If Guy Fieri featured a restaurant on one of his shows, would that make you more or less likely to go there?

Stevelution

With some GOTY chat on the latest Party Chat I was wondering, what’s the most unlikely game you all think will make the Two Tens?

Sam Kennedy

When was the last time you actually used a game console to play a DVD/Blu-ray? What did you watch?

ProcyonNumber6

Hey Benn and Friennds, What do your parents do for work?

NonBinaryBomb

Hey team, who are each of your celebrity lookalikes? I can't picture Hanson without thinking of Jared Keeso from Letterkenney.

SlyCut

Hello all, Would you take the ability to snap the best version of french toast, waffles, and/or pancakes into existence whenever you want for the rest of your life or would you take $25,000 in cash?

RabidLime

does reality exist within the universe, or is the universe inside this reality?

Modestbrock

I don't care for restaurant sims or water levels that you have to worry about timers and yet I really like Dave the Diver. What are some games that defy your typical taste.

RabidLime

anyone like weird taste combinations? dill pickles and peanut butter is low-key delicious.

Mike Lynch

-What's your red flag for "criticism" in YouTube videos you watch? When you realize a video you've clicked on is hateful (or just negative for negative's sake) and is never going to be nuanced.

We've got farming sims with dinosaurs and farming sims with magic. What would you add to *your* farming sim to make it stand out from the crowd?

Alex Britt

What's the biggest change you made in your life that brought you the most happiness?

John

Rubbernecking? Yay or Neigh.

Hayden Scott-Baron

I bounced off Control, but I always hear people gushing about The Ashtray Maze. I want to experience it, but I don’t want to play the rest. Which parts of which games sound more interesting than the rest of the game?

Owen S

Hello MinnMax crew, Which one of you has the best taste? This doesn’t have to be games related. Do any cohorts have the pallet of a sommelier, or incredible fashion sense? Please discuss.

Lewis K

Hi team, Listening to the deepest dive on AC6, someone wrote in saying that they had been playing the game so much they were dreaming about it and it reminded me of something similar. I was like 14 and I had just got Fallout 3 for my 360 and from the Friday post-school to the Sunday night I basically played it every waking second as it was my first proper console RPG experience. When I went to go to sleep on the Sunday at like 1am when I shut my eyes all I could see was the Pip Boy and the VATS HUD - I thought I was actually losing my mind. Being sleep deprived from a fat weekend of gaming and also at this point thinking I was possessed by Todd Howard himself, I got up and snapped the game disc in half thinking it would release me. It did not and I woke up Fallout 3-less the next day with no way on my 14 year old salary to get the game again until my next birthday and having to go to school on like 3 hours sleep. Has any game ever made you truly think you were losing your mind?

Matthew Porter

A while back I was walking my dog around our neighborhood, and we passed a house with a massive window looking into their living room. Naturally I looked over and on their TV was the ending to Red Dead Redemption 2. Anyway, what’s the absolute dumbest way a game has been spoiled for you?

Jacob Thompson

One of the things I love about anime is that it's a fun way to learn about something new. I've recently been watching Hajime no Ippo, and I'm enjoying it so much that I'm thinking about joining a boxing gym here in Minneapolis. Have any of you ever been inspired by a piece of media to try a new hobby? If so, how long did you stick with it?

Travis Manick

When you use the microwave, do you stand by and make sure to stop it before the Beep Beep happens or do you let it Beep Beep?

Shakenbake67

Hey Minnmaxers, I’m strolling through the grocery store and I’ve got one question on my mind. What is the candy bar that you get occasionally when standing in the check out line? For me it is definitely a king size kit jag. The best impulse candy bar in my opinion

BadgerBytes

In the music industry you often run across the concept of "deep cuts" - songs from an artist that are little known compared to the rest of their works. Are there any "deep cut" games from well known developers you particularly enjoy? For me, some I remember enjoying were "Rocket: Robot on Wheels," the N64 platformer that was Sucker Punch's first game (special shoutout to the cool red cartridge) and "Lost Kingdoms," the weird action/role-playing/card battler hybrid on the GameCube by FromSoftware

Malcolm Holliday

Hey MinnMax, what's your most and least favorite Internet UI design era/trend?

