Hey Minimum Maximers, I'm of the opinion that every game, regardless of how it breaks it, should have co-op. I've never played a game with co-op and thought "this would be more fun by myself". Question is, what is a single player game you've always wanted to play with a friend? (My answer is Just Cause. The fact that they've made 4 games without it is absolutely mind-boggling to me. Especially with how popular the multiplayer mod on Just Cause 2 was.)

Is the internet too quick to jump to conclusions? When Hellena Taylor came forward with a video about why she was no longer playing the role of Bayonetta the internet mob was ready to tear Nintendo and Platinum to shreds, but with new information from Bloomberg, we now know that she was not telling the whole story about what she was offered, and the initial outrage now seems unjustified?

Pelicanman

With hype building for God of War: Ragnarok, what’s the most excited you’ve ever been for a game? Did it live up to those sky-high expectations or did it break your little gamer heart?

Robert Key

Is it weird to y'all that actors who do motion capture and voice work in well-regarded games don't get more attention from Hollywood and filmmakers? I'm talking particularly about performances in franchises like Red Redemption, Last of Us, and God of War. I just finished my third or fourth playthrough of God of War, and every performance in that game is just incredible. It made me wonder why we don't see these actors in more film. Why do y'all think that is?

Aaron Hurd

If humans in real life were divided into D&D classes, what class would you be? Each of the 4 of you have to be a different class, and for reference the D&D 5e classes are Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock and Wizard. And a key fact is that this doesn’t mean magic exists in real life, but rather you would be the equivalent of whatever that class would do in real life (I.e. a ranger may be a nature lover living the homesteading life, or a wizard may be someone just obsessed with the pursuit of knowledge and philosophy)

Charles Davis

Blizzard have said they're aiming for Overwatch 2 to be a regularly updated live game that will rival the giants like Destiny etc. The PVP element is still the best out there imo but a little tired overall. What do you think the PVE content needs to do to meet their design goals?

Garrett Wainstock

The most disturbing thing I've ever seen in a video game is something I learned how to do from the gamefaqs easter eggs section of Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. If you mind control a soldier and can't find a convenient way to kill yourself, you can click in and hold L3+R3 for a few seconds. They move their gun to their head, scream out louder and louder in agony, and finally shoot themselves. It has been awhile, but I think you had to hold the sticks down the entire time they were screaming. I remember putting down the controller, staring at the screen, and feeling completely responsible for this horrible suffering. The game does not tutorialize this whatsoever. What has disturbed you the most in games?

How do you all feel about the term “content” do describe your work and creative work in general? I hear it all the time now, mostly shockingly in a behind the scenes video for God of War Ragnorok to describe the story. Personally, I can’t stand the term. It makes it seem like everything is just being churned out of a factory with no emotion or care put into it. Is it demeaning to you at all to have your efforts described that way? Am I weird for coming to hate hearing the word “content?”

Muffyn Crumbs

Hey Ben & Co – I’ve got a game for you called “Single Syllable Showdown”, based on the card game “Poetry for Neanderthals”. How it works is I’ll give you a video game title, and you have to try to get the group to guess it by only using single-syllable words to describe it. If you get the group to correctly guess the game then you get a point. However, if you use a word that’s more than 1 syllable you don’t get the point for that game. Y’all can decide on whether you want to be on teams or just have Ben say them all of whatever. It’s typically done where one team tries to guess as many as they can within a time limit, similar to Taboo. I’ll list a bunch of games, feel free to only do some if you want.   Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Metal Gear Solid 2 My Friend Pedro The Last of Us Resident Evil: Village Batman: Arkham Asylum Chrono Trigger Cyberpunk 2077 Super Mario 64 Halo Anthem Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Starcraft 2 Wii Sports Frogger Hades Kingdom Hearts Silent Hill Goldeneye 64 Minecraft Red Dead Redemption 2

Ben Shively

With the Kickstarter game Scorn coming out to mostly mediocre reviews, what is your favorite Kickstarter video game or board game to ever release? I’d go with the board game Nemesis. It’s a horror themed semi-cooperative game where you and a group of players are trying to escape an alien infested space ship.

