Y’all mess with luffas?

In light of the Uncharted 2/Mission Impossible similarities, what video game do you think has inspired the most movies?

Shakenbake67

Hey Minnmaxers, we are a little more than half way thru Ben’s paternity leave. My question for you is, how many hours of podcasts has Ben’s baby listened too by proxy of being Ben’s child? Do you think Ben’s kid has a take on content yet? Keep up the good work it’s been great!

SlyCut

Hello all, A simple(?) question this time; is water indestructible?

whitemex

Hey there 'horts! Do you think you've written down every date from the calendar? Like on homework or a word document.

MakeItUnclear

Between TotK and Hi-Fi Rush, it's been a big year for guys who are granted robotic right arms with mysterious powers - the powers of levitation and creation for Link, and the power of rock n roll for Chai. Suppose some inciting incident gave you a brand new robot arm - what are its powers, and what adventures are you using it for?

Ben Shively

How do you guys feel about gaming tattoos? Do any of you have any? I just got two on my forearms (Resident Evil 4 and Bloodborne).

Pelicanman

People often talk about games that they came to love after initially bouncing off of them, but I’m curious about the opposite: What’s a game you started out loving, but ended up hating (or at least disliking)?

Aaron Hurd

Thoughts on the recent shake-ups at Xbox, with Xbox Live ending (RIP) in favor of “Game Pass Core” and the price increases we’re seeing? Personally I love my Xbox but the price increase prompted me to downgrade to just Game Pass Console instead of Ultimate, since I don’t really play online multiplayer anyway

Ampex

Missed joke opportunity! Nevermind, it seems that Reeves actually got every single one last week. You're good to go!

Blazingscourge

What Square Enix character would you like to see make an appearance in Kingdom Hearts? Currently we have characters from FFVI through FFX-2, The World Ends With You, and a ship from Einhander.

Caleb Ward

Does games media do a good enough job of critically reading and addressing social issues (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc) in games? How can this improve?

RabidLime

coffee or tea? if tea, what kind? if coffee, why isn't your answer tea, you monster?

Jordan Seefeldt

Hi MinnMaxers! I bought a Switch last fall and since I got it so late, I had a ton of great games available right away. Within the first few months I owned it, I bought Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Metroid Dread, and Hades. Is there a time that you've felt you benefited from buying a console late in its life cycle, due to a larger game library, technical/bug improvements, or any other reason?

Jason Wojnar

Rate this joke I wrote on a scale of 1 to 10 "Little known fact; Frank Sinatra was an objectaphiliac, or someone who is intensely attracted to inanimate objects. You can even hear this in the song Fly me to the Moon 'Fill my heart with song and let me sing for ever more, you are all I long for, all I worship, and a door'."

Travis in Fargo

What modern band or singer deserves their own video game, a la Revolution X?

SuperMediocreMan

Yo MinnMax, I always thought that the official name for the Wii was the “Nintendo Wii”, just like the Nintendo DS or the Nintendo GameCube, but I looked on a History of Nintendo page on their site. It is just “Wii”. I even watched the 2005 Nintendo E3 press conference. Sure enough, the presenters only ever refer to their new motion-control console as the “Wii”. After all your time with video games, what are some of the Mandela Effects you’ve experienced?

Travis in Fargo

You’ve been cursed with big, fuzzy ears and a 6 foot long tail. In the next 24 hours, you need to make sure at least 1,000 people in real life see you (no streaming allowed!), but without realizing you’ve been transformed into a human-rat hybrid. How do you accomplish this?

Kraven Morcome

Hey MinnMax, Would you rather lose: the ability to speak or the ability to read? Every personal picture/video you've taken or all of your money? The respect of your parents or the respect of Ben Hanson? Truly the most challenging questions of our time.

Phelix Diaz

What is more interesting outer space or the deep sea?

Jonathan Anderson

I wouldn't be surprised if this has been asked before, given Ben Hanson, but what's every cohort's favorite dinosaur?

BEEFCAKE

When I was a kid, we used to go to the KFC buffet. And one time my pickle spear slid into my chocolate pudding. It was weirdly delicious. I got my brother to try it and he agreed. I every once in a while, I still crave it. Do you have any weird food combinations?

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey MinnMax, It seems to me like over the years common complaints about games have gone from them being "too short" to "too long". Have there been any games recently that were shorter than you wanted them to be?

Graham Jones

Hey MinnBens, I have been reflecting on sequels in the arts recently and find it interesting that some art forms have plenty of sequels (movies and video games) and others do not (board games, visual arts, theatre). So my question is do you think you would be more appreciative of IPs if sequels didnt exist at all or do you find that sequels enhance the IP? Thanks for killing it with all the great content

John Utke

Hi cohorts! Do you think Sabotage Studios historical support of conservative Jordan Peterson will/should affect the success of Sea of Stars? Game looks dope, but it's tainted for me now and it's going to be really hard to enjoy.

