Hey guys, I'm just really going to miss poopoo peepee time :(

Kevin From Cleveland

After speculating that Kratos or Atreus were going to die, how disappointed were you in the ending? As a father myself, I was touched by Kratos’ understanding that he needed the let his son walk his own path, but I wonder how the ending hit others who were looking for something more epic (for lack of a better word)

Jake Dye

Super disappointed that Surtr didn’t have any lines about us finishing his trials (canonically twice?) I finished all 15 Muspelheim Trials 20 minutes before meeting him, and he didn’t say a word?! Rude.

Rikimaru

Beyond growth, just seeing the amount of change in every character truly made this game something special. Sindri reacting to Brok's death the way he did. I really felt it and understood him. Freya and Angrboda taking their lives and choice into their own hands was amazing. Kratos admitting he was wrong and seeing a path for himself. Masterpiece.

krahezed

Unlocking the crater area in Vanaheim hit just right after completing the story mission to break out Freyr. By the time I reached that point, I had completed most of the side content available, so it was so refreshing to get a whole new, wholly optional zone filled with multiple quests, bosses, and even a little touch of levolution. I was less enthused about running through each of the realms to clean up one or two things each at that point, so having so much new content in one place was just what I needed to get me excited again.

BIG!!!!HERB!!!!!!

I can't believe a base PS4 could run the whole ragnorok sequence without catching fire.

Hello Everyone, unfortunately I’m probably not going to make it to the end in time so I’ll bring up something specific that I’m not sure if anyone mentioned. Does Atreus take the same amount of time to open Chests as Kratos? Because I timed it and they were both about 6 seconds. Just that Atreus’s animation looks longer but is in reality the same length of time.

Loved the game, I just have one question still nagging me. When going back to Vanaheim with Atreus, Kratos teaches his son "Ygros" which is humid in Greek, How do Atreus's language powers work? Is it because he is able to understand the written language on the mask, but not spoken word?

coshimitsu

Loved the game overall. One of the more frustrating fights was the the triple Berserkers in Alfheim (Svipdagr the Cold and the Sisters of Illska). How do you feel about how the game handles multiple enemy fights? If you're unable to keep all enemies within view, you have to rely on sound cues and the off-screen enemy indicator arrow to know when to dodge incoming attacks. Is there a better way for games to handle situations like this?

Jim Blubello

I was sad Sindri never forgave Kratos or Atreus at the end but I think it made him feel more authentic. He’s grieving pretty hard and it’ll take him a long time (if ever) to forgive

Daniel Farris

Finding all of Odin's ravens reveals some interesting and disturbing lore that is easily missed. From the eerie dialogue their spirits give in Niflheim it is revealed that they are the souls of children sacrificed to Odin by their own parents and turned into mystical spies by the Raven Keeper. Further solidifying Odin's desire for knowledge over anything and anyone.

Francisco

The part where it has you rub the controller to touch Fayes hand felt like a „too little, too late“ implementation of the dualsense 5 features. I would have liked it if more moments like that were sprinkled throughout the game. The PS5‘s controller is so cool and yet it seems like studios have a hard time using things like the touchpad, gyro, and haptic feedback in ways both novel and immersive?

jacob hubbard

I appreciate the couple of sequences with Sindri grieving for Brok, playing back into the theme of consequences for actions. However, was anyone else frustrated that they played it a little heavy handed in the final sequence? Odin clearly fooled EVERYONE, and Sindri's resentment was a huge damper on an otherwise exciting finale.

MrButtons

My favorite piece of dialogue is easily missable but really stuck with me. If you return to Atreus’ bedroom at Sindri’s home after beating the game, Kratos asks Mimir if he he did enough to prepare Atreus. Mimir naturally responds that if he survived Ragnarok he is ready to go out on his own. But then Kratos quietly says “not to survive, to love.” The two then have a brief conversation about love that ranges from hilarious to surprisingly sweet. It’s an excellent moment that further hammers home Kratos’ insecurities when it came to raising Atreus and the overall arc of Kratos trying to leave behind a life of violence.

Here are my most memorable moments for the whole game: - Getting resurrected by Thor on first boss fight - First Valkyrie fight coming out of nowhere and the sweet reveal that it was Freya - Turning into the wolf to race Angrbooa - Broke and Sindri getting commands to assist in battle with square - Finding the second lighting frozen in time and finding out it was created by a previous fight between Thor and God of Mom in the crater. WHAT! -Being pushed to BRUTALLY smash Heimdall’s into the ground. - First time seeing the Wall and the Asgard Village. So pretty! - The ending shot of the battle against the Valkyries when creating Ragnorak. What a shot. - and of course, every tender hug Kratos and Atrius shared :,)

Gooseberry

Question for the panel - was any part of you a bit disappointed that SM did not choose to go in the direction of pop culture or fan theories? Would you have wanted to get Mjolnir? Would you have wanted Kratos to die or see other parts of the Ragnorak prophesy come true? Would you have wanted to see Loki become the villainous trickster we know him as?

