What’s your favorite household chore? Im a dishes guy.

Cody Ficker

If your favorite video game was a fizzy soda pop or energy drink, what flavor would it be?

Steve Bellegarde

What are your policies on skipping dialogue in games? I used to be extremely hardline about never skipping anything. But as I get older, And my attention span gets shorter, I find that I will often skip through boring dialogue. Usually side quests in JRPGs. I still never skip cutscenes.

VMEArcana (Very Much Earthed Arcana)

Hey Minnmax, Since FF7 Rebirth is the talk of the town this week, I've been thinking about this hypothetical. The original FF7 was a big enough game to warrant being split up into multiple games for a new generation… This has me wondering if you could remake a title into multiple modern games, which game would you choose to expand in a FF7 remake style?

Jesse Eberenz

What’s one game you’ll never uninstall from your console or PC? For me, Halo Master Chief Collection. I go back to it pretty frequently for fun multiplayer shenanigans!

Bloody Waffle

BEN! Why is it so hard for you to be THIRSTY for pixels?! Explain.

John Eirich

Hello Ben and Horts!! Who is an NPC with little to no dialogue or story you are super fond of? Mine is the Bartender in St Denis from RDR2- thats my dude!

gybones

What’s the highest number you’ve ever counted to and why? I recently had to individually count railroad ties for work and the highest number I had to go up to was 720

Malcolm Holliday

Hey MinnMax, if you were a Team of Powe Rangers what color would you be? What Megazord would you have and would y'all have a unified theme?

Travis in Fargo

My kids’ school is cancelled today due to a blizzard, so we’re going to play video games and D&D, and then go play in the snow. What did you like to do on a snow day/unexpected day off as a kid?

Mike Lynch

You all do great work standing out as individual voices in your field.  But is there one thing about your shows/videos/podcasts that you actively try to keep status quo? Maybe because that one particular thing works so well for most everyone?

Catpurrnicus

Do you think if the human race ever masters space travel they will still use same calendar and 24 hour day? Since we won't be using the rotation of the Earth to tell time, how would you prefer the day to look? Make a day 26 hours so you get extra sleep?

notweirder

Hey minnmax, whats the last album you've listened to?

Dragonhunter

So it happened. I'm part of the problem. I bought the like a dragon booster pack for 10 dollars to level up my characters for the final boss. I saved this final encounter for friday night and thought today I finish this game. So I go through the final building which took me 1 hour and to my surprise the boss was a few levels higher than me, he was immune to most of my abillities and took half my life away with one attack. I lost and thought "damn, guess I need to rank up some other jobs and go through the dungeon to level up some more" but I really didn't want to anymore. I was ready to finally finish it after 90 hours so I thought "f it I just buy the damn boosters and be done with it". Beat the boss watched the final scenes and deleted the game. So my question is, did you ever gave in to the temptations of microtransactions that make the game easier in some kind of way?

Kevin Kuper

Hello Minnmax! I've found with RPGs the second playthrough is so much better. You have a basic understanding of the world, how to play, what to look for, and how to level up. I replayed the Witcher 3 recently and it was an entirely different experience as I played on hard and actually used the oils and potions I completely ignored in my original playthrough making me actually feel like a witcher. Is there any game that you gained a better appreciation for on the second playthrough? Thanks!

Obruni

When I was a child, my parents would often take my youngest siblings shopping with them whilst the older kids stayed at home. We would always ask our parents to buy a game for us when they went out and they, of course, rarely did. However, on the occasions they did they would let the younger siblings pick the game. This method of game selection led to some awful choices (movie tie-ins) and some great ones (Mario Golf GC and Downhill Domination PS2) as my siblings were too young to recognise the hallmarks of a good game. What is the best/worst game that someone with no video gaming knowledge has bought for you?

Voivod McGarnagle

(Trying not to dwell on depressing layoff news) Hey gang, what’s the best way to crack an egg?

