Hey Minn MaxTac, With CD Project Red’s announcement of a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, would you like to see them go third-person or stick to first-person for the sequel. I’d love an option to see more of my character in the game, but I did appreciate the immersive nature of an (almost) fully first person RPG.

How you doin' MinnMax crew? The complete purchase of Dynamo Pictures by Nintendo was overshadowed by the reveal of the Mario movie Direct, do you think this company will eventually work on full fledged pictures? I think in the forseable future we can only expect a new wave of Pikmin shorts. What Nintendo IP do you think are suited for short movies?

A couple weeks ago I tweaked my knee and had to take stairs one at a time, right foot first, for a couple days. Stepping onto stairs with my right foot felt extremely awkward. After I went back to walking normally, I realized: I *always* go up stairs left leg first and down stairs right leg first. It occurs to me that I've probably done this my entire life and not even noticed. I can't help but wonder if everyone starts with the same leg every time but I have no way to know. I am cursed with this knowledge of a meaningless habit that I can't stop thinking about but also can't break because doing it any other way is completely unnatural. I could make up some question about unconscious habits, but really I just want to put this thought in the back of everyone's mind.

How much is "a few"? Is a few the same as several? What numbers come to mind when you hear those terms?

LB

Hey Minnmax Show, I keep hearing the comment “Overwatch 2 is just the same game” in a negative way. Isn’t FIFA ,Madden and Call of Duty pretty much the same game every year. Everyone still buys them up. On release day there was over half a million watching on twitch. So I do believe there is hype, just a horrible marketing plan from blizzard. Just my 2 cents, love the show.

JeffM's Backlog

I'm curious about Leo's thoughts on Return to Monkey Island? I know he's been on an adventure game kick recently, and I don't think we've heard this thoughts yet. Personally I loved it! What a fun game that modernized the genre fantastically.

JT

MISSED JOKE OPPORTUNITY Hi Benn, Last week when talking about Edge Runners and it’s mature content with Kyle you asked if his whole family was watching. To which he replied, “2/3s of the family” You should have responded, “oh ok so just you and your daughter then?” Thank you I’ll take my leave now.

With the demise of Stadia, so much of the conversation online amongst gamers and journalists has been flippant and almost celebratory in it's failure - with so many misconceptions about what it even was. That's a failure on Google's part. Not advertising, and not correcting misconceptions (the Netflix of gaming, or that you had to subscribe to play the games you bought - both are incorrect), etc. Many devs were surprised by the news on Thursday that their projects no longer had a platform, with no advance warning. As of last week, over 150 game trials were available to play for FREE without an account on Stadia. Steam is running their Next Fest demo event right now, and it would be so nice on a service like Stadia to fire up all of these demos without having to install any of them! I could go on and on, but it really was something special that everyone loved to hate for some reason...including Google apparently. Thanks

Hey folks, I'm pretty new to following gaming and legitimately didn't know what Game Informer was! My question is: as I get to know the gaming media landscape, I'm looking for positive, thoughtful, and insightful people to follow. Any recommendations?

JT

Awhile ago u asked if anyone ever relistens to podcasts and I thought no at first but now I find myself listening to specific ones as I re-experience the source content. I’m replaying lou2 and listening to the deepest dive along the way (RIP Sureal). So yes listening again is great when rewatching/replaying something. FYI another deep dive on movie content in the future? The Thing was such a good discussion!

Following up on last week's question about video game dance songs: What video game song could you play during a wedding ceremony unnoticed. Either a replacement for a standard such as Cannon in D or a couples theme that your aunt won't know is from video games. My submission - It's All Connected from Tetris Effect.

TheUnchartedWolf

Hey Minnmax, I just had a horrible realization recently. It famously took 14 years or more specifically 5,156 days for Duke Nukem Forever to release from it's first reveal in 1997. It has been more than 5,240 days since Beyond Good and Evil had been revealed and I don't think it's been released yet. My question is simple: Will this game ever come out?

jacob hubbard

Hey Gang - With the leaked info on a possible new remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn, I've seen some outrage online at the prospect. I know folks were up in arms about the remake of TLoU, but I personally don't see the harm in releasing a remaster for the current gen, kind of like Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Dear Minners and fellow Maxxers, we have before us two great big entities which, out the gate, I think most gamers we speak to would ask "Why? Who is this for?" in the forms of the Mario Movie and Overwatch 2. Obviously these are easy sells to investors and financiers, but is there a Mainstream audience waiting to scoop up this content? Also, where was Waluigi in that trailer?

