Storing it here just so I remember to ask it next time y’all post a question poll: What are some of y’all’s favorite games that you never finished? An example being I LOVED final fantasy 15 and have super fond memories of it but I think I only ever made it about halfway through it before life got busy and I just never got back to it.

Hi all. What is the most you think you'd be willing to pay for 1 piece of DLC?

WeGoGiant

Hey MinnMax, Have you ever heard the phrase "UI blind?" After seeing the Wo Long user interface that JeffM and Janet mentioned having issues with, I think that was just a single poorly designed UI element that a lot of players probably have a hard time learning on the fly. However there are some gamers I know who seem to regularly miss User Interface instructions that are visible for literal hours right in front of them. One time a streamer told me he was "UI blind" and so I ask you: how common do you think this issue is? If there's some segment of the gaming population who are just always prone to missing UI elements, how could designers work around this? Can you think of any games that prevent this issue in a creative way? Thanks a bunch

Hi (Computer-loving) cohorts, First time asking question. Were there ever video game terms you did not understand for a long time? For me it was tank controls. Being a PC gamer since early 2000s and only getting a console in 2015, for the past 8 years I had no idea what anyone was talking about (even though I played through games with tank controls, e.g. RE1 2002). I still don't get where the name comes from, but at least I understand the term.

Hello! You folks ever carry your pet, baby, or other living being and pretend they're a camera/director? My cat loves to chill on my back and I'll try to see where his head is facing so I can give him a good angle of whatever he's interested in. There'll be times like when my partner is cooking and I'll dramatically move around so he'll get the shot he's looking for. Purs mean I'm doing good work while meows mean I'm missing the shot.

Mike Lynch

Has there ever been a video game developer or publisher that was run by the Mafia? It seems like , in the 70's-80's, one was on the rise, while the other was in decline and I've never heard of the two intersecting.

What's your honest opinion on people who refuse to dance?

Hi! I want to talk more about the Last of Us Show! I played the game 5+ years ago, and enjoyed watching the show immensely. Two thoughts after the finale. 1: When I finished the game, I was left with a feeling that it wasn't guaranteed that the doctor killing Ellie would automatically mean a vaccine for the world. My instinct was that I was saving Ellie from doctors with a theory.... But not a truth. I didn't get this feeling at all in the show. Was it just me when I played the game? 2: Since playing the game we have had a real world life epidemic in Covid. This made me more emotional while watching the show, than when I played the game 5+ years ago. What are your thoughts on it? Thanks for the lovely work you do!

Thom G

Hey Maxxers, Listened to the max spoilers of TLOU and I'm curious of what the other cohorts reactions are. I personally thought it was great and can't wait for more, I'm also with Ben in that I much prefer part 2.

Bryce Blackmore

Hi MinnMax, what movie/tv adaptation made you want to go back and play the game it was based on?

The Sleepy MailMan

Hey, MinnMax! Now that the dust has settled a bit, what was the better open-world game? Elden Ring or Breath Of The Wild, and why?

Victor Jesus Moreno

Hey gang With The Last of Us ending recently I've been seeing a lot of discussion on Joel's choice and the actions that came from it. Lots of discussion on how ruthless he acted in the ending. So my question is who the heck is Ruth?

Adam_CW

Do you think we’ll see aliens in our lifetimes?

Richard Hayes

Should the MinnMax Podcast run a game jam?

Sam Kennedy

Hey gang, What’s your favorite oddball launch title? I’m talking about one game that got way more attention than anyone expected it would because it launched with a system. For a recent example, I’d have to go with Snipperclips on the Switch. I found it to be super creative and a much better demo for the joy-cons than 1-2 Switch.

Cade Mead

Hey crew, I've had to fix my water heater three times in recent years, and troubleshoot the A/C once. I'm still afraid to tinker with failing game cartridges and gadgets, though. How much DIY fixing do you do? What's your specialty, and/or where do you draw the line?

McDoot

Long time viewer, first time caller. Lord of the Rings Gollum may turn out to be the most baffling choice of a character to base an entire spin off around, but what supporting character from any franchise would be even more baffling to see star in their own game/movie?

