Hello MinnMaxers! So let’s say you’re playing a game, and someone asks you to go do something for them, is that a quest? Or is it a mission?

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! I don't really have a question, but as an old-school Game Informer guy having all of you together in a studio again makes me insanely happy!

Ryan Davis

I was thinking about the solo laugh question from last week, and I cannot even think about the show I Think You Should Leave without laughing out loud by my self. So, and I know this is random, but does the crew have any thoughts on I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson???

James Smith

Missed joke opportunity: You should have said that the empty Beyond: Two Souls script was a metaphor for how Quantic Dream games talk so much without saying anything.

Jonnythan 12

One part of why I enjoy playing games so much is that it’s a medium that is so new and has so many possibilities. There’s always new surprises in what developers can do. What are some of your favorite unique things developers have done, or that only work in a video game? (I like how games can make you have a sense of progressive unlike other media can.

James Gameboy

Hey, not super gaming related, but how do you get a job that doesn't suck?

gybones

Hey y’all. Have any of you experienced some gaming fatigue? I find myself feeling excited for an announced title that younger me would love, but then not enjoying it much once I get it. How did you work out your gaming funk?

Devin B

Hey cohorts! I never "got" souls games, and it seems that includes Elden Rings too after playing it for some time and just not enjoying it very much. Are there any games or franchises that you just don't enjoy in spite of high critical acclaim? Do you ever feel like you're missing out when you don't enjoy games that get such high praise?

Brady Easter

Well over a year ago, I pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077, but when I found out they weren’t releasing the next gen versions right away, I decided I wouldn’t play it at launch. I would wait to play it until they put the next gen versions out. Now that they FINALLY have, I’m loving it! I’ve still run into a few minor bugs, but overall I’m super happy I waited on it. I know it’s hard due to your jobs, but have you ever intentionally waited past launch to play a game? If so, why and how’d it turn out? Thanks! You all are awesome!

Victor Pham

What superhero or superhero team has the best rogues galleries? The obvious picks are Batman and Spider-Man but would love to see more deep cut choices!

Jaketrix

Hey, So some of these game companies have been around for decades. How cool would it be if they released a "game" or digital museum full of unreleased art, tech demos, unreleased game demos and include other behind the scenes content? Which company would you want to buy a digital museum from? Mine is Nintendo, of course. I would love to see more early concepts of Super Mario World.

Michael Gibler

Hello MinnMaxers, hope you're all doing well! My question for you all is: If you could literally do whatever you wanted for a living, what would that be? It doesn't have to be a current job, or even a job. For example I think I would most want to be an interstellar pilot and explorer. I'd see untouched, unique planets, and possible alien life? Sign me up! Michael from Iowa

Patrick Polk

Welcome to the new installment of Second Chance Jokes (working title)! In Episode 1, Kyle was talking about Control and said "I think Max Payne--I think actually take that back--I think Alan Wake is still my favorite Remedy, but I would put Control second" and somebody could've joked that they thought laughter was his favorite remedy (or Vitamin C or aloe or somesuch).

BobaFets

My question is how do you see your gaming habits changing as you get older. Do you see yourself still gaming in the old folks home? Or do you think you’ll eventually stop? In my younger days I could have weekend gaming sessions or 100% games, now I’m mostly a mainline story guy and lucky to play a few hours a week. So where do you see yourself in 10, 20 or 30 yrs?

Alejandro Medellin

I was watching the Bubba Wallace docuseries on Netflix, and there's a moment after the terrible noose incident where the entirety of the sport comes out to walk behind him in solidarity before the start of the race. It hit me so hard that I lost it and cried through the whole thing. So, when's the last time you got really emotional watching a movie or show? And did you allow yourself to let it out, or did you hold it in?

Nick from Atlanta

Hello cool former GI people! You've all now left Game Informer. How did the layoffs in 2019 affect your decision? If they hadn't happened, do you think you'd still be there? (I don't know if Andy ever shared it, but I gave him a card that year at Conference and expressed my condolences for just absolutely how much it sucked. You don't have to read this part.) Thanks for indulging an awkward question, Nick from Atlanta

Muffyn Crumbs

Hey Ben and co! Question for you: what do you think is the least pressed button of any video game controller ever? I'm talking mainstream controllers, not lesser known ones like the Atari 2600 or something. 2nd question: what is the most pressed button ever? Cheers!