Kevin Kuper

Hello MinnMax, I just finished Final Fantasy 15 and (no spoilers) the end credits show the pictures that have been taken along the way by Prompto and playing the dialog as you push the car in the opening scene and it really hit me the journey I had been on and how far the characters had come. So my question is what are the crews favorite credits in a video game?

Duderado

What's your favorite food to get a big ol' bite of? I love the first huge bite into a perfectly ripe peach. It's so sweet and juicy it has to be eaten over the sink as to not cause a mess.

CrabPalace

Hey Ben Handstand and The Twirlers! What are going to be the big talking points for the games this holiday season? Here are my predictions: 1. God of War: Ragnarok is too long 2. Gotham Knights is buggy beyond belief 3. Bring back old school pokemon 4. The Callisto Protocol devs speak out about the horrific videos they had to watch to make the gore realistic (this has already been weirdly bragged about) 5. Gotham Knights is good, actually

Michael Berry

Have you all heard any more on Microsoft's Hololens? It actually looked pretty cool when it was unveiled 5 years ago. Whatever happened to that thing?

Pretty Good Printing

Chicken sandwiches almost always come with mayonnaise on them, but if you dunk chicken nuggets in mayonnaise that seems gross. What’s up with that?

Victor Garcia

What's up with the word for the food pickle? Why are pickled cucumbers so special that they get their own name? I can't think of any other pickled food that gets its own name. If I'm ordering pickled jalapenos on my pizza or sandwich, I'm just adding jalapenos to it, no fancy name. Same with pickled onions. Can you guys think of any other pickled foods that get their own name?

Nick from Atlanta

Eyes Up, MinnMax! A couple weeks ago, Denim Harry wrote in talking about how very cool Destiny is, and I'm here to reinforce that. One of the characters Denim Harry was talking about that is aware of our universe is the Hive God of Cunning and Lies, Savathûn (you can hear Destiny lore hound Byf pronounce it here https://youtu.be/QV7M8sP6Qyk?t=84). She was recently the focus of The Witch Queen expansion, and as her title suggests, she likes to mess with everyone, including us as the player. She's used the game "Two Truths, Two Lies" where she predictably tells us two truths and two lies to tell our character about the universe. To spread the love of Destiny even more, you're going to play the same game, but about the Destiny universe itself. Good luck, and if you're interested, you can always drop by the Destiny channel in the awesome MinnMax Discord (available for as low as $2 a month)! Nick from Atlanta Set 1: "Savathûn tricked one of our greatest allies into working for her for nearly a whole year and gaslit us the entire time while furthering her own goals." False, she was actively possessing his body the whole time. "Lord Shaxx, who manages the Crucible (PVP) for Guardians, can also recite Shakespeare by heart." True "Part of the Bungie 30th Anniversary featured our characters getting pulled into an interstellar game show with guns run by a cosmic horse that references game shows from our universe like The Price is Right." True, and very awesome. "The latest Exotic in the game is an auto rifle that fires regular bullets, but landing multiple hits turns your next shot into a homing micro rocket, and landing multiple micro rockets lets you load a grenade." False, Quicksilver Storm is the second most recent Exotic. The most recent Exotic is a weapon returning from Destiny 1 that basically houses the soul of one of our greatest enemies. Set 2 "Savathûn has used music to further her goals." True, her song acts as a mental virus that spreads to other people and can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58h8RhqJ5A0 (Hanson, if you want to be mischievous, you can also mention that she's also using this on us as players instead of just in-universe) "Destiny is currently in the middle of a samurai themed Season." False, Destiny is currently in the middle of a Pirate themed Season. We also already have Samurai themed armor. "Last Season in Destiny, we helped several characters defeat physical manifestations of dead people from their past by addressing the root trauma." True, and emotionally raw, and very good. "Humanity is working hard to defeat all of the other alien races in the Sol system as they each pose an existential threat in their own way." False, Humanity has already allied with factions of two of the six alien races, and the narrative has very much been reinforcing about Humanity building trust with our former enemies that all used to murder each other!

Just got back from a big road trip to Minneapolis for a family function. While we didn't stay long we did check out the Mall of America and the Sculpture garden. I'm always amazed how big the Mall is. We were looking for a Walgreens on the third floor but then ran into a Japanese store called Ebisu. It had some huge One Piece statues on display (Luffy and Zoro) and they also had the thing we needed from Walgreens. We never did find Walgreens. What are your top places to see or experience while visiting the twin cities?