The new Silent Hill announcement certainly has me hyped, even if hesitantly so. The scariest game experience I've ever had was Silent Hill 3's subway level, playing in the basement on PS2 with an open door behind me that I was too scared to get up and close. I'm curious how many members of the crew have played Silent Hill games, how many, and do you have a game series you consider scarier?

Dan from Canada

What’s the heaviest item(s) you could buy with $100?

If all your parents hung out together whose parents would be the cool ones of the group?

Howdy. The great Filmspotting podcast has what they call the Filmspotting Pantheon. The Pantheon is reserved for the best of the best movies. Movies so good that when you hear them on a top 5 list, you say "duh". If a movie enters the pantheon, it is no longer eligible to be used in future top 5 lists on the podcast. This is to allow lesser known works time to shine in new lists. If you were to build a MinnMax game pantheon, what games would you add and why? Remember that the game will be treated as a given when creating relevant lists in the future.

Hey Minnmax. Have you ever had a piece of media that you loved and wanted everyone you know/someone specifically to experience it, but because of the medium it's in that's not possible. For example, I would love everyone to watch Chainsaw Man or at least watch it's masterpiece of an opening, but understandably not everyone is into watching an anime.

AnAttackCorgi

Shalom MinnMax Mensches! Vancouver BC is having a Hottober, a veritable Hotumn, if you will. I miss the smell of crisp morning air or fresh rain on fall leaves. What is your favourite Fall scent? Cheers and stay Kosher

RickyWinterborn

do ya'll like getting into the spooky or holiday seasons by watching movies and going to themed events etc? Im all about THEMING but my wife has no interest, i have to force her to make pumpkin spice lattes and buy the orange oreos.

Hi MinnMax, Since the Switch has been showing it’s age recently, everybody has been talking about when we’re finally going to get a Switch Pro. However, Nintendo has a history of making some pretty wild decisions between console generations. Do you think Nintendo will make any major changes to the Switch form factor, if not with the switch pro, than maybe with the generation after? Or are we stuck with the switch form factor forever?

John Eirich

Hey Ben and the MinnMaxers, Apparently there is scuttlebutt about an internal Crystal Dynamics email polling the popularity of Legacy of Kain IP!!?!?! Is there hope for a new game or dare I say remaster!? What is the MinnMax poll an LOK? I loved Soul Reaver and never got to finish the series and currently there is no easy way to do that.(The first game ends with a cliffhanger that I never got to finish)

Andy Dwyer

Hi, what’s something that’s been bringing you joy recently?

Tokyo Game Life

Hi MinnMax, I recently visited Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan. It was incredible and easily the best theme park attraction I’ve experienced. What is the best theme park attraction or ride you’ve ever experienced?

Kenneth Evans

I've come to the realization that DLC is just not for me. Either DLC comes out so long after I've finished a game that I've moved on to other games and have no interest in going back or I am playing an older game with DLC (like the Final Fantasy 7 remake) and by the time I have put in 30+ hours, I am ready to just roll credits and move on. Do any of you feel the same way? Or do you look forward to and enjoy DLC? PS: thanks for the Tinykin recommendation, having a blast with it!

Eric Seal

Spooky query for you all. What do you think is worse in a ghostly encounter: Seeing a ghost and no one else can see it, or not seeing a ghost that everyone else can see?

Michael Berry

Where is Power Stone? It has been over 20 years since a new entry. Capcom had bonafide hits on the Dreamcast with Power Stone 1 and 2, and they followed those up with only a port on the PSP? You would think Capcom would bring back their party fighter after the success of Smash and Multiversus. Or at least port the first 2 games to current systems.

umryan

Hello Minnmax, while casually browsing twitter yesterday I saw an image that horrified and shook me to my core. It was a magnified image of a presumably common ant's face. What is the last thing you can remember that shook you to your core? Whether it was a simple image you saw, a scary movie, or a real life experience? PS. I can't recommend looking up said image of an ant's face live on the podcast, but your reaction(s) could make the show better!

