In honor of Fuser, do you have any favorite games that you're not able to play anymore? Maybe they were taken offline or maybe they're just not fun without the right people and no one will plays it anymore.

Kyle Osborne

Hey Ben and crew I am writing this before the game awards but i am sure there will be some sort of dlc announcement my question is what is the best dlc you've ever played

H Densmore

After seeing press for the Mario movie begin to ramp up, do you think we'll be getting a Mario game announcement soon in order to promote a new game at the same time as the film? It feels surprising that we haven't already gotten one.

Happy Holiday my Horts! Since Batman got his name from being afraid of bats, what would your superhero name be?

Ben likes to rank games based on "how much passion juice" there is "in the room" for each game (judging from Two Tens Discussions of Yore). Since no one knows what that means -- or how to measure it -- I propose that fruit juice metaphors be discarded in favor of ranked choice voting. (Use ranked choice voting to get an initial list, then devote the on-air discussion time to refining and re-ordering that list.) What say ye?!?

Hello, MinnMax-otans I enjoyed, as always, the almost-end-of-the-year Best Game Music discussion. Iisten to soundtracks, all day, every day, while working, so it's fun to hear people get excited about this type of music. My spouse is always rolling her eyes at me when I come out of a movie or show or game and my first comment is, "That was a really great soundtrack." It goes without saying that the MinnMax discussion each year introduces me to at least an album or two that get moved into my playlist, even if I never have the time or interest for the games they came from. Keep doing God's work! Quick question, though: what kinds of sounds or music do you have going on while you are at work? My guess all y'all's work days look really different from one another. I'm sure music and especially podcasts would be really disruptive for video editing, for example, but maybe there are other tasks that leave your mind free enough to enjoy some good listening?

MinnMax is all about getting better right? How have video games made your life better? Do you have examples on how your life has improved?

Rigoberto Hernandez

Hi all, I just finished Mario + Rabbids and wanted to give it the praise it probably will not get during best-of-lists or award shows. What a fantastic game that is somehow better than the prequel. I never expected to love this game so much, especially since I was repulsed by the first game because the Rabbids looked annoying and I don't really like strategy games. I gave Kingdom Battle a chance when it was on sale and loved it. The sequel is even better and I even like the Rabbids now! What recent game repulsed you but you loved after giving it a chance?

wittynicknamehere .

I just finished Scorn this week, and I can't remember being torn on a game to this extent. The brilliantly opaque puzzles, grotesquely gorgeous Giger aesthetic, and liberal sprinkles of body horror were all top-shelf and I'm still thinking about them days later. But I'm ALSO still thinking about the absolutely dog-s*** combat shoehorned into the game, which is NEVER fun and ALWAYS cheap and unfair and infuriating. Much of which I had to do OVER AND OVER due to the game's miserable checkpoint system, where if the ninth Oswald-level acid spitting creature kills you, you get to fight ALL NINE OF THEM AGAIN! I came within a hair's breadth of quitting the game on several occasions. And yet I'm glad I soldiered on. I cannot think of a circumstance where I would EVER recommend Scorn to anyone. But I certainly do not regret playing through it. Do any of you have games like this?

Duderado

Greetings MinnMaxecutioners, What's a risqué TV show, movie, or game that you got "caught" playing by your parents? I once got caught watching the MTV show "Room Raiders" while one of the contestants raided an underwear drawer.

Big Jon

Hey everyone, Thanks for consistently delivering great content to our community. You are the best VG podcast around! This year has seen an incredible release of new and remastered RPGs and it doesn't look like it is slowing down anytime soon (Chained Echoes releases this week and Sea of Stars will be out soon as well). Furthermore, we've seen several games get the HD-2D remaster with Live-A-Live, Dragon Quest, and soon to be Suikoden. Am I crazy for thinking that Chrono Trigger, arguably the best RPG experience one can have, might be on the horizon? I don't want to jinx anything, but with Chrono Cross getting re-released and a wealth of 2D SNES games getting revitalized, it HAS to be soon, right?? Isn't it about time for Chrono Trigger to be released on the Switch? What other classic games are you hoping for a re-release or remaster that have eluded us until now?