Chandler

Hi Minnmax I'm sorry for your loss, blake, but your layoff announcement made me laugh. Hope things work out for you My question for this week is : What's the first video game merch you can remember owning? Any video game related item that's not a game itself or console

SlyCut

Hello all, You can choose one. The ability to travel to and explore distant galaxies. The ability to travel to different time periods. (No changing, just observing) Which do you choose?

NonBinaryBomb

What's one way that a video game has led you to make a positive impact in your community?

Joseph Horak

do you think it’s called pokémon legends Za because it’s about smoking zaza and seeing the framework of existence?

Christian Jimenez

Hello, Who's the tallest MinnMax member? Haley recently mentioned she was 5'10 on a stream recently (PT one) and got me wondering. Can you all make a composite image line-up style having all the members line up minimum to maximum height?! Thanks.

Veggie

Hollywood has just signed a multi-million dollar deal to produce "Minnmax: The Games Friends Getting Better Story," a major motion picture based on the iconic podcast of the same name. Which big time actors and actresses do they cast to play which cohorts, and why?

Chris Fennessy

Hey y’all, first time long time! With Pokémon on the mind, what Pokémon would be your starter based on your personality? Mine would be Psyduck because I’m a little bumbling but can do great things when I put my mind to it. Don’t restrict yourself to the starters from the games!

Hieronymus Josh

What’s the deal with mousepads? Is it a sin to use the mouse directly on the desk? Asking for a friend.

Kraven Morcome

Hey MinnMax, Haley, I hope you've been enjoying yakuza Like a Dragon! If you have the time I recommend trying to beat the final-final dungeon. It requires your party to all be level 99, their main job to be 99, and all of their other jobs need to be at least 30. It is definitely challenging but it is the most rewarding thing I've done in gaming this year. Also, you probably want to get straight to infinite wealth but I strongly recommend LAD Gaiden first. I got the Platinum in 20 hours so it's little time commitment for big payoff.

Kenny Solorio

Considering the major console companies are gearing up for a next gen launch I think it’s time we start thinking about who “won” this console generation between XBOX, Sony, Nintendo, and hell I’ll even throw Steam into it. Who do you think won this generation? What criteria do you base it off of. For me personally, I think Nintendo Switch showed everyone up when it came to banger after banger from the hardware and software side. Though not the strongest hardware, I see friends and family clamoring for a switch 1st, then ps5 2nd, and Xbox last. Steam deck seems to be great but I don’t use one so feel free to give your thoughts on this as well. Thanks!

Travis in Fargo

After seeing all the issues with Helldivers 2, do you think Arrowhead should have retroactivity said the game is in early access, just so people had a fair warning about the server/performance issues?

CaffeineDad

Hey gang! The only Pokemon news I want this week is a definitive answer to this question: what is your favorite Pokemon and why? Like, if Pokemon were real, who would be your partner, your best bud, your iconic "this is a representation of me" Pokemon? Mine is Alolan Ninetales because it's just so majestic and classy-looking, and I aspire to be as cool as it is!

Spencer Botine

Hey gang, Do you and your partners or friends have a particular joke/gag that you find endlessly hilarious, but others would probably find very stupid? My wife and I will break out into exaggerated, provocative grinding to songs way out of left field, e.g. The Great British Baking Show intro theme song. Happy FFVII Rebirth release week

Qax

Hey gamers, I haven't played pokemone since ruby and sapphire and I wonder what it would take to being me back. What would pokemon need to add for you to be invested in the series again?

Shane C

What is the most ridiculous or out-of-order way you have approached a video game series or other franchise? When Advent Children came out, I watched it with a friend despite never having played Final Fantasy VII. I still have absolutely no idea what happened in that movie and I suspect I never will.

