Omg! Welcome Kelsey and Jacob! As basically two of the main creators I watch I couldn’t be more excited. In the vein of new contributors; how about a quick round of Never Have I Ever? For me: Never have I ever played a mainline Pokémon game.

Greetings Ben and cohorts I have a gaming sin for you to judge. I still think about this, even years later. I will be as brief as I can. I occasionally check in on Star Citizen, I checked in during an event where you can play for free and rent any ship in the game, I rented a stealth torpedo bomber. I took off and far ahead of me ascending into the upper atmosphere was a player in a normal multi-role ship. I locked on and fired a torpedo, hoping to spice up their experience and try out my rented bomber. The torpedos in SC are easy to evade, you get a red warning and alarm from the ship, and a little maneuvering would have worked to avoid it. But they didn’t evade, they just continued on their way up into space. I realized they were probably a new player as their ship evaporated from the massive torpedo impact. The guilt of my frivolity is still with me. Do any of you have any gaming sins that involve (sort of) accidental trolling? Y’all are the best!

Hey guys, quick question: Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you- you could, you’ll do, you- you wants, you, you could do so, you- you’ll do, you want them to do you so much you could do anything?

Hello Ben and crew, I have a weird obsession with a very niche genre...FMV games. It all started with an old PC game called "In The 1st Degree" were you would investigate and prosecute a murder case as a district attorney. Check out the very 90's trailer. https://youtu.be/JqSNnS4aZeg Fast forward 25 years, and there has been a resurgence in FMV games thanks to the success of Her Story. Late Shift and Erika are two pretty good newer games in the genre. However, FMV games rarely reach above the "ok" mark and more often they dip into the "why am I playing this?" realm. My question is, do you have a game genre or series that you just can't quit despite your better judgment? Thanks for all that you do.

Tommy D

We ned to talk about MMOs! We all played them, we love or hate them, but we all quit one of them at one point... Some mmos are hard to quit, others let you leave easy. My favorite way to quit was to cash out of EVE with their "PLEX for good" (where you exchange all your ingame cash for realmoney they donate to a selected cause), my worst way was just having one friend after another quit WoW and it just fizzled out... Now, what was your worst and best MMOs walkaways?

MinnΜax Crew, I know April is probably the least-spookiest of the months, but recent news had me realizing that the horror genre for games seems to be back in full-force: Geoff Keighley teased a recent visit with Glen Schofield’s new studio, likely securing a new trailer for The Callisto Protocol for his kEigh3 this summer… I realized with that game landing presumably this year, Scorn in October, Dead Space Remake in Q1 2023 and a long-rumored RE4 Remake possibly joining the fray… horror game fans may have a bounty of new stuff to play in the coming months! Are y’all generally excited to see this genre potentially surging again? Who is the resident horror enthusiast at MinnMax? Personally, I had to workup the nerve back in the day just to face the ghouls of Fallout 3 - but I aim to give some of these titles a shot this winter! Cheers, Aidan

Alexi

Hey Minnmaxers and welcome contributors Kelsey and Jacob, If you could choose one of the merchants that always shows up regardless of the situation (i.e. Dark Souls, Money Bags, moogles/Cid ) to get there own spin off game ( Full or Lost Legacy size) who would you choose?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, What do your parents do? We have a decent idea the hustle that you guys do but what about your parents? As always keep up the great work. Super excited to see the content that will churn out now with the Contributors.

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts and Contributors! You've been given a magic bottle. For the rest of your life, this bottle will be full of the beverage of your choice that you'll never need to go out of your way to find. What's your choice? Mine is definitely Mountain Dew LiveWire. Maybe it's because Coke's HQ is here, but the LiveWire variant is impossible to find in Atlanta. Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Ray Sweat

What's the one game you would want to do for the Deepest Dive that you know will never happen because there just isn't an audience for it, or the rest of the cohorts would just not agree to it, or any other reason why it would never happen?

Conner McCabe

Hey Ben and the whosiewhatsits! Congrats to all of the contributors joining the team! I love what each of these champs bring to the gaming world and am so excited to have everyone be a little more involved with MinnMax. Hooray! Here’s my question: who sucks the best in video games? Is it Kirby? Is it Luigi’s Poltergust? The water sinkholes in the various Mario games? Who sucks like no other? Thanks!