Alibanian

As someone that is a fan of both digimon and Pokémon, I’m pretty depressed with how bandai treats digimon. At the first digimoncon from this Saturday they had an hour long presentation where the developers kept reiterating that they’d love to make more games/ports but Bandai won’t let them since there isn’t much perceived interest. What other game series do you wish would get more love from its publishers?

Kolel Pryor

Hey Computer Loving Cohorts, I started up Horizon Forbidden West this week and immediately felt a sense of comfort and almost-nostalgia! It felt great to return to a world and control scheme that was so familiar; it was like reuniting with an old friend. Especially now, games can be an awesomely comforting experience - and a welcome break from world events. My question is: Do you think we're too hard on "sequelitis" and nostalgia bait in games? Can you think of a game that forced you to ponder this? I often espouse original ideas and IP in games, but maybe I've been too harsh on the tried and true...

Bryan Tylec

Hey guys! One of the things I've always admired about all of you is that, whenever someone leaves GI, they don't just disappear into the ether. You always still remain friends with them or find a way to keep them in your lives somehow. So my question is, how do you do it?! Is it just the Minnesota way of life that you value those friendships so much? Is it a cold, unfriendly New England way of life (where I'm from) that as soon as someone leaves, they cease to exist? Or is that part of the culture at Game Informer that those people will be your friends forever? It really is an excellent quality to have.

Jared Piers

Hello Minn and/ or maxers, do you think every game would improve if you could play as spiderman in it? Thank you for your time.

Adam Castellanos

How’s agoing party people? What did you do for your 21st birthday? Thank you!

Fred Dinovo

Howdy all, does Reeves still have his infamous E3 2018 shorts? I noticed he left them out of the thread of Game Informer work he's most proud of and thought that must have been a mistake. https://youtu.be/b_r52mSCBEY

Cath

Could any of you help me understand the present time part of assasin creed ? Even when I try reading about it I don’t understand

Colton Westbrooks

Hello everyone! You all have done a number of skits, comedy segments and articles while at GI. Two pronged question. Which do you think was your favorite? Then, if you could do any comedy bit, no restrictions what would it be? Does not have to be game related.

Funky Duck

Hey minnmax, How much time do you think you'd spend in third person view if you had the ability? I'm thinking like a cool 50%, my posture would be off the charts.

Gnoale

Hey everyone! A couple of weeks ago you folks were briefly talking about instruction manuals that used to come with video games. It made me wonder, do you have a favorite or memorable instruction manual? If so, what was it? Mine was Jurassic Park for the SNES, because it had a mini dinosaur glossary.

The Sleepy MailMan

Hello Bennys and the jets! What is the funniest dialogue that is delivered seriously you’ve ever heard in a game? A recent game’s opening cutscene talked about a “loathsome dung-eater” and expected the player not to crack a smile? Ludicrous, I say!

Swiggity Swoo

Hey I don't have a question this week, I just wanted to say, since it's maybe the last time all these goons are in the same room together and I have a platform to address them; Thank you all (all of you) SO MUCH for the content that you've put out into the world. I have been reading GameInformer since I could read and over time coming to learn all the personalities of the editors has really meant something to me. And Ben Hanson forming MinnMax after the shattering of the staff at GI is honestly a gift that I didn't expect to receive. I often find myself rewatching old super replays as they are comforting and light in a world that has become all too dark. it might seem impossible that you've touched someone so definitively having never met them, but in the uncertain landscape that is the human experience, we often find ourselves attached to seemingly insignificant entities. You guys have always been people I wished I could be friends with, because the people in my life didn't understand a lot of the things that I was into and it was nice to not feel so alone in the world. Shit, I didn't mean to get so sappy but you dudes really had a positive impact in my life and by God I need to tell you about it. Thanks for laughs. I'm gonna miss hearing from Dr. Bobby Reeves a LOT.

