Woohoo Janet! In honor of Keighley's green Pikachu... What Pokemon type would each of you be? Dual types are welcome! (For example, I'd be a water-electric type because I love being in the water and working with computers, although usually not at the same time.)

Hey y'all, hope Janet's arms aren't too tired from flying out to Minnesota. Speaking of going places, I have a simple question: We just saw at Gamescom the new game "Everywhere". We didn't learn much, but based on what we've learned, do you think Everywhere is Going Everywhere, Somewhere, or Nowhere? I personally was getting an intersection of Destiny 2 and Fortnite vibe, but wanted to take the temperature from the experts.

Hey hello✌️ As someone who moved to LA right after college and learned how to be a somewhat “proper” adult in this city, I can’t bring myself to play ‘We Are OFK.’ I already had to go through those motions of working crappy jobs, commutes from hell, having to navigate toxic social situations (thanks influencers), and dealing with a city obsessed with entertainment. ‘We Are OFK’ basically promises that entire experience as a game, and, while it looks very interesting and I applaud the differently structured narrative, I have zero interest given my experiences. So. My question to y’all is: Do you have a game that has received critical acclaim or looks cool as hell but you can’t bring yourself to play it because it just hits too close to home? (Worth noting I have a much better relationship with LA now :) minus the gas prices)

Howdy Shrek loving cohorts! It’s time to play America’s fastest growing game show sensation - Contra boss or Death Metal band! So in every matchup below, one option is the name of a boss from the Contra game series and the other is the name of an actual death metal band. Can you find out which is which and name that Contra Boss? (Note to Hanson: the ones with ** after the names are the Contra bosses) Old Man's Child or Psycho Mother** Dead Horse or Long Hand Guy** Huge Face** or Ghost Brigade Crab the Joe** or Strapping Young Lad General Surgery or Colonel Bahamut** Bosco Spider** or Venom Prison Terror 2000 or Mother Alien** Big Fuzz** or Extreme Noise Terror Mr. Heli-Robo** or Dr. Shrinker Project Hate 1999 or Mach 777** Java** or Coldworker Project C** or Chain Collector The Crimson Armada or Brother Robots Kenny 1 & 2**

is shrek the most powerful meme of all time?

Hi hello MinnMax crew! What are your September game score predictions and why? Be careful handing out those 7.5s!

Hey Minnmaxers, So with gaming epics in mind and having randomly thought of this I've come up with a game. (Working title: Developer Swaps) Rules are.... you must, from the list of developers and their most notable games below choose another game for each developer to take over for the sequel. Each developer must have swapped by the end and preferably the final list will be unanimous. (If you want to make it harder every studio you change must swap with with the new games corresponding studio.) Naughty Dog.........................Uncharted Santa Monica......................God of War Insomniac................Ratchet and Clank Super Giant.................................Hades Ubisoft.......................Assassin's Creed Housemarque..........................Returnal EA...............................Jedi Fallen Order FromSoftware......................Elden Ring Square Enix......................Final Fantasy Atlus.........................................Persona Thanks again. GLHFLG!

Hey MinnMax! I was revisiting some old videos from one of my favorite youtubers (NakeyJakey) that discusses weird video game mash-ups (Dark Souls/Tekken, Bloodborn/Battlefront). What would be your favorite or weirdest mash-up? Death Stranding and 3D Mario for me. Thanks!

Ian Miller

In the spirit of Janet's long-awaited interdimensional travel, the Multiverse of MinnMaxness has imploded and now each Cohort and Collaborator must duke it out in an obligatory and comical tournament. What's everyone's special power? Any particular movesets? Who would win in this totally arbitrary deathmatch?! You must decide! Take this for an example: Hanson's special power is the power of Independent Games Meida. During a match, Hanson accumulates Patreon Supporters. Once he collects enough support, a Patreon Goal is hit, thus adding a new buff to his character.

