We conclude our thirteenth year of podcasts by covering the all-conquering, 2023 game of the year awards-sweeping, Baldur's Gate III. Leon, Jay, Leah and Rich - along with contributions from the mighty Cane and Rinse community, attempt to do justice to - and even pick a few holes in - this cosmically well-regarded RPG. From our relationships with the characters, to our relationships with each other in co-op mode, and to our experiences with the deep and flexible gameplay systems, we endeavour to discuss as much of Larian's behemoth as possible.Music featured in this issue:1. I think Leah missed a key reason why Shadowheart is popular. Shadowheart is a sassy bitch and her antagonism to a lot of the party is pretty fun

Part of me wonders how much Rich was overreacting vs Leah being a destructive force in their joint campaign to get him so riled up. FWIW, I have always felt that Leah’s approach of taking encounters as they come is the more appropriate way to play CRPGs. And there is no way you can see “everything” in this game in a single run or even two runs. It’s probably best to accept that there are minor parts of the game you may never see, and that needs to be okay.

PS for all the mentions of Star Wars in the monthlies, surprised neither of you mentioned the lightsaber mods, unless those aren’t available for console yet.

SludgeWizard

I didn’t realize that mods were available for the console versions! This podcast (and those mods) are exactly what I needed to jump back in and see if it sticks this time. Fingers crossed!