Tonytheswordsman

Wazzup! With the announcement of the contributors is there anyone you would want to collaborate with ? No price or project too big, is there someone in any format you still have a pipe dream or just a fun idea you know if you had the chance youd want to do. Thank you !

R0CK3T5YNT5T

The Secret of Monkey Island really wrinkled my brain as a kid. Considering a new game in the series is on the horizon, did you play any of the Monkey Island games and if so, what do you absolutely love about it/them? If you did not, what do you think you would like about them from what you know now? For me, I loved the verbal jousting - the fact that you did not have the comebacks to begin with and had to lose in order to "learn" the comebacks was such a good mechanic. Cheers from Toronto Canada R0CK3T5YNT5T aka Keith(Rocket Scientist)

Did you guys grow up being first or second player? Luckily i grew up a first player!

whassup ja-cob, baked bean, cobhorts, and cobtributor, something with beans and chicken, there's something in there. how many hoops are you willing to jump through when it comes to pc gaming? i pre-ordered lego star wars, got it all downloaded on my fairly old gaming laptop (but i'd rather that than the switch) and tried multiple times unsuccessfully to launch the game, it kept crashing... blah blah, steam boot settings, nvidia control panel, windows settings. This is nowhere near the most I've had to work to simply launch a game, but I was already exhausted and at the end of my tether, I was very close to giving up and uninstalling. Maybe the times we live in just make everything feel harder idk

Leafeonn (Josh K)

WHATS UP GOOFBALLS? It’s ya pal Leafeonn here. With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releasing, I thought it would be a fun game to guess which characters have been playable in a LEGO Star Wars game. But, since almost every single character has appeared in the games before (over 300 playable in the new game alone), I thought it might be better to take a look back at Tt’s biggest surprising failure: the most strangest and possibly largest crossover in history, the LEGO toys to life game, LEGO Dimensions. LEGO Dimensions may only have just over 70 playable characters from over 30 franchises, but its a wild list. So, I have compiled a list of 30 characters for you to guess whether or not these characters were playable in LEGO Dimensions. Have fun! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IjIeRB7zsqOdBXHP8dJB1tTeYyI2CSNmPIg0tXLC-_g/edit?usp=drivesdk

Hello cohorts and contributors! In honor of the fantastic additions of Joe, Kelsey, Jacob, and Ana, it's time for everyone's favorite game (which is not at ALL derived from dozens of other community questions): A Nordic Fantasy, in which you must decide whether a given term is the name of a Swedish metal band, or the name of a Final Fantasy location. All location names are taken from main-line numbered Final Fantasies. We'll start easy: Nibelheim (FFVII of course) Gargan Roo (FFIX) Hammerfall (Swedish) Hammerhead (FFXV) Gates of Ishtar (Swedish) Amon Amarth (Swedish) Bathory (Swedish) Tower of Zot (FFIV) The Abyss (Swedish) Pandemonium (FFIX) Valley of Dragons (FFV) At the Gates (Swedish) Niflheim (both Swedish AND FFXV) Sincerely and love always, Chris - New Bedford

Hey guys! Have you ever thought about how the subtitles setting can be in different sections of the settings menu depending on the game? I always have to look for it because they can be considered audio, video, ui, almost any settings section. If I was a journalist I’d write a short quirky article about it Also why do people like having subtitles on in games more than in shows and movies? I’ve always thought that’s interesting. I personally prefer to not have them in games if I can

The_Smak

Hey MinnMax, do you get nostalgic about framerate? Everytime I see an old game that is re-released with better framerate it's not how i remember so it seems a little off. I know the better framerate is obviously better, but for me it loses that nostalgic hook. Am I crazy?