So with the year drawing to a close I'd thought I'd share the current view counts of all of 2022 Nintendo directs to see which direct was the most viewed and which was the least. So from most to least here are the totals. 2/9/2022 Direct 6.3 million views Super Mario Bros Movie Direct 5.9 million views 9/13/ 2022 Direct 4.9 million views Splatoon 3 Direct 2.9 million views Partner Showcase Direct 2.7 million views Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Direct 876 thousand views And that's everything this year Nintendo has labeled a direct. It does not include indie worlds or pokemon presents as neither are titled direct. ;)

Crayter

Hey Minn-panelists. Not technically a question, just looking to validate or dispute a working hypothesis I've developed: Mario's primary attack is to jump, and his arch nemesis is a dragon-like reptile dude. Therefore, we can conclude that Mario is, in fact, a dragoon. Just to make it a question in the end though, any other video game characters that secretly, but perfectly fulfil a specific class archetype?

Joshua

Hi Everyone, Which type of grapes are better? Red or green

Shawn Mills

I've been really enjoying Marvel Snap that released this week from one of Hearthstone's creators. It's a really interesting design for a card game, matches last about 5 minutes and you can bet additional points at the end of the match if you think you are going to win which can put you further up or down the ladder leading to some really interesting mind games. Do you think this game has the potential to last for several years like Hearthstone or will it be flash in the pan like Artifact?

Fatt Mish

Hi Maxxminions With some new games being announced that may be ten or more years out, do you ever stop and think about what life will be like when those games are finally released, or if you'll even be around to play them. I'm middle-aged now (43) and I occasionally ponder over my mortality and the possibility that I may not see the next big Zelda game after Tears of the Kingdom or the maybe Elder Scrolls VI when it finally releases. What say you? -Mars, from Minnesota

Ryan Butler

Hello Minnesota Maximizers, I like baseball just fine, but there’s 162 games a year so it’s hard to watch or care about all of them. However, I really get into it during the postseason in October. So my question is what’s the postseason for video games? The time of year when it’s most exciting to be a fan and when people who usually don’t care much get invested.

Royal Mudkip

Evening everyone, Have you ever had a snack so yummy that it makes you dance a little bit? I found myself munching and moving while eating oeros and peanut butter. I was just so content I couldn't help myself! Peace!

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey crew, What is the harshest feedback you have ever gotten that you really appreciated?

Matt Rogers

Hey everyone, Can you have a game as your GOTY if you have not beaten the main story? Potential example is Hanson and Elden Ring. I think you can but interested to hear your opinions. Also no more giving JeffM flack on Red Dead 2 until Hanson completes Elden Ring!

betoq92 .

After a trip to the grocery store me and my girlfriend tried to mimic the laugh of lady that was in line behind us. In mimicking her then we genuinely started laughing at one anothers laugh to the point I pulled over and we were crying and gasping for air. This was the whole 20 minute drive home. My question Minnmaxies is what happened that day and whats the hardest you have EVER LAUGHED?

Edern

Hi Everyone, In previous episodes and Party chat, you frequently discuss that many popular games these days are live-service games and that you don't/can't cover them. It's true that most podcasts, like yours, cover primarily new games. KindaFunny recently did an excellent episode on Destiny 2. Multiple of their crew played the game together for a couple of weeks, giving an interesting in-depth report on how it is to start the game today. What game would you play if you had time to do something similar? Destiny 2 ? Warframe ? Star Citizen ? GTA Online ? You could "time box" your play sessions to the length of a regular solo campaign, like 30 hours, and potentially include them in the GOTY discussion. P.-S.: I enjoy your show :) The best compliment I can give to a podcast: I often reduce the speed from 1.4 to 1.2x so it last longer ;)

Otsego12

Hey, Minnfolk! What’s the strangest/most awful thing you’ve said while gaming? I was playing Ghost Watcher’s with some friends, and it was the first game we really figured out the rules on how to catch the ghost, in this game it was the child. So, we do what we need to do to catch it and I excitedly cheer “T-Bag that child!” to which we all do while questioning how life got us to this point. How about you?

