I am eagerly awaiting the (hopefully coming) thoughts on Metroid prime 4 in the next monthly special. Seems to be quite a divisive one, but I love it so much I don’t really get it. Outside of stupid stuff like locking the overworld tune behind an amiibo, which is of course ridiculous.

Another cracking year of shows, thanks guys! Wow, another year done. Who'd have thought Cane and Rinse would still be going strong after fifteen years. When I first started listening, my eldest (and only, at the time) son was 4 years old. We were just starting to play games together, the Lego games, Mario, Minecraft etc. He turned 19 last month and is drinking, driving (not at the same time) and hopefully doing none of the other things I was doing his age. You've outlasted relationships, jobs, friendships - you've been one of the only constants in my life over the last 15 years, listening to the show each week has remained one of my weekly highlights. So I just wanted to say thank you, and hope you manage to go on for many more years to come!

Regarding May I Ask For One Final Thing: I also don't find it to be especially good as such, but it does satisfy that urge I often get for the protagonist to just fucking punch someone, and it satisfies it well. The comparison to Jay was of course meant to be light-hearted and I guess I sometimes perceive that same energy, though not in a literal sense of course. Wish all of you a relaxing and contentful Christmas!

the only thing wrong with digital preservation is the lack of interoperability between platforms. If I bought a film on apple tv and then another on Amazon and i was allowed to watch them both on vlc player (or another media player of my choice) even if apple and Amazon remove them or disappear forever, then the collection can be preserved properly

On the conversation on Anime preservation. “All the anime” label does a pretty good job for legacy physical releases. In fact, the film you’re discussing had a really nice physical release a few years back. They are also involved in the anime festivals in the UK

Bought Sektori before you even finished talking about it. Geometry Wars 2 is one of my favorites, as is Super Stardust, and pretty much every other game you compared it to. Sounds very, very up my alley. Thanks!

I’m just catching up on some podcasts now so I only just heard this episode today. I was the one who messaged about ordering Cane & Rinse merch from the USA. I started doing some more research on this and it appears Spreadshop UK has stopped shipping to the US due to tariffs. I’ll keep trying periodically and let y’all know if they resume at any point. Thanks anyway!

God bless the company AllTheAnime as they are putting some excellent stuff out in the UK. However, one of the main reason lots of these older niche animes are not getting physical releases or being licensed by streaming platforms on a wider level is because it's not worth the investment because of piracy. Jay himself states that he torrents rips of anime and that is a massive part of the problem. I work in the digital distrubution side of the film industry and I can tell you, there's very little money in it these days, especially for a film like Angel Egg.