AnAttackCorgi

Hi MinnMax Crew! Let’s play a “Would You Rather” rating game. You will choose which you'd prefer to play: a 10/10 review'd version of Game 1 vs a x/10 review'd version of Game 2. I tried to compare games that share the same genre, but if you want to mix things up, go ahead. Would you rather play: 1) 10/10 Saints Row (Reboot) or a 5/10 Breath of the Wild 2 2) 10/10 Gotham Knights or a 7.5/10 Bayonetta 3 3) 10/10 Sonic Frontiers or a 5/10 Starfield 4) 10/10 Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope or a 6/10 Company of Heroes 5) 10/10 Destroy All Humans 2 or a 6/10 Dragon Ball: The Breakers 6) 10/10 Hogwarts Legacy or a 7/10 God of War: Ragnarok 7) 10/10 Stray (the cat Indie Sidescroller) or 8/10 Oxenfree II Lost Signals 8) 10/10 Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake or a 7/10 System Shock Remake 9) 10/10 Atomic Heart vs 7/10 STALKER 2 10) 10/10 Splatoon 3 vs a 7/10 Marvel's Midnight Suns Bonus Round 1) 3/10 Avatar: Spirits of Pandora or a 1/10 Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed 2) 10/10 LumBearJack vs 10/10 Bear and Breakfast vs 10/10 I Am Jesus Christ

Hello everyone! I recently watched a video essay on the materia smuggling glitch in Final Fantasy 7 PC and remaster versions. The video showed off the glitch by smuggling the strongest summon materia (Knights of the Round) to Disc 1 so that any fight becomes totally trivial. Personally, I can't imagine using this glitch for such an overpowered ability. I'd rather smuggle myself something fun that is obtained far too late in the game to be used normally, like the Steal As Well materia. My question is: What item or skill in any game would you like to smuggle from endgame to the beginning for maximum fun *without* ruining the difficulty by becoming too OP? Some slick movement ability, a troll-y spell, a silly weapon perhaps?

Nick Tarry

Howdy friends! We always talk about remaking our favorite games and bringing a classic into the modern era. But what about doing it in the reverse? Is there any game that you think would be just as interesting as a "de-make"? The only game I've ever seen try this concept was Dragon Quest XI; you can play it like a classic SNES JRPG and even use a SNES controller on the Switch, if you wanted. Are there any games that you think would work well in the reverse and what would it have to do differently from the original in order to make it retro? Praise the message!

Hootz

As a parent of a toddler, I can definitively say that Elden Ring's biggest flaw is that it's not on Switch. With my limited free time to play on the big screen at home, I'm wondering if I'll finish it before breath of the wild 2 comes out - even after its delay. Is anyone else having this problem? How do i solve it? Tell me how to git gud.

Ghoul's Fold

Hello everyone! I've discovered that listening to spoilers for games doesn't affect me as much as I thought it would. Whereas I'd hate to learn spoilers for movies or tv shows. Perhaps it's because the story is the primary purpose of short form entertainment and just part of the reason I play games. What are your thoughts?

James Gameboy

Henlo Cohorts! I'm looking forward to the Chrono Cross Deepest Dive! However, I've got options to weigh: I recently purchased a PS1 copy of it and have a working PS2 that could play it. Would this be worth having the perspective on the original version, or should I just get the new one and not be worried about if any of the discs are messed up?

BearCommando

Hello all! With the new Lego Star Wars coming out a childhood dream of playing through the Star Wars movies is finally being fulfilled for me, albeit in a more cartoony style. Do you miss the days of movie tie-in games being more commonplace? I always wanted to play through movies in games that truly looked and felt like the scenes on screen, but graphics and level design just weren’t there yet back in the PS2 days. Now that we can truly make games look just like on-screen scenes, the trend of tie in games where you play through the exact story of the movie has kind of diminished. I think there would be a market for this type of game to resurface personally, especially for kids who want to experience their favorite movie again in a more interactive way. What do you think? Can you imagine walking through Middle Earth on Frodo’s journey with modern graphics? What movies would you pick?

Tanner Methven

Hey Minnmaxers, I’ve been absorbed in Elden Ring since it launched while also playing a bit of Final Fantasy 14 on the side. Having finally reached the shadowbringers expansion, I’ve actually put down Elden Ring and am focused almost solely on ff14 (with a little Kirby thrown in as well). Has an older game ever been so captivating that it has pulled you away from the zeitgeist?