Mathias Jülich

Hey cohorts, I‘d like to defend Pixar‘s „the good dinosaur“, which you have repeatedly slammed. I find it to be one Pixar’s most successful outings. The characters are deeply sympathetic, the story flows naturally, and -most importantly- the emotions hit really hard. Aside from that, the visual style is breathtaking, mixing photo-realistic environments with insanely charming character designs and animation. I sincerely don’t get the push back to the film. Maybe people couldn’t get over their expectations raised by the initial concept for the movie. Or maybe people were not able to shake the many similarities to „the Lion King“ and „in a land before time“. Valid objections, for sure, I’d still argue „the good dinosaur“ is an extremely enjoyable and deep experience. I’d be happy to hear you share your problems with the movie or your reactions re-watching it. Peace and Tschüss Mathias from Berlin

Seth Filbin

What form of entertainment has provided the most meaningful connection? We obviously love games, but I have acknowledge that music has been my strongest and deepest connection over the years, followed closely by books. Oh how love my books! What say you?!?

Mathias Jülich

What do you think is worse: when movie (or game ?) trailers spoil major plot points or when they spoil jokes?

Mark Polley

Hi team, there is a game me, my parents, and a few of my friends have played every day this year. WORDLE. This is unprecedented for me, and I bet a lot of people since the wii. Is there a chance this game is ending up on anyone's 2 10's this year?

Gabe Valdes

Hi Bennisota & friends! Who do you think would be a better fit for Mario? I think we can all agree that Chris Pratt is a pretty meh choice for the role. I got to talking with my partner about who would be a better fit. She brought up that Nintendo/Illumination want an A-list celeb so they can get more non gamers interested in the Film. I tried to think of one but struggled to come up with anyone that met those parameters: they gotta be on the same level of fame as Pratt, and they could actually do a better job than him. There's tons of just as famous boring dudes who can probably do as good a job, but I struggle to think of anyone who'd actually better. Meanwhile there's a bunch of people who I imagine would be a much better fit for the role, e.g. almost any actual voice actor, but who dont have the star power the studios need in order to be realistically considered. What do you all think? Who would the best actor for Mario be, given these constraints? Am I completely forgetting an obvious choice? And I guess secondarily, putting aside the $$$ aspect, what characteristics do you think would make the perfect VA for the iconic plumber? First question so go easy on my loquaciousness 😓 and thanks for being such a cool community!

Jason Wojnar

I take issue with your greatest works of all time list. It is awfully english-language centered. Even translated works don't count because once you translate it to English it effectively becomes a new piece of art. The same applies to songs. Your list is invalid unless you become fluent in every language. Therefore, I contend that the 1972 Ukrainian televisión film Chervona Ruta and Calle 13's Atreve-te are the greatest works of art of all time and you can't argue otherwise.

Jake S

Hi Minnmax crew, I am wondering what the team's take is on the whole Bayonetta 3 situation? I fully support voice actors and actresses being paid handsomely for their important work. However, Jason Schreier from bloomberg is reporting there may be more to the story than the $4,000 dollar offer that the internet has been reacting to. I was outraged when I first heard Hellena Taylor's claims, but I'm open to having my mind changed when new evidence emerges (especially evidence from a credible source like Jason). There are so many hard working individuals that that spent so much time making this game. What if those individuals are paid based on sales numbers? I'm hesitant to boycott the work of many based on the claims of one. Should I support it? What are your thoughts? Thanks so much, Jake

Ajay Nath

Hi minnmaxxers, I preordered bayonetta 3 December 2018! Now the game is finally going to be released. Did you ever preorder a game and have to wait a long time for the release? What was the game and how long did you wait? Was it worth the wait?

Bowsie

Now that the Kinda Funny Spare Bedroom has been revealed, when is Minnmax going to invest in a crazy setup like that? Janet, you were there in person, how does it compare in real life?

PlainShane

Does it matter that Overwatch 2 is mostly just Overwatch 1 when the game is still so damn fun to play? I uninstalled Overwatch 2 after playing a few games and thinking "omg, this is just the first game with nothing new." A few days later I reinstalled it after realizing I liked the feeling of playing Overwatch again, and now it's my go-to game for the time being.

BearCommando

Hey Ben and crew, Surprised to not hear you guys talk much about Rings of Power yet. Did any of you watch it and what did you think now that the season is over? I personally loved it. Some people claimed it was too slow but I enjoyed the world-building and character development over constant action.

Malcolm Holliday

Hey Minnmax, if you could shoot any condiment from your index finger what would it be? I'd probably pick Grey Poupon, I've been in a big mustard mood these days.
