A lot of great fighting games have released in since the genre's revival with Street Fighter IV. But until Street Fighter 6, the only ones to receive over a 90 on Metacritic were Smash 4 and Ultimate. What do you think separates these games from the pack and makes them stand tall in the genre?

Do you think cats get embarrassed when you walk in on them using the litter box?

Hi MinnMax Gang! I got fired from my lifeless corporate job today -- it's both a blessing and a curse. Now I have the freetime to focus on my YouTube channel, but now I don't have insurance. Yipee! Since you're all successful internet folk, I wanted to get your advice on how to move towards entertainment as a career, as volatile as it can be. With games media and the YouTube landscape already being as saturated as it is, how would you recommend someone stand out or get more involved? Nowadays, entertainment seems to be more grassroots than ever as writers go on strike to combat AI, and networks are axing games media outlets (Game Informer, WayPoint, Giant Bomb, etc.). Hurray! I'm fully aware an ungodly amount of luck is involved, but there has to be something concrete people like me can do, right? I can't go back to another boring desk job, and I think a lot of other people feel the same way. Thank you all for making stuff, it in turn makes my day.

Hey MinnMax, is this shaping up to be one of the best years in gaming? Street Fighter 6 and Diablo 4 have just been added to the list of critical hits and FF16 is just around the corner. If the second half of the year is as good as the first then I think it may take the top spot.

Last week someone wrote in asking "how do singers not cry when they sing"- I'm not a professional, but I did just sing and play guitar with my brother at my sister's wedding. I was crying all the way through the ceremony and during every single other speech and performance, but made it through all 4 minutes of the Lee Ann Womack classic "I Hope You Dance" without an issue. The answer is that I almost completely dissociated while playing, did not make eye contact with anyone, and stared directly at my note card with the chords written on it the entire time. I didn't even know how it sounded until I watched a video after. I cried as soon as I was done. Hope this helps!

I just want to shout out y’all. I watch 4 stream with MinnMax host (on this channel and their private) and you raves about another cohost on how amazing they are or how you really appreciate their work. I just love when people lift each other up instead of trying to push other down for their own merit. Thank you for making the world a little bit kinder one stream at a time! P.s now give each other one compliment !

Hey Minnmax crew! I recently beat Jedi: Survivor and there was a surprise boss that sunsets the end of the second act. I found this this to be a very ineffective cameo. Am I crazy to feel this way or did particular appearance work for everyone?

Stevelution

Hey MinnMax, with the reviews tumbling in already for Diablo and Street Fighter and glowing with praise, with all the non Zelda fans building the weird Hyrule mech of their dreams in TOTK, it got me thinking: what notable game pulled you into a series or franchise you had, to that point, not got on board with? For me, recently, it was Return To Monkey Island and point and click adventures.

thejjuan1

Hello minnmax crew After the recent news on the Last of Us multiplayer game. Are you worried about Sony's decision on to the live service route for their games? Because it scares the shit out of me. Lol

Joseph Stanichar

Hey folks! So a friend of the show is someone who's appeared on the show before (to my understanding), but what would it take for someone to become an enemy of the show?

TroytlePower (TPPTPPTPwTP)

You've been put in charge of the break room for an office full of folks. What do you make sure is always stocked there to keep your coworkers happy? Surprise twist bonus question: Do you have that thing stocked in your own home right now? Why or why not?

Dusty Beaman

Heya Benjamin and the Minnmaxers! What is your favorite word with 2 "n"s in it? It must be one word but the "n"s do not have to be next to each other in the word. It must have exactly 2 "n"s only. Also, names, do not count and, obviously, "Minnmax" does not count. Looking forward to your choices!

Howdy all! I’m super excited to get into Street Fighter 6. I’m not bad at fighting games, but not great. Before playing SF6, I’ve decided I’m going to go all in on Dhalsim. I always hated playing as him AND against him. I find him slow and annoying, and Yoga, Yoga, Yoga! But in the quest to become a better player and understand the game deeper, I’m going Dhals to the walls. What’s a game, or game character you’ve forced yourself play in order to understand it better? PS: Congrats on the baby Ben! Don’t stress about it too much. They are super resilient and it’s not as complicated as people make it out to be. The only thing that can mess them up permanently is a bad father! ❤️

Hey friends, Okay, I think it's time base model controllers for consoles start including additional buttons. While spending time playing TotK, it has become clear that the amount of actions this game wants you to perform do not correspond very well with the amount of buttons available to you. Additonal back buttons have already been incorporated on third-party and pro/elite model controllers, so it shouldn't be an issue. Not only will this allow players to have more flexibility with the use of a controller, but also could push innovation with game mechanics. Hopefully, this is a consideration for next gen. Do you guys agree? Thanks, Dan

Hello MinnMax crew! Should we start being concerned about publishers manipulating review scores? From Loot Boxes being added weeks after launch to skew reviews upwards to the recent erasure of Save files on Diablo IV that prevented most reviewers from gauging the quality of the Endgame (a key component for many Diablo fans) it seems we are facing more and more shady attempts to get away with a great critics score tied to a subpar game.

