What would happen to MinnMax if Taylor Swift came on the MinnMax podcast?

Joseph Stanichar

Since we have a Cincinnatian here and I’ve been craving it since leaving the area, can Charles please explain the wonders of Skyline Chili to everyone else and why those who hate it are simply wrong?

Victor Pham

Is it cool for video games to deliberately mispronounce names? Like Raiden and Shirai Ryu are consistently mispronounced in Mortal Kombat and now Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is going to mispronounce Cait Sith? P.S. Ben usually mispronounces my last name (it's pronounced "FOM") lol

Stevelution

Given we’re into big scarves, rainy days and comfy coat weather. What’s your ideal cozy day look like?

Palo

Do you find less or more enjoyment reading a book if you've already seen a film adaptation of that same story?

CrabPalace

What do you imagine to be the most and least fun parts of making a game?

Rikimaru

Hey MinnMax, it's October! Do you associate any game series with a specific time of the year? Which season do each of you associate with the following game series: Crash Bandicoot - Summer or Winter (Holiday)? Psychonauts - Summer or Halloween? The Legend of Zelda - Spring or Summer? Dark Souls - Halloween or Winter (Holiday)? Dead Island - Summer or Halloween? Bonus / Wild cards: Animal Crossing Pokemon Spider-Man Super Mario Bros. Uncharted

Victor Garcia

Hi everyone, When eating cereal, what is your preferred level of sogginess on a scale of 1-10? I'm around a 7. It's mostly soggy but there's still a little bit of a crunch to it.

whitemex

When you find out that a game has multiple endings, where do you draw the line to play the game again to seek them out yourself instead of watching them on YouTube? For instance, Armored Core 6 has 3 endings and I went ahead and NG+ the game 2 times to see them all, but a game like Sea of Stars doesn't require a replay but more of a 100% complettion and I just watched that online. So I guess my line 100% a game

PoorAndCurly

Hey MinnMax, Just gonna give a brief recommendation for Cocoon. Excellent little puzzle game, made me think of Portal, where you have to alter how you think and approach the puzzles based on the systems given to you. It's on gamepass and took me 5 hours, thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone thinking about playing it?

Kevin Kuper

You are doing a side quest in an open world game, you get another side quest that will take you far away in the middle of the prior quest. You don't know how long either will take, what do you do first? Thanks!

The Sleepy MailMan

Hey, MinnMax! What, in your opinion, takes longer: the average human lifespan (76 years), or the amount of time it would take to roll credits on every must-play game ever released?

Swedish pagan

Happy spooky month! Is there a movie or show based on a video game that you would rather watch than play the game it's based on?

Dan from Canada

Hey gang! What’s your greatest comeback that you wish you said in the moment to someone but only thought of after the fact

Prodigal Horse

Given the community debate over using shower gel as shampoo, I expected a similar level of debate following a conversation 2 weeks ago where it seemed common practice to only brush your teeth once a day. To my immense disappointment there was silence. What the hell? Is everyone seriously only brushing once a day? Am I nuts? Isn't twice a day the minimum?

Zachary Sweet

Has anyone from the panel been somewhere that's also in a video game? I toured Alcatraz last summer and it is almost 1:1 to the Tony Hawk 4 level.

Shane C

Why is the horror genre called "horror"? Shouldn't it be called "terror"? How often are you actually "horrified" by what you're seeing?

BobaFets

If real life had a New Game+ option would you take it? What would you do differently your second time around?

RynaGoGo

Happy Spook-Hallow-Tober Gang! What’s the scariest kids media? My little nephews been acting like a brat and I want to remind him that his life will one day end. The thing that scared me most as a child was The Never Ending Story. Something about a infinite nothingness that was coming to devour you really spooked me. And it still does!!

Jason Wojnar

Both of my parents (though father is no longer with us) insist/insisted on telling me their dreams. This would be a solid 5 minute narrative of whatever the dream was. I hated it and still hate it. 15 second dream summary and that's it, no story. What are your thoughts on people telling you their dreams? Would you want to know if someone had a dream about you?