DarkFishDays

Games are often compared to with food, like a long dense game can be a full meal and an upbeat short game can be a dessert. But let’s get specific! What meal or food describes each of these games? Tears of the Kingdom Limbo Halo Infinite What Remains of Edith Finch Journey

BechamelTest

The NYT recently ran a feature on the kiki/bouba effect. Despite being two made-up words, everyone tends to agree on things being either "kiki" or "bouba". The common example used is a spiky shape is kiki, but a round shape is bouba. I have a list of words below, and I'd like to know whether the MinnMax crew can agree on whether each is kiki or bouba. (PS do we think this is where the characters Kiki and Baba came from in Baba is You?) - Kirby - Sonic - Mario - Luigi - Cloud - Dave the Diver - Cult of the Lamb - Tetris - Game Pass - Devolver Digital - Humble Bundle - Phil Spencer - Masahiro Sakurai and finally, is MinnMax as an entity kiki or bouba?

Jason Wojnar

You got any airport security or airport check-in horror stories. They just tried to charge me an extra 130 dollars for what basically was a fanny pack holding my passport and switch. Their solution was for me to put this bag inside another bag and hold several books and a bag of medication in my hand, all while I pointed out that this was way more cumbersome for everyone involved than actually leaving the tiny bag hang on me

notweirder

Hey Minnmax, in the spirit of the community game jam, I'd like to challenge you to each come up with an idea for a game in about ten seconds with this years theme, "The sky's the limit". 3..2..1...go!

UpsideDownJay

Howdy there gamers, What is a hobby completely unrelated to video games that you would love to try or have been working on? I’ve been getting into running with my dog recently and it’s been a blast! Cheers :)

Jerry Young

hey howdy hey Minnmax! Wrapping up act 2 in BG3 it has led to an internal struggle debating reloading saves. For me personally, I try to avoid reloading to change outcomes of conversations. But, when i lock myself out of quests entirely without realizing it would happen, that is where I feel a little less guilty. Was curious your thoughts on reloading save files in games like baulders gate where there is so much choice and ripple effects on the story?

Travis in Fargo

When was the last time you significantly changed up your personal style, and what did you do?

Travis in Fargo

What’s the most scared you’ve ever been?

Matt Lowery

Howdy everyone, Do any of you have any rituals or habits you do every day when you wake up? I start most of my mornings with a cup of coffee and the New York Times crossword. Love the show, thanks!

gybones

What are you planning to be for your Halloween costume this year?

Victor Pham

What's the most you've been confused by an ending to a piece of fiction? I recently rewatched the ending to Neon Genesis Evangelion and that one has to be up there with one of the weirdest endings of all time.

Devin Atlee-Nutts

Hi crew, Do you have any memorable moments when a button prompt or game UI has factored into a joke or otherwise made you laugh? Portal 2's {press [SPACE] to say "apple"}, which is actually just the jump button, and Titanfall 2's {press [X] to time travel} made me blurt laugh. And of course there's the internet favourite {press [F] to pay respects}! Which ones stand out for y'all?

John Wallace

Hi y'all, I work as a librarian and am in the process of convincing my boss that we should purchase a Switch OLED for the library to lend out to the public. My main argument is equity of access--so that anyone who may not be able to afford a console can still enjoy our library's sizable video game collection. Fingers crossed on that front, but here's my question for you all: have any of you checked out video games from your local library? PSA to listeners: go to your public library and ask about games and consoles! If the public is asking for something--helps us librarians make the case to get new things!

Emma Best

Hey cohorts! Haley mentioned on last week’s Party Chat that she was revisiting some Nancy Drew games on stream. What a throwback, I loved those as a kid! What book or book series do you think would make a great video game/game series, and what genre would it be? Also, BG3 for GOTY 🙏

Michael Berry

If you could throw an absolute rocking themed party, what would it be? My friends had a birthday party for me last year with a surprise theme, Dungeons and Denim. Everybody dressed like warriors and wizards covered in jeans and denim.

