Heyho cohorts, With Hogwarts Legacy seeming surprisingly impressive: what does your ideal licensed game look like? Best Mathias Alternatively and apropos of nothing: best slap in video games?

James Ford

Hello cohorts, are you still playing Wordle? Did any of the spin off versions make it into your daily spin? I personally am playing Wordle, Worldle (shapes of countries), Framed (six frames from movies) and heardle (slowly more seconds of a song)

BEEFCAKE

Hey Kyle! … and everyone else I guess. I was just wondering if you’ve listened to the latest Between the buried and me album “colors II”? If not, you should cause it’s great.

Andrew Molnar

Hey Cohorts! Who would you cast as Captain Planet in a live-action movie or TV series?

RickyWinterborn

do any of ya'll have dream projects or side hustles? i want to build an arcade cabinet but i feel like i need a garage first.

Christian Jimenez

Hello, When making the behind the scenes GDC video did you feel subconscious about going around and filming?? Do you feel more or less pressure when being on video that way as opposed to streaming, produced content?? Thanks for all the cool content.

Shawninator

Hey MinnMaxers! Just stumbled upon Jeffm's review for Camel Up and I loved it, so joined the patreon to finally submit some questions! I'm always hosting various gaming gatherings, so I was curious: what was the best and/or worst game night you've ever been to? This can included board games, video games, or anything else loosely categorized as "a game night". I feel like my gatherings are decent, but never hurts to learn from the best/worst examples of others. Game On!

Thomas Deranek

I just wanted to write in and say that I loved the GDC coverage that you provided. It was a lot of fun to listen to the exclusive podcast, as well as to watch the travelogue. Can we expect to see this type of content continued in the future for other big conferences? Or was this a one time event?

Thom Blackburn

Ahh the new tiers of ps+: PlayStation Plus Extra PlayStation plus More PlayStation plus Mucho Mas PlayStation plus Venti Thank you, thank you.

James Pies

Hello Minimum Maximum people, Have you heard about this? Have you seen this? Breath of the Wild 2 has been delayed until Spring 2023, making it roughly 6 years since the original's release. I know COVID has impacted Japanese development more than other regions, but that's still a long dev cycle for a sequel that appears to be using the same engine and similar assets. Hell Majora's Mask came out only a year after Ocarina! Different time and tech I know, but still makes ya wonder... what exciting new gameplay features can we expect in this thing? My money is on sky traversal and time manipulation mechanics based on the snipits from previous trailers. What are the cohorts' hopes and dreams for this game, now we know it is still presumably another year away? Stay frosty! -James from NYC

Kees ('Case') Mulder

In the BOTW 2 video, I was very ready for Aonuma to say 'We are delaying to put horse double jumping in the game'. What are the chances Elden Ring influences BOTW 2 in any way?

Okay, why is the "lots of icons on an open world map" thing largely lambasted while grinding in turn based RPGs is largely accepted and oftentimes enjoyed by people who talk about games? For both of them, it's just roaming around a world you've spent hours in performing the same tasks you've spent hours doing, all for experience points and leveling up. So why do so many people groan and roll their eyes at another Ubisoft open world title, but talk about putting on their favorite podcast and zoning out for some good JRPG leveling? Personally, I'm just not really a turn based fan and don't want to spend hours doing it, but I love 100%-ing games like Far Cry, Assassin's Creed and Cyberpunk 2077. Why does that make me the weirdo? Also, on the topic of the new PS Plus offerings, if it has new releases day and date, I'm in on the second tier. I'm not interested in retro games but would actually save money on new games, especially with the discounted annual rate--something I've been wanting Game Pass to do from the start.

Tokyo Game Life

Hi MinnMax, The sequel to Alien is Aliens. What game should have a sequel where the only thing added to the name is an “s”?

Evolved Protozoa

Hello MinnMax, You are now all game developers creating a difficult open world game. Pitch why you have made the decision that it won’t be possible to pause your game.

Pelicanman

The new consoles are generally great, but am I wrong to feel we were sold a bill of goods when it comes to ray tracing on these machines? Most of even the biggest games ship without it entirely, and long-awaited updates that promise to add it have been huge letdowns (e.g., the console versions of Cyberpunk, which is a ray tracing showcase on PC, only added almost imperceptibly better shadows). Are there any other major disappointments for you guys with the now-current generation?