SuperThisWay

Hey all! What’s the biggest bit you ever committed to that you regretted or didn’t?

Stark

Cocoon might be my GOTY. You have to play it. This has me thinking about Playdead of course. While Alan Wake 2 is about to launch, we haven’t heard anything about the other two publishing deals epic announced - playdead and gendesign. Should we be concerned?

DontBashAsh

Now that we’ve officially made it to October, who has a Halloween costume planned out for this year and what is it? If you’re not planning to dress up this year, what was your favorite Halloween costume you’ve ever put together?

Dude Longcouch

Hello, hello! My friend was telling me that he can't tell if he doesn't like Starfield because it sucks, or because he just played Baldur's Gate 3. It reminded me of 2010 when I couldn't tell if I hated Skyward Sword because it sucked, or because I had just played Skyrim. I probably would have enjoyed Skyward Sword a lot more if I'd played it BEFORE Skyrim, but the fact is I didn't, and so Skyward Sword is forever branded in my brain as "the one really awful mainline Zelda title." It got me wondering... is there a difference between something sucking, and something sucking in comparison to something else? How important is context when we're evaluating a game, and is it fair to apply that context from a game's contemporaries or should each game be evaluated on it's own merits? Does this rambling incoherence make any sense at all? Thoughts?

Fred Dinovo

Hello, Please create on the spot Halloween themed pseudonyms for each other. Thank you.

Alex Britt

What is one thing you do that's typical of your generation and what is something you do that is atypical of your generation?

BEEFCAKE

When I was a kid I got very into into Jim Davis’ Garfield. I read every single comic strip, collected all the books, forced my parents to stop at antique stores and flea markets so I can see if they had any old memorabilia, played all the website games, joined the Garfield fan club, and my first email address was GarfieldButt101@yahoo. I don’t know why, I don’t even think I thought Garfield was funny. It was just a thing to do. Has there ever been anything you’ve gotten really into but you just don’t know why?

Jump On Everything

Hi everyone, my question is what was the last game you played that left you feeling sad after finishing it due to how much you enjoyed it or any similar reasons

Michael Griffin

What is your coolest/best gaming accomplishment that causes you to do the Kevin James meme shrug?

Lilly S

Why is nobody talking about Disgaea 7? It just released and its one of Nippon Ichi Software (AKA NIS America) longest running franchises! This company releases so many hidden gems and gets overlooked a lot as far as rpg developers go. Do people not like these games or is it something else?

Brian W

We’ve had Pac Man, Minecraft, Pokémon Go, and Fortnite. If you could pick the next studio or franchise that’s going to make the next gaming juggernaut who or what would it be and why?

SlyCut

Hello all, I was planning to embrace the "doom hound" persona you dubbed me with last episode and do another death related post, but I've been waiting for an all-male panel to ask this question, so please hear me out. Do you believe in, and abide by, urinal etiquette? If you're not familiar with the term, it refers to properly choosing which urinal to occupy and how to act once you're there. This is a real thing, look it up. If there are three urinals and they are all vacant, do you take one on an end allowing the potential next guy to take the other end? or do you take the center urinal? Do you look to the sides and strike up conversations with nearby urinal users? or do you keep quiet and stare forward/downward? I'm a firm believer in urinal etiquette. How about you?

Kraven Morcome

Hey MinnMax, Does Immortal imply invincibility? Does invincibility imply that someone is Immortal? Are they completely seperate concepts?

Dusty Beaman

Hello Minnmaxxers, does Ben block all my questions because I asked about his dirty laundry? Thanks

Lee Huber

Hey Minnmax! Square Enix has finally settled the debate and made a post this week saying that Cait Sith is pronounced "Kate Sihth" and not the Scottish Gaelic pronunciation "Ket Shee". I am a bit disappointed by this because I think if you're pulling a character's concept/name from another culture/language you should try to preserve the original pronunciation, even if it's a bit... difficult for English speakers. What's everyone's thoughts on this? And are there any other names from games that were pronounced wildly different from what you expected?