Aaron Terrell

What’s up guys. Is anyone from the MinnMax family excited about GT7? Seems like that might be a miss for everyone there.

Jeffrey Rommel

Hey dudes! Given the release of Elden Ring and the eternal debate about difficulty - sometimes I get suspicious when developers say they want to make a hard game, I wonder if they just say that because it’s easier and quicker to get the game out the door and tell everyone to “gitgud” rather than do all the tedious work of tweaking and balancing a game. Is that crazy?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, Just wanted to put my 2 cents in, current AC Valhalla is very fun. I love the exploration and combat. It's a great viking rpg and the most recent plot has revitalized my interest in the "current timeline" . I know not everyone can put 100 hours into every open world game but for those curious. It's fun.

Spencer Botine

Greetings fellow gaming enthusiasts, Elden Ring has me smitten with a blank world map that encourages players to mark their own discoveries to return and explore further. I attempted to replicate this with Horizon Forbidden West and turned off all map icons and freed myself from question mark hell. My query: Could open world game fatigue be remedied by simply removing all of these damn icons and giving the player full autonomy of their adventures?

Erin T.

Hey group of old friends! Elden Ring has one of the best “quality of life” features I’ve seen in a game: when you hug a wall while walking or jumping around a corner, the camera automatically pans 90° with the corner, so that you end up facing in the direction of your turn. It’s so subtle, but makes a huge difference when exploring. What are some of your favorite quality of life features in games?

Haley

Hey MinnMax, so excited for this ep! Quick Question: Is it possible for a game to be "not good" but also not "bad"? I recently saw Death on the Nile and when a friend asked how it was I found myself saying, 'It's not a "good movie" but it's also not "bad"'. I also feel like "not good" is separate from "mediocre", but I can't quite place why that is. What do y'all think? Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!

Clemens Zobel

AC Dawn of Ragnarok hype! not counting work related stuff, how many games do you play concurrently? I typically only play one at a time cause I have trouble keeping track of controls, mechanics, quest progress. I put forbidden west on the back burner when elden ring dropped, and I’ll do the same when dawn of Ragnarok comes out. been loving elden ring, but AC is my favorite franchise

Hey Minnmax crew, strange story and simple question for you. A few years ago I and my family were visiting my cousin in Japan, around the Yokosuka area near the Naval Base. One morning I was taking a brief walk with my mom, when an old woman approached us as we were appreciating the quiet suburb we were wandering around, and quickly directed us into her home. If that seems strange, imagine my surprise when we find out why: She was the mother of the, sadly deceased, "Hide" the lead guitarist of the Japanese heavy metal band XJapan, and because we were wandering around her neighborhood she thought we were fans looking for her house specifically. What followed was twenty or so minutes of a little old japanese lady, who spoke very little english, eagerly showing us every bit of memorabilia she had of her sons career. From gold records on the wall, incredibly designed guitars in display cases, and even a collection of elaborate Slipknot style masks that her son wore during some performances. At the time I had no idea who XJapan was, so I mostly just politely nodded, but after finding out more about the history of the band, and Hide specifically, I look back on that experience as something truly special and unique. So my question here is: What's the most interesting, experience, place or thing you've ever stumbled into completely by chance. Bonus points if you're like me, and only realized how interesting it all was when thinking back long after it happened.

TheUnchartedWolf

Hey guys, like most strategy rpg nerds, I'm extremely excited for triangle strategy, but even i can admit that name is awful and does not sell the game. When was the last time the name of something made you less interested in a product?

Hi folks, I have a Pokemon prediction that you need to hear. I believe this will have significant impact across the internet! All signs point to the newly announced Pokemon region being based upon Spain. This means the adorable starter Pokemon Sprigatito is likely inspired by the iberian lynx which is native to the area. Here's the catch... The Iberian lynx has distinctive facial hair, somewhere between mutton chops and a beard. The tufts of cheek fur on the cutesy Sprigatito support the theory that we're heading in this direction. The internet has already fallen in love with this cuddly kitten. Could Twitter handle a bearded and/or bipedal 3rd form? Also what are your thoughts on the new starters? For the first time in years, I love all three!

