I noticed on some of the Steam Deck prototypes that Valve was still using the haptic thumb pads. What did you think of them on Valve’s Pro Controllers, and do you think they could ever replace thumb sticks?

With the chillier seasons coming, what's the best soup?

Better Quest Goal: I'm going to apply to 2 jobs a week over the next year. My long time roommate will be moving out next year and I'm ready to make the most of this opportunity for some dope personal growth.

When can we expect the Reiner exit interview?

TheUnchartedWolf

Hey Minnmax, with the Nintendo Direct behind us it seems all anyone wants to talk about is Zelda, Pikmin and farming. My game of the show however easily goes to RainCode, the detective game made by the Danganronpa developers. I love the aesthetic of the game as well as the setting of a paranormal detective agency and I trust the Danganronpa team more than any other to make a thought provoking narrative that racks my brain to the level of Metal Gear.

Hi, everyone. Are there any foods that you eat in a weird way? Whenever I eat a Hostess Cupcake, I take the thin cardboard/paper that it comes with and use it to slice through the cupcake right under the icing. I'll eat the cupcake part first and save the icing for last.

RicDan

Can we take a moment and give Andrew Reiner a round of applause for 30 years at game informer!

BetterQuest lets goooo The Background: After a year working in a mall in Northeast Philadelphia where one of my assistant managers got punched out by a random customer and several stores were robbed, I decided I want to be better prepared for emergency situations. I started training martial arts a few months ago for fitness and confidence but now I want to take some actual classes in preparedness. The Goal: I'm taking a class offered by the American Red Cross to be First Aid/CPR certified by the end of september. I recently transferred back to the suburbs of New Jersey where things are less scary but it's a crazy world out there and it's better to be prepared! Many thanks and much love for all you guys do!

My wife Mallory has been replaying Deadly Premonition, but she wishes she could just skip the action sequences to focus on the game's story and exploration. Any recommendations for open, 3-D narrative games that don't rely on reflexes (shooting, fighting, platforming) to progress? Quirky suggestions are very welcome!

John Lee

Alright, Cohorts and Contributors and Conspirators, time to go on the record. What game would you most like to do a Deepest Dive on?

P4R4D15E 1NC.

Hey cohorts. When do you start decorating your home for fall/ Halloween? I think we get too little time to enjoy the fall season. I caught my lovely wife bringing up the Halloween decorations on Labor Day, and was so happy that her and I were on the same page. When she was finished decorating. The pumpkin spice candle was giving off the smell of fall. I stood back in awe seeing how beautiful our house and dining room was and began to get teary eyed at the thought that I’m privileged to live in such a happy and loving home, and that I had someone to share my favorite holiday with. She told me I was drunk and to go back down stairs and she gave me a big hug and we both had a laugh. It was a small but very meaningful moment I thought I’d share, and for the record cohorts. I was not drunk, but I did have a few drinks because Cult of the lamb is stressful. Wishing you all the best. Thank you for the amazing content. -Darrell :)

Hey Ben and the CLCs, With all the Assassin’s Creed announcements at the Ubisoft event and the drama surrounding Halo Infinite, do you think it’s time Halo gets the Ubisoft treatment? Basically, more studios working on the IP, creating bigger titles like Infinite and smaller campaigns more frequently? Thanks! Tanner

Nick from Atlanta

Hello MinnMax Show! The first Splatoon Splatfest has been announced: "What would you bring to a deserted island - Gear, Grub, or Fun?" My question is, do you think you could survive on a deserted island without any gear? Could you survive with gear? Let's hear your survival techniques. Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Hello all. Another Nintendo Direct has gone by with no Wind Waker announcement. Do you think that’s ever coming to the Switch?

Cade Mead

I just wanted to shout out Theatrhythm getting updated for the Switch. The 3ds eshop is being shut down, and soon all 100+ dlc songs will be lost to the ether on that version.

Daniel Boateng

Hey y'all, I just finished watching the Nintendo Direct, and I thought it was really good! Fire Emblem, Octopath 2, Zelda and much more that I wasn't expecting made what I thought to be a very strong show. That said, the general reaction from the internet seems fairly negative, which I'm baffled by. Do you think that we expect too much from these events now? There were a lot of rumors going in that didn't come true - are people setting themselves up for disappointment by taking these un-confirmed rumors as gospel? Ciao!

Dunder

Hey Ben and the CLCs, I’m a simple man who just wants to play old GameCube-era Zelda and Metroid games on my Switch. What happened to this long rumored announcement? At this point, when do you think we will get Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime on Switch?

G-Max Thoeren

Yo Minnmax, Do you ever play every game in a collection, or do you usually only play one ? I really wish more games followed the Master Chief Collection model of having each game in the collection come out one at a time so every game gets its day in the sun. Sure it doesn't make sense for every collection, but I think it does for a lot of them - good candidates are the Mass Effect collection and the upcoming Mega Man Battle Network Collection, as having 30-hour RPGs coming out every couple of months is more appealing than getting all at once and burning out after finishing the first game.

