FYI: We're recoding a live episode of The MinnMax Show on YouTube at 4pm Central after the big Summer Game Fest stream on Thursday, so it won't be available early in the bonus podcast feed or for Backstage Pass supporters.

This week for community questions on the podcast, we'll have Ben Hanson, Kyle Hilliard, Jeff Marchiafava, and community manager Haley MacLean. Well Howdy there Cohorts. I was watching a streamer recently (Strippin is his moniker) streaming with some other guys and he remarked that someone on a horse just rode past his house. It reminded me of how Janet sometimes has a Mexican fruit vendor blast it's song in the background of her videos and was wondering if there were any aspects of daily life which are just out of frame or going on outside your house while recording that might surprise viewers...RIGHT NOW!!! (Alternatively if you can think of something wild that happened while you were live or recording which might be fun to share, that works too)

Hello all, With Sony having said they're leaning more into live service games, if you had to choose one live service game to play for at least five hours a week for the rest of your life, which would it be? This assumes the game would be live and supported the entire time and you can choose any live service game, living, dead, or not yet released I would choose the third-person MOBA, Smite.

Hi Friends! Following the not-so-secret revealing of Apple's new Vision Pro headset, why are major tech companies still trying to remove the physical controller from the equation? Sure I understand the idea of bigger markets and less of a learning curve, but us gamers have already been through this *cough* Kinect *cough* and it doesn't catch on. Even Apple in all their wisdom use PS5 controllers in their ads when marketing the iPhone as a gaming device. So my main question is -what gives? If you could sit down with Tim Cook and shake him while loudly shouting something into his multi-billion dollar head, what would you say?

In the latest episode of Deepest Dive of TOTK, Ben said the fight music wasn’t so hot in the game. What games do ya’ll think did do a good job with fight music? One of my favs is Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!’s fight music. You have to hear that song a lot, so it not getting tiresome is pretty impressive.

Hi everyone! I started listening to Minnmax after Ben's appearance on the excellent Backpage pod produced here across the pond by two traditonal games media veterans. It got me thinking, how much do you guys follow games journalism from other countries? And if you do, have you noticed any interesting takes unique to other cultures/geographical locations? For example, Alien Isolation was famously much better received in Europe, there is far more nostalgia for Sega systems over here etc. Or do you have any interesting stories about encountering game journalists from other countries at events/studio visits? I'd be fascinated to hear your thoughts!

Hello all. My question last week got overlooked so I have reworked it, and hopefully you like it better. What is your favorite game with 2 "n"s in it? The game must have exactly 2 "n"s in its full title but they do not have to be next to each other. For instance: Horizon Forbidden West counts because there are 2 "n"s in it (even though they aren't next to each other). Sorry Ben, I know how much you love Horizon so I might have taken yours. It would be cool if small gaming outlets created their own network or coop of sorts, not chasing the G4 format or anything, but kind of like what Linus Tech Tips is doing with Floatplane (it's basically their own mini youtube) or Nebula. Is this pointless because it would cause more problems then positives? it's great to use patreon, youtube and discord for the business side of things, but then you leave literally everything about your business in their hands...

Hi, MinnMax! With Metal Gear’s resurgence on the way, it’s an exciting but worrying prospect what with Konami’s intentions and Kojima’s absence. I’m not one to entirely think Kojima’s presence is paramount to carry a vision for Metal Gear (as much as I love the series) but do you guys think it should be left alone and just be ported if it’s not going to get a more respectful and loving remake? I’m also worried about any cuts and alterations to the ports due to licensed material. If I can’t hear Naked Snake dork out about his custom M1911A1 they can keep it.

Hey cohorts! What do y’all make of Blaseball as a whole now that it’s over? They maintained the game for free for something like 20+ seasons (though reportedly at an unsustainable pace), then put it on pause when they received funding to rework their process and keep it sustainable. It was offline for maybe close to a year, came back briefly without many of the promised features, then after another (unscheduled) several month pause finally shut down for good and laid off several people last week. Even if it had come back, they had lost so much momentum from being offline for so long I wonder if it ever could have reached the same heights. What can we learn from the Blaseball phenomenon and its aftermath?

When did you start drinking coffee? I started drinking coffee when I started working and had to get up early in the morning. As a kid, my parents told me drinking coffee would stop me from growing! So maybe it was combination of early work life and when I stopped growing in height is when I decided it was time for coffee.

Howdy Cohorts, I've recently been playing the 2020 game No Straight Roads since it's about to leave PS Plus, and wowza would I have liked this game a lot more if I hadn't played Hi-fi Rush earlier this year. Is it unfair to criticize a game for being an unfulfilled version of a premise that (with hindsight) we now know is possible to do right? Have y'all have any experiences like this with older games having all the wind sucked out of them by games that either iterated on or were inspired by the older titles because it always makes me feel like a crappy opinion-haver and I was curious. Hey Everyone! Your recent interview with Patrick Klepek and discussion of the intersection of parenting and gaming got me thinking about my own parents and their role in my life with games. I always got new games and consoles growing up which I am incredibly grateful for, but I can’t help but wish my parents actually showed more of an interest in the hobby itself, whether playing themselves or alongside me. So I’m curious, what were your parent/gaming dynamics like growing up? Anybody have parents who shared the interest, or have thoughts on the role they could play in their own child’s life with video games?

On this weeks Fire Escape podcast, someone wrote in and asked what games they enjoy watching other people play, but they don’t actually like playing themselves and do you ever have trouble figuring out the difference between if it’s a bad game or a good game that just isn’t for you? Me personally, I don’t really get anything out of SoulsBorne games, they feel kinda hallow and I just don’t care for the combat BUT THAT’S JUST ME! Should video games with a lot of driving adopt a more realistic approach like this? Like a buttons that switches from drive to park. Hey there MinnMax, Do you have other non-gaming hobbies, experiences, or things you've only ever tried because of a video game? I have a few examples to share. I tried sushi at a young age only because of the lickitung mini-game in pokemon stadium. the idea of raw fish sounded gross before then, but now its a favorite of mine when dining out. rock band taught me enough about the basics of drumming I actually learned and played drums with a few bands for many years.