RabidLime

Jacob Geller! (missed joke opportunity?) a month or two ago you talked about playing/streaming Earth Defence Force 4.1: Shadow of New Despair. you casually mentioned it "came out 7 years ago or something..." ...how could you not emphasize "7 YEARS!!!" as that's how long the bugs were hidden away in the caverns beneath the Earth's crust, and the game repeats this fact about 8 billion times in the opening level? also, for everyone, what kind of Animorph would you be?

Brainfreeze

Playing Phantom Liberty recently has reminded me just how good Cyberpunk 2077 looks. It had me thinking: all else aside, what are your favorite games to just look at in motion? I think Cyberpunk, Cuphead, and Bioshock Infinite are my top 3.

Vincent L.

Favorite fall seasonal beverage?

UpsideDownJay

Howdy Ben and the Bandits, I’ve just recently finished bingeing all minnmax content after joining the Patreon and am now officially up to date! To keep myself entertained at work, apart from Minnmax, what are your favourite podcasts/places to hear about video games (apart from twitter/X)? Cheers from down under

Baekon

Hello Cohorts, due to this insane year in video games, i was wondering if you'd consider a three tens year. Many games would be left out, especially non-AAA games. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Phelix Diaz

Hello Miners and Maxxers: If you could use one spell from BG3 in your everyday life. Which one would it be and how would you use it?

Abe

Hey, MinnMax. What’s the weirdest order you’ve gotten into a game series? I started the original Final Fantasy 7 a couple years back and stopped after Midgar. I then played Remake and really enjoyed seeing what I played expanded. But now I’m going into Rebirth sort of blind. I’m curious as to what the resident FF7 expert Ben Hanson thinks cause there’s no way I got time to finish the original with this year’s releases lol.

Mitch Krassin

What do you love and hate about having the first name that you do?

Cherrymorph

Don't know if you accept missed joke opportunities that happened on other podcasts but on the Easy Allies Podcast they talked about that new Jurrasic Park Game Collection. Don said that some of the games are "drastically different" from the originals and no one said 'jurrastically different'

Seabass

Hey Minns and Maxxes, do you still make birthday wishes? Have you ever had one come true?

Phil DeGrave

Hello everyone! I want to play Cyberpunk 2077 in the year 2077. I was born in 1973, so I will be 104 years old in 2077. What is my biggest hurdle to playing Cyberpunk 2077 in 2077? Living to be 104 years old or finding hardware in 2077 that will play 2020 software?

Patrick Hughes

Ahoy MinnMax and crew! What's your favorite horror experience snuck into an "E" rated game? I'm talking the likes of killer pianos from Super Mario 64 or the nightmare fuel that is the bottom of the well in Ocarina of Time. Creep it real!

Jacob McCourt

Would you rather have an extra vacation for the rest of your working life or get six months paid vacation.

Andrew Burnes

Most of the discussion about Microsoft's move to eliminate physical media misses the main issue, which is locking us into a single storefront owned by the hardware manufacturer. Last month I fell in love with Deathloop on PS Plus and wanted to buy a copy since it was leaving the service. On the PlayStation storefront, it is still $60. On the secondary market, it's about $15. Even dead games like Anthem were sold for full price long after they had been abandoned. And once they've locked us into the storefront, what's to stop sales from disappearing and subscription prices from increasing even further?

Jim Chatterton

Hey Ben and Cohorts! I feel like I have heard both Ben and Jacob mention their love of Jon Bois, famed YouTube sports documentarian. I feel like neither of you have that much interest in sports though. Could you elaborate on how you learned about him and what makes him so special to you?

micspam

Do you think that Super Mario Wonder being in last place demonstrates a lack of childlike-whimsy in Minnmax Patreons, and if so, what can be done to solve such a pressing societal issue?

MrButtons

Hey MinnMax Crew! Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the first time I’ll be hopping back into the series since Black Flag, partially because I feel they’ve picked a unique and interesting historical setting. What real world setting, past or present, would you like to see adapted or represented in a video game?

Funky Duck

October is here! What is your favorite movie to watch around Halloween? Does Minnmax lean scary or fun?