Aron Roberts

Yo folks-- This morning (Tuesday), Playstation just announced 900 layoffs from their development studios. I'm a game developer at Xbox, and we just had a major layoff announcement just a month and a half ago, not to mention the wider MSFT / Xbox layoffs that happened at the beginning of last year. A buddy of mine works at Playstation, and it seems like the corporate axe only just barely missed him, as some of the coworkers who he works with regularly just learned that they've been laid off. It's beginning to feel real scary working in this industry, and with the biggest developers and publishers prioritizing live services and franchises over creative storytelling and new IP, it's becoming harder and harder for me to understand the decisions being made by big game companies. I'm wondering from your perspectives as games media people--is this the worst state of health that the industry has ever been in? Has there ever been a period of time with just as many layoffs? And are you all hopeful that things will turn around? I'm a chronic optimist, so I'd like to think that eventually developers and publishers will learn that sustainable workplace environments and creative content are the backbone for a successful business, and we'll all live in a happy wonderland where we always have awesome games to play, and nobody loses their jobs anymore. What do y'all think? PS--Strange to feel this way when over the last 12-14 months when we've had the most layoffs ever, we've also had some of the greatest games released ever. Cheers!

Joshua Ayers

Hey Minstrels, I've played Balatro a literal day (24 hours) since getting it Saturday night. I do have a problem, first game I've ever liked more than sleep. What's the most you've ever played a single game in a week?

Victor Pham

Do you follow an itinerary while on vacation? Or just take the day as it comes?

lumberjack

Hey MinnMax! What’s the word on yogurt water? Specifically, what do you do with the water that accumulates at the top of yogurt after it’s been in the fridge for a day or two? Do you whip it back into the main body of the yogurt? Or do you pour it out in the sink? I usually whip it back into the yogurt because it’s the whey, which contains most of the protein in yogurt. However, I recently learned that my fiancé pours it out into the sink. There’s been quite the debate in my household about this.

David Tibble

Hi Minnmax! Is there a music genre or artist you are now a fan of because of a video game? I’m going a HEALTH concert next month because I became a huge fan of them thanks to Max Payne 3 (they composed that game’s score).

dvader501

Minnsnackers, have you ever had a plate of food arrive and have to take a good minute to figure out how best to get it in your mouth? I got a fried chicken sandwich the other night and received a slice of bread buried under a gigantic chicken breast, at least half a jar of pickles dumped on top, and the other piece of bread off to the side because they knew eating this like an actual sandwich was impossible.

Cody Allison

Penny's big breakaway unlocked a memory for me. In my elementary school we would have an annual assembly where people would do cool tricks with yoyos and they'd also sell Duncan yoyos to the students. I can't remember if there was any academic purpose for this. And it's a thing that I've never heard anyone from neighboring school districts experience. Any examples of a weird school assembly you experienced? Or did I just go to school in crazy town.

Alex Britt

Sup Cohorts! What was a weird food or snack you ate as a kid? Would you eat that snack today?

Nate Voris

Always awesome to have Blake on the pod! Considering that he is on with the esteemed members of Thirst Council, does Blake have any video game crushes? Also, shout out to his Silent Hill 2 opinion piece a couple months ago and Something Rotten! Even if the SH2 remake is terrible, is Blake looking forward to the discussion/comparisons/analysis when it releases?

Ariel in Seattle

Which defunct Nintendo features would you like to see return on the Switch 2 and why? Virtual console, double-screen, themes, MiiVerse, 3D screen, Everybody Votes Channel, etc. I want the return of StreetPass because it is so spontaneous and social IRL.

Michael Berry

There is no question from me, but I wanted to highlight that Die Gute Fabrik, a Danish game developer, is halting all production and closing their doors. They created one of my favorite local multiplayer games, Sportsfriends, as well as one of my favorite PS Minis, Where is My Heart. Please send them some love and support. I highly recommend Sportfriends. They could potentially reopen their doors and resume production should the company find future funding. P.S. I actually caught wind of this because of the community G.A.L.O.T. Neill Smith brought this to my attention.