Eric Hunt

Hello Cohorts! What is the your favorite and/or most useful video game peripheral or accessory? My favorite and most useful in my opinion has to be RingFit. It is great exercise and does a really good job of teaching you the proper way to do certain exercises. It has helped me lose over 70lbs and kickstarted a healthier lifestyle for me. Not to mention the game is actually quite fun! Some runners up for me would be the Guitar Hero guitar and the NES Zapper.

tbeeks15

Howdy Cohorts! I’ve been loving all the Elden Ring talk from all over the industry. It’s a game that encourages so many vast and varied conversations and all of them I find super interesting. What other games out there do you enjoy to hear people talk about? Whether it be a game you’ve never played and just find fascinating, or if you just love to hear other people gush about your favorite game of all time. Thanks for all of your hard work and the incredible content! Love & Respect, Beeks

Cooper Murphy

Hey Gang! Can you guys talk about your experiences with people working in the game industry that aren’t developers, media, or PR? I’m a lawyer and I have worked with many indie teams and briefly in-house at Riot and I have found that there are a lot of lawyers who work in the industry and love games! I definitely think of myself of as “in the industry,” but I feel like these alternative careers are never included in the conversation - Cooper from LA

Roc Breathnach

Is it just me or did that Hogwarts Legacy character creator look binary AF? And should you really frame the oppressed, jew-analogous goblins as the villains?

Victor Garcia

Hello, everyone! When No Man's Sky first came out, I had also just started watching Star Trek Deep Space Nine for the first time. I ended up play dozens of hours of No Man's Sky while watching Deep Space Nine and now those two things are linked together in my mind. Whenever I think of one, I also end up thinking about the other. Every time a new patch comes out for No Man's Sky, I play it while watching Deep Space Nine. Are there any games that for you that will forever be linked to a specific movie/tv show/book?

It's Hugo's Nook

Hey There Computer Loving Cohorts! With Kirby FINALLY making the leap to 3D with quite success, what games would you say were the best (or the worst) in transitioning into the third dimension? I personally love the evolution of Metroid into Metroid Prime, especially how they rethought everything about the gameplay but still managed to keep its essence/vibes.

Could_be_a_Librarian

Hi MinnMaxx! As a modder of multiple games, I've noticed that video game podcasts in general usually do not discuss mods. There might be the occasional mention of Skyblivion or other similar mods that have attained a lot of notoriety, but usually that's all. So my question to the cohorts is this; Do you use mods, and if so, what are some of your favorites? If you don't, why not? Is it a concern for the original vision or spirit of the game, or is it a matter of time and effort, or something else?

Alibanian

I know this episode of the podcast will inevitably be game pass centric, but as someone who just recently subscribed to game pass I've been overwhelmed with the amount of amazing games on here. To try and narrow down the list of what I should play, I wanted to ask what do you guys think are the best games available on game pass?

AnAttackCorgi

Hello CLC! Which historical icons of the game industry would go on the Panel’s Mount Rushmore? There can only be 4, or possibly 5.

Otsego12

Hey MinnMaxers, first time asking a question. Do you have a song or album that always makes you think of a game, or vice versa? For me it’s B.O.B.’s Psychedelic Thoughts album and Fallout 4’s Nuka World DLC. Now every time I hear it I think of sneaking though the Nuka Quantum factory and discovering the Queen at the end. What’s yours?

ChazCheeto

Hey MinnMax pals. What are your appetites for playing games with humor that doesn't hit for you? I'm inspired by this after trying Nobody Saves the World and really not vibing with the art and writing styles of that game. I also had problems with Guacamelee, so I didn't expect to like the comedy in NStW. I think I recall Leo last year saying that despite Riders Republic being his GOTY, he played that game with the sound off. That's something I've never really been able to do with a game - perhaps because I play games more for story than strictly for gameplay systems.