Kyle Silva

Is the term “I want to cover all my bases” seen more to you as a military analogy (military bases) or a baseball analogy (1st base, 2nd base)?

Luis Pérez

Howdy Cohorts! Agatha Christie has a quote I love - Never go back to a place where you have been happy. For me, this happens a lot with food! What's something you used to love but now can't stand? Conversely, is there some snack you used to hate but now love? Personally, I used to hate licorice, but now love it; I used to love octopus, but now sadly can't stand it. All the best, Luis

Joe Kafchinski

Do I even need to call out this missed joke? When Sarah was describing the Updog dog toy and just plowed completely through Ben's "what's updog?" while Jacob and Leo stared straight ahead, the look that flashed across Ben's face could've melted diamonds. Thank you for providing the first good updog content in a decade.

Sam Morrow

Hello crew. I recently downloaded Legend of Dragoon on PS Plus and began to replay it. When I was growing up, I used to hold this game in high regards, putting it up there with Final Fantasies as the best RPG on the PlayStation. Now, halfway through the game, I can definitely say: I was completely wrong. This game was better left in my memories, and replaying it has made me see flaws in the game that I never had before. What games have you replayed that not only didn’t hold up, but also soured your overall opinion of a previous loved game?

Tanner Hoisington

What's your GotY pick that got snubbed that still haunts you to this day? I have a feeling Jason might have a few.

Allistair

Hi MinnMax, I was looking at E3 2003 coverage and found it funny that in Gamespy's old coverage they hyped up the Lord of the Rings MMO, some canceled Level-5 MMO, but found the World of Warcraft MMO to be dull and didn't even place in their top 25 most wanted. Made me wonder: What E3 previews you got the most wrong once released, whether being way better or way worse than you expected?

Tonytheswordsman

Yo shoutout to the fight scientist in the house! (And everyone else) I just moved in with my girlfriend, any tips, tricks or something to keep me off the couch? Haha

Hey Ben and the Max Minnows, I have a game for you. In order to prepare Ben for interacting with children, MinnMax has decided to start a summer camp. After starting a children’s show a few weeks ago, a summer camp is the next logical decision. In order to help you run your summer camp, you must choose between video game characters to fill out different roles at the camp. You don’t have enough funds to hire both options. - Juz10 1. We need a Camp director to make sure things run smoothly, who do we hire? Byleth (Fire Emblem 3 Houses) or Commander Shepard (Mass Effect) 2. Who will drive the bus to bring the kids to camp? Pam (Stardew Valley) or Kapp’n (Animal Crossing City Folk) 3. Who will be the Camp Cook? Cooking Mama or Toriel (Undertale) 4. Who will be the Camp Doctor? Mercy (Overwatch) or Doctor Mario and Nurse Peach 5. Who will act as the Lifeguard/swimming instructor? Ecco the Dolphin or Blastoise (Pokemon) 6. Who will teach music and lead the singing around the campfire? KK slider (Animal Crossing) or Kass (Breath of the Wild) 7. Who will be the Hiking leader and take the kids out on trips through the woods? Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn) or Naked Snake (Metal Gear Solid 3) 8. Who will be the supervisor of the Boy’s Cabin? We need someone who can ensure they behave and stay out of trouble. Ryu (Street Fighter) or Barret (Final Fantasy 7) 9. Who will supervise the Girl’s Cabin? We need someone familiar with fear that can comfort the girls who may be scared of bugs, bears, or the dark. Ashley (Resident Evil 4) or Ellie (Last of Us 2)

Is anyone else sick of treasure chests in games? I'm currently playing Crisis Core Reunion and nothing takes me out of the world more than random chests stuffed with even more random loot. Can the panel think of any examples where loot drops are more organically integrated into the world?

Greg Varney

Hi cohorts. The recent announcement of the Metal Gear 3 remake struck me as the first time I’ve been glad a developer is remaking a game rather than creating something new entirely. Are there any other remakes where you’re happier the developer remade a game than creating something completely new?

Dustin Davis

Hey cohorts, do you prefer the sound or melody of music overall, or lyrics? Are there any songs or artists that you love the sound of, but don't care for the lyrics?

HoneyBoy

sup everyone, my question is for Suriel, do you believe this new street fighter captures the vibe and energy that street fighter 3rd strike captured? the reason I ask this is because i remember you writing an article for GI and you put 3rd strike on top of the list. do those rankings still stand today? keep up the great work! (everyone) (please feel free to paraphrase my question)

nayroshi

what's your least favorite thing about your favorite game, and/or your favorite thing about your least favorite game?

Marc

Greetings MinnMaxers. How is Elden Ring so good? Since playing Elden Ring last year I have been searching for that feeling of adventure and discovery like a depressed drug addict. Tears of the Kingdom is really close but just not hitting the same highs for me. Will I ever get that feeling again?

