is a good thing. And you say that if games were only on the newer hardware, it could be better. But I doubt it would have that much you can only do on new hardware. Just be happy with better visuals and sit down quietly. Why can't everyone have fun? Bye.

Bryce Blackmore

G'day! Tony hawk made me familiar with skateboard tricks and allowed me to watch pro skating when I was a kid and understand what was going on. What games have given you a similar experience or knowledge that allowed you to access something you normally wouldn't/couldn't.

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey cohorts! Yesterday I made the decision to give up on Returnal. I admire the game and enjoyed what i saw, but i wasnt making much progress (stuck on 3rd biome) and was getting more frustrated than entertained. Whats your experiences with giving up on games due to difficulty?

coshimitsu

When you load up a new game for the first time and are dropped into the first area, what do you do? Open the options menu? Hide in some nearby tall grass? Take in the visuals? Or are you like me: immediately turn around and look for items behind you.

Kris N

Hey MinnMax Crew! Seeing the size comparisons recently between the Steam Deck and other handhelds, i'm left feeling like it’s pushing the limit of a comfortable handheld gaming experience. So I wonder: What is your ideal size for a handheld gaming device? Also, if Nintendo *does* end up announcing some sort of mini Game Boy device this year, how small would you be comfortable with? (I’d personally say a deck of cards is a good lower limit)

Jason Wojnar

What's a bad thing you did in your childhood that's ultimately insignificant but still makes you feel guilty?

Andrew Rennolds

Hi MinnMax Crew, With the news of GTA6 being in development i realised that I dont care at all about that franchise (no real reason why either) is there a game of franchise that you feel have the biggest disconnect from the more general gaming audience?

R0CK3T5YNT5T

You walk into a recreation center. As you get accustomed to the lighting, you start to notice something ... weird. Kratos is playing darts with Ellie, Master Chief and Doom Guy are arm wrestling and Mario and Zelda are playing pool. In your perfect scenario, who else is in this rec ctr, what are they doing and will you join them? Cheers from Toronto Canada R0CK3T5YNT5T aka Keith(Rocket Scientist)

Hootz

Since we've all seen the direct now, Can you believe Mario Kart 9 AND Metroid Prime 4 are releasing this year alongside Breath of the Sky, Bayonetta 3, and Splatoon 3?!?!? Nintendo is killin it this year! All jokes aside, Nintendo seems stacked this year, even without what may have been announced in the direct today. Do you think it's wise for them (or any publisher) to release so many high profile titles in a short period of time, considering that the following year may only see 0-3 of the same caliber? (Compare Ninty's 2017 to 2018, for instance)

IanTClark

I wanted to give a quick shout out to the MinnMax sponsor Fixture S1. I used the Amazon link to order one for my son as a gift and he absolutely loves it. He uses it every day.

Dukefazon

Is it too late to throw in my question?

MyNameIsDan

Hey friends, We are coming up on the fifth birthday of the switch (released March 3, 2017). If you had to review the console as is up to this point, what would you say about it? Feel free to give a meaningless numbered score too. Thanks, Dan

Alexander Mills

Last minute question after watching the Nintendo Direct! Will "mouth mode" become a standard for games going forward? Watching the trailers that followed Kirby and the Forgotten Land I was already noticing the lack of mouth mode... Particularly in Nintendo Switch Sports and Xenoblade. Which game series do you think would benefit most from some Mouth Mode DLC?
