Yo MinnMax crew, I just tried TRUFF (spicy truffle) sauce for the first time and wow was it good! What are your go to sauces and/or dips? Side note: Extra hugs for Kelsey. The world really sucks when people are so selfish.

If you were tasked with cursing someone, what console would you make them eat every meal off of for the rest of their life? - Cherrystemic

RE4 was widely regarded as the best. RE 2 Remake took that spot for me and a lot of friends. Will the remake cycle never end? Can you picture an Re7 remake? maybe psvr2 port? Is the best Resident Evil the PlayStation 7 remake of 1, 2 or 4?

Adam Cohen

Hey MinnMax crew, I was watching Bluey recently with my son (it's a kid's cartoon, Kyle and Jeff will know what I'm talking about) and I love that the parents are not only funny, but also really good parents. Conversely, I get really annoyed when shows or movies have characters be bad parents just for a cheap laugh. What's a character detail that you enjoy or dislike in fictional characters?

Jake Z

Why are we wasting time talking about the middling Gotham Knights when there is a great new game in Plague Tale Requiem to talk about?

Wes Bates

Hello MinnMax Crew, Considering there are many amazing NPC’s and side-characters in video games, are there any standouts that you feel deserve more love or more specifically their own game? For instance, would you like to see a machine shop management sim starring Nico from DMC5 or does Sadie Adler from Red Dead Redemption 2 deserve her own bounty hunting shooter? I’d love to hear who the crew thinks deserves their own spin off games. Thanks for taking my question if you do! ~ Wes

Hey Minnmax crew! Everyone has brought up Bo Burnhams "Inside" multiple times, have you seen his show "Zach Stone is gonna be famous"? Couldn't recomend it more its currently on netflix. My wife and I quote that show on a daily basis which leads me to my question. What show or movie do you quote the most around your house? P.s. I know im a little late but Mitch Hedbergs best joke has to be "an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs"

Seangocongo

Near the end of my XC3 (Xenoblade Chronicles 3) playthrough I started listening to the audiobook, “The Wisdom of Insecurity” by Allan Watts. To my surprise, this audiobook touched on subjects that enriched my perspective of the themes in XC3. Can you remember a time that you were consuming two different types of media that ended up synergizing your experience of both?

God's Garage

I know there’s a lot of games right now, but MARVEL SNAP EVERYBODY! It’s here. It’s great. And it’s not getting enough love. I’ve never been into a deck builder game before but this one has its hooks in me real bad

Rob Goddard

My wife, best friend, and I were chatting recently about our time as Blockbuster Video employees. Was a great trip down memory lane and it made me wonder if there was any fond video store memories amongst the crew?

Jason Wojnar

If you could either instantly become fluent in a language of your choice (we're talking native level, watch movies without subtitles and read advanced literature) or become a master in one musical instrument, which would you choose? My answer: none, it's the struggle and effort of developing these skills that makes you a better, more interesting, and creative person.

Michael Berry

Could you develop a Minnmax simulator and put it on Steam? At the very least, make one through Dreams. Please and thank you.

I’m slowly chipping away at Horizon Zero Dawn and find myself hesitant to outright destroy some of the machine animals I come across. Seems like they’re just there and I don’t have a real reason to fight them. Meanwhile when I see a Behemoth in Final Fantasy, it’s getting killed on sight. Are there some enemies that give you pause before fighting them? Do enemy designs ever have an effect on your willingness to fight them?

NateDogg

Hi Ben & crew! The near photorealistic depictions of Amsterdam in the new Call of Duty lit up the internet earlier this week. Growing up, I distinctly remember being similarly wowed by the promotional materials of games like Command & Conquer, Unreal, and Max Payne. Am I nuts? Do any of you have any memories of thinking "this is as good as it gets" for video game graphics? If so, what games set off this reaction?

RickyWinterborn

i started persona 5, and i really liked it but an hour or two in and I kinda just wish this was an anime i could watch... what games do you wish were actually a tv show or movie instead?