Ian Miller

Hi MinnMax Gang! I'm afraid of another gaming crash, not unlike that of 1983. As the years have matched on, we've seen record breaking sales and games achieving top critical acclaim, yet there's been cascading layoffs and studio closures. In 1983, shovelware games grew so oversaturated that it became impossible for the consumer to separate the wheat from the chaff, and the market crashed. I fear something similar today, but the inverse. Many larger first party and AAA studios have ballooned in budgets and development time to a degree that it's almost impossible for 'success' to be uttered in the same sentence. I fear a crash of subversion, wherein the biggest budgeted studios won't be able to continue existing, leaving wake for only AA and indie games. What do you think? Are we approaching a video game Great Depression? Am I being too dramatic? I would love to hear your thoughts! Toodles y'all, Ian

Zeth Hillman-Johnson

What's a piece of clothing you own that you wish you could wear more often?

Eric Dowdy

Greetings cohorts! Today my brother sent me a screenshot of a Geoff Keighley twitter (X) post where he shared that Game Scent Ai has been announced. Keighley says it is a sophisticated Ai that releases scents alongside your gameplay including smells of gunfire, explosions, racing, storms, and smells of the forest with dlc scents of napalm, human exertion, the ocean, and golf courses to be added later. That got us wondering, what would be the best smelling game that you would want to play with Game Scent? Would you try for something delicious like a cooking simulator or overcooked, something that would peek your curiosity like Donkey Kong 64 for a matted fur and banana mix, or would you go for the weird and boot up Leisure Suit Larry? Thanks for everything!

John Scovic

Wendy's announced it's going to be testing out "surge pricing" like Uber and Lyft has, where menu items will cost more when they're in higher demand. What would be the absolute worst thing to have surge pricing?

BobaFets

No question just wanted to shout out Janet's prediction that a Switch successor would not launch in 2024. I think across various outlets she might have been the sole voice on this prediction. Looks like she's correct which legally would make her the owner of Minnmax I believe.

Derek Achoy

If you had to triple the sensitivity of one of your senses, which one would it be?

Sam Kennedy

How many ants do you think you could beat in a fight?

LlorchDurden

Since Blake Hester is the guest and Sarah is on this episode, What is Game Informer?

Aging_Poorly

Hi Ben, Sarah, and the Game Query reunion! Blake, I’m a huge fan of Louisville - hugely underrated city. I recommend it to people all the time. Cohorts, what’s the most recent “deep-ish cut” (city, restaurant, game, movie, or whatever) that blew away your expectations so much that you couldn’t stop recommending it to people?

Lamb Dance

(Not a question for the show, but sometimes I look at these images of the Iam8Bit Prize and think "That's pretty neat... but what game or show is this from?" Be helpful if you wrote the name of the product there.)

Ken H (Kenny2Slice)

Capcom recently held their Capcom Cup to crown the yearly champion for Street Fighter. The winner was awarded 1,000,000 dollars. Following the closing match, the show runners chose to interview 2nd place mere moments after they had lost out on a million dollars. What would your reaction be to having a microphone placed in front of you after missing out on such a large prize?

BEEFCAKE

Do you have any questions for me?

Tommy Carver-Chaplin

Gamers, when was the last time you had to slide through a tight gap at less than walking speed like you were loading something on the other side?

errribbb

Quick context: Haley and Janet on bonus pod had a discussion about Gordon Ramsey and how he did Hotel Hell but wasn’t a hotel person. He actually started in hospitality and hotels before becoming a chef. He also wanted to be a professional football player before a career ending injury.

Hayden Williams

Hey y’all!! If you could enter someone’s home and just throw and break things for money like Link, what everyday object are you breaking first?

Thom Blackburn

Did Blake like Norco? Because he should like Norco

Actual jeff bezos

Hi cohorts and Blake! I'm curious, which can you handle better: scary movies or scary video games. I think Blake talked a bit about this on Something Rotten, but now I want to know about the rest of y'all. Also, loved watching Sarah and Haley play PT!!!! Loving everything MinnMax is doing lately, keep up the good work.

RickyWinterborn

Sorry about GI Blake, welcome to MinnMax as a full time paid cohort, looking forward to the exit interview. What movie would you want to see Rockstar make a game out of similar to the ps2 Warriors game? My pick is Gangs of New York.