Hieronymus Josh

What's the best shape for eating? Circles? (whole pizzas, cheeseburgers) Triangles? (pizza slices, tortilla chips) Squares? (square pizza, whole wheat crackers) Capsules? (hot dogs, submarine sandwiches) Freeform? (salad, KFC famous bowl) Thanks!

Chandler

Hello Minnmax. I get mixed signals regarding this and so I'm asking: Do you think Jacob (Geller) owns, has owned, or ever will own a motorcycle? Could you all speculate for a bit before he answers? My thinking is that motorcycles are cool and something he would be into. But also motorcycles are scary and something he would avoid. Please help

Sam Kennedy

What’s cooler—Dinosaurs or robots? Please settle this debate, once and for all.

LlorchDurden

I don't usually post games but I ended up talking about this the other day at work so, All time Nintendo no brainers! (as in, things you'd do if you were in charge at Nintendo that are like a no brainers. Literally Nintendo is not printing money cause Nintendo) some examples - Nintendo 64 Mini - Release GamePass on Switch - Release something on Steam like Sony I think you'll be able to agree which idea would print the most money

Jared Piers

Hey minnmax! What's the hottest or coldest you've ever been? Thanks

Kaizoku Risu

Do you snooze your alarm in the morning?

Patrick Hughes

Ahoy MinnMax and crew! Do you have any game franchises in which you love their spinoffs more than the mainline series? Or if you could give a game series a new spinoff, what type of spinoff would it be? My favorite games of the Pokemon series are the Pokemon Snap games, but on the flip side I would love to see an RPG spinoff in the Zelda series.

James G.

Hey MinnMax, (Story time, then a question) First time, long time and all that jazz but I've got something to say, and that is, Thank you. When Minmax started, I was a retail manager at everyone's favorite(?) game store and working on my second time around through college to finish my Bachelors. Life's not easy for anyone and sometimes you need a second chance to find your way. Finishing my degree quickly became a Betterquest goal for me and as I listened each week it was inspiring. I wanted to find my way into the games Industry, and it paid off. Specifically, I want to extend my thanks to Kyle and Janet. During my studies in 2020, Kyle met with me for a student interview about his career path and successes, and Janet also met with me for an interview about ethics and practices (IGN, pre-Minnmax). These sessions granted me insights of where I wanted to be and furthered my determination to get there. Shortly after, I began working at a news publication, and now I find myself at a major games company working in what I love. Anyone who may read or hear this, Keep trying and don't give up. It's never too late to work towards a better path and pay it forward when you can. Thank you MinnMax! Now for a question. On the topic of second chances, what is one game you would like to play a full-blown remake of? You don't need to justify it's creation, just why you want to play it. (My answer would have been AC4 Black Flag, but seeing as how that may be a reality, I'm gonna go with Sonic '06, because a fully functional and updated version of that game would definitely be an "experience")

thewholehamdamily

Do you ever recommend games or other media to others that you yourself actively dislike?

Mike Lynch

Hey y'all! Without training, do you think you could leap across a six foot gap between two buildings? Just by running full bore at it?

Josh LaBaw

Hello Cohorts, In the past I was not a sweets person. Now I have a 2 year old with a sweet tooth & find myself enjoying them. Let's say, you're at a backyard BBQ. You need a little more food. Do you grab another hot dog, or get a rice crispy bar? In the past I was the hot dog guy, now, dessert sounds good.

Troy Ellison

Hey Kyle and the cohorts! Happy (hopefully) to have some kingdom hearts love(?) On the show! While this game series has its fair share of flaws, it will always have a special place in my heart for being my sort of gateway into games. It was the first game I got really passionate about as a kid, and it even got me to expand to other RPGs I love like Final Fantasy, and helped introduce me to games media as I waited years for Kingdom Hearts 3. So I ask you, what would you consider being your "Gateway Game"?

Aron Roberts

it was so cool seeing you guys interacting with other games media folks while watching your travelogue to SGF. It was a ton of fun to observe the more casual-social element of your games media network of friends and old colleagues. But it made me wonder--do you guys have similar relationships with game developers? In general, do games media people and game developers tend to have very friendly relationships? I guess having Ben Reeves as a guest last week kind of answers part of the question. lol

gybones

Kingdom Hearts representation! Finally. Deepest Dive! Deepest Dive! The series has had its claws in me since the first TV commercial I saw of it. Hearing that Simple and Clean remix along with everything going on in the ad really resonated with me for some reason. Have any of you been sold instantly on a game from a commercial or even a song from the game?