Hey MinnMax! There have been reports about a new Microsoft advertising program that will support F2P games via in-world ads. I get that it can lead to nightmare scenarios, but it can also pay for smaller teams to make their dream games. A few big gaming websites had very negative reactions to it. Sites that survive on really intrusive ads that often make the reading experience worse. Why do we hold games and websites to a different standard, and do you think a gaming site’s own reliance on ads informs or affects how they report about news like that?

James

Hey everyone!

Shigeru Miyamoto once said: “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad”. However with the ability to patch, and update games, do you believe this is still true? I often wonder, especially since we sometimes see games, like No Man’s Sky make turn around.

Justin Dale

Hey Janet! Welcome to MN! Hope Ben and the crew are treating you to all the awesome stuff we have! Anywho, Something resparked having a friend over recently and we played local Amplitude! We are now back at it again fighting each other on the friends leaderboards like we use to. Have you ever had a friendly (or not so) leaderboard challenge with a friend? And if so what game/s?

Frankie Roughknight

Hey, MinnMax! I recently got a promotion at work, so I’ve had even less time to game. I’m still working through Live A Live & plan to replay FFVIIRemake after that, but there are still games coming out soon I plan to tackle. My backlog is getting out of control. My question is out of curiosity; being technically in the gaming industry, how much time do you all have to game, & what are your schedules like? Do you all have devoted time frames to gaming?

Jordan Holmdahl

Welcome to the Twin Cities, Janet! No question, but I hope you have an excellent time and that Ben takes you to all the places you thought he made up!

'Take a seat' - Chris Hansen, the host at Chili's

There are two types of people: People who spent their time playing the fun games at Chuck E Cheese, and people who played the boring games that gave out the most tickets. Which are you?

Tonytheswordsman

Wazzup! As someone who recently went to the theater for the first time since the pandemic, What are some things you’re still adjusting to since the start of the pandemic? Or what are some things you’ve had a hard time getting use to again? Thank you!

Tonytheswordsman

What are some musts that you need if you were to move ? Wanna be walking distance from a store? Need a good pizza spot nearby ? Obviously outside of cost and all the other stressors, I would love to be near a good burrito spot.

Last week Jacob stated he had Kamehameha'd as Indiana Jones. What is the most bonkers sentence you can make that describes something happening in Fortnite? What is the shortest jump back in time you have to make to be burned at the stake for gamer heresy by saying it?

Cade Marks

With the convenience of Hitman 3 allowing you to play levels from the previous two Hitman entries from within the same “game”, I can’t help but wish more games had this feature. My question for you is this: what game series would you most want to be tied together in a single download/application, giving you access to all your owned content in one convenient location? This feels like a gimme for the Jackbox series, and I wonder if there are major technical hurdles preventing this approach.

CaffeineDad

Hey, MinnMax! Do you know what time it is?! It’s back to school time! Before you boo me off: I’m a teacher and legitimately love my job! I get to make fun lessons, help my kids overcome challenging questions, and see them grow as thinkers and people, so there’s a lot to love! BUT video games don’t love us all that much. There aren’t too many great teachers in games… so my question to you all is: who’s your favorite teacher in gaming? Feel free to stretch the meaning of a “teacher” as much as possible. Btw the show gets an A+! Keep it up!

Joe Dean

Hello, Janet has been helping me out with getting into jogging cause she's a real one, and so I wanted to ask if y'all had any favorite nature trails or anything like that? Could be local or one you visited on a trip. Also if Janet had any recommendations for wireless earbuds that won't fall out while running I would greatly appreciate that. Have fun during Trek to Shrek, Joe Dean

Cade Mead

Hi, Shrek Trekkers! I'm going back to school for the first time in over ten years, and have been having a blast. I'm actively participating in class, starting conversations with strangers, and initiating family/friend stuff, rather than waiting to hear from them. This is all stuff that used to absolutely horrify me. So, does getting older make you bolder?