BearCommando

Will Nintendo make a Mario game based specifically on the illumination movie?

Joseph Stanichar

Hello to all minnimizers and maximizers alike! What are some of your favorite books?

Ian Switaj

Howdy MinnMax! Pick a movie. Keep one actor (I'll even allow animals; ex. "Buddy" from Air Bud). The rest are played by muppets. What's your movie like?

Bryce Blackmore

In the theme of the extreme (riders republic), what is the most extreme thing you have ever done? Have the panel rate it on the scale of 0 (eating beige food) to 10 (free solo climbing)

PhillyYeetSteak

What adaptation (movie, series, etc) of a videogame have you been the most optimistic about? Which was the biggest letdown to you personally?

Rob Goddard

Hello everyone, I’ve recently started playing Hardspace: Shipbreaker on my Xbox Series X and found a wonderful podcast game to just sit and meticulously tear apart ships piece by piece. The backlog only continues to rise but I just can’t seem to pull myself away from this relaxing routine I’ve put myself into. What game or games detoured you from your backlog quest that you didn’t mind losing precious time to because it just seemed the perfect distraction at that time?

Jalopy Slow

Hey Mini Maximillians, Have you ever beaten a game that was so difficult it made you noticeably more skilled at other games in the genre? After conquering Doom Eternal my K/D ratio in Halo matches went way up, & replaying God of War after searching for the Elden Ring feels like eating cake while on a stroll during a perfectly overcast fall day. What say you, cohorts?

AnAttackCorgi

Hey hey, can we get y’all’s Monthly game score predictions and why?

AnAttackCorgi

Eat it or Defeat it, Pumpkin Spice Edition. I’ll list out 10 existing pumpkin spice products. If you want to try it, you’d “eat it”, and if not, you’d “defeat it”. Spam Oreos Lantana Hummus Bud Lite Seltzer Cup O Noodles Special K Cereal Twinkies Philadelphia Cream Cheese Cucina Antica Pasta Sauce High Whey Protein Powder

Evening everyone, Fortnite Battle Royale just celebrated the big 5 just a few weeks ago. The biggest crossover game shaking hands with everyone form Master Chief to Rick Sanchez, Goku and El Chapulìn Colorado!A fictional chatacter from tv show my parents use to watch!?Everyone expect Nintendo. Q: How do we get Nintendo to play nice with a collaboration with Fortnite? You and Donald Musterd are task to chose the Nintendo IP and how you implement it to the game. I'd go with Callie and Marie with special guest Off the Hook in game concert from Splatoon 1 and 2. And ONE in game backbling. Thank you.Peace. <( •.•)>

Hey folks. I was playing Threes next to my dogs the other day, when it dawned on me that other than the lack of being able to see the color red, I feel like it is possible to train a dog the pattern skills to play a decent game of Threes, with the right training. What popular video games do you think are in the wheelhouse of a dog, if given the proper training?

Erin T.

Howdy gang! Does the weather affect what type of games you’re in the mood for?

YARF

As Halloween looms ever closer, and we creep through the month of spooky spooky, I was thinking about games and movies that I loved of the horror genre. Some were so disturbing, so compelling and so dreadful… I didn’t want to trek along their path again. SOMA literally served as the catalyst to an existential crisis, even though I consider it one of my favorite games. Silent Hill 2 shaped my formative years, but do I have FUN playing it? Ehh, more like morbid curiosity, and compelled to behold it, analyzing the themes and symbols. The Witch, and Hereditary movies made my brain sizzle.. Any movies or games that trigger you, elicit feelings of dread, negatively impacted your soul/psyche, but yet, you just couldn’t look away?

Jason Wojnar

Have you ever been the first in the world to do something? I'm fairly confident I'm the first American to ever study at my University (which itself is onver 150 years old)

Jonnythan 12

I really hope you guys bring this up when talking about Overwatch 2; depending on your phone plan you may literally not be able to get past the start screen. If you have a prepaid plan like Cricket, then it doesn’t let you do the phone SMS activation that is required before playing.

Shimmy Neutron

Hello fellow kids. I play tons of different games but my favorite genre is rpgs. I'm always looking at the leaders in this genre and the occasional indie to see how they are pushing forward their individual series and the genre as a whole. Who do you all think has had the most success in the past 5 years? Who's fallen off? And what are some things in the rpg space that you would like to see change or improve on in the future? Thanks 4 your time and the laughs.