Harrison Holt

Hey MinnMax, We know that there is an art to conducting a good interview, asking the questions that THE PEOPLE want answers to or would be interested in hearing about, while also knowing what not to ask, what not to waste time on because you know you'll get a complete nothing answer. Flipping that on its head, if the situation came about where you could guarantee an answer to a question from someone from the industry, who and what would it be? An answer about lore from a videogame story you care deeply about perhaps, or the way a a game or series was managed during development? What is that burning question that you know you could normally never dream of getting an answer to? Cheers, Harrison

MakeItUnclear

In spite of so many baffling design decisions, I find myself completely hooked by Starfield - and utterly frustrated the entire time I'm playing. What are some of the most frustrating games you couldn't put down, and what absurd, befuddling design decisions were you willing to overlook?

Joe Garifo

Howdy Benny and the Boys, Do you have any hidden gem Spooktober games? I’m looking for some seasonally fun games to play this month. Alien Isolation, Alan Wake, Amnesia are all classic spooky games and I’m looking for something that’s flown under the radar. Thanks, Joe

Duderado

Howdy crew, Since picking up Rider's Republic last month to prep for the Skateboard DLC I've directly influenced two people to buy the game while it's on sale. What's the last or best game you "sold" to a friend?

Michael Berry

As a kid, I had a blast jumping into things like piles of leaves or ball pits at indoor playgrounds. Now, both of those things seem really gross. Which one do you actually think is grosser? The decaying leaves, or the unsantized plastic balls? Which pile would you jump in now?

Ryan Dodson

2023 has proven to be a one of the most packed years of excellent games I can remember. I find myself overwhelmed with the amount of games I want to play but can't find the time for. So far I've dabbled with Star Field, Lies of P, and Armored Core but haven't given them a fair shake. What games are you neglecting to play this year and do you think you'll get to them before the end of the year?

Luca Alberti

Hello panel! I'm in a Wes Anderson mood since Asteroid City dropped a few months late over here and I just rewatched Isle of Dogs, talk about an all timer! What are in your opinion the best animated features released after the year 2000?

phoenix

Hey MinnMax crew, How do you explain Square's inability to properly name a game? Have I underestimated Japan's love of cool sounding English words?

notweirder

Hey MinnMax, with the new school year I found myself taking an Intro to Game Design course, and I have to say, it's fascinating. I love being able to take a deeper look at why we play games and the types of decisions we make while playing them. My professor told us how he wrote a whole paper on a single modification to chess from hundreds of years ago, and it got me thinking: if you could have a scholarly paper written about a single aspect of a specific game, what would you choose? I'd love to have a formal look at the Zone Meter from Tetris Effect, and how it takes flow into consideration. Feel free to choose anything though, from story to gameplay moments! - Eric

Brad Grenz

Dear CLCs, When you buy some nuggs, do you peel the top off the dipping sauce container completely, or leave it hanging by one edge? Brad Grenz

Christian Jimenez

Hiyah, How do you feel about Jacob's latest video, about us essentially living in the pre-apocalypse. Huge props to him for bringing up so many real world issue through his channel and video game parallels. It's made me more proactive and aware of the uphill humanity faces with how things are right now. A lot to chew on this. Thanks.

Andy Dwyer

Hi, Do you have a favorite fall activity? Personally I’m a big fan of doing corn mazes at night.

Jared Piers

Hey Minnmax, if you had to, do you think you could infiltrate the game Informer office, hitman style? Murder not required.

Onlinesquid

With Achievement hunter officially ending after 15 years, do you guys have anything you want to wax nostalgic about the early days of content creation on the internet? Anything you can pin down that influenced you or brought you joy?

Tokyo Game Life

Would all gaming podcasts improve if the phrase “really fun” was banned, forcing everyone to be more thoughtful and precise? Or would they collapse upon themselves?

Jonathan Dinh

Hey Ben and the CLC’s, I find myself going on a “rollercoaster” when it comes to games. By that I mean after finishing a behemoth of a game, I often go for something less intimidating or chill. For example, after Baldur’s Gate 3 I am playing through Dave the Diver, a smaller and chiller game. Do you follow up big games with smaller/chiller experiences as a palette cleanser of sorts?