Phelix Diaz

What is the most trivial thing that has caused you the most irrational anger?

James Gameboy

I know I'm a couple weeks late, but a game I bought on a whim that dare I say changed my life was Custom Robo for the Gamecube. The art and description on the box was enough to sway me, and then I loaded it up and discovered an interesting story, hilarious dialogue, and perhaps my favorite video game soundtrack of all time.

Bob Buel

Whats the weakest Pokémon that would be able to defeat Mike Tyson in his prime in a fight? #HireBlake #NeverStopSniping

Geoff Enright

Hey MinnMax'ers, So, what gaming QoL mechanic needs to be in nearly all games. Instant Travel from Spider-Man 2, screen grabs from Prince of Persia, or something else? I think the two already mentioned would help plenty of games and not just the genre's we are seeing them in. Plenty of games have large worlds to explore and a screen pin can easily help you remember what you need to do when you go back. -Groffles

John Filipowicz

If you could spend a day as a fly on that wall in a game studio where would you choose ?

Zane Dukes

Why is there not a stronger unionization movement in the games industry given the constant churn and mistreatment of talent? What can consumers do to help advocate for fairer conditions and contracts? Do outlets fear retribution from PR firms if they discuss ongoing mistreatment of workers by management?

Mark Garcia

With the success of Balatro and with so many studios releasing rogue like or lite version of their game(s), is there a genre of game that hasn’t gotten the rogue like/lite treatment that you would like to see? I feel it has been too long since we had a good vehicular combat game, and it might lend itself nicely to the rogue lite treatment.

Luca Alberti

Being a Pokémon fan that has grown detached from the series today I cheered when it was announced that Z-A would launch in 2025 because it means all Game Freak teams get one extra year of time to cook. Are there other franchises that you'd like to take a break to improve on future games?

Galexzzz

Hey MinnMax crew! Hope your day is going well! With all the excitement surrounding FFVII Rebirth and people bringing up their favourite memories from playing the original as a kid, it got me thinking about formative single player games in childhood. There are plenty of people who grew up with the original FFVII being their game with how it defined so much of their early gaming days. But in today’s landscape of kids playing games, those mostly seem dominated by multiplayer/live service games like Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft. Are there still formative single player games kids are playing these days, and if so what are they? And if not then do you think that is an experience that’s been lost nowadays?

Troy Ellison

Hey Ben, the CLCs and Blake: there was a new ai product announced today that is marketed as having the ability to generate "smells" based on your gameplay. Is this the worst of the 5 senses media can try to immerse you in? I don't think I've ever seen a game, TV show or movie and thought "man I wish I could smell that". Taste is a close runner up but I feel like there are less instances I feel like taste would apply

Allen Brown

Last week someone wrote in asking about games that you picked up at a whim, and while it got overshadowed by shower talk, it stood out to me as it's how I found my favorite game of all time, Final Fantasy Tactics. I'm curious what impressions you all had of your favorite games before you'd actually had a chance to play them?

Catpurrnicus

It seems like from the last few episodes that most of the MinnMax crew doesn't have a lot of Poker experience. New Show Plus idea, MinnMax Poker Night. I think Red Dead Online has Poker functionality.

Stephen Woodson

Howdy MinnMax, Helldivers 2 became a hit after transitioning from a 2D series to a 3rd person shooter. Some other series/developers that had success going from a 2D game to a 3rd person shooter are Risk of Rain 2, and Housemarque with Returnal. Have we ever seen the opposite, where a developer or series found more success by moving from 3D to 2D? Cheers! -Stevo