James Gameboy

A couple weeks ago, you were talking about the things that are fun in farming games that are decidedly not fun in real life. It's not a staple of farming games specifically, but I've always maintained that there is no greater disparity between the fun of mining in a game and the misery it probably is in reality.

Victor Pham

Is there enough room in the market for Rise of the Ronin, Assassin's Creed Red, and Ghost of Tsushima 2?

Michael Griffin

First time commenter here! My question is, with all of the craziness surrounding the Xbox acquisition of Activision/Blizzard, who would you cast as Phil Spencer, Jim Ryan, Bobby Kotick, etc. in a Succession style tragicomedy about the last 18 months? Or, would you rather get a really high quality documentary about all of the events?

Kees ('Case') Mulder

I was playing a little metroidvania game called 'Lone Fungus', and it gave off what I would call 'Solo Dev Energy': assets that are maybe not of the highest quality, but certainly very cohesive. What other games, that were actual solo dev or not, give off the most 'solo Dev Energy'?

MyNameIsDan

Hey friends, Is it (still) valid to critique a game for being too long? After finishing FF16, I don't think it quite had the legs to justify the amount of time it took to finish it. I liked the general gameplay, but it just grew tiresome and stagnant in the late game. Admittedly, some of that was brought on by myself as I continued to divest time into sidequests, but I still think portions of that game could have been trimmed to provide a tighter experience. I played TOTK for over 200 hours and did not have this issue. Thanks, Dan

Dylan Kelly

Howdy! If you each had to come up with a new Bugsnak, what food would it be based on and what would you call it?

DangerZone

Hey crew, Exoprimal is a weird game, amiright? It feels like Capcom had a checklist of features to put in their games from their shareholders, and they put it all in one. Battle pass: check PvP: check PvE: check Multiple dimensions and timelines: check Classes: check Team based shooter: check Replay ability: check Whacky and distinctive story characters: check Overall, I feel the game is fun but weird. You can’t check what each exosuits abilities are unless you go into the practice mode or the actual game. I have had a good time with the game but it also leaves me scratching my head. What are everyone’s thoughts? Thanks!! Jacob

Luca Alberti

Hello Minns & Maxxes, since we recently saw the release of Final Fantasy XVI with gargantuan fights and the release of the tiny Pikmin 4 is around the corner my question is what gives you a better sense of scale in a game: massive environments/characters a la Xenoblade/Shadow of the Colossus or a microscopic view of something familiar like in Tinykin on The Minish Cap?

henrik mortensen

Hallo! Do you always end up skipping conversation dialoge? I tend to do that a bit to much so the conversations in the game end up sounding like this: "Did you...Yes, I wi...But rememb...I always remem...." Hate your show

Tom Brien

Is there a most romantic game to play with a partner? I'm thinking of local multiplayer games but Overcooked, It Takes Two and Nidhogg are not very romantic. I feel like this should be a thing by now. Thanks, -Tom

Doctorok

My friends and I are doing a game club for Knights of the Old Republic, and we've finished the intro planet. I really enjoyed it, but I'm having trouble forcing myself to start the next chunk of the game because its huge and intimidating. Have any of you had trouble forcing yourself to make it through games for Deepest Dives?

Tim Mattonen

Hey all, I’m kinda surprised on why there isn’t too many book to video game adaptions. I thought maybe after Witcher 3, that could become more of a thing, and was wondering why it never really happened? Is it because video game companies want full control of their IP? Also, if you could adapt any book series, what would it be? As I continue to watch FF16, I can’t help but think that Square Enix could make a great Wheel of Time video game.

Fatt Mish

Hi MannMix friends. Would you all rather have a real life character customizer for yourself every day or access to every acrobatic move you've ever done in a video game? Keep up the good stuff. - Mars from MN

Joe Robert

Hey, folks! What are you hoping to see in Kingdom Hearts 4? Personally, I would like to see a return to the story and plot being more Disney-centric. I loved the evil organization of villains in the first game plotting against Sora and his friends. However, either because of Disney IP rights or Nomura's own storytelling style, it seems like the series is moving further away from its initial premise. Would you like to see a return to form, an evolution of what's come before, or something else entirely? Thanks! - Joe R.

Brainfreeze

Hey Minnmax, I was laid off from my job at Blizzard Entertainment yesterday, so I would like to take this opportunity to leverage Minnmax's far reach and new uncensored mantra to say: Bobby Kotick is a bitch. Thank you. P.S. Mike Ybarra is a bitch too.

Piet van Rosmalen

Kyle & cohorts, Picross question: do you use hints? Personally I need to have the no-hints ribbon on every page. The problem is that on the last couple of pages, it almost becomes impossible.. Or am I just missing a strategy? Cheers! Piet (Pete) - Rotterdam Netherlands