Joe Garifo

Howdy MinnMax, I watched the Gamescom commentary and Sarah’s comment about so many desert and space games coming left me thinking, what’s an underrated environment in your opinion? You hungry for a new game on an airship? Or exploring the depths of the ocean? Thanks

PhillyYeetSteak

Soooooo i went ahead and took the chance on Saints Row... and am enjoying it. Im not blown away or super impressed, but i am getting what i wanted out of it. What games did you start playing even after hearing lots of mediocre impressions?

saibher (cyber)

Hey minnmax, last week somebody was asking about the gaming equivalent to a weekly sitcom. It got me thinking, releasing weekly content from a studio is super hard, but big modding communities can collectively release new major content on a weekly basis. Ive seen it in Minecraft, Garrys Mod, Rimworld, and many popular sandbox games. Are modding communities secretly the key to infinite content?

So Masahiro Sakurai just became a Game Dev YouTuber : https://youtu.be/OdVkEOzdCPw It’s fascinating to see someone so high up on modern gaming mythos go on this route. If you could pick one other dev to launch their YouTube channel, who would you pick and why?

CptCobblePot

Hey Minnmaxers, You all put a specific sauce on almost everything? I’m a big fan of hot sauces and I have a type for each meal or food. Breakfast might be a mango sriracha on eggs, with a standard Tabasco on shredded potatoes. Ramen at lunch my options are endless, but maybe a chili hot sauce is what I’m feeling. What sauces do you like to put on everything or do you have other “consistent” eating habits?

Hello Minn and/or Max, If all human life other than yourself ceased to exist and you were forced to live within the borders of one country for the rest of your life, based solely on the landscape, where would you go? Thanks, Bye.

irrational_kind

Hey Minnmaxers, With Avatar 2 right around the corner, I just remembered the "3D" craze back when Avatar came out. Subsequently 3D with glasses seems not that great of experience in watching movies. Do you think Avtar 2 would be worth watching in 3D or it was just pre VR novelty that makes very little sense now

Seth Filbin

Hello all! Recently I bought the Halo limited edition Xbox Series X. I'd been trying to get one since they came out and even though the price has come down a bit, it was still pretty expensive. Ever since then, I can't decide if I should feel guilty about it or not. I'm married, have two kids, and they want for nothing. We're not well off necessarily, but we're definitely not struggling either. I don't usually make purchases like this, which is why I think I feel weird about it. My question is, have any of you ever bought something that you know can afford, you know you'll appreciate, but still feel conflicted about?

“We are all headed to a similar place, we are all on our way to die. We meet various people on our journey to die. We meet various people at difference stages in our lives. Maybe we grow apart from each other, and later we will cross each other again. It’s very much trying to be as true to our life as possible.” That and other descriptions of Journey from before launch, from all the different interviews and outlets, were captivating and had my mind racing as a teenager. What was your favorite pre-launch hype for a “new system” in a game? I’m talking “STRAND GAME” LEVEL HYPE BABY!!!!!!

Ian

Hey gang, Which Pixar movie would you choose to receive a high quality game adaptation? What genre would it be? Cheers!

Duderado

Dear MinnMax, I was a kid when online gaming became popular in the early 2000's and as such grew up with many personas or "gamertags" throughout various multiplayer games. Runescape, Diablo 2, World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, and Halo all had very specific dorky and horribly cliche names; like "Assassin X" for CS. Thinking about these times brings about many great memories, but also some cringe ones like my first Runescape character being named "Wepon Worier" playing along with a thousand people named after Legolas. My question for the crew is - What is the lamest or most embarrassing gamertag you've ever had or have seen in earnest?

secondrate

Hey Minnimum Maximummers! What's a more surprising breakout hit: Monster Hunter World or Elden Ring?

Andrew Rennolds

Hey Minnmax I am getting married in October and me and my fiancée have filled the wedding with video game music we both love. This lead me to a question what do you think the best video game wedding is?