Martin Glowacki

Hey all! The NHL season is starting up this week, and I was wondering how many of you can ice skate? And if you can, do you play (or have you played) hockey? I love playing recreationally, despite considering that it has such a high barrier of entry, both skill-wise and financially. Hockey is expensive!

Victor Garcia

Hi everyone, Let's say that after you die, you find out that you can now travel as a ghost back and forth through time and view things as they play out in real time. You don't get to interact in any way, you just observe. What would be the first thing that you would go back in time to see? And also, how far into the future would you go on your first future jump?

Hayden Williams

Hey guys! IGN recently put up a piece about how the expandalone should be a bigger part of the future gaming landscape. Games would be shorter and faster to develop and I honestly would love to see it more. Games like Uncharted Lost Legacy, Miles Morales and now recently with Assassin’s Creed Mirage all are getting love for being more contained experiences vs the longer games in their series. My question what games would you like to see get this treatment? I’d personally love the next God of War to try this out. Thanks!!

claudio

What do you all think about your ability to stream games and therefor play them completely differently then MOST of your audience / general public? Seeing Sarah stream Elden Ring or Ben say he will stream BG3 so the chat can help is vastly different then how most people would interact with these games and it seems they can greatly effect your enjoyment of them. Ok thanks bye

Dusty Beaman

"What are some games that have been announced and forgotten that you wish would have come out?" Jeff M said Elden Ring and to play the tape back 3 years from now & Ben promised to play it back when Elden Ring wins all the game awards for 2021. Why didn't the clip get played for 2022? Why doesn't Jeff M get more appropriate levels of shame for his insistence that Elden Ring was never coming out? Please play the clip from The MinnMax Show on 09/16/2020 near the 1:39:10 mark and discuss

RynaGoGo

Howdy do Cohort’s, Have you ever told someone to go suck an egg? Have you ever sucked an egg!? What’s the deal with that?

Channing Potatum

I’ve been replaying Cyberpunk now that Phantom Liberty is out. If you set your controller down during an early mission, Jackie Welles will say “Ring a ding ding choom, let’s get going” exactly every 8 seconds until you proceed with the mission. Why do games do this? If a player is idle, they presumably have a good reason.

Jordan Brown

Hello! I'm currently studying for a Graphic Design Art History exam that I'm terrified of taking. What were your study tricks while in college for subjects that were way outside your wheelhouse? Thanks for doing you, Jordan from Charleston, SC

Dustin L

I know all of the cohorts are super plugged into the latest and greatest video game news, but I was wondering how well you all know the price of used video games. With most game purchases being digital nowadays, I think some of these prices may surprise you! So here's a quick over/under game! I'll give you a game and a price point - tell me if the actual price is over or under this number. Game name - over or under price - (answer w/real price from Gamefly's latest sale): Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - 29.99 (under: 27.99) Final Fantasy XVI - 39.99 (under: 34.99) Pikmin 4 - 34.99 (over: 39.99) Diablo IV - 34.99 (under: 29.99) Madden NFL 23 - 7.99 (under: 4.99) Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - 27.99 (over: 29.99) The Callisto Protocol - 14.99 (under: 9.99) The Lord of the Rings: Gollum - 12.99 (over: 14.99 Pikmin 1+2 - 29.99 (over 34.99) Wild Hearts - 19.99 (under: 17.99) Street Fighter 6 - 34.99 (under: 29.99) Long live physical media!

Hello everyone, I had to judge what games would be appropriate for girls for work one day. To me, all games are for everyone, but maybe I'm just being idealist in a heavily gendered world. What would you recommend if someone said they wanted to play games for girls?

Kraven Morcome

Hey MinnMax, To the ladies of the group, what would be your preferred girl dinner using video game foods?

Michael Griffin

Hello Minneus Maximus, With the recent announcement of the PS5 "slim", I was wondering what everyone's favorite console/handheld revisions are? Mine is probably one that I remember most fondly as a kid, the GBA SP.

David Dubs

Hey Folks! Welcome to the first annual MinnMax potluck dinner party. What is everyone's signature dishes they are bringing to the party?

