S3 is a real step up in the villains they are against. Father Hughes is in a different league of horribleness, he is a catholic priest who likes to set up after hours visits to the childrens orphanages........ read it into that what you want. Tommy already knows that thats why he has a hatred for him already. Poor Arthur, he has Linda a religious woman who is trying to get him to realise that this life is not good. But Arthur is like a caged animal you can cage him for a while but not for ever. The brothers are very diferent Tommy the brains who keeps everything bottled up and is very driven. Arthur, who is the muscle but wears his heart on his sleeve and very emotional. John a bit inbetween the muscle but not much compassion and not the smartest. You have to remember that John was going to marry Lizzie in S1 and i think he is jealou of her with Angel Changretta and so his jealous rage gets the better of him. Hold on to your hat this season is a rough ride.
