Y'know I don't think we've had a podcast with this much swearing in it since Issue 100 of The Cane and Rinse podcast so best not listen to this in the car whilst taking the little 'uns to the grandparents or something. Surprised Jay had such a negative reaction to Spiderman 2. I let the story wash over me, its inherently a bit silly. I also went back to HFW recently and had a more positive reaction

As soon as Jay said he disagreed with the somewhat muted reaction to The Bear season 3, I needed to comment! I loved season 3 and did not fully buy into the critic or fan feedback! Anyway! I shall listen onward.

We really loved the Rise/Dawn/War of the Planet Of The Apes films in our house, it's one of the very few series all four of us really enjoyed. We were going to watch Kingdom at the cinema but never got round to it so caught up with it on Disney Plus when it came out. Honestly, we were all really disappointed with it. The kids even got bored and just wandered off halfway through. I do wonder if we'd have enjoyed it more at the cinema where there's no choice but to concentrate on the film, but I think it lacked everything that was good about the 'original' trilogy, which was a shame.

It's was interesting listening to the contrast of opinions between Spiderman 2 and Golden Idol. While I've not played Spiderman 2, these overbloated collectathon "go here, do a thing" open world borefests have run my patience dry as well. These days I'm drawn to the small scope, "finish in a weekend but still worth my attention" experiences. Strange Horticulture is a great companion piece to Golden Idol, if you still want to get over your deduction itch. Or you should go see a doctor.

Jay's rant about Spider Man 2 was amusing. I couldn't disagree with anything he said, despite enjoying the game. I think it helped that I'd only played the first game once when it came out and never played Miles Morales. There was zero evolution from the first game, it was the very definition of 'more of the same'. The story wasn't interesting but the combat and traversal kept me going and I ended up doing all side missions. One thing Jay mentioned was that at least you didn't have to catch pigeons in the sequel. Haha, I can only assume he didn't do the side missions where you're catching the drones 😆

Eh, 28 Days Later is only in 480p? I have it in a double pack bluray with the sequel. I'll have to rewatch it and see if it really does look so rough. (Also, I really ought to listen to the whole show before replying and consolidate all my comments in to one reply instead of replying every time I hear something I want to comment on haha 😆)

One more thing on spiderman 2. The devs were accused of "copaganda" for the first game, helping out a very sanitised version of NYPD. So the lack of police is a reaction to that

Here is my question for Jay in relation to Spiderman 2, if i start playing the PS4 version of Spiderman (2018), then the Miles Morales game (2020 - PS4 version) and then finishing the entire journey with Spiderman 2, will that be sufficient enough for me to like (enjoy) the last game or the entire series? note that i have already got the platinum for the PS5 version of both Spiderman Remastered and Miles Morales back in 2020.

I'm sad to admit I did feel a bit mixed on S3 of The Bear, where S2 is one of my favorite tv seasons ever. The wonderful 6th and 8th episode aside, this just didn't grab me as much. It felt directionless and too on the nose at times. Also, I've just about had it with those unfunny Fak Brothers. There was still a lot to enjoy, though, so I'm hoping for a more focused final season. Also, you were right about my name, Leon; Hoog is like 'road', with the 'g' being like the 'ch' in Michiel. And 'land' rhymes with taunt.

I thought Spiderman 2 was awesome, but I also never played Spiderman (2018) or Miles Morales. If I had, I'd probably have the same reaction as Jay 😂

I came to say the same − I have been playing Case of The Golden Idol over the last few weeks on mobile via Netflix. It plays very well (touch controls make a lot of sense for such a game I think), although the phone screen size was a little bit of an issue − that case where some people’s eyes are a hint certainly stretched my own eyes. Looking forward to the podcast episode on that one in a few years ;-)

I pretty much subscribe just for the monthly's, you've covered all my favourite series like Resident Evil, Silent Hill (still waiting for a Tomb Raider series recap). Just one question, I first found out about your podcast because Charles Cevil of Revolution Games shared a link to your podcast on the official Broken Sword Facebook page. Are you guys looking forward to the release of Broken Sword Reforged this month? It looks amazing IMO 😁