WavingWorld

Howdy Computer Loving Cohorts! Ever since I was young I've had an internal hierarchy for the four card suites. From least to greatest the order is Spades, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds. I have no idea why I use this system or where it came from, but I JUST CAN'T STOP USING IT. Do you have any "rules" or "systems" in games that are just specific to you? Thanks! And keep up the good work. <3

Taylor Clark

Howdy gamers! If you could snap your fingers and we would not get a game reveal until 6 months before it comes out would you?

Kyle Bricker

Maybe you guys talked about this and I just missed it, but have you seen the video on IGN about a twitch streamer that beat Elden Ring as a level one character using a DDR dance pad? Her name is MissMikkaa and IGN did an interesting video interview showing how she got into challenge runs. It’s an interesting watch if you haven’t seen it: https://youtu.be/rgOrgpO4AQg For those that don’t know, challenge runs are game runs where you impose restrictions on your gameplay to challenge yourself and get more out of a game. Have any of you ever done a challenge run on a game before?

Mike Lynch

As a way for theaters to draw more movie-goers, would it be too chaotic to have replay in movie theaters? When a funny/ amazing moment happens, the crowd votes on whether or not to watch the moment again.

Nick from Atlanta

Hello MinnMax! Carrie-Anne Moss. Burt Reynolds. Keanu Reeves. At least half the cast of any Supermassive Games release. A lot of actors that have traditionally appeared in film or TV have made their way into video games, but has it been worth it? Have any actors known for their work outside of video games delivered a performance in a video game that you would consider in the Top 5 of their career? Top 10? The one I can think of first is potentially a cheat: Mark Hamill's Joker in the Arkham series. Thanks, Nick from Atlanta P.S. Sign up for Fantasy Critic! Hey MinnMaxers, Chained Echoes comes out on December 8th and I could not be more excited for it. What smaller games are coming out to close this year that you think should be getting more attention or being overshadowed by end of the year awards?

Jared Piers

Hey Minnmax! Just watched and really enjoyed DJ Leo's final fuser set. Hot take: music is really cool! If the game wasn't about to be delisted, what would be your dream DLC tracks?

Patrick Polk

Missed joke opportunity: Last episode, or really any episode, someone could have introduced themselves as "It's me, Mario" and done the entire episode in Chris Pratt's half hearted Mario voice. It probably would have been one of those jokes that's slightly funny at first, and then drags on a bit too long, but then loops back around to being funny again. Truly, a missed opportunity.

Ken H (Kenny2Slice)

Hey MinnMax, About 6 or so years ago, because I finally had the time and means, I began playing all the games I never had the chance to play or, in some cases, finish from my youth. The first game I did this with was Final Fantasy VIII, a game I had failed to get more than 10 hours into on 2 separate occasions before putting it down due to not enjoying it. I sought to finish it so I could actually give a genuine, thoughtful opinion on it. I find myself now also finally trying to complete Final Fantasy XIII, another game I disliked at release and couldn't bring myself to finish. We all return to games we enjoyed, but have any of you returned to games you did not enjoy and if so, why? For possible added controversy, FFVIII is still not good, but FFXIII is better than I remember.

Victor Pham

Was Kaiji Tang robbed of a best performance nod for Ichiba Kasuga during the 2020 Game Awards?

TheUnchartedWolf

Did anyone check out Lex Fridman's interview with Todd Howard. There were a lot of interesting insights from Todd including how he designs open worlds and some hints towards Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6.

Virgil B

Do you have a favorite game in a series or franchise that does not have your favorite story in that series/franchise? A lot of games I play have sequels, are sequels, or have ties to other games in the franchise. When I think of my favorites among them, I feel like my favorite games have my favorite stories. One example of the contrary I have would be Resident Evil 4, which is my favorite game in the Resident Evil series, but I think Resident Evil 2 has my favorite story.