PhillyYeetSteak

Hello GI alumni! Its a new month, which means new free games for ps plus and xbox gold members! With the domination of gamepass and the rumors that playstation is restructuring its memberships, what do you think is the best way to handle free games? Should it be day 1 multiplayer games (like rocket league and fall guys), AAA games, or something else? Or maybe its totally uneccesarry in the age of gamepass?

Zach Killian

Hello Minnmax! Since all of y’all worked at GI, what is your favorite cover story you worked on and/or any favorite cover story trip memories?

MyNameIsDan

Hi friends, One of the most recent gaming discourses surrounding Elden Ring was the amount of time reviewers were given to play the game up until release of their review. While some look at From Software as playing a part in this issue by not giving the game to reviewers earlier so that they could finish/play the majority of the game, isn't some of the issue also the deadline of review postings game critics are trying to meet? It obviously would be more accommodating if a developer provided a game to a reviewer with enough time to finish before their review is allowed to be posted, but shouldn't there also be the option of not posting the review until you've felt like you played enough of the game to provide one (this excludes reviews in progress as this format makes sense). If the outlet you work for is expecting a review to be posted by a certain date even though you haven't played enough of a game to properly critique it, thats not necessarily a problem caused just by the developer, that could be a problem with yo' boss. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this matter. Thanks, Dan

David Dubs

Hey cohorts! Last week’s discussion of FromSoftware got me thinking of the value in consistency in other art forms. What would you consider to be the most consistent Artist? For myself, I would consider the band Spoon to be the most consistent band in terms of quality. All albums are good to great, even their latest ones.

Seth

What's up "Old Guard", Last week the other cohorts were discussing which is the best super hero movie so far. Into the Spider-Verse is a great choice, but I do think "Logan" at least deserves an honorable mention. So uhh...which revered video game character/series do you think should get a gritty mold-breaking entry to send it off? (Probs Mario, right?) Bonus question: does "Birdman" count as a super hero movie? Keep on keepin' on

In honor of Pokemon Week I'm putting my personal betterquest goal here for some public accountability: I'm earning my spot to the Pokemon World Championships as a Unite player. I've been playing since the start of the game and while some days it feels rough to put in the time required, I know its going to be worth it in the end. On a related note, have you guys been surprised by how muted the reaction to Gen 9 has been? With both "Open World" and the return of abilities confirmed, I'm really excited, but it doesn't feel like many people in our sphere of "online" are. Is it everyone trying to mentally recalibrate expectations after PL:A? Pokemon overload? Regardless, I'm hyped as hell though.

Rodrigo Aoun

Hey MinnMax ! I was wondering, who are your favorite video game writers ? Can we actually name any ? I won't lie, I'm having a hard time too... We tend to say videogames story are subpar, but there's so much to a game's writing : the general plot beats, the worldbuilding, the actual dialogue... I'm just now discovering Control and absolutely loving the atmosphere, the Bureau and how eerie it all is. Sam Lake is considered the writer (though he's probably not alone, right ?). I do also love a good Max Payne monologue too, so I guess he might be my favorite ? What do y'all think ?

Robert Key

Have you guys ever watched a single movie or show that negatively impacted your view on an entire genre or subgenre? Years ago, I watched The Butler with Forest Whitaker and really enjoyed it. Shortly after, I found out that 80% to 90% (estimating here) of the events in that movie didn't happen. This led me down a rabbit hole where I found out the vast majority of movies that are based on true stories have many things altered in them that aren't at all part of the original story. Since then, I almost always stay away from a movie that claims it's based on a true story.

DJ Tommy Pizza

I recently just rewatched the Replay Civil War arc from like 2017. How much fun was that to put together? Really was cool to see such a creative development in the Replay saga 😁

Ray Sweat

The pixel remaster of FF6 seems to be a hit and the common thought I'm hearing is, "what other classic RPG's do we want to receive the same treatment?" I'm thinking, why does it have to be an RPG? What classic game that isn't an RPG would you like to see get the same treatment? I'm kind of struggling to think of any that aren't RPGs