Tokyo Game Life

If someone wins question of the week, trivia tower, and gets their submission picked as the Get A Load Of This, would that be considered to be the MinnMax Hat Trick? If not, what three things would make it up?

Ryan Dodson

Now that we are in the fall season, what is your favorite fall videogame tradition? Playing Madden/preferred sports game with family on Thanksgiving, playing a cozy farm simulator harvesting crops, or playing a spooky game on Halloween?

Kellogs

How many different types of mustard do you have in your fridge

Tony Mayato

Hey Minn-Max crew, I hope this question finds you dealing with the horrors of life in a fun and healthy way. Do you ever find yourself having video game ADD? Jumping between a bunch of different games, unable to find one to hold your attention? What do you do when that happens? I usually jump back to something I know I love, like Mass Effect Andromeda (don’t judge me)

Erin T.

Taking into account ALL games here, spanning the history of gaming to now - including mobile games, educational games, Cream of the Steam games, etc – do you think there are more games where adults are the *target audience* or more games where kids are the target audience? Think about it for a sec! Remember: not who actually plays them, but who the target audience is!

Parker Ridd

What is the best mid-afternoon snack to bring to the office?

Vincent L.

What is your preferred matchup for the World Series? The remaining teams at the time of asking are… AL Teams: Twins Astros Rangers Orioles NL Teams: Dodgers Diamondbacks Phillies Braves Thanks, Vince

Cath

Am I the only one that is so excited about the Animal Crossing lego set?

RickyWinterborn

Is listening to a podcast eavesdropping? And if 4 people have a conversation and record it, but do not make it publicly available, is that a podcast or just a conversation? What is real, but a mere misconception?

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey Minnmax! What's the best Halloween themed snack?

Duderado

Howdy, Who did you romance in Baldur's Gate 3 and how did it turn out? I'm a simp for Shadowheart and couldn't have been happier with her growth throughout the game, not to mention the stunning hairstyle transformation.

Jared Piers

Hello Minnmax, Do you think there exists a scenario where you could be moved to tears by a vocal performance of Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO? Is there anything that could make that happen? Thank you

Cody Allison

Hey Minnmax. Imagine an alternate reality where candy is not the treat for Halloween. What would you substitute?

Cody Allison

Hey Minnmax. Imagine an alternate reality where candy is not the treat for Halloween. What would you substitute?

BDX

What's the last written video game review you read? Why did you read it, and what did you think of it (the review, not the game)?

Hunter Short

Hello everyone! So this summer I got really into John Carpenters The Thing because of the deepest dive. Now I am listening you Hansons old podcast Highlight Twilight Zone and have really gotten into Twilight Zone because of the spooky season. Have any of you ever gotten really into a specific thing because of a podcast?

Kevin Kuper

Hello Minnmax! With technology moving faster than a console generation how long does the group think it will be before we have a playstation with removable components like a PC? Do you think this will ever be the case?

Chandler

Wow so many of you. If you were all to hang out and eat pizzas how many pizzas would you order and what would be on them?

Reid Harry

Hey Gamers, We are all trained to know that monsters drop stuff when they die. Slimes drop goo , skeletons drop bones, bokoblins drop horns, but what type of loot would YOU drop if you were slain?

Doctorok

My friends and I are starting to get into the Pokémon Trading Card Game for the first time in about a decade. This made me wonder: do any of you have a history with any trading card games? If so, when and which ones?

Joshua Ayers

Howdy Beo, Lelsey, Kaley, Heff, Jarah, and Sen: do you think the PlayStation Portal is launching in November so people don't get their first taste of Spider-Man 2 with it, and get disappointed by possible performance issues unique to the Portal? Would've been nice to jump into them together!

Bob Buel

What do you do with your miscellaneous cables and cords? I feel like I’m flooded with them with every purchase and have dozens of extras charging cables. Not counting power cords and power bricks for devices. All stuffed in a drawer? Zip tied and put in a storage tub? What’s your secret?

Juz10

Hi Minnmax, If you could have any video game character be a guest on the Minnmax show podcast, who would you want?