Hi! Ben & Co. Longtime, first time. I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend in September, and would like to look my best for what will be a milestone moment in our lives. So, I’m submitting my BetterQuest goal from now until proposal: lose weight! Not the most original, I know, but I’m putting it out there publicly for some accountability! If anyone has any tips, it’s greatly appreciated!

Janaris

Hi Ben and Crew, With PlayStation finally revealing the new PS+, what do you all think of the pricing tiers? I like that Sony is giving different options, and the ability to pay annually for a discount. For me I am looking at the highest tier for the PS1, PS2, and PSP games, but wish I had the option to only get the backward compatibility at a lower tier. What do you all think of their tier system? And having to pay $120 a year if you only want to play older games. Thanks for all you do.

Justin Ray

Being content creators do you find it difficult to become friends with someone who is a big fan of your content because they already know so much about you?

YARF

With the new Halo show out, and it requiring a subscription, I couldn’t help but think, with the over saturation, how are all these platforms still functioning and what is the breaking point…? For people who review this stuff for a living are they subscribed to: Hulu+ Sling DirecTV YouTube Tv Spectrum TV Pluto TV Xumo Klowdtv LG Channel + TV Everywhere Frndly TV Vidgo Netflix Redbox Tubi TV Crackle Popcornflix Apple + Google Play Vudu Vimeo IMDbTV Roku Channel Discovery+ Disney+ HBO Max AMC+ Paramount+ Showtime Starz Epix Peacock Max GO … etc etc etc insert cockamamie phrase and add a “+” to it I’ll end it there… When is enough enough? Do we strike back? Not with our wallets, but with our fists? Silent Hill (the first movie) is the best video game movie adaptation, prove me wrong!

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey cohorts, Having now experienced a pandemic for 2 years, are you more or less interested in local multiplayer than you were in the before times?

Kenneth Osterloh

Hello Ben, ______, _____, and most importantly ______. It would seem my question is at the bottom, but I’m gonna try anyway. I want each of you to pick a game for each of the other cohorts that they would hypothetically have to play and beat. What would it be and why? For example JeffM has to play and beat RDR2 for obvious reasons. Do that for each cohort present. Aaaand GO!! Love the show been listening for a better part of a decade. Sign Ken from Tokyo Japan.

Joe Dean

Hello MinnMax, I know y'all love musical theatre (also Ben loves to bring up the idea of Lego The Bible)  and so I wanted to ask you, in Andrew Lloyd Weber's Jesus Christ Superstar who is the more important casting choice: Jesus or Judas? Thanks, Joe Dean

Reed

Hello! Some games take away all of your equipment/weapons/fun stuff midway through the story. What is your most memorable or frustrating section of that? Sarah’s Ghostwire Tokyo stream was great!

Tonytheswordsman

Let’s talk about not kink shaming Ben but also how Jeff Grub alyooped that roast.

Tonytheswordsman

How many streaming services do you currently have but which do you actually watch?

Fred Dinovo

Hey y'all, Let's lock in some predictions early. Will the sequel to Elden Ring have a glider mechanic?

Alexi

Hey Minnmaxers,                             After listening to P.S. I Love You's recent discussions about Elding Ring and with the upcoming GDC I was reminded of a comment Janet had made during your discussion about God of War Ragnarok in that the basic plot of GOW PS4 wasn't necessarily a new idea but HOW they executed it made it special. So my question is what's your favorite game or gaming moment that was special because of HOW it was done not just what was done?

Pete Deaver

To whom it may concern (just kidding, hi, hello), I was hoping I could pick your brains a bit, in a friendly way, about a recent discussion on the podcast that actually bummed me out a bit - The Hogwarts Legacy discussion. Hogwarts Legacy has made it abundantly clear to fans that JK Rowling is not involved in the project and that you can actually make a trans character in the game. It has probably hundreds or thousands of people working tirelessly to capture the magic (barf) of the books and movies, despite its author being a horrible bigot, AND the development of the game predates her transphobic comments. So my question is this (and I promise I’m just trying to make the show better through positive, friendly, ethical discussion): when controversy arises in the video game industry, do we have a moral obligation to boycott or refuse to promote a game as a result, despite the hard work of every innocent person involved? I, myself, am torn. For Activision, I think yes. For Hogwarts, I think no. I’d love your feedback.