Spencer

Hi CLCs: Fair warning: this question may only apply to Ben, but I think listeners might find it interesting. With Elden Ring finally being the first From Software game you loved and finished, did it actually make you a fan of the Souls-like sub-genre, or even From Software's output at large, or did you just like Elden Ring? What are the chances that you return to a previous game or play a hypothetical Dark Souls IV? I had a similar experience with Bloodborne last year after trying and rejecting both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, but I felt like Bloodborne specifically addressed most of the things I didn't like about those games (the amount of RPG shenanigans and combat speed), so I don't necessarily feel I need to re-evaluate my opinions.

Brettmv87

Hey MinnMaxers, I just wanted to start by saying I'm a longtime fan of you guys and this is my first time ever writing in to something like this. I hope you like the game I have in mind and keep up the good work. I like to call this who has played more ? The rules are simple, I will give you a few of my favorite gaming IPs and you discuss amongst yourselves who has played the most entries in each franchise. The list goes as follows: 1. The Legend of Zelda 2. Resident Evil 3. Final Fantasy Have fun !

Frankie Roughknight

Hello, gentle folk! I recently got a promotion, & decided to start getting my dream tattoos that are video-game themed. First part done is Shiva from Final Fantasy VIII, & that feeling when people recognize what it is is intoxicating. Question is: I know tattoos aren't for everyone, but gun to your head, what video-game tattoo would you get?

SlyCut

Hello all, When the question was asked last week about how Dinosaurs were introduced to you, I immediately said that Dinosaurs VHS with Fred Savage. I need to write in and bring that to Ben's attention. Ben, I audibly cheered when you said the same thing, it made my day. That movie rocks, and I'm happy to know I'm not the only one who knows it. Here's a link to watch it if you're feeling nostalgic. https://youtu.be/CEF_Gzqx5wg My question is, when Exoprimal was revealed, the trailer was a huge fake out, making you think it was Dino Crisis. (You can't tell me they didn't notice the resemblance to Regina) Do you think Capcom will ever reboot/remake this series? Why or why not?

Brian Lyness

Hi-Diddily-Ho Ben & co, What game does each cohort think has the potential to be a dark horse for a high spot on their GOTY list in 2023? I played the demo of Sea Of Stars, its truly delightful & would be my own pick. Completely unrelated would there ever be a chance of an interview with Richard Leadbetter or John Linneman from Digital Foundry? Get on it Hanson!

Rikimaru

Hello! I have a very specific question or maybe a get a load of this pertaining to one Kyle Bosman. Have any of you heard about his community music album called Everybody Wins? He made a demo album last year based on all endings of an obscure PS1 game called Tail of the Sun. He recorded the demos live on Twitch and then handed them to the community to add on, remix, or reimagine altogether. He just kicked off this year's album and the theme will be "smuggling moonshine through the internet" however he and his community interprets that. I had never heard of a channel doing this, and it got me thinking, what would MinnMax's album theme be? And would you ever consider doing something like this?

Hieronymus Josh

If you could watch your own stream of a game from a time either before streaming was possible or before you were a streamer, what game or era would you find most interesting to watch yourself play and talk through?

KiwiTheGoo

You're low on ammo, your health bar has been buzzing in your ear for the last 5 encounters and you haven't saved in over an hour. What better feeling is there than when you find that perfectly situated save room, ammo dump, or health pack? None, I say! Metroid Prime, Resident Evil and Dark Souls all come to mind for this type of gameplay loop. What are your favorite examples of save rooms that seem to appear at the perfect time?

Clint Farley

Hey MinnMax crew, Have you ever been late to a game or franchise that had been hyped up only for it to just turn out 'okay/good' when you played it? I just finally played The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe and I gotta say it was just...fine. I didn't think it was a bad game by any means, and there are a few endings I thought were unique and fun, but overall it was just an okay experience. And it's disappointing because it had been hyped up a lot by folks, even here on MinnMax, and I was hoping it'd be a little more...involved than it was. And yes I did get all of the endings, to at least experience the whole thing.