Sinclair Britton

Hi Ben and the CLC’s… with the Switch 2 on the horizon, I have been thinking a lot about the Switch and its sales numbers. By the end of 2023 the Switch had sold roughly 140 million units. While this is an impressive number, it is often only compared to other Nintendo HOME consoles. For comparison, the Wii sold approx 101 million units, but for its whole lifespan the Nintendo DS also existed. The DS alone sold 154 million units during this time, and for the last few years of the Wii’s lifespan, the 3DS also existed. That’s 264 million Nintendo devices sold during the Wii’s lifespan (combining home and handheld device numbers). The Switch, on the other hand, existed for only 3 years before the 3DS was discontinued… leaving it as Nintendo’s sole handheld AND home console. So my question is: Is it fair to say that the Switch is so successful, when it’s only being compared to the sale of other home consoles, when in fact it should be compared to the numbers of console AND handheld devices that were being sold in any given generation? Sinclair Gold Coast Australia

Lamb Dance

Hey gang - do you guys drink milk? Is drinking milk as an adult normal? I drink milk with my breakfast everyday, but I noticed in reactions to the Pokemon Presents many people saying it was weird the guy in that one ad was drinking milk.

HaulingGas

Hi Blake, sorry about the news. GI has lost a great writer. Does this mean that now you can make a Something Rotten episode about GameStop? Wish you all the best!

Catpurrnicus

Hey all, when a book gets made into a movie they'll sometimes release a copy with the actors on the cover. Does this get you more excited to read it? "Oh, Hugh Jackman is in this book!"

Michael Gibler

Happy False Spring MinnMax! What are all of your experiences with RuneScape? I remember sometime last year Sarah mentioned that she was into RuneScape when younger, and anecdotally I know a lot of people around my age (30) were and/or are really into the game. Did you guys miss the boat on RuneScape? What are your experiences with it? I think its unique in the MMO world in that it has a quite sizable free component. You can (and I did) spend hours just playing the free experience that game had to offer. The other standout thing about RuneScape is that the quests are actually bespoke, RPG-ish stories. They aren't your typical MMO fodder of "Kill 10 Wolves" or whatever. I got back into Old School RuneScape (OSRS), which is a relaunch of the game just as it was in 2008, a couple years ago. I have been using it as my go to stationary bike game, as it has a surprisingly fantastic mobile version. OSRS is still supported as well, getting new quests, areas, and even its first new skill in over 17 years this year! I'd love to hear any of your experiences with the game! Thanks for everything you all do. I love listening to everyone each week, and try to get Sarah on the show more! Michael from Iowa

Hale and Hearty Hello to y'all. I found a fun idea recently and thought I'd pose it to y'all as a Question: You enter a bar where you can only order drinks which are video game references, but also clearly a drink, so what do you order? My choice was Mogarita! Be good have fun let's gooooooo!!

Travis in Fargo

What’s something you inexplicably adore?

Stevelution

Hey Ben and cohorts. The recent chat two weeks ago between Ben and Jacob on Bonus Pod (definitely not Party Chat) touched on success and what that means for MinnMax and the conclusions were really encouraging. But it got me thinking, how do you measure success for each of yourselves and what does it mean for you?

Daniel Doran

So, you guys closing containers or boxes of food items in the kitchen cabinet? I’m talking about hot chocolate, oatmeal, cereal, granola bars, etc. I was in a rush and I left a container like this open in the cupboard and I felt bad about it.

Ollie Clay

Hey everybody! What is a moment in your life that you wish you had a photo or video of? A memorable time with a loved one? Proof of something that you KNOW happened for a fact but no one believes you? The moment you beat Elden Ring???

Spencer Jenson

Hey howdy hey Minnmax! It's no Mewtwo, but the Pokemon company announced how we can sleep with the legendary Pokemon raiku. What other Pokemon apps would you like to see the Pokemon company make a 2-3 minute trailer for that we don't need?

Jake Magilligan

Hey MinnMax! Love the recent podcasts featuring food service workers describing customer orders! I have a drink to add to the running list of bad food orders… At Dunkin’ Donuts the standard amount of cream and sugar for a medium cup of coffee is 3 for each. Well, everyone has their own way to make it of course, but I’ve seen as much as a large coffee with 16 cream, 16 caramel swirl and the kicker was a light amount of ice. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen something other than khakis that specific shade of beige.