Hey everyone, Working a time-consuming job that's not in entertainment, I constantly find myself lagging behind on new video games and films when I scroll through Tik Tok or listen to podcasts. Are there any hobbies that still cause FOMO since your jobs are mostly focused on video games?

R0CK3T5YNT5T

Hi Minty Maxxers! You are an NPC in a video game. You see the player approaching you. What quest are you giving them and what is their reward? Also, will you attack them if they go into your hut and steal your gold that you had saved up to go on a trip down south? Cheers from Toronto Canada R0CK3T5YNT5T aka Keith(Rocket Scientist)

Kyle Silva

Hey guys. A couple weeks ago, you talked about Square Enix and their output today vs their output from the 90’s. It got me wondering: What decade do you think Capcom made their best titles?

jacob hubbard

Hey Gang I'm glad Sony decided to just roll PS Now into PS Plus. It makes more sense as an established brand and has the larger install base. However, I've noticed a lot of people talking about their disappointment in not including first party games day one like Microsoft does. While it would certainly be nice, I can understand from a business point of view why they wouldn't. They historically make a huge return and I can't imagine them putting on a service that will likely break even for awhile. Thoughts from the group?

BlakJak

Hey! I want to shout out the new overworld mechanic in Tiny Tina. It caught me off guard when I first got to it and so far I think it's really fun. It's as goofy as anything else Borderlands does and it's a clever fix to the "yet another bandit camp" problem. Also the voice acting is top notch and even though the writing will get pooped on by the entire industry, I end up laughing at least once per play session (how many From Software games can you say that about??)

Blake Bonsack

With all the obvious caveats about how the world has changed in the past couple years, I still don’t see how Nintendo can justify BOtW2 taking 6+ years to develop. This is also part of a trend where every subsequent Zelda game is taking longer to come out. There are people in high school right now who have only been alive for the release of two mainline titles. I don’t want Zelda to be like Pokémon, but surely something can be done to make this development cycle more frequent. Thoughts?

BearCommando

Hey guys, long time listener first time post-er. The Monday party chat show finally convinced me to join the Patreon as it’s basically a 2nd podcast each week! With Botw2 being delayed til Spring 2023, there’s already speculation about it co-launching with a Switch 2. If that were to happen, what price do you think Nintendo would get away with charging for a new console? It would have to be more expensive than the current switch, but do you think they can get away with charging “current gen” prices when the graphics of a portable system will still be a full generation behind? I know portability is a special feature, but I feel like the wonder of playing on the go has worn off and I rarely see a Switch out in the wild.

Louis Hall

With Elden ring being a smash hit thanks to its gameplay and setting and the lore and world-building, what developer would you like to see George RR Martin work with next? personally, I want to see Bioware saved, and I think asking Martin to help with Dragon Age 4 would be legendary

Louis Hall

One of my favourite genres is horror. The one major drawback with the franchise is that most of them lack the ability to tell an engaging story to get me invested in characters when they die. Does the panel think there are Horror games that tell engaging stories while also managing to be scary? (I know you're thinking The Last of Us but let's be honest are those games scary?)

Louis Hall

With all the stress of Elden ring winding down I feel like relaxing in my happy place. for me that's beaches specifically in video games that's super Mario sunshine and pokemon sun and moon. what's is the panel's happy place and what's the best version of that happy place they've seen in games?

Boondock-Bandit

I just watched "Contagion" (dir. Steven Soderbergh) and it was extremely eerie how closely this movie about what would happen in America during outbreak matched what happened in America during an outbreak (even down to the origin of the virus in the movie being !SPOILER! a bat from China !/SPOLER!). Anyways, watching this brought me to this question - As new shows/films are coming out, some shows/films set during modern times are either showing the pandemic habits (masks, distancing, etc.), or showing "pre-pandemic" habits (for lack of a better word). As a viewer, what do you all prefer? I'll admit in the beginning of 2020 I didn't really want to see shows/films reflect our current situation, but seeing shows/films do it now, I'm okay with it. Kind of an acceptance of where we are right now and how we move forward. Or am I just reading too into this?