Michael Berube

Did any of you find all of the "Artifacts from Distant Lands"? It gave some interesting insight into where the series might go next. Mimir mentions that he would "REALLY" like to explore the Mayan culture if given the chance. I hope they go this route instead of the popular choice of Egypt. Egypt's recently gotten some love with Moon Knight and Assassin's Creed Origins, but I can't think of any major franchise that has explored Mesoamerican myths.

Frankie Roughknight

I just want to say that I loved the characters of Thrud & Sif. Sif always scared me away with her fierce beauty & antagonizing demeanor, & Thrud enthralled me with her ambition & outrageous manner. I was glad she was a friend to Atreus, because she seemed to complement him so well. Sif giving her blessing in the end was quite the blissful moment as well, especially them realizing what Atreus was doing was right in the end.

Leviathan765

Were you guys dissapointed with the last confrontation with Thor? The first fight he was knocking you across Midgard and wrecking landmarks and the last one was in a tiny little arena. They didn't even do the frozen lightning bolt!

Heurou

I have a slightly negative comment about this week. I generally didn’t love how the entire game we find out we followed a prophecy only to find out fate doesn’t exist ( even though they followed everything in a prophecy to a tee up until then) and then with the knowledge that date doesn’t exist nothing no longer matterd. I’m not upset with Kratos living It just feels weirdly unresolved that suddenly the stories of Kratos dying no longer mattered for me. Overall still love the game it’s great!

RedBeast

I think the eye tracking and eye movements during the cutscenes deserve special attention for making the performance capture really stand out. The tiny eye twitching back-and-forth or slight welling-up of tears really conveyed the characters' emotions in each scene. Don't believe me? Go back and watch 5 minutes of dialogue from the movie Polar Express and tell me those soulless dead eyes don't distract you from the message of the movie! Lip-smacking chef's kiss

Gatu

After the previous game teased Thor, I was looking forward to seeing what Ragnarok's "true" ending would be. I expected some bombastic hint at the next game's setting, but instead got Brok's funeral, which was an understated gutpunch. Sindri is still so clearly broken, and Mimir's heartbreaking solution to the riddle (which I had forgotten about until then) will stick with me like only the best game endings do.

SpaceTowel

What did ya'll think of the after credits sequence? Where Atreus wakes up and climbs the hill to find Kratos. I personally could have done without it. I would've rather found the characters out in the open world actually doing something, I think that would've felt more natural and fun. Kind of like how I stumbled upon Birgir taking care of Chaurli after I had rescued him. This was a fun surprise.

aaronisnotcool

I haven’t finished the game yet but i wanted to put down some thoughts: The moment where Fenrir is reborn was a beautiful moment between father and son.

aaronisnotcool

At the send of part 2 stopping point, it really felt midway through a Knives Out / White Lotus story where you have no ideas what is going to happen.

Jeorin

Brok is a national treasure. Best written character in the game. These two lines really stood out to me: (on Heimdall's death) 'Heimdall was a prize winning taint stain with a capital stank' (after Mimir's commenting on the Norns) 'The opinion of them three shut in spinsters ain't worth a goat fart in a hurricane' What a legend.

Jake Z

The cut from Atreus pushing Kratos through the portal to Atreus walking around talking with characters after Ragnarok felt super abrupt. If Atreus didn't go through the portal what happened between then and the scene after? Nothing? Bizarre

Gooseberry

What are your favorite secrets you have uncovered in the post game/ side questing? Mine had been hearing Freya imply that she wants Birgir to retire his big sword at her old house….. with Charlie!! I was so happy to hear our gud boi get a happy ending 🐢

Bryan Harris

I haven't finished the game yet but the fight with heimdall was amazing. I love how Kratos did his best to spare heimdall and equally love that by the end of the fight even I felt like heimdall left Kratos no choice. The man was absolutely relentless. And there was no way he was going to admit defeat....in any sense. Even in a scenario where there was a truce in that fight, he would have even more of a hatred and desire to do something nefarious

Nik

Best longest hug in a video game. Ok real comment, I believe this game does a great job showing family trauma between Odin and Kratos family. Odin using violence/talking down to raise Thor which used alcohol as escapism (best western style bar fight in a game) which he continued to use on raising Modi and Magni with violence. With Kratos where he learned the way he was raised as a Spartan and having an absentee father aka Zeus was probably not great. That is just scratching the surface on both of there family dynamics.

EX Sanchez

That sindri moment with atreus, after brok's death, hit hard for me. how did you guys feel after seeing that helpful funny dwarf just completely broken for the rest of the game?

RedMption

Mark me up as another one that is still to finish. But Hunting for Solace was something else. I hadn't though much about Sunny Suljic performance until now. It was good. but not anything i'd comment about. His and Adam J. Harrington performances in this chapter really had a emotional weight that landed differently from other games. I wonder if things would have felt differently if we continued to control Atreus after hunting the dear.