Joe Kafchinski

Can we have a discussion about "pacing problems," please? It feels like the trendy criticism to level against movies, shows and games. You can go into almost any discussion about any media and someone will be there complaining about the pacing without explaining what they mean. Too long? Too short? Too fast? Too slow? Too much action? Not enough action? I'm not suggesting we ban the word, but I do think it needs additional context. Are there specific things that trigger the "pacing problems" criticism in your minds? What are the best and worst examples of pacing in your opinion?

Kevin Kuper

Hello Minnmax, I've been trying to complete games before I move on to the next one instead of playing several at the same time. However I just platinumed Sonic Frontiers and want to dive into Resident Evil 4 for the deepest dive, when you have time between reviews or work stuff how do you choose what to play knowing you won't be able to commit a lot of time to it? Thanks!

Chris Daykin

What has been the deepest dive you were happiest you did? Could be from the discussion you had, being "forced" to play a game you might not have normally, or whatever reason! P.S. Psychonauts 2 for next deepest dive as a pairing for celebration of Psych Odyssey!

Phelix Diaz

Seeing TLOU post credits behind the scenes content it always surprised me to hear Bella Ramsey and remember that she's British. Why do British actors seem to have more ease with American Accents, while American actors are not as great at British ones?

Joe Dean

I'm currently on the hunt for an apartment, and I'm trying to find a nice place based only on my income. I don't want a roommate so as a chance to challenge or confirm my choice what are some of your guys' memorable roommate stories?

Colton Westbrooks

Hello MinnMax crew, The demo talk last week reminded me of another feature that Official Xbox Magazine’s demo discs would sometimes include. The ability to download high level characters and endgame saves to your Xbox. The main one I always think of is Vice City, which was a late game save with everything unlocked to allow for mass mayhem. If you could just download a late game save or maxed out character for any game what would it be?

Patrick Hughes

Hello good lads and laddies of MinnMax. Since you aren't recording / airing this podcast until Friday, allow me to wish you a Happy St Patrick's Day! In the spirit of all things green, I propose the following question - Who is the best green character in video games, aka the Green Supreme? In March Madness fashion, I have randomly determined your top candidates in the below bracket to face-off: Round 1: Frog (Chrono Trigger) vs Luigi (Mario) Round 2: Link (Zelda) vs Slippy (Star Fox) Round 3: Creeper (Minecraft) vs Master Chief (Halo) Round 4: Bulbasaur (Pokemon) vs Yoshi (Mario) Semi-Finals: Round 1 winner vs Round 2 winner Round 3 winner vs Round 4 winner Finals: The two winners from above

With all the talk recently of ai algorithms, do you think we are headed towards a future where ai like chatgpt can be used in aaa games to simulate conversations with NPCs?

Hi fellow gamers. Great show so far... We often talk about which games have sold the most, but do we know which games have made the most money? Is it something like Fortnite or Grand Theft Auto with its online or maybe an MMO? What do you all think? Is it a top selling multi platform game or maybe something international? A mobile property? Thanks for the good stuff. -Mars from Minnesota

I recently completed Control on PS5 and wow, this game blew me away. Considering it came out in 2021, can I put this game in my top 10 for 2023? *Seinfeld Voice* What are the rules?! Tell me the rules!! (For real though, someone come up with some rules already)

James Gameboy

Did any of the Playdate havers get a chance to check out Catalog? Carve Jr. is the snowboarding followup to Whitewater Wipeout from season 1, and Eyeland was actually made in the free browser based dev tool, Pulp, and the environment art is STUNNING. Those are the only ones I've played so far, but there's also a couple freebies. Love to hear Playdate thoughts, as always!

Hey gamers! I recently had my banking information stolen, and as I perused the many, many hundreds, nay, THOUSANDS of dollars in fraudulent expenses (it was just a few hundred bucks and the bank gave it back, please don’t worry), I see that my new fraudulent friends visited a fine “pizzeria” establishment called Toppers, located in Minnesota! My mind is at ease, because it seems at least some of my money went to a good cause! Pizza is my favorite food! But I do have to ask, what caliber pizza are we talkin here? Break it to me softly please.