Andreas Jensen

What's the best game, that you never want to play again? I would say the Last of Us because of the moving, but depressing story. Or more recently Live A live, because of the insanely grindy last section of the game, which probably took the game from a 10 to a 8 for me.

Kevin Kuper

Hello Minnmax Crew, Hyped for Tears of the Kingdom but question. Is it tears as in crying tears or tears as in tears it apart. Also shout out to the release date a week after my wife's due date for our first! Can't wait to have time to play but not have any energy. Thanks for all the great work and RIP to Windwaker on switch I was really hoping for it too Sarah, maybe next year.

TheLastArcher

Hey MinnMax! Hey Kyle! I heard you were in a band! I love bands! Tell us more about your band! What type of music was it? What instrument did you play? Is there somewhere we can go on the internet to listen to it? Bonus questions for the rest of you: What musical instruments do you play? Is there one you would like to learn?

Luca Alberti

Howdy MinnMaxers! Fire Emblem Engage was announced in the latest Direct and the reaction to it seems kinda mixed, the game looks more polished than Three Houses but the art direction and character design aren't everyone's cup of tea. From the leaks, we know this game was probably completed a long time ago so we might be in an ugly yet extremely polished kinda situation. Can you think of some bad-looking games that play surprisingly well?

Charlie Hunter

Howdy Crew! It's time for a game called Life Designer. You're getting married (congrats!) and your wedding is coming up. You've decided to hire a famous game designer/director to plan your entire wedding. They will handle *everything*, the ceremony, the reception, the clothes, the decorations, the food, the music - everything at their own whims, without any input from you. Here is the short list you are considering: Hideo Kojima Tetsuya Nomura John Romero Toby Fox Ikumi Nakamura Tim Schafer Todd Howard Feel free to add to the shortlist with any of your own picks. Who are you hiring to design your wedding and why?

With the plethora of events scheduled or already completed in September, do you think E3's attempted comeback in 2023 would be better off shifting to the fall? Would Geoff Keighley's "Fall for Gaming" be the final nail in E3's coffin?

Branden Murphy

Hey MinnMaxers! My uncle just gifted a Stadia. I'm very intrigued by it, but I already have a PS5. Is Stadia worth using as well or just a fun novelty at this point? Any game suggestions?

Cole kreider

Hello MinnMax, God of War comes out November 9th and I get married on November 12th, is it too late to ask to push back the wedding date? Of course not, that’s silly, but what other big games have come out around a big event in your life that made you think, unrealistically, about pushing an event back?

Jared Piers

Hey Minnmaaax, Obviously you guys are all buds now but what were your first impressions of each other? Have they changed at all? Thanks

Fatt Mish

Hi MinnMax friends! What person, who is no longer around, left the biggest positive impact on your life?

Jordan Greer

I typically try not to get upset regarding delays, however, the lack of any update regarding the Advance Wars Reboot delay has affected me to a point that I heard about the release of a new Zelda game and was unphased. I understand that delays are generally done with good reason but this feels like hogwash. I love my Switch but recently, whenever I pick it up I am reminded of this ridiculous delay, get a bad taste in my mouth, and then put the Switch back down. Leave it to Nintendo to get sensitive about little toy soldiers going *pew* *pew*. 🙄 Weren't there wars happening when the previous games released? Must the world be at 100%, max peace in order for them to release it? Are there any delays in your gaming history that have upset you to this degree?

Tokyo Game Life

Hi MinnMax, Just in case someone asks “Why is Splatoon so popular in Japan?”, here’s your answer. There is no “definitive shooter” in Japan, so Splatoon was able to have a bigger impact on the market. Also historically the best selling games in Japan have been casual friendly titles anyone can play. Everyone can contribute even if they don’t get a lot of KOs. Splatoon is also filled with familiar Japanese iconography, but with a fun twist. Even if you live in a rural area, you can imagine yourself as a trendy youth living in Tokyo through the game.

Is Chuck E Cheese is a mouse or a rat? Turns out he was a rat from 1977-1993, then they changed him to a mouse in 1993! Now that we know he used to be a rat, if he had to be an informant for any video game crime organization, which would it be?

honeyboy

Hey MinnMax Crew, I'm a big fan of console variations and wish we saw a lot more of them. I'm hoping that Nintendo releases a special edition Switch OLED for the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. My question for the gang is what are some of your favorite console variations and which ones did you own?