Fatt Mish

Hi CLCs! Great show, like always. With the summer game announcement season underway, I'm really looking forward to new game announcements. I've been thinking about indie games a lot and was wondering if any of you would be interested in a subscription pass for something like itchio or even a "Devolver Digital Pass". Although subscriptions are starting to play out, I think I'd really appreciate a $5 pass for a bunch of indie games. What say you?

John

Lego 2K drive is gross…but I also love building a crazy car and blasting around the world map with it. Underneath there are so many things that point to the devs caring about the game and the amazing things about the previous lego car titles (racers, racers 2, even lego indiana jones 2). But did they have to make it “pay to build” with certain key bricks locked behind a paywall.

Crayter

Why do I STILL feel resentment about camp snoopy becoming nickelodeon universe? I never cared THAT much about the peanuts IP, and I watched tons and tons of nick as a kid, so I should be fine with it, especially after all these years. Is this just me being an old man shaking my fist at a cloud? Any other minnesotans join me in the weird irrational anger? (To be clear, I don't care that much, but I do catch myself being a bit miffed about it when it comes up)

Patrick Hughes

Hello good folks of MinnMax! So Sony essentially revealed what is a Wii-U gamepad for the PS5 with Project Q, except without the actual dual screen capabilities and a reliant need of an internet connection. Do we dare admit that the Wii-U was actually a cool console just with a bad name that failed to hit its full potential? Would you be interested in the return of a two-screen system if it revitalized the likes of a second screen for inventory management, maps, and interesting asymmetric gameplay experiences?

Derek Achoy

I kind of like bad voice acting. Maybe it's just nostalgia for the PS1/PS2 era I associate it with, but I think there's also just an endearing campiness about it sometimes. Is this unhealthy?

Frankie Roughknight

Good day, cohorts. I’ve been playing Tears of the Kingdom for about 50 hours now, & I honestly think it’s approaching to become the best game I’ve ever played. Trying to not be hyperbolic, I settled myself on considering it for my top 5 of all time once I beat it. My favorite games on that list are formative games that have shaped me overall, such as Silent Hill 2 or Mega Man Legends (which Tears of the Kingdom kind of reminds me of). My question is: for a lifelong gamer, do you think that a great gaming experience can surpass one that made you fall in love with video games in the first place?

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! Ben, as a fellow fan of Mary Tyler Moore, I'd love to get your brief thoughts on the "Being Mary Tyler Moore" documentary on Max.

BEEFCAKE

What’s your desert island movie?

Ian Switaj

Hello! While not limited to fighting games, fighting games like Street Fighter in general are notorious for having iterative version releases with each subsequent release which comprise of all of the DLC up to that point. In such cases are you the type of person that buys the vanilla version immediately on release and purchase the DLC/season passes as they come out or would you wait several years for the "Ultimate Championship Tatsumaki Senpukyaku" edition to release that includes all of the DLC on disc (or as a downloadable code)?

Vilis

Greetings Fellow Cohorts. Were you aware that now with the DLC of Forspoken being out, one of the updates they did makes it so the flying cats you collect constantly hovers and accompanies and helps you sometimes collect items? Does the notion of a flying cat companion change anyone's desire to play the game? Yes, it does occassionally meow and will confuse your cat. There are an insane amount of flying cats in this game.

DrClayman

Hi team. Street Fighter 6 reviews are out and, currently, it's one of the very best reviewed games of the year. What are the chances of seeing SF6 being nominated or, dare I say, win the GOTY award, as opposed to being relegated solely to the Best Fighting Game category as usual? Since The Game Awards' inception, the only fighting game to make an appearance in that category (or any other category than Best Fighting Game I think) is Smash. I could see Mortal Kombat being nominated for best storytelling, or Guilty Gear for graphics/art direction or music for example, but traditional fighting games have so far only competed with themselves. Why do you think that is?

Bob Buel

Settle the debate - best cut/style of French fries?

John Lee

Salutations, CLCs. How have the last 5 years changed the way you view and evaluate games?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, Speed-running is a weird term right? Outside of gaming it must sound really peculiar, no one says “this weekend I’m going far-hiking and might wet-swim”.

Virgil B

I think landing a critical hit from across the map is the best feeling thing to do in an FPS. What is the fighting game equivalent to landing a nice shot in an FPS? For me, I’ll never get tired of anti airing a jump in with an uppercut. It’s the epitome of practice makes perfect. It also feels bad when someone does it to me. But the respect for them pulling it off is always there, eventually.

Cody Allison

Street fighter has been around for a long time and never has had a wacky spin off. What kind of game would you want to take these mighty fighters and put them out of their normal street fighting element. Personally, I'd opt for a Mario party-esque game. Building on the car smash bonus stage from street fighter 2 I think there could be lots of fun making these big hulking play a silly board game.

Kiki

Hey Ben, I will miss you when you're gone on maternity leave. Will you miss me?

Sweet Karoline

Heya Hanson and the gang. Is there no one on the show that likes Star Trek?? Star Trek Resurgence just came out and it's the best Star Trek game in years!! Granted that's not saying a lot but there ya go! So are any of you guys Science Fiction fans besides Star Wars?? Thanks for reading!