Onlinesquid

Hey everyone, What is the most random place you've seen a video game ad? I was watching the braves Phillies playoff game hoping both teams would lose. And on the wall behind the bullpen mound there was an add for "granblue fantasy versus rising".

Vilis

Hail and Well Met, I have to say one of the hardest things about suggesting Baldur's Gate 3 to someone is convincing them that they'll keep stumbling across amazing surprises over a hundred hours in, stuff you genuinely wouldn't expect..... but then you can't say what it is because it could be a spoiler or it's one of those things that only truly has impact because you discover it for yourself, or because it's a consequence of a choice you made 50 or 100 hours ago. So while the lead in here is BG3, my question is: do we as an internet need to get over "no spoilers!" culture? My case is that part of the marketing hype for BG3 was "Hey, if you romance this Druid... he turns into a bear and...." which would traditionally be sort of a spoiler, a thing you'd whisper about with other's in the know, but it gave it a lot of buzz instead. Also, if someone makes a different key choice, they're almost playing a different plot, so to have a conversation with someone doing an evil playthrough for a person doing a good playthough, it's impossible to not spoil something because they'll certainly say "Oh, you can do that?!" or "Wait! They can be in your party?!" I mean the BG3 Discord channel has more redactions than the Mueller Investigation.

Patrick Hughes

Ahoy MinnMax and crew! Trick or Treat? You are given a Rare Candy - The candy makes you stronger (like the equivalent of working out for a year without needing to put in the time or effort), but you would lose out on learning a life skill for the rest of your life (like swimming or dancing, something you would have planned to learn in the next year or so). Do you eat the Rare Candy?

Francisco

Hey MinnMax, what are some of the moment to moment things you think about when trying to role play as a character in a game? When I played cyberpunk 1.0, whenever I was able to, I’d try to get my character back to their apartment each night to take a shower and sleep in their bed. I found it made the game much more immersive for me!

Alex Newman

In the last couple years I’ve found HowLongtoBeat and Backloggery (a backlog tracking site) and both do these have helped make gaming a more enjoyable hobby for me. What sites, tools, apps or other resources have you all found make the hobby more enjoyable for you?

Luca Alberti

Hey crew, riding on the Alan Wake 2 hype train, I'd like to discuss whether Control was underrated back in 2019. I've been scouring trough the reviews for the game and was surprised to see how many 7s it got back then, especially because some of the complaints (the atmosphere, the gameplay and the story) are some of its strengths on my book. I recall the game running poorly on PS4 and Xbox One so that would justify a lower score but not many reviews brought up the performance, what do you think?

Mathias Jülich

Hey cohorts, in a year in which some of the best games are horror games, I’d like you to reflect: which is the most horror-y game with GOTY-level reputation? Is it the original Resident Evil 4, Half Life 2, RE2 remake, something else entirely? Have a nice and spooky October!

Devin Atlee-Nutts

Do either Ben or Leo remember the name of Leo's stealth game from last week? Codex... Something?

b_wood

Dear Justices, We all have done somethings we are not proud of. Some things we reget. Some things we wish we could have done better. However, only one of you have repeatedly committed a crime on the internet for the whole world to see. Ben Hanson (the defendant or Ben) has allegedly violated United States Code 29, subsection 631-634: The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended (the law). His constant harassment of Jeff Marchiafava (the Victim or JeffM) on the basis of the Victim's advanced age is a clear violation of the law. The defendant recorded the harassment, posted the evidence on the internet without regard to the Victim's well-being, and the defendant did so all to make more money. I am no lawyer, I just play one on the internet. So, this case might be shakey and that is why I will let Haley take over the proseution. Ben, you can defend yourself. JeffM is the star witness. Everyone else can be Justices of the Supreme Court of MinnMax (that's right, Supreme Court...there will be no appeals), asking questions when needed. If Ben is found guilty, he must never again make fun of JeffM for being old and apologize on the show (or some other sentence the Justices deem approriate).