Dave Yannetty

Do you have a meal or snack you really enjoy that you know you can’t or shouldn’t eat around other people? When a bag of tortilla chips gets to the point where it’s mostly crumbs, I like to finish it off by pouring hot sauce into the bag, shaking it up, and eating it with a spoon. One time my wife saw me doing this late at night. We’re divorced now. Not really. She was disappointed in me, though.

David Dubs

Hey Y'all, what console has the most satisfying power on button? God, I miss the 360's power button so much.

Patrick Hughes

Hello good MinnMax! In honor of Donkey Kong December, here's a little friendly kong-petition for you to enjoy. I'm going to name various Kongs from the Donkey Kong series. You guess if such are real or fake. Go bananas! 1 - Swanky Kong (Real - DKC3) 2 - Hunky Kong (Fake) 3 - Karate Kong (Real - DK Jungle Beat) 4 - Chunky Kong (Real - DK64) 5 - Cool Kong (Real - Mario vs DK series) 6 - Spunky Kong (Fake) 7 - Baby Kong (DKC animated series) 8 - Clunky Kong (Fake) 9 - Tooty Kong (Fake) 10 - Cyber Kong (Real - DK Barrel Blast)

Hey Crew, Do you think the game awards are just one big marketing event disguised as an award show? I feel that having a show right before Christmas is bound to boost sales and influence purchasing decisions. Also, can you reveal anything from behind the scenes about participating in the voting process? Love the show!

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey Minnmax, There are too many bow and arrow games

YARF

What is the best game to play around Christmas, and why is it Parasite Eve?

Fatt Mish

Hello all. What's the best spice? Love and appreciate the show! -Mars

Leif Dion

Why are horror games so much fun to play during Christmas?

Jason Wojnar

When was the last time you really got angry at a stranger or they got angry at you? I am talking to the point where you thought they were gonna throw fists or they thought you would start punching. It happened to me just a couple of weeks ago, but I promise I was justified.

Matthew Byerwalter

What is your most cherished holiday memory? For me it was "the reading of the letter". The "letter" was a typical, braggy Christmas letter received from a distant family member we didn't care for, and we'd have my cousin read the letter in a country accent and ad lib funny lines ripping on it. I'm realizing it sounds a bit mean written out, but we had our reasons for not caring and it really did bring us all together in a really funny, unifying way. Do you guys have any fun memories of the holidays that will always stick with you? Thanks for reading, and hope we get that holiday feast!

Styster

What game ate up the most of your time this year? Not necessarily the game that was your favorite, but what did you spend the most time playing? Do you ever find a disconnect between games you enjoy and games you play?

Marty

Do any of you have a personal/accidental catchphrase? For example, I find that I write "ah gotcha" all the time in texts and emails, to the point I feel predictable like a character show on a TV show.

Peter Gallagher

Hey CLCs, What game do you think has benefitted the most from streaming, YouTube Let’s Play’s, etc.? I am sure Fortnite and Imposters will be brought up here, but I think the best answer might actually be Minecraft? Excited to listen to your thoughts, thanks and let me be the first to say HAPPY HOLIDAY’s MINNMAX!

PoorAndCurly

Hey Minnmax, Just wanted to let everyone know Ben is a shooby. In California it's what we call someone who wears shoes on a beach.

Cath

Hey everyone! I have been addicted to marvel snap and it’s one of my first online experience with internet people (I’m not a multiplayer kinda person ) and 1/3 of the battle I end up winning because the people quit before they loose the game. What’s up with that? I thought in 2022 we had an étiquette that it was a super bad thing to do. Are people still that much sore loser? Over a silly game ? Help me understand please

Josie Ellender

Hey Crew! I’ve been playing God of War 2018 after watching all the Deepest Dives on the new game, and really enjoying it. I’m wondering if any of you will indulge in spoiling a game from time to time or if I’m just a little crazy? Follow-up for the bold, if you do spoil - has it helped or hindered your experience of the game following that. I watched all the cutscenes for Death Standing and recently having played it through without cutscenes it’s was great and so much lighter than it would have been otherwise.