RynaGoGo

Hey Ben and the League Of Extraordinary Cohortz! I forgot to write in on Tuesday. So I’m posting this question right before the wire on Wednesday. I wonder if you read down this far. My question this week is, what’s the deal with split ends? My wife insists that she needs a haircut so she can grow out her hair. What freak came up with this scam? Just grow it out and THEN cut off the bad ends. Or let it split all the way and now you have double hair!

Ollie Clay

Hey gang, I'm young (humble brag) so I've been messing around with all the Nintendo Switch Online systems to try and build up my gaming historical knowledge. I'm going to be bold and say most GBA/Gamecube onward games hold up pretty well, whereas in the generations previous there are just a few diamonds in the rough. Do you think that this shows that in the past 20 years innovation has been lacking compared to the previous 20, as many early 2000s games align with 2023 sensibilities? Thanks for all the times I've had to hide my laughter in public to not look like an idiot!

Kaizoku Risu

Are there any game franchises you are a big fan of but don’t actually like playing that much? One example for me is Splatoon. I love the style, aesthetic, music, and character design of the Splatoon games, but don’t really enjoy the competitive multiplayer gameplay. Despite that I still collect Splatoon merch such as t-shirts, plushes, bento boxes, Amiibo and more!

Spencer P

Hey all, What are your thoughts on live service games that start, well, bad, and then redeem themselves over time. Examples I can think of are Fallout 76 and Rainbow Six Siege for example. I know some gamers hold a grudge for the bad release but do you think people should put aside their past negative views if it has turned around or should it still hold as a dark mark on it still?

James Pinto

Howdy, My question is how do you measure nostalgia? At what point are you able to become nostalgic for something. I experienced this over the weekend when replaying Prey (2017). Playing through Deathloop, I enjoyed it but it was missing something I've grown to love from Arkane but it's not something I can define. Thanks everyone!

Vilis

Minnmax, I have to say I was deeply puzzled by beloved and renowned Naoki Yoshida's remarks about not wanting to be categorized as a JRPG. I admit it does make a title seem niche, but it is a niche category: really only a handful of games are in this subgenre of premium entertainment, each one a star which would make the King of All Cosmos proud. So when Yoshi-P says he doesn't want Final Fantasy XVI to be thought of as Japanese Roll Playing Game, like the illustrious Katamari Damacy, I can understand entirely but am not sure why he thought people would apply that lable- Hold on.... I'm being told I am incorrect on what a JRPG is and I am very confused why anyone would confuse FFXVI with a Japanese Rocket Propelled Grenade, though it does sound a little like F-16 which is- I'm being told I was incorrect again.... And you're sure he isn't talking about Jamaican Rum, Pineapple, and Grenadine? Definitely Japanese ROLE-Playing Game? I mean that seems entirely reasonable on his part.... You think I wasted everyone's time with this? I think you'll find I wasted MY Time with this, thank you very much! I don't have to take this! I'll just hold L1 & R1 to escape this situation! Why aren't I moving?!

Michael Tucker

Hey all, How long are you willing to give a game to hook you before dropping it? An hour? Six hours? Does it vary by the genre of game you're playing ? Sorry if you've touched on this before. Cheers .

Luciano Comassetto

Not a question but a while back Ben mentioned he wanted to get into birding. There is an app called Merlin (it has a bird as the logo). It picks up the ambient noise around you and identifies birds by their calls. My girlfriend and I found it to be a great way to learn a little about the birds around us while walking the dog.

Reagan Coleman

Hello Ben, Leo, Jacob, and Haley! I think this question may be just for Ben as I don't think anyone else is playing "A Space for the Unbound". I am absolutely loving this game but I have made it into chapter 4 and I am getting completely lost as to who hss what problem in which alternate reality. For example, I might find a soccer ball in one reality but don't know where (which other reality) to go back to in order to use it. I know the person who needs it, but, which reality are they in? Did you have a method for keeping up with each person's problem and where they were (which reality) when you thought you had the solution? Is there something in-gsme I'm missing to help with this? Maybe it's just because I'm old and my memory is poop! Any help for this old geezer would be much appreciated!

John

The lego streams have been great, the lego island music was hitting me with nostalgia and undeniably enhanced the experience. What music is guaranteed to take you back and makes the most sense as background music to enhance your life’s documentary?