Brandon Naegely

Hi Ben and crew, I was watching your latest episode of Cream of the Steam, in which you, Dan, and Bryan loaded up a game called Resident Fear. This game had a long, seemingly high budget FMV opening about a nuclear meltdown that had you guys questioning whether it was some strange stock footage or if it was just lifted from some movie. Guess what? It was! The movie is called Blackhat. It came out in 2015 and was directed by Michael Mann. It stars Chris Hemsworth as the world's most handsomest hacker, pulled out of prison by the CIA to help the Chinese government track down the terrorists that sabotaged the nuclear plant's computer system in exchange for his freedom. Check it out on Netflix. They literally just copy pasted the first five minutes of the movie into the game. The movie is actually not half bad. Anyway, all those steam games got me looking over my nostalgic shelf of old PC game cases. The newest one is Wolfenstein: The new order, which came out when I lived in an old rural house with garbage internet. So I'm wondering, what was the last PC game you bought a physical copy of?

CptCobblePot

You have one day to show 40 year old Miyamoto anything from our modern world. What is it? (For reference this is 3 years before he makes Mario 64)

Steve Z

Hello Minns and Maxes alike! I was recently thinking about the mythology of gaming in the pre-internet days. Before the prevalence of websites like GameFAQs or subreddits dedicated to a specific game existed, we had to rely on word of mouth to figure out the tips and tricks to find Easter eggs or unlock hidden mechanics. One of the most iconic examples of this I can think of is how everyone had a friend who swore that if you mashed/held/alternate pressed the A and/or B button in Pokemon, you could increase the success rate of your Pokeball. The one that stands out to me most is my friend group all trying to figure out the cheat code to the infamous "hot coffee" scene in GTA San Andreas. What are some of your favorite or most memorable examples of fake cheat codes or hidden levels in games?

thewholehamdamily

I've been trying to dabble into more mobile games and noticing a frustrating trend. It's a common complaint by most that it stinks buying a new game disc, putting it in your console, and then having to wait for installs and day one patches. However, I don't see many people talk about the common practice in the mobile space to have a small initial install for the app and then have to install the rest of it once you start the game. That second install can be small, but with things like Ever Crisis and TFT, it isn't insignificant. Moreover, it's always a mixed bag on if the install can happen in the background. Personally, I think it's be more appealing if I could download the full package directly from the app store. What gives? Am I alone in this frustration? Thank you all for lovely content over the years.

LlorchDurden

very very very niche but I really don't like that the lady talking to me in Forza over the radio is the same voice from Halo Multiplayer! I'm waiting for her to say "that was a good lap, *Spartan*". Is she the same voice actor? Am I going crazy? :D

Jacob Lairson

Hey Minnmax Tooins, so - the new harvest moon is good now?! At least that’s my opinion from playing it after it came out 9/26/23- but here’s the problem; after the split between developer and publisher of the harvest moon games, every single game named harvest moon has been terrible(and not from the original dev team). Online you can tell how hesitant series fans are of this release at all. No one wants more of the harvest moon shovelware we got for the past 10 years. Question: Are there any once great franchises that have become so tarnished over the years that even if they released a good one you wouldn’t believe the lunatics who think it’s good again? (Examples - Contra?/ dynasty warriors? / sim city?)

Sonny Johnson

What’s up Minnimus Maximus! If you had to spend the day in any gaming world, what would it be? I’m 100% spending the day in Kanto catching all those gen 1 Pokémon! Love the show :)

Punished Lizard

In your discussion of The Crew Motorfest, Ben had a brief tirade about Donut Media's annoying appearance. Earlier this year, they were also annoying in a Forza Horizon 5 update. It seems wild that an independent media company can appear in two directly competing games in the same year. Any thoughts on this, plus which directly competing games would the cohorts like to appear in?

Chris Mcghee

Howdy Cohorts, while playing Baldurs Gate 3 recently, I came across a game breaking bug. Luckily, I am an advocate for rotating save files and easily remedied the situation. My question is, do any of you practice good save rotation? or have you ever felt the sting of a game fully ruined by your only save file. Thanks for all you do!

Rikimaru

Hey, MinnMax! What are you favorite gaming treats? Do you change your snacking habits seasonally?
