Cormoran Strike

I thought to myself 'didn't we just get the last monthly?' then looked and saw it was actually the 15th august, so clearly I have just lost myself in time.

Excellent! And also, whilst the forum is down and there is quite literally nowhere else on the internet to talk about computer games, I wondered if anyone fancied using this particular message as a thread for Hollow Knight: Silksong. Anyone playing? I loved the first game, finished it twice, and I do believe this is a step up in terms of challenge, although perhaps somewhat offset by the much quicker acquisition of additional moves and fast travel. I'm really loving this, some of the boss fights have been epic. I'll do my best to make this first comment spoiler free, but I think people have to click to view replies so might be ok for spoilers in subsequent posts. So far I think I've beaten 6 or 7 bosses and am around 18 hours in to the game. I've just saved a certain group in a certain area by beating "Widow" and am now just exploring maps I've already uncovered looking for secret areas before moving on with actual progression. So who's playing? It's fucking great, isn't it!

Started a replay of Hollow Knight and strongly considering it. No spoilers!

Congrats on your first McDonald’s, Leon! Careful with those apple pies, the insides get hotter than the Sun

I'll be honest, I was equally amazed and impressed you'd gone over 50 years without succumbing to the golden arches! The McPlant is my go to if I'm in there, it's alright with BBQ sauce slathered all over it 😆

Cormoran Strike

I think it’s great! But the difficulty is a sticking point for me right now.

Alex79

It's certainly tough in places. I've progressed the story to a certain point now just looking around. Currently bashing my head against the boss in Hunters March.

As a huge fan of the original, clearly, I'm finding it less fun and unbalanced in places. It feels like they're pandering to the git gud crowd too much with this one. The level design is also far less interesting and the flying enemies in general are just tedious. The game does improve as you get into Act 2 and has the best boss fight I've played in a long time.

The flying enemies are definitely a pain and I'm especially finding a lot of bosses are summoning minions during boss battles too which just adds needless randomised difficulty to the fight. The Savage Beastfly has been the worst culprit for that so far. The boss itself would be a walk in the park, but add two or three randomised enemies in to the arena and it took me probably the most tries of any boss so far. I feel like with some of the bosses they realised they were too easy on their own so just threw a load of extra enemies in there with them. I only really beat him due to a lucky roll of the dice with the minions he was spawning. But, I'll say it again, I am really, really enjoying the game so far. I think you're a fair bit further than me, Steven, I'm still in Act 1 so we'll see how it goes from here!

Alex79

The Last Judge is a dickhead. Must be on 25 tries now... I've got the boss run down to about 25 seconds, no hits, no fights, and can then get to the bosses second phase every time without getting hit once, but that second phase is ending me every time.

I'm not sure if you guys are interested, but when Exit 8 gets a release over there, definitely give it a go. I just got back from seeing it and it's easily the best film from a game and has some incredible cinematography. It captures the feel of the game amazingly and, much like the game, seems to borrow some extra elements from PT. I hope Zach Cregger approaches his Resident Evil adaptation in this way. It's doing very well in Japan, it's already been out for two weeks but every screening at my local cinema was sold out today (it was a national holiday, so that helps).

I completely forgot but I had a plan to buy Bundobust employees Cane and Rinse merch for when Jay and Leon visited. But not explain at all what the show is. " Oh the t shirt, it's a weird new uniform"

I really enjoyed hearing Leon's thoughts on Thunderbolts - it's probably a top 5 MCU movie for me. Having some actual meaningful themes behind it went along way that really hit me hard.
