Welcome back! My city used to have one A&W that made chicken tacos. They were not particularly amazing, but they were unique and I’d often have them with my family growing up. But the A&W has since closed due to a fire and never opened back up. Does anybody have something they crave to eat but don’t have access to anymore? Maybe you don’t live in the same city anymore or the recipe book was lost, etc. And if anyone knows of another A&W that has tacos, let me know!

TheMightyEthan

Who the heck is this Ben guy, and what has he done with Kyle?!

The Sleepy MailMan

Hey, MinnMax! What’s the silliest thing you did as a kid? When I was 7, I stapled a metal Slinky to the back of my pants and tried to bounce like Tigger.

Mike Lynch

What would you say the personality of the 2010's was? I can look at every decade since the 1930's, by a pop culture/fashion standpoint, and recognize the look and the personality of it. But not the 2010's. It's when I became a parent, so perhaps pop culture just wasn't on my radar anymore. What would you say defined that decade?

Stevelution

Welcome back Pop Hanson! I recently bought a few different games for my Switch for a very long flight. What’s everyone else’s favourite type of games to play when travelling and why?

Stark

Congrats and welcome back to Ben. My question is very Ben/Minnmax specific: what do you think a Final Fantasy XVI deepest dive would have looked like in a world where the game came out at a different time?

Jaketrix

Charles Martinet is stepping back from voicing Mario and friends so I think it's time for the MinnMax crew to submit their auditions for Mario, Luigi, Wario, etc Pick a character and create a new voice for them!

Ryan M

Hello MinnMax. What, if any, gaming magazines did you read growing up, and do you think the medium (printed magazine) has any benefits that current games media lacks?

WeGoGiant

Hi MinnMax, and welcome back, Hanson At the moment I write this, it's currently my birthday. What's the best (or worst) birthday gift you've ever received?

Kevin Kuper

Hello HuMinnMax, Did you ever use the notepad page that used to come in the game manuals inside a game case? If so what did you write down? Thanks!

Blazingscourge

Hello everyone and welcome back Ben! They say that playing classical music helps make a baby smart. Instead of that, what video game score/soundtrack would you rather play for a baby?

RabidLime

welcome back, Benjamin Hanson! can you please give a firsthand account of "your" "cameo" on the gaming podcast Triple Click? cause that was very Twilight Zoney.

Andy Dwyer

What is the GOAT cheese? Is it goat cheese or do you have a different favorite?

Tom Rickard

Hey folks and welcome back Ben! I’m currently reading Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin which is about two friends making video games together and their decades long relationship. The book creates a fictional game called Ichigo which legitimately sounds like it would make for a great game. Has there ever been any fictional video games that show up in a movie, TV show, or book that made you want to play them? Or seemed like they would make for a good game in real life?

Chandler

Hey minnmax. Nice host What are your bedtime routines and sleep schedules like? How well rested do you feel on average? I will be copying the best one and hoping it improves my life.

RickyWinterborn

Welcome back dad, last week's convo about game length was interesting, I was wondering do you think game length preference is entirely based on a gamer's age? As in the older the person is, the less time they have and thus appreciate a short game vs. a dumb little kid with no job who can just GAME ALL DAY and therefore wants games to be long as possible? Or is it unrelated to age, and gamers in general are just sick of cluttered mini-maps and mid side quests?

Travis in Fargo

How do you like celebrating your birthday, if at all?

Travis in Fargo

If you had to enter a cooking competition right now, with only ingredients you have available at home - what would you make? And among the MinnMax crew, who would have the best shot of winning the competition with their dish?

Cody Allison

Stray gods is another take on mythology used in a modern medium. To name a few. Thor/MCU, stray gods, assassins Creed Valhalla, god of war and much more. Is there a untapped mythos or entity from the well known mythologies that you think deserve a modern showcase.

Roc Breathnach

After Skyrim, Elden Ring, BoTW and BG3 can we finally admit that magic swords, dragons and saving princesses is cool? Hardly a surprise when these things blowup.