Kevin Kennedy

Can we please talk about how the song “Cloud Country” from Stardew Valley: https://youtu.be/Tk6tA6OVqvk was clearly heavily inspired by “Rainbow Connection” from the Muppets: https://youtu.be/69PQuw0r3oM Whenever “Rainbow Connection” comes on my daughter’s kid’s music playlist, I think “how did Stardew Valley get on here?” and then Kermit starts singing. Gets me every time! Are there any other OST songs from video games that were heavily inspired by other songs?

Forrest With Two Rs

What's your favorite game from a genre you don't otherwise play much?

Malcolm Holliday

Do you think Nintendo plans on continuing the hybrid console approach? I feel like the next update is gonna be like a dock that super charges the Switch some how during docked play to increase performance and graphics.

Styster

What’s a game that “feels” like an indie game, but isn’t? Conversely, what’s a game that feels AAA, but is an indie game?

Hugo Aguilar

Hey Ben and the Minnmaxers Have I been a fool all this time? Let me explain, I recently picked up Mario Odyssey having not played a Mario game since 64 back in the day. All I can say is that I am blown away with the creativity and design of all the worlds, I can’t believe I deprived myself of this for so long. Is there a game or franchise you’ve put off for so long only to be surprised on how much you adore it?

Erik D. Serpenti

I don't have a question. I just came to say how hilarious Ben was on Fire Escape Cast. I've never heard him that loose. And at one point, after mocking Mahard relentlessly, he just yelled out "fuck you, Mike!" It was Fire Escape's best episode. We've gotta find a way to bring loose Ben over to MinnMax. I do have a question. When will we have Loose Ben on MinnMax? Thank you. Love you all.

Vilis

Simple question for the MinnMax crew: with Resident Evil 4 being remade and the Neverending popularity of Final Fantasy, do you think these sort of weird names for franchises from Japan help build their mystique and sell them in the West? In Japan, it's simply "Biohazard" which is probably cool for them since it's Katakana and a Western Word, but in America it'd be like "Umm, okay? I'm in a zombie mansion and it's called Biohazard?" Whereas Resident Evil is a wild choice of name that makes the American brain think "Well what's that about? Zombies? I'm sold." Similar, having Final Fantasy as a title was simply a pragmatic statement, but is kind of a bold proclamation as far as titles go. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but seeing RE4 on the docket made me think of it.

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, What's the longest you've unnecessarily been on a load screen? We've all been there, you start loading an open world so you hop on your phones and scroll twitter for 5 minutes only to find "PRESS A TO CONTINUE" in the corner once the game loaded.

Chandler

I already asked a question but actually I want to ask this one instead: Do you think that Gotham knights could be a result of all the other WB stuff going on with them trying to save money? Maybe it was on track to be a really good game and funding got pulled before it was finished? What do you think happened?

Mike Lynch

What do you think will happen first: A. House Of The Dragon finishes it's full run, or. B. George R.R. Martin finishes The Winds Of Winter, his final Song Of Fire and Ice novel?

Beau Bakken

Hey Minnmax, years ago I got a game pitch email read on the Game Informer Show about my lawnmower game idea. Basically a game with AAA graphics getting the high score mowing licensed celebrity yards. I’m surprised no developer has run with the idea, especially amidst the plethora of life sims like Pressure Wash Simulator and PC builder Simulator. As well as reminding today’s developers of the solid gold lawnmower sim idea, I want to gift them another: Leaf Rake Hero! Again I want AAA graphics and licensed celebrity yards. My question for the crew is whose yard would you want to rake to get the global high score? (p.s. New Show+ idea: Rake an elderly neighbor’s yard and towards the end of the stream go inside and have a nice little chat with neighbor over tea and fancy coffee cake) you’re welcome -Beau Bakken

Hey all, a while back I bought RE4 on sale in hopes to play it this October. Despite the remake coming, I started it and I loving it. I’ve never really played any other RE games or really horror games before. My question is, where do I go from here? There’s a bunch of new ones games on sale right now like 2 and 3 Remake as well as 7 and Village. Should I buy those? Do I start from the beginning and play the originals? Would I even like the others? - Will E.