Charles Davis

If you had to guess - what direction will the franchise take next? My money is on a kart racer - God's of Racing Either that or a puzzle quest crossover

doubledave

I waited until I got Atreus back before I did the other Hafgufa quest. I think it would have been strange to do the quest with Freya as she had no real connection to what or why. Doing the quest just as we had gotten Atreus back felt great and the talks of what parents wants for their children just hit me right in the chest. You want to give your child the best conditions for survival even if the cost is the parents life. It’s hard for a teenager like Atreus to understand that, but I think he did sort of did in the end. As he would do anything to save his father.

I ain't a bloody squid

I was wondering how this game would be if it was a little more like Mass Effect 2. No trying to avoid Ragnarok and then suddenly here it is. Instead getting all the realms together to fight and actually fixing the elf problem. The climax just feels really rushed and I was disappointed with resolution of Thor and Odin. I was also hoping one of the realms would have a proper town full of civilization.

Joseph Stanichar

Is anyone else disappointed that there wasn't anything after completing the epilogue quest with the 10 Aesir wreckage things? I was expecting some cool post-credits teaser, but unless I'm missing something... nothing. But getting to free Tyr and see him hang out across the realms was cool.

aaronisnotcool

also last thing, again don’t know what happens, but does Heimdall look extremely Pantheon Greek in his garb, attitude, and speaking? It seems to stick out like a thumb.

Joe Dean

One of my favorite small things was the description for the quest when you're going to recruit Surtr. It's written by Kratos and it says "Surtr is a blacksmith, like the Dwarves... Dwarf. We search for a forge." It's a really small touch that gives some nice insight into how Kratos is also struggling a bit with Brok's death. How do you think they'll wrap up the giant souls/Sindri plot, DLC, A Lost Legacy style game, or the next full fledged sequel?

Dennis M.

Hanson, I hope you didn't give up on visiting Atreus's wolves Speki and Svanna. This time there WAS optional dialogue both times you had the chance to visit them with Atreus. The scene where he says goodbye to them was pretty sweet. And you learn that Svanna peed inside the house once.

Jonah Dieckhaus

My theory having not finished the game is that Kratos enters the green crack and survives, because of the reactions to him having survived in the light of Alfheim, sure he can handle it without being burning like Odin.

Bynoe

I'd like to highlight a piece of ambient dialogue that I thought was absolutely brilliant and sums up the combat in this game perfectly. Atreus says to Kratos: "Three legendary weapons... Do you have a favourite, Father?" To which Kratos replies: "No. They are tools. For specific tasks. A preference would be meaningless." Which I think is the perfect answer, and a mentality I strive to maintain as a player. Atreus then says: "I like the Axe." And Kratos replies: "I too like the Axe." And it's like, yeah, that is also a perfect answer.

Paul Celmer

I hoarded upgrade materials until the end of the game because I couldn’t commit to a set of armor, relics, enchantments, etc. What were your end game builds?

Edwin Jones

Firstly the writing in this game was immense. I really liked the through line on the riddle Brok gave Mimir. “What gets bigger the more you take away”. If you do the side quest for Broks funeral you get a poignant pay off for that.. After Sindri leaves without talking to Kratos. Mimir answers it with”A hole”.What was one of your favourite little line/ clever piece of writing.

GreenMountainState

I just finished the Heimdall fight but wanted to submit something as I likely won't finish in time. I thought for sure that Kratos wouldn't be the one to kill Heimdall and that's where the prophecy might start to diverge. I'm surprised this was the venue for the Heimdall encounter. It wasn't clear to me if he was just there guarding Freyr. Did you all expect that for the Heimdall showdown?

Andrew R. Palomo

I cried when fenrir died and I cried when atreus/loki brought him back. It was so great seeing him be this giant tame wolf.

Taylor

I was a little disappointed in the thor arc, it seemed to basic to just make him an alcoholic father after trying to make him the biggest badass in the Norse mythology.I loved the writing throughout the whole game but this was a weak point

Jordan Rubow

I just went through most of the game without realizing I can upgrade my runic attacks with XP by going into the weapon menu and then hitting R1 to select the upgrades on each runic attack. I’m nearly done with the game now and have had all my runic attacks on level 1 this whole time. I must have forgotten that tutorial amongst all the other menu tutorials from early on in the game. I think you guys mentioned this a bit in the last episode of deepest dive, but I do think all the random upgrade/crafting/menu clutter is my biggest complaint in this otherwise amazing game.

Derek Jackson

When you’ve thrown your axe away and go to a smithing station, if you select to change your axe, it flies into your hand and you feel it in the controller. Cool touch

Jordan Rubow

This game is so good that I was late picking up my son from daycare because I lost track of time while playing. Ironic?

Jordan Rubow

Last comment from me: just finished the game, and I loved it overall but the ending did leave me a little bit flat. Had some great moments but the big marvel style ragnarok fight was a bit too predictable, and things ended a little too cleanly and quickly. Besides Brok I didn’t have too many gut wrenching or overwhelming emptional moments in the final act, although the big Tyr plot twist was well done. The Thor/Odin final fights were good but a bit stock-standard boss fights by that point and I was hoping for something we haven’t seen before from them. And most of all, I wanted to see inside the green crack!!! What the heck is in there!?!