Mason Cowell

Howdy all! Where do you stand on level scaling in games? Do you prefer to have enemies scale up and down to correlate to your rough level, or do you prefer to be able to out-level quests and enemies, even if it can make what should be a tough fight according to the story a cake walk? This question brought to you by my level 50 Aloy with fully upgraded weapons knocking out the final boss in 20 seconds with 5 explosive spears.

Fatt Mish

If you could bring one powerup from an old game into a game from 2023, which one would you choose?

Kraven Morcome

Hey MinnMax, I saw there is a new regional publisher for studios in the Midwest, aptly named Midwest Games. I think it's great that we might start seeing more talent able to operate out of a part of the country that has been underrepresented in the industry. Any chance MinnMax could get an interview with someone from the publisher, maybe at the upcoming 2D Con? Also welcome back Ben!

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts! What are the best one and two syllable video game names? Not judging the quality of the game, just the quality of the name. I think Doom is hard to beat for one, although Prey and Wet are good contenders. For two syllables, Hitman works quite well. Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Sam Saturn

Sup gamers, Who is the king of gamer dads? Not dads who game or make games. I’m talking digital daddies. Purely fictional fellas. Joel is a recent favorite from The Last of Us. But my personal highlight has to be the double daddie sacrifice in Dragon Quest V (Pankraz is killed and the Hero is turned to stone). Also, shout out to Bad Dad Yoshi for using his offspring as ammunition.

Joe Garifo

Welcome back Papa Ben. I have a quandary for you. I just built a new PC and I was halfway through playing Horizon Zero Dawn through Epic. Turns out there aren’t cloud saves and Epic has no way to move the save. I have a couple options and I want your input. First, just give up and say I’ll never finish. Second, pull the drive from the old PC (which has become the kids Minecraft PC) and see if I can play that way. Third and final is start all over after I was about 20 hours in. What say MinnMax and my future of HZD?

Denham Harry

Hello Minnesota Maximums! Last year when I was in the States for D23, I was waiting to be seated for the Muppets panel. There were lots of people crowded around, just waiting in the auditorium to snag a seat. I feel someone brush my butt so I step forward to let them through, then go to give a casual nod to whoever I inconvenienced, only to lock eyes with Mr Muppet himself, Geoff Keighley. He cut away through the crowd, heading for the front row, but I’ll never forget how graciously he touched my butt. Anyway, what’s your weirdest encounter with someone in the industry?

Garrett Wainstock

Do you think more companies should be making controllers for their retired systems? How much would you pay for a new OEM controller for your favorite old console? For examples, I can think of the new Atari joysticks coming out and the GCN controllers for Smash 4. Anything that can't be used on its original console without third party accessories doesn't count, like Switch Online and mini-console controllers. Still, those controllers tell us that compatible ones are very possible. Thannks!

Seabass

Hey there, I’ve been playing Final Fantasy X for the first time since release, and even though I braced myself for the meme-inducing dub, it’s still somehow worse than I expected. With weird pacing and off putting tone, I can easily say it’s the worst voice acting I’ve experienced in a game. That said, what games stand out to you for having either great or terrible voice acting, vocal direction, or dubs?

Preston Determan

Hey Everyone, First off, welcome back Ben. I hope you got to enjoy your time with your family before us greedy MinnMaxers take back all of your time. I want to talk Starfield. Specifically the products around it. I have never played a Bethesda RPG and truthfully I am not very interested in playing Starfield either but their marketing stuff has me hooked. I bought the super cool special edition Xbox controller. I had to stop myself from buying the Constellation edition of the game because that watch and its case (mostly the case) were super appealing. And now Microsoft has introduced those console wraps of which I ordered the Starfield one. I guess there are two questions here: am I crazy(?) and can anyone relate to this kind of hype where the main attraction holds no real value but the products and marketing around it grab your attention?