AnAttackCorgi

Hello Hello MinnMax Masters of Mayhem. What is the Panel’s top reasons to be, or not be a games journalist? Frame it’s Upsides and downsides to the profession as advice for someone who may be considering jumping in. Cheers everyone! And give Andy Reiner a hug for me for all his years of Service at GI next time you see him

The new fire emblem game has me pretty excited, even though they modeled the protagonist after an actual Nintendo switch. However, it's got me thinking. I really enjoyed fire emblem awakening and three houses, but the series's focus has shifted drastically from the fire emblem games I cut my teeth on - the GBA games and Ike's radiant series. I kinda hope there's more focus on this next game's strategy rather than a thirst for waifus/husbandos. How do you guys feel about the path fire emblem has decided to walk? Are there any other series that have made as drastic a shift as this? Thanks for having such a great show!

BeatenDownBrian

Hey gang. If nostalgia as a concept simply didn’t exist, in what ways do you think the gaming landscape would differ from how it is now? Also, do you think games in general would be better? worse? or about the same?

Bob Buel

Howdy Hanson and the Parrysols, So, are you Team Tear (tier) or Team Tear (tare)? I have to believe it's "tare" because of the visual "tares" and broken geography in the trailers. But "tiers" probably sounds better. Which side are you on?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, What's your favorite in-game quip that you've carried over into your gaming lexicon? For instance, I use Ghost Recon Wildlands "Baby makes three", whenever a game gives me a reason.

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey all! When you make the decision that a specific game will be a "podcast game" for you, is that a good trait for the game? Or is it a way to make a boring game more entertaining? (This is coming from someone who just pushed through Saints Row)

CaptainSpandex

Hey MinnMax & the underrated Hanson! If you could know everything about 1 game developer, which would you choose? You'd know about all projects, past, present, & upcoming. All cancelled games, all the micro details, You would only not know projects that they haven't conceived of yet (this isn't magic fortune telling). The catch: you can't talk about it with ANYONE, especially for personal or financial gain. Example: you could know everything Konami, including all the personal drama involving their creators like Hideo Kojima. Or if you pick Blizzard, you'd learn everything about what Titan was before becoming Overwatch, including all their iterations along the way. First time, long time, keep up the awesome content!

CptCobblePot

Hey Minnmax, I just wanted to congratulate Ben on the no missed joke opportunities last week, but more importantly I wanted to see if Leo’s back was okay from the Rumbleverse stream?

Christian Jimenez

Hey oh, With her 1 year anniversary coming up, can we give kudos to Sarah for how freaking funny she is and what she has brought to the community. Also can we make Sarah reacting to MinnMax content a permanent show?! Thanks.

Charles Davis

SERIOUSLY!? All of these developers and NOT ONE OF THEM IS MAKING A PETER PAN GAME WHERE WE CAN EXPLORE NEVERLAND AS A LOST BOY, DEFEATING PIRATES AND TRYING NOT TO GROW UP!?!? WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING?!?!

Andrew Molnar

Hey Minnty Maxers! Maybe it's because I'm playing through Ghost of Tsushima, but especially after that State of Play, it seems like we're getting a lot of games set in feudal Japan lately. Do you think this is knocking off Vikings for the next over-used video game setting? Thanks!

Graham Jones

Hey Maxxminers, If you could, would you change the perspective of your life from first person to third person or an isometric camera angle? If you did, what would you miss most about living life in first person but what might be better? Thanks, Graham

Kevin Kennedy

Hey gang, I was rewatching The Matrix for the first time in a looooong time. How fast the plot progressed was very jarring compared to the blockbuster TV series of today. Neo goes from not knowing what the Matrix is to becoming the most powerful person in the crew in the span of 120 minutes. Also, (spoilers?) when other characters are killed off, there's no attachment since we hardly spent any time with them and learned their backstory. I couldn't help but think how much better the first Matrix movie would have been as one season of TV along the lines of Game of Thrones or Better Call Saul, where it moves more slowly and focuses more on character development than anything else. I wish I had a deep attachment to everyone in the crew and knew more of their backstories. My question to y'all is: what movies would you like to see turned into ONE short (6-12 hours total) season of TV?

Shimmy Neutron

Simple question. Is anyone ready for what 2023 is about to do to our time, wallets, interpersonal relationships, and end if the year discussions? If 80+% of these dates hold, from fire emblem and forspoken in Jan. through FF7Rebirth in Dec. I'm calling it. Greatest year in gaming ever! No debate. Now debate. 😀

Stoopkid90

Hey Minnmax I whipped up a quick game for you! It's called Running up that billboard! You have to guess if it is either a Kate Bush song or a Temtem move -----‐------------------------------ 1. Snowflake 2. Infant Kiss 3. Cheer up 4. Hammer Horror 5. Awful Song 6. Inner Spirit 7. Lullaby 8. Misty 9. Warm Cuddle 10. Blow Away Thank you for all the great content you provide! *I will dm you the answers*

If all your parents hung out together, whose parents would be the cool ones?

Have y’all ever noticed your ps5 turning itself back on? I know for sure I hit turn off and not rest mode, but then 10 mins later I hear the beep and the ps5 just decides to turn itself back on… pretty creepy.