Dru Marcus

Good morrow, Minnimalist Maximuses! What real life cities have been built the most in video games (excluding New York and LA)?

micspam

Am I a wierdo for being increasingly uncomfortable with the "exclusive digital preview" especially in light of the middling review scores of Saints Row? I think its kind of absurd a select group of people got to watch a video, who then talked about how they were "pretty impressed"** and thought the game looked "super solid"** in the video, but for some reason the public isn't allowed to see. It feels like the publisher is hiding something maliciously in a way unlike gameplay previews where the reviewer can't record their gameplay. Why can games journalists see the game, but the public cannot? I can respect the need for embargos and closed-door hands-on gameplay, but a private livestream of a gameplay video feels like an E3 relic I'm surprised more people aren't questioning. I'm especially interested to here the perspectives of Janet, Leo, and Sarah since between all four of you there is a different perspective on ya'lls relationship to both games journalism and E3. -Thanks for you time P.S. has anyone figured out what a 10/10 Saints Row Reboot would look like yet? **From the May 19th Minnmax Show

TheLastArcher

Hey MinnMax! You are asked to sit on a panel of judges for a cookoff. What food/foods are being cooked that you could confidently judge? (Doesn’t have to just be your favorite food)

Rickfromatlanta

Hi team if you could pick the iam8bit code for September what would you choose? Would it be video game themed or something outrageous?

Travis Manick

Hey MinnMaxers. Saints Row impressions are starting to come out and they are pretty lukewarm. How do you feel about this considering that you have an interview about the game?

Matt Rogers

Not technically a missed joke opportunity but Hanson’s “Oh, the Emerald City” in response to Kelsey mentioning a convention in Seattle did not get the attention or laugh it deserved! Let’s call it a missed laugh opportunity.

Fred Dinovo

Howdy crew, Is there a more socially acceptable anxiety inducing common occurrence than having happy birthday sung to you in a public setting? What could top that? For those on the panel do you enjoy it, accept it, or hate it? Who is it for, the singers? Do they like it? It certainly isn't for the recipient.

Joshua Leemon

My goty in 2020 was Kentucky Rt Zero and instantly shot into my top 20 ever. My friends were surprised and thought they should play it. The problem is that this game hit really hard for me with its narrative and themes. Also, it’s point and click which won’t appeal to many. I have a really hard time recommending one of my favorite games ever to anybody. Have any of you ever experienced this?

Hammer parsa

Missed joked opportunity: ben hansen was talking about game freak and he likes them to branch out more and shockingly he didn’t say : i like it when game freak gets freaky ! How could you let this happen ben ? I trusted you , the team trusted you and u let us all down . Jk . Love you all thanks for the show

Kevin Kuper

Hello MinnMax! Forspoken dropped a gameplay overview Wednesday morning and I was very impressed with the gameplay and effects but the writing still seems to be what will make or break this game. Has anyone been able to watch it and what was the crews thoughts? Thanks

John

Hello [Hanson insert nickname then immediately shrug it off] I was scrolling through the infinite credits of a game listening to the party chat discussion on the unfortunate new saints row it got me wondering do we not give enough credit to games that are solid? Step back, the credits I was watching as I was listening was for Far Cry 6. To be fair, you all were pretty positive on the game in the podcast, but in general should a technical game series that keeps nailing it mechanically receive more praise and attention? Is it harder than we think to pull this off?

Sachin Bahal

Hey MinnMax crew, two questions for you all. 1. With the PSVR 2 officially launching in early 2023, are there any existing games/franchises (i.e like the Horizon VR game) that you'd like to see a VR game/mode be added for PSVR2? 2. Sony also announced their Elite PS5 controller with the DualSense Edge, are there any other accessories that you'd like Sony to make a first-party version of? Thanks and keep up the awesome work! Sachin from Toronto, Canada

PoorAndCurly

Hey Minnmax! I remember reading a sentence in the Uncharted 4 Game Informer cover talking about Nates scrappy chest hair having wind physics and thinking that was cool. Yet here I am playing fortnite and my Indiana Jones skin doesn't even have armpit hair. I've noticed a whole lot of games have difficulty with making realistic arm pits. What's a weird and random area of game development that developers have difficulty with that you constantly notice?

Potato-smash7

Hey guys I recently watched the deepest dive on super Mario 64 and while I love that game I never beat the whole thing, since I mostly played it as a child......I had NO clue you could jump into the volcano on the lava level. What was the craziest new thing you learned about a game you thought you knew a good amount about?