Lee Adama

Real question, but who’s Blumbo?

BearCommando

Hey Ben, Since you and Ronny correctly dubbed Elden Ring “baby game”, when do you intend to let your baby start to play?

Victor Pham

Is there still a place for live gaming events, especially if security allows for anyone to just hijack the stage?

CptCobblePot

Hey Minnmaxers, Kings of Leon Youth and Young Manhood came out 20 years ago. What’s another band that every song sounds the exact same?

Sparky

How do you approach games that you really enjoy overall but have problematic elements that you wish weren't there? I've been playing Honkai Star Rail since June and I really really like it. However, it's impossible to overlook the monetization of the game. Limited time events for characters that you can only get with luck on your side, and when the event's over who knows when you can get that character again. There are free ways to get characters but putting in 100 dollars for only 50 individual pulls for characters and their equipment makes sense to me why this game has made A LOT of money.

Aaron Waltz

Welcome back Ben!!! While you were gone, we were joined by the amazing Kyle bosman. this was my first experience with him and while he quickly grew on me, his opening was a little charged and took me off guard. My question was what was one time your first impression was completely off?

Jared Piers

Hey everyone, on party chat you guys were talking about how you find your baby cuter than all others. I had the same experience with my son but now that he is older, I look back at his baby pictures and realize how biased I was. It'll happen to you! (Maybe). Anyways, have you had the typical dad experience yet of crying at everything remotely related to children?

Duderado

Howdy crew! Welcome back Ben! What would your diary say if you were a NPC in your favorite RPG?

SlyCut

Hello all, What is your prediction for what games will be in the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2?

Timothy Dubis

I was talking about what made us gamers with some friends, and it made me realize how much of a difference Pokemon Red and Blue made in my life. It set me down a path to most of my hobbies these days. I'm wondering if there are any games like that for you guys, games you would consider foundational for your life or hobby?

Cath

Hey HuMinnMax I read an article by an outlet I won’t name (Kotaku) that complained that you couldn’t skip the songs in Stray Gods… you know the MUSICAL video game. Someone in discord compares it to going to a Broadway and complaining that there’s too much song. My question is this; why kind of article/complains/Review grinds your gear?

SlyCut

Hello all, Do you remember the first co-op game you ever played? What was it? I think mine was Super Spike V-Ball on NES. 2v2 volleyball. My dad and I played all the time trying to beat the game. I don't think we ever did, but it was sure fun trying.

Logan Donaldson

Hi Minnmaxamillions, What is the trail mix of video games? That is, a game in which you are willing to munch through boring mundane gameplay for those occasional moments of sweet M&M-esque euphoria. For me it is Shadow of the Colossus. I found the gameplay to be often frustrating but it was all worth to catch a glimpse at the design of the next Colossus. -Logan

Jason Wojnar

What are your earliest online gaming memories, or when did you first get regularly access to gaming online?

Graham Jones

Hello daddy Hansen, I am wondering about how we should address your son now that he is out in the world. I know he will go unnamed so I'm thinking we think of some nickname alternatives. I personally am thinking "the child" or "BOY" (kratos voice). What are the teams suggestions?

SlickJames

You’re at a BBQ and there’s two things left on the grill, a burger and a hotdog. Which one do you chose? I would chose the burger. Nothing is better off the grill than a burger.

Shakenbake67

Hello and welcome back Hanson! This question is for Haley, what’s in the immortals of aveum EULA? Anything interesting? Also what are some of the most interesting things you’ve seen in EULAs in video games?

thejjuan1

Hello minnmax and welcome back Ben. Question is how much a remastered should cost these days? With the backlash with the MGS collection vol 1 and Red Dead Redemption. The biggest issue people are having besides frame rate or resolution is the price. Is 60 dollars or close to it, too much now. I remember back in the PS3 days, these kinds of remasters were 40 dollars max.