Tey Peryie

Hello team Minnmax, after seeing that the most popular aspirational job for kids now a days is YouTuber /influencer (congratulations btw you all made it) - i was thinking back to dream jobs as a kid. And I gotta know: What do you think is the absolute best job?

TRUEfoe

Hi MinnMax, with Halloween around the corner, I've tasked myself with making up the best Halloween joke of all time. Can you rate it? Why did Skeleton Robin Hood leave the costume party? He forgot his Bow n' Marrow...

Ajay Nath

Every year I try and fail to complete costume quest 1. Is costume quest the best Halloween themed game of all time?

Cody Hester

Dear Ben and Company, I picked up NBA2k23 after not seriously playing a basketball game since the Dreamcast. I had heard stories of microtransactions and loot boxes and I had low expectations as a whole, but actually playing it still surprised me. There are multiple forms of gambling in the convoluted MyTEAM mode, MyCAREER is purposefully inefficient and obtuse, and sadly, overall the game is just not very fun for me. This is easily my biggest disappointment in games; what is yours?

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! I really enjoyed the Overwatch 2 talk on this week’s Party Chat. One thing that was not mentioned is Activision Blizzard potentially cutting off a large portion of players thanks to their SMS Protect feature. This feature is now required for all Overwatch 2 players regardless of PC or console. The problem is their SMS Protect feature does not work with several cell service providers, like Boost Mobile, Metro PCS, and even one of the larger providers, Cricket Wireless. These services are considered “pre-paid” and Blizzard won’t accept your phone number for SMS Protect because of it. As a Cricket Wireless customer myself, I find it ridiculous that my phone is good enough to let me do my online financial banking (and all other 2FA), but apparently isn’t good enough to play Overwatch 2. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Funky Duck

Hey team MinnMax, Following up on last week's discussion of "which video game song would get everyone on the dance floor at a wedding", I just wanted to share that my wedding was last weekend and we set the ceremony procession to Jessie's Theme from FFVII Remake. Turns out you can do whatever you want and people are still just excited to be at a wedding.

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, Who is the most inspirational person you’ve heard speak? And how did it change you?

Dominationic

Hey there MinnMax crew! When you heat something up in the microwave for one minute, do you type 6-0, START or do you type 1-0-0, START? Both options count down to 59 seconds but typing 60, START is one less keystrokes so you technically get your food a little bit quicker!

Jc Ice

JeffM’s owl mug(it’s an owl, right?) first looked like a mug with pecs and abs. I don’t know….does anyone else see it?

Starkiller

Hey MinnMaxers, super simple question; what is the best trailer ever?

Mcdoeswell

Hello there! Which property or setting has the most untapped potential in the games medium? Personally TMNT’s ‘The Last Ronin” would be great. Also, the Steam Punk aesthetic in The Order: 1886 had such a distinct and atmospheric setting that I feel has more to offer.

Rinaldus

Hi Benny Hanson's Sushi and Japanese Steakhouse, Not sure if any of the MinnMax crew watched the latest Pokemon Scarlet/Violet trailer today, but I really have to get off my chest how technically out-of-date the game looks. To preface, I'm very excited for this new Pokemon game. The franchise finally going full open-world is something I've been waiting for since the announcement of the Switch, and between the new quality of life features, three-pronged main questline, and new ways to interact with your Pokemon, I really think this will stand as the best Pokemon game since HeartGold/SoulSilver. But whoo doggy if it doesn't look like the ugliest AAA game I've seen in my life. From sparse bushes popping in directly in front of your player character, to tiny 256x256 textures being repeated on the sides of massive cliff faces, to Sunflora running around at a single frame per second, to zero blending done between where the ground and mountains meet in most places, to the horrendously bare bones battle UI; this game is just plain ugly. And I get it's on the Switch. I get that this is incredibly outdated hardware. But to me none of that is an excuse. It's the most profitable media franchise's premier title. Arguably the biggest system seller for the Switch, full-stop. And it's the worst looking game of Nintendo's first-party AAA line up. Xenoblade Chronicles DE/2/3, Breath of the Wild, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mario Odyssey; they all eat Pokemon's lunch visually, and it really feels like a game that looks this embarrassing should be called out for it by everyone at all times. And it kinda feels like it isn't. What do you and the panel think? Is it nuts to be preoccupied with how ugly this new Pokemon game looks? Does it fairly get enough crud for how technically inferior it is to basically all of its contemporaries? Would love to hear your input. Sorry for the crazy long rant, and please feel free to cut out as much from this post if you decide you want to use this question in today's podcast. All the best, Richard