Aging_Poorly

Hi Ben and the Charles-loving-cohorts, I've been raiding eBay for some cult classics and am playing through Elite Beat Agents. This game is *pure* *joy*. My cheeks hurt from smiling while tapping along to weird dancing secret agents, a goofy animated short story, and Avril Lavigne's "Skater Boi". Are there any other "pure joy" games like this that I may have missed? I don't mean "games that might make you smile every once in a while." I mean games where you can't help but grin like an idiot while playing?

Andrew Burnes

Most of the discussion around the death of physical games is missing the biggest issue: hardware manufacturers locking us into their storefronts without any alternatives. I fell in love with Deathloop on PS Plus last month and wanted to pick up a copy after it left the service. It's still $60 on the PlayStation store, but on the secondary market it runs about $15. Dead games like Anthem were also still being sold for full price long after they were abandoned. And once we're locked in, I fear the sales we get now will dry up and we'll see further subscription price hikes.

Bob Buel

Howdy Hanson & the Thudbutts, Who's the best band or musical artist you first heard through a videogame?

Graham Jones

Where is your favorite location to hide in an assassin's creed game?

Brody Weller

With Assassin’s Creed Mirage going back to the classic formula that the series started with, would you rather see these new games come out that go back to their roots or would you prefer more remakes/remasters?

RabidLime

Creepy Cohorts, after you you complete a game, some will show the stats for everything in the game (enemies defeated, miles driven, lives lost, etc ) if, after you die, you could see your stats, what stat would you like to know? hours of gaming? pounds of food eaten? movies watched? personally, i'd be curious to see my most used cuss word.

Mackenzie Adams

It’s an insane year for video game releases. Many podcasts I listen to have mentioned this many times along with their anxieties about having to cover all these releases. Do you think content creators should feel anxious about this? Does this stem from too much importance being placed on Game of the Year? Do you think the average consumer feels the same anxiety? -VillainMack

Brad Beyer

Hey crew! Do you remember any moments where you suddenly realized that gaming was much bigger than you thought? When I was a young kid I remember traveling from northern Michigan down to Tennessee to visit some family and I was excited to tell my cousin there about this great new game I had discovered at my local rental store back home, the Genesis strategy-ish game called General Chaos. But when I got there and told him, he had already heard of it and said we could go rent it while I was there on vacation, which we did. It seems strange, but this is the first time my brain put together the fact that the same games were being released throughout the world around the same time and it changed how I thought about games going forward.

Vindicated

Hello Ben and cohorts! What game are you shocked isn't made yet?

TheLastArcher

Sup MinnMax! What y’all think are the top 5 throwable weapons/items in video games?

Travis in Fargo

How do you get motivated? Do you have any rituals that help you get productive?

Travis in Fargo

Are there any artificial fruit flavors that are better than the real thing?!?

Travis in Fargo

What would it take for MinnMax to make a hard pivot away from video games to, say, a movie review site or something?

b_wood

Hey Crew, I was watching Kinda Funny's PSILY Jim Ryan episode and they and most of their audience never heard of PlayStation Access, the official PS YouTube channel of the UK. They produce a lot of content (podcast, streams, holiday specials, list, tip, and info videos, and more). With their content and 2M+ subscribers, I assumed they were well known in the wider gaming community. I assumed wrong. To help me with my shock and disbelief, can you share a moment where you thought something or someone was well known and found out it was not.

Fatt Mish

Would you all rather have two extra legs or two extra arms?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, What’s a game you’ve only played once whose story you remember the most?

Shawninator

Hey Ben and crew! Do you have a specific gaming clan/clan tag that you usually use? Who is in your gaming clan? Why are "clans" the go to group for gamers anyways? My clan is my brother and a few friends and we are usually The Trash Clan/Team Trash. That way, if we do really bad, at least we tried to give people a heads up.

Harrison Holt

Hey everyone, What games are cool but not good? Cheers, Harrison