Tokyo Game Life

Hi MinnMax, Guess if the game is from the Dragon Ball, Naruto, or One Piece series based on the subtitle. Infinite World (Dragon Ball) Ultimate Mission (Dragon Ball) Grand Battle (One Piece) The Phantom Fortress (Naruto) Unlimited Adventure (One Piece) For Kinect (Dragon Ball) PS it was really hard to find a Naruto subtitle that didn’t have the word “ninja” in it.

PhillyYeetSteak

Hi Minnmax, I've got a banger of a question for you, Is it still cool when game and movie trailers have the sounds of gunshots and punches synced up with the music? I feel like we have been seeing this for almost a decade now. Thanks and welcome back, daddy Ben!

Derek Achoy

Hi and welcome back Ben! Does anyone you know still wear a watch? Are watches dead?!

Kellogs

Hey dad, What's your favorite time of day to go to the beach?

Bob Buel

This is a challenge for Daddy Hanson and the cohorts. Does anyone have a video game fun fact that they genuinely believe none of the other 3 would have ever heard before? If so, what's that fact?

Patrick Hughes

Ahoy good folks of MinnMax! And welcome back Hanson! With the news of Charles Martinet stepping down from the role of Mario, I thought it'd be fun to take a look at the man of yahoo's career outside the roles of just Mario in a little game called Martinet or Martin-not? Guess whether the following games feature this esteemed voice actor: 1) Super Punch Out!! [yes - Announcer] 2) Donkey Kong 64 [no] 3) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim [yes - Paarthurnax, dragon] 4) Grand Theft Auto IV [no] 5) Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time [yes - Orvus, creator of Clank] 6) Jet Set Radio Future [yes - Gouji Rokkaku, main villain] 7) Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast [yes - various NPC's] 8) Bit.Trip Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien [yes - Announcer]

Vilis

Stray Gods is the game I most want to play right now that I feel I don't have time for. Once I saw Laura Bailey was the main character, and the rest of the cast I was like "yup yup yup!" I know Ben has a deeply rooted animosity toward actors (welcome back new dad Ben!), but are there any games y'all are looking forward to or have enjoyed more because of the voice actors who are in it rather than the actual content of the game?

Tanner Hoisington

To the growing parents and pet parents of MinnMax, if something tragic happened and you had a "promise me you'll look after my son" moment, which gaming parent would you entrust them to? I'm thinking Sojiro aka Coffee Dad from Persona 5. He was prickly at first, but boy did he have Joker's back by the end.

Linn

Welcome back Ben! When you have had a longer period of “time off”, the first thing you need are people throwing more work at you. So here is an idea for Minnmax. How about each host and cohort record a few minutes introduction about them self? Background, general game preferences and top 5 favourite games ever? This would be a great start for anyone new to Minnmax, and also, help to existing crowd in discussions such as GOTY and general reviews! :)

UmamiUnagi

As Jacob mentioned in the Gamescom stream, there is something particularly disconcerting about the global video game industry flying out to Cologne and then patting themselves on the back for their green initiatives with an award. I love video game conferences as well as the content that MinnMax creates on them, but it just doesn't seem like they are an ethical option in the 2020s given their massive ecological footprint (flights, single use everything, fast fashion merch etc.). Do you guys have any ideas for how conferences, or the industry at large, could become genuinely sustainable? And have you thought about Minnmax's own ecological impact with regards to flying to conferences?

Joe Dean

What keeps you awake at night?

Jake S

Hello Ben, Kyle, Haley and Jacob! I have recently become a new homeowner and have a 6 month old puppy. I've found that this has drastically changed my gaming habits, specifically the amount of time I have dedicated to playing a variety of titles. I find myself heavily scrutinizing what to play next because time is a scarce resource! My question to the team is, have you ever had a major life event that has changed your gaming habits or the types of games you like to play? A new job, a child, a marriage, maybe something else, etc... Or maybe Ben can predict how having a child might impact his game playing decision making. Thanks for a great show and welcome back Ben!