Seth Filbin

Hello all! Recently I've been playing a lot of Farming Simulator and I've noticed something interesting. Whenever I'm not playing, I find myself looking at things in the real world as if I were in the game. For instance, while driving to work I noticed a large tractor for sale and thought to myself "I need to save up for that. Sure would make things easier." I live on a city block with absolutely no need for a tractor! What was I thinking?!! My question is, have any of you ever played a game so much that it begins to distort your view of the real world? Thank you all for the wonderful content! Please don't stop!

Jake Z

Elden Ring was a fantastic game, but ultimately it wasn't edifying like my favorite games, Disco Elysium, RDR2 and Witcher 3. What games are edifying to you? Are your favorite games the most edifying?

Jeorin

Greetings Cohorts and Contributors! Do you ever cry when you witness something beautiful, like an opera sang with a pure crystal clear voice, or an incredibly cool trailer for a film or game? If so, why do you think it causes this reaction?

CptCobblePot

Hey Minnmaxers, What is the best co-op game you have experienced? On top of that, what’s some good co-op gaming experiences? Playing a game like Overcooked or Mario Party on the couch just aids to that experience for me. You get to share a pizza, laughs, and the joys of classic shared screen play. This means when my kid goes to bed, it’s Friday night Mario Kart and burritos all the way!

RevRando

Hey All! What’s the indie game that’s stuck with you the most over the years and really left an impression on you? I think mine would have to be Shovel Knight. It’s such a simple NES inspired game but is probably one of the best examples of modern 2D platforming. In other words what is your personal Indie GOAT.

Bezlo

Hello to the newly expanded Minnmax show! I've got a two-parter today. On the Gaming Confessions stream, Ben mentioned the "huge, bold swings that people don't talk about enough" that Bioshock Infinite took. Since the newly acquired Joe Juba did the review for Infinite at Game Informer, I was wondering if A - you could talk a little about those themes and/or B - what other games have under appreciated themes that no one talks about. Thanks for making this great community!

Fatt Mish

Hi MinnMax friends. What is the best mod you've ever seen or experienced in a game? Good day to you all! -Mars

RiskyChrisP

Hi Cohorts and Contributors! In what order would you say you prioritize the following things in your life: •Playing video games -Reading books -Watching TV -Watching movies -Listening to Podcasts -Listening to music

Spencer Jenson

Hello MinnMax friends! I have come to ask why haven’t we seen more fast food and snack inspired games? Has gaming culture not wanted to be associated with stalking people with fast food or is double xp on pizza rolls and Mountain Dew peak food franchise fun? Personally I think death stranding was onto something with monster energy drinks and I don’t get why kid icarus himself isn’t slamming Red Bull like he does smash balls.

Austin smith

Hello cohorts and contributers! Tl;Dr - what does it take for a game to break into your nostalgia fueled 'best games ever list'? I hope this makes sense but do you guys have a nostalgia induced 'favorite game of all time' tier and any great game that has come out since just falls outside of that. For instance, my three top tier favorite games ever all came out around when I was a teenager and all the amazing games since fell into my 2nd tier of 'favorite games ever'. I never really thought about it until Elden Ring has smashed through the nostalgia walls and is sitting comfortably in my 'top tier favorite games ever'. Love the pod and stoked for the contributers!

chris cuevas

Hello MinnMax! What are you looking forward to most now that Elden Ring is finally out and behind us? Beating it left a huge hole in my heart and even though I'll go back to it and play some more, looking forward to a game is half the fun. Insomniacs next Spiderman is probably now at the top of my most anticipated and I hope to see more Venom awesomeness revealed this summer. Thanks for the amazing content and so happy to have the contributors around more!

Benjamin Jennings

For the returnal conversation I’m curious if Kyle or Jacob felt the narrative sequences made the games story more compelling/confusing? Does it make you excited for more story content in the future?