Happy Halloween minnmax crew. We dont really celebrate it here in australia but im born on Halloween so ill just celebrate that. Anyway Age of Mythology sequel announced!! I'm so excited. My brother and I still play the original to settle who does dishes, cook tea/ dinner (I dont know what americans call the last meal of the day) games went for so long that nothing really gets done around the house. Sometimes we play best out of 3 on either super smash bros or dragon ball z fighters to keep it short. My question is have you ever settled chores or just general stuff to do through competetive games? Love the show, not active in the discord but but both my brother and I are day one listeners. keep on keeping on. Love from south Australia

Eric Newman

Hey Ben and crew! Are you familiar with the idea of television shows ‘jumping the shark’? Essentially the point at which the quality of all future installments began going south. With the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 2 I’d love to know where the crew stands on some of their favorite franchises. Where did your favorite game series jump the shark / has the shark not yet been jumped? (Call of duty has never been better than the original MW2)

Tanner Methven

Hey Minnmax crew, During your discussion on the many Silent Hill announcements, you reference the Anna Purna game (SH: Townfall) as being made by the developers of Observer. Observer was made by Bloober team, who are working on the SH:2 remake. The team behind Townfall made a game called Observation; an awesome overlooked sci-fi indie gem that deserves its time in the light. Also, I am posting this for my this for my friend Jonah, who is not a patron but was apparently very incensed by this mistake. Jonah, if you’re hearing this, please just become a patron so I never have to do this again.

SpaceTowel

Not a huge fan of differentiating the God of War's based on the year they were released. Let's just normalize calling it "Cory Barlog's God of War" like Sid Meier and Robin Williams would've wanted. Taking this one step further though, what game would be better/more successful if it had the director's name in it. For example, Medal of Honor may still be around if it was called "Steven Spielberg's Medal of Honor." Just saying.

AnAttackCorgi

Hello fellow GoGoGadget Lovers! When’s the last time a non-gaming piece of technology blew your mind? Using your first smartphone? Enjoying IMAX in theatres for the first time? Blow us away!

Joe Dean

Hello MinnMax, I was shopping yesterday and saw that Egg Nog is back in stores, which makes me wonder do y'all like egg nog? With alcohol, sans alcohol, only a specific brand or variation? I've got to know. Thanks, Joe Dean

Greetings gaming gurus - what is the best sandwich cheese and why is it provolone?

micspam

Can Call of Duty be controversial anymore? Everything aside about the...varied quality in missions and pacing in the campaign, MW2022 makes some pretty strong statements about US foreign policy decisions and doesn't try to "both sides" its narrative. Does anyone still care about what Call of Duty has to say? Or are people just waiting for the next "Shock" moment ala No Russian?

YARF

Have y’all(you and all) ever picked up on “catch phrases/buzz words/trademarks” from friends, family, colleagues, maybe someone in that very room? You know what I mean! The “ass kiss rodeos” the “gun to your head”.

Gabe Valdes

Ey dere' Benjaminnmax and crew. What is the most Midwestern game? Culver's vibes only

BlakJak

hey ben and kelsey. You guys manage small businesses, so you're technically managers. Do you ever think of yourselves this way? And do you do anything to actively improve your management abilities?

idunbin2

Missed Joke Opportunity! On the previous episode of the MinnMax show, when discussing the Silent Hill news from last week, Kyle mentioned that Bloober Team “has the blueprints to make a very cool game”, missing the opportunity to say they “have the Bloobprints to make a very cool game.”

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey crew! How do you all feel about stealth in games these days? It seems like we used to dread stealth sequences, but Leon crouching and hiding in the new RE4 gameplay seems to have people intrigued. How about you all?

TheUnchartedWolf

Hey everyone, first of all massive thanks to Kelsey for having me on collector corner. Secondly, considering how badly I derailed this week's party chat, I decided I'd do the same with the main show and ask the panel: What are your thoughts on the current state of Satire? What do you feel is considered a satire and most importantly, is Leo Vader's youtube a satire on game reviewers?

Mark Polley

This past weekend I played Inside, and Florence for the first time, and lloved these bite sized, single session experiences that have really stuck with me. What are some of your favourite single session games?