HelloAndre!

Hello there! Day one listener, first time patreon supporter! Love what y’all do. The holidays are usually such a positive time of the year. But I’m feeling like a lil stinker. Lets get negative! -Whats the worst game you played this year? It didn’t have to come out this year, you just have to have played it this year. -Whats the worst soundtrack you heard all year? -Worst Movie? Now that we got all that negativity out, hope you all have a lovely positive holiday season.

Craig Rockey

I have a nomination for the Greatest Work of Art, 2022 Edition. It is a scene from Episode 2 of the FX/Hulu show "The Old Man", specifically, the dinner scene between Jeff Bridges and Amy Brenneman that takes place from ~34:00-40:00. As a person of a certain age I found the scene to be a wonderful introspection into how we view events in our lives - and our role in those events - and how that view can change. Not sure how the scene plays in a vacuum, but I found the scene to be both relatable and poignant and it was perfectly placed within the framework of building the characters early in the season. PS. Season 1 as a whole is solid, not great. It starts quite strong and then durdles around in it's last 1/3. I will watch Season 2 with the hopes that the writers find the voice that they had at the beginning of Season 1.

HelloAndre!

If you could rush a stage during an award show and grab the mic what would you say? 🙃

Kyle Silva

If you had a personalized license plate on your car, what would it say? Bear in mind the max limit of 7 characters.

WeGoGiant

Hey MinnMax. Do I recall correctly that recently on the podcast there was some confusion over what a hurdy gurdy is? Well, during the game awards when they performed Blood Upon The Snow from GoW Ragnarok, Bear McCreary was playing a hurdy gurdy on stage. You were caught up with the "who's Hozier" conversation at the time 😄

Onefootstout

Weird/disappointing that Xbox is suppose to be having a big 2023 yet outside of generic game pass commercials they were basically a no show at TGA

Myrrhman

Howdy! Congrats on being a part of this year's Game Awards Jury! Speaking of the awards, how do you feel about GoW and Elden Ring being separated into 'Action/Adventure' and 'RPG' categories? I would say both pretty cleanly overlap the same genre conventions. GoW (like most modern triple-A games) has RPG-style skill trees while Elden Ring has a traditional 'Action/Adventure' open-world (Ocarina of Time) style presentation, etc. Speaking of Zelda, if Elden Ring is considered an RPG, then shouldn't games like BoTW also get thrown in too? After all, you can chose to "level" different "stats" as you gain "XP." You even get to craft items and customize your build/loadout like in Elden Ring. Do you guys think the category should be used to give traditional (and often more niche) hardline c/w/jrpgs a chance to shine or are you okay with the current system as it is? I personally would prefer the former. After all, virtually all modern triple-A games feature a ton of RPG mechanics that blur the line between "genre RPG" and including basic systems just to be market-viable in 2022. Looking at this years nominations, games like Live A Live and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 never stood a chance...and I think that's sort of a shame for an event that's supposed to celebrate a wide array of gaming genres/cultures. I understand drawing that line cleanly is hard, but what do ya'll think?

Shimmy Neutron

Ello mates, wow holy molie my God pa was that TGA amazing. So many awesome games shown and reveals I lost my noodle a few times after Armored Core I couldn't breathr I was so hype. However after watching multiple reactions I notice a trend. Do people who YouTube about videogames even like videogames? So much snark and attitude about the show the presenters the award speeches the winners of the awards. Half my mind is understanding, we're passionate folks or have opinions, fair. The more animated half of me is like stfu and appreciate how awesome our industry can be. 2023 I believe will be our best gaming year ever. So much to look forward to. We should be celebrating or atleast neutral. What's the deal with the low key haterade? Are youtubers too jaded? I'm not an overly optimistic person but wow was the cynicism at a 10 last night for a great great show.