Shakeel Ahmed

Hey all, my question for you is, how on earth do you juggle playing multiple long-form video games, in particular JRPGs?! I am currently 3/4 of the way through Tears of the Kingdom, and I've been playing it lots since launch, but now with FF7 Rebirth on the way, I need to keep up with that (to stay in the Deepest Dive convos ofc ;)). Moreover I am around 50 hours into Persona 5 and I've been playing that for the last 6 years and am not even 25% of the way through! Love the show, new Patreon supporter here, much love and keep up the fun and amazing content :)

Andrew Molnar

What are some of the things in video games that give you the best feelings? For example, playing a Metroidvania and finally getting that double-jump that allows you to explore way more of the map.

Blazinnoah

What is the best Bar to ever appear in a video game? I'm going with the Revolve Bar from Yakuza.

Fatt Mish

Hi MinnMax friends. In the late 90s and early 2000s, as my friends and I got comfortable using the internet, we always found new and fun things to discover. We researched games, movies, music, celebrities and more on dot-com websites. Nowadays we use the internet in a lot of different ways with social media, gaming, streaming shows and movies, and more, but it doesn't feel quite the same? Do you all think that our utilization and ease of access to the internet mostly more positive than it was 20 years ago or is it too hard to gage? Thanks for the wonderful show. Mars, from MN.

FinalSin

What is the worst game you have played with the best ending ? Or best game with the worst ending?

Trapezoid

Should the game awards have two separate music categories: one for orchestral score and one for “chiptune” soundtracks? I’ve been playing Sea of Stars recently, and the music in that game is absolutely unreal, but I feel like it would never have a chance to win any type of (well deserved) award when up against the scores of things like Final Fantasy 16 and Tears of the Kingdom.

Catpurrnicus

With Xbox putting their games on other platforms, do you think we'll see the heads of the companies trading games to put on each other's game passes? Say Sony trades all the Spider-Man games for Indiana Jones and Elder Scrolls 6. Or do you think they'll be lame and want money?

Taylor Clark

Hey minnmaxers place my favorite something rotten cohost! Ive been really busy with life recently so things are fighting for my spare time could you convince me to play games again. Remind me why you all love games.

BearCommando

Were you all surprised that Pokemon Go wasn’t announced for the Apple Vision Pro? What improvements besides the standard “more Pokémon added” are needed to breathe life back into the game for the masses? With the money they’ve brought in and the continual improvements in smartphones I feel like they could do anything with the game.

Crayter

Hello there MinnMax, and no other podcast. Crayter here, first time, long time, and I have a quick Query if I may: When and how did you notice "being a gamer" change from being a shunned, social crippling label, to being a good thing, or at least more socially acceptable? Or is this Query based on a false premise and I'm leaning on your platform to help reinforce my cognitive dissonance about my place in society? I'll take my answer off air. Thanks, Crayter

Franciscus

Hello Blake, friend of the show here, I just wanted to ask what is your favorite Uwe Boll movie? Mine is obviously BloodRayne starring Ben Kingsley and Meat Loaf. Stay well and stay cool.

PhillyYeetSteak

Missed joke opportunity: on the previous episode, after comparing the production values of ff7 rebirth and Like a Dragon, jacob said ff7 had "infinite money" when he obviously should have said "infinite wealth"

Pokemon's recent tweet about Legends ZA says coming to "Switch systems," so I assume it will be cross-gen. At this point I think it's safe to assume Metroid Prime 4 will be as well. Do you think Nintendo will go the Xbox route of having all their games release for both Switch/Switch 2 for the first few years or do you think there will actually be a cutoff point in 2025 where Switch 1 will be left behind? https://twitter.com/Pokemon/status/1762485535560368544

Heya cohorts! Back in October of last year, an indie RPG called In Stars and Time released, which has now become my retroactive GOTY after beating it earlier this month. What baffles me, though, is that this game seems to be completely flying under the radar -- I've seen next to no one else talking about this game. What's a game you love that you think more people should have talked about when it released?

