At the end of the tunnel, there is a....

That almost looks like an egg or something. The classmates do not seem that impressed. But luckily Tomo is respectful enough to start praying

any idea how far they've been swimming and how long they've been holding their breath?

And how long they need to pray? It looked like someone couldn't hold on anymore

And I wonder what are those light spots in the background start from SakiTomo 14?

It’s just one long tunnel? That’s a bit underwhelming. Though I suppose some of the deeper shrines probably have more twists and turns. I wonder: are all of the shrines set up inside caves, or is there at least one shipwreck that the maiden’s have laid claim to? It could be exciting having to navigate a maze of corridors to reach the deepest part of the ship, and could be an additional reason why Saki seems to like exploring them so much on top of looking for her father. Also: really Saori? You’re going to let an eight year old show you up? For a swim team captain you’re certainly not good at holding your breath. It would be nice to have a time ticker to tell us exactly how long Saki needs to pray for. I’m expecting a large exhale at the end too.

That would have been cool to see. But I wonder if having a ship wreck as a shrine would be a good long term solution. Especially in salt water where corrosion happens. I have heard that the Titanic wreck has collapse completely because of that. Also I think that Tomo is 10 or 11 years old so not 8, but I get your point. Even if Saori could just look underwhelmed rather being so low on air

He’s eleven. But Saki was eight when she first made it through here. So I was comparing Saori to an eight year old Saki. We don’t know how tough it was for her, and Saori could still impress here, but right now she’s not stacking up favorably to a little girl. Tomo, for his part, has had plenty of distractions on this dive (more than anyone else) but seems to be hanging in there just fine. As for the shipwreck, all the shrine maidens, and certainly the priestesses, are well trained underwater. It wouldn’t be that much of a stretch for them to take a trip down with building materials or something, simply to shore up the structure of the vessel.

Ok fair enough and yeah we don’t know how much young Saki did struggle. Would love to see a drawing of that in the future thru. Also Saki comes from a shrine maiden background with her mother being one of the best freedivers to date. So comparing her to a “random” classmate might not be that fair. As not everyone is a master freediver. I’m not against the idea of using a shipwreck as a shrine. I would love that for the same reasons as you have already pointed out <3