McCracKenway

I just want to highlight Suriel's excellent video essay "Can Open-World Games Exist Without Conquest." I thought it was a really interesting exploration of how open world game design frequently reproduces the patterns of imperialism and colonialism as a player fantasy (and highlighted developer Meghna Jayanth as an interviewee!). I really want to see more of what he does in this vein--but I'm curious about you guys. There are also questions coming at you this week about whether COD's campaigns misrepresenting US war crimes or having you aim guns at civilians to "deescalate" is important, and so I guess I just wanted to ask, do you think it's important to question the worldviews games present (whether that's more obviously like in COD or more subtly in accepted design tropes like Suriel talks about)?

Mulligan

Hi Ben, the new shows all look great, but as someone who primarily enjoys MinnMax through podcasts and not YouTube/Twitch I can't keep up with them as much as I'd like. Would love to hear your thoughts on the lean towards video instead of podcast content - is the move towards video due to audience numbers, the creative opportunities video offers, just the fact computer games are a visual medium? Do you see more shows coming in a podcast-able format in the future, or is video the way forward? Thanks! (Hope this isn't too much of a Party Chat type question for the regular show)

Peter Gallagher

Hey Ben, last week when talking about Dragon Ball Z: The Breakers, instead of you saying “it was a tough sell” you should have said “it was an Important Sell”. Thanks. As for a question, is there a phrase or saying that is totally ruined for you from working in journalism? I spent a year writing for a website and quickly realized how lazy it is to end an article with “Only time will tell..”

Spencer

Hello Cohorts! Philosophical question: do we in the video games world put too much pressure on older games to "hold up"? I can appreciate how impressive it is when a game feels timeless or when a simple and clear design, like Tetris, works for decades without many changes, but is this a reasonable expectation for most games? It seems to me that in other media there is a bit more of a healthy expectation of responsibility on the part of the reader/audience to engage with work on its own terms. That's not say we should give things a pass based purely on age or historical context, but as an example: during college I watched a bunch of silent films for the first time, and it was weird! It felt like something was missing most of the time to my modern ears, but as I watched more of them and started to internalize the language of that era, I could compare them and even genuinely enjoy them without having to resort to saying "I can appreciate what it was doing for the time." I won't pretend they are as fun as throwing on a Star War or a Kill Bill, but I got more out of them than I ever expected once I started to engage with them more. While I understand the games press needs to focus overall on new releases, I'm just wondering if a lot of people in games are depriving themselves of great experiences while waiting for a modern remake to "fix" everything that doesn't immediately feel comfortable to a player in 2022.

If SEGA announced the Dreamcast 2 in collaboration with Tencent and it was a system that connected to your brain and allowed you to play games in your sleep AND it cost $2000 next year, would you buy one?

Charlie Hunter

I'm so happy Kelsey is here to talk Xenoblade Chronicles 3! It's hard for me to talk about this game without rambling forever or going full spoilers, so I'll just say: It Rules - GOTY 2022. Kelsey, who's your favorite party member? What is your favorite combat bark? Also, do you have a favorite track from the soundtrack? (Kelsey, I'm so sorry about your store. Wishing you and all your employees the best)

P4R4D15E 1NC.

What game has scared or affected you after playing? I just wrapped up Jill’s story in resident evil 1 remake and I never knew there were sharks. I have a phobia of water levels in video games. It instills terror within me. All stemming from super Mario 64 dire dire docks eel. Needless to say. When I entered the aqua ring I was screaming and borderline hyperventilating, but with the encouragement of my twitch chat I made it through. Lol HAPPY HALLOWEEN COHORTS!

Max Myers

What aspects of horror do you like/dislike? Where do you draw the line? For me, spooky games like Resident Evil 4, Alan Wake, and Control are my favorite games of all time, yet superficially similar games like Amnesia, Outlast, Soma, and the newly revealed Silent Hill games seemingly occupy a different place that's borderline my LEAST favorite genre. I think it has to do with spooky and creepy vs. existential horror and dread, campy vs. depressing stories, power curves, and whether you can safely confront your fears from the safety of your living room, blow up them up with a rocket launcher, and ride away on jet ski (or not). What do you guys think?