Ben Walker

I recently picked up an Oculus/Meta Quest 2 and I'm shocked by how robust the platform and hardware is! Before purchasing, I was still of the mindset that VR was a multi-thousand dollar investment. Turns out you can get in on probably the most popular platform and hardware for less than an OLED Switch, and with the flexibility of accessing PCVR games too! I feel foolish for not jumping in sooner. My question: why haven't you picked on of these up yet Hanson!? Motion sickness concerns? I know Leo occasionally chimes in with some VR recommendations, but it would be great to see more VR coverage from MinnMax.

Zae

Hey guys, every few months I get the urge to play Civ 6 on switch for a few days. I play for maybe a week, and then put the game down for another few months. On the same note, I also want to play survival games but I know I won’t like the genre. Are there any games you don’t play for months, pick up for a bit and put back down? And are there any genres you want to try but know you probably won’t like?

Thwip

Hey MinnMaxers, Do any of you ever replay games with new game plus? I've recently decided to replay a few older I haven't touched in years and they all had the option for new game plus. I realized I've never used this feature and If I replay a game I just like to start fresh. P.S. Love the show and welcome to the new contributors. Excited to see MinnMax continue to grow.

(GAMING SIN HERE) Hello Minnmax Show, My wife and I play Super Mario on the Switch a lot. And I state that we can’t use the save scum or rewind features, because we didn’t have it back when we were playing on the original SNES. And it would ruin sanctity of a beloved masterpiece. But… when’s she’s not around, every once in awhile, I use it. And I feel dirty. Thoughts? Love the show.

Dan from Canada

Hey Crew! Wondering if you have experiences of regret when consulting a guide on a certain puzzle/boss fight that after the fact you wish you stuck with it and figured out on your own? Of course sometimes you get satisfaction knowing you never would have figured something out but sometimes you wish you were a bit more patient with it. I am playing Tunic and haven't used a guide yet but fear I may have to at some point and worry if it will lead to disappointment that I didn't persevere. (My example is the final boss in Link Between Worlds, couldn't figure out to shoot the arrow the opposite direction around the wall, so clever and so simple still regret that one wish I thought of it myself!)

Dustin L

Dear Minnmax, now with more Lewinn! Do any of you have any go-tos for luck? Maybe a lucky rabbit's foot, jumping over the foul line before starting your softball game, or always going with lucky number 13? For some reason I bet one of you has a lucky pair of underwear, so who is it?? For me lately, I always seem to be struggling with a specific goal or boss in a video game (those Crash Team Racing time trials are rough!) when my wife and pup enter the room. My wife walks in and says, "Your good luck charm is here!" And 9 times out of 10, I beat whatever I'm stuck on the next try!

Jason Wojnar

Whoaj update: Made it back to New York. Still absolutely devastated at what happened and worry for all my friends back in Ukraine. The world has now seen the war crimes committed by Russian soldiers, but also know that this is just what was uncovered. More war crimes have happened that have yet to be documented, especially in cities still under siege like Mariupol. It's going to be worse than you could possibly imagine. After 40 days, Kyiv and the surrounding Oblast (Region) are free from Russian troops, but now efforts by the invaders will reportedly be focused on the Donbas region (in the east). This might be an even bigger battle and will have an equally important impact on the outcome of the war. What I mean by this all is; even though I am safe, do not let Ukraine leave your thoughts, and continue donating to charities directly connected to Ukraine if you have the means. Slava Ukraini, Jason Wojnar

FrostedSherbert

I've been looking for new things to play that may be outside the norm, and that's made me wonder what's the most unique gaming experience that you've had?

Cooper Murphy

Hi all! What’s the most expensive gaming collectors item you bought? I’m talking figures, collectors editions of games, rare boxed games, etc. Do you regret it?

Creeeestheguy

So after 92 hours I finally got the platinum trophy in Elden Ring, but I’m definitely nowhere near finishing playing the game because several friends and my brother need help before I embark on a goof around new game plus run. My question is have you ever been so engrossed in a game for such a long time that once you are finished with it you go into a purgatory of sorts. My explanation for that is I find it hard to start something new after such an experience. So I’m kind of bouncing around with indie titles and Rocket League with my friends until I feel ready to jump into Horizon Forbidden West or Cyberpunk 2077. I started the Chrono Cross play through with you guys in the meantime!