Hey, Minnfolk! Last week, Ben’s GALOT mentioned Nebraska’s highest honorary title is Admiral. That has to be one of the most ironic things I have ever heard, because Nebraska is actually the only triple landlocked state in America. Someone is probably still laughing that they managed to pulled that off.

Hi beautiful people! I’ve been throwing myself at the Splatoon 3 single player DLC over the last week, its roguelite Side Order expansion is just so addictive and refreshing. Can’t stop playing! Have any of you tried it out for yourselves? Do you even have time for a ‘live service’ game like Splatoon on the side these days?

Was looking at thirst council recently and, though not from a video game, it brought back this old memory of my first crush as a confused 8 year old. It was Sally Acorn from the Sonic cartoon. A bit embarrassing now but question for all what have been some of your confused child crushes?

Blake Hester had Come and See on movies he watched in 2023. I would love to hear his thoughts on it. If this looks like Deja Vu, it's because I also asked Javy the same question when he was on here ages ago. It's one of the best movies I have ever seen, though my impression of it has been tainted by some personal experiences.

Hey MinnMaxVonSydow, I've got Beef (or Boeuf for our Democracy-deficient cohort to the North) The recent Pokemon Presents was a huge success! If by "huge success" I meant "It continued to throw gasoline on the fire that is my burning hatred for modern 3D Pokemon models!" I don't want to sound like an old man by saying "back in my day...." so I'll type it instead. Back in my day Pokemon designs were dynamic! They had edge! They were lovingly crafted, not these soft, textureless Pocket Pals we've had for too many generations! I don't expect Gamefreak to stick with the immaculate 2D designs from the days of yore, and for a while, we had a solid compromise. But look at the in-game art for almost any 1st through 3rd gen pokemon, and compare it to those presented on Tuesday, and ask yourselves, Do any of you really prefer these depthless designs that have removed all sense of life from our precious Pocket Monsters? Or am I a dumb dumb baby who still buys every mainline entry despite my Beef? Now where did I set my readers. . . .

Hey everyone, with relatively unknown games palworld and heldivers 2 having massive steam concurrent player counts what is your prediction for when GTA 6 is released on steam will it break the internet ?

Question for Haley! Back in January we saw Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition being de-listed from Steam and Spec Ops: The Line being de-listed from all platforms due to licenses expiring. (Sources are Wario64 & Stephen Totilo) In the wake of recent discussion online about physical vs digital content and the growing concern over just how much ownership we have over the digital media we buy I was hoping for some clarification on the specifics of the term "game license" and just how much of the games we buy do we actually own. When we buy a license for a game do we "own" our copy as a layman would see it? Is the term "license" mostly just to state that the developer/publisher still holds ownership over the files and creative content they made for the game, etc. or is it more sinister and can a digital game we already bought be revoked from our game library at the company's whim? With physical media becoming less common, DRM-free digital seems like the most hopeful way forward for ownership and preservation in the future. (Yay GoG!)

Hey guys, sad about the layoffs in a YouTube chat some of us got to asking. Does anyone have a grasp on what exactly is causing AAA development to go up so much? How does Ghosts get made for 60 million but Horizon is 200+? Aren't improvements in game engines like UE5 supposed to make development easier and more efficient? Are there any good deep dives into the issue you've heard or come across?

What is your biggest video game heartbreak? Meaning, what game were you highly anticipating, only for it to completely disappoint and underwhelm? Mine is Anthem. I waited for years for that game, held out hope, played through the choppy launch, went through all the stages of grief before eventually leaving it behind as a bad memory.

Hi cool people! What are your thoughts on narrative choices, specifically in regard to endings? In general, I'm of the mind that unless it is a deep RPG or immersive sim with layered narrative choices, I prefer when a game has a singular ending. I feel like there was a trend in the late 2000's and early 2010's where every game felt an obligation to have multiple endings despite its design or writing conflicting with that "obligation." Usually in those instances, I found the multiple endings to all be unsatisfactory and would prefer to see the creator's vision more clearly. I've got more thoughts, but I want to know yours!
