Yeah but it was implied she did that because she still liked the captain and panicked, at least that’s how it read to me Either way it looks like Eri is struggling to hold in her breath and is fairly deep down, surely she definitely won’t overdo it like she tends to do. I wonder if she has a spotter?

My reading of the story was closer to Eri being flustered by a marriage offer that kind of came out of nowhere. In order to dodge answering she claimed she was in a relationship with Ken. I’ll admit, it’s incredibly jarring that a guy, even one who Eri has history with, who hasn’t really been present at all in the story suddenly proposes. So that might have turned Eri off to him completely.
