I heard some interesting things about Fairy Tail, don't know if it regarded the fandom or the show itself. Is it any good?

It's got a diverse array of colorful and creative characters, interesting powers, and a lovely world. Most character arcs are pretty solid, and most of the plot is very interesting. There's an abundance of fan service and "the power of friendship", but if that doesn't detract for you then it's fine. The fights are mostly well animated, though they rely more heavily on "action within a static shot" cuts than actual combat in several seasons. The earliest seasons feature beautiful magic circles that become almost nonexistent later on, and the colors will have a period of desaturation unfortunately, but it's more to play up a storybook palette I guess. In summary, big boobs, good butts, cute girls, hit guys, cool powers, weirdos and freaks aplenty, and pretty solid voice work in dub and sub. It's not the best, but it has some merit.
