I most certainly do remember the Nintendo Power subscription bonus deal, as I'm pretty sure that's how my dad got hold of the copy of Dragon Warrior he gave me. It's not a game I ever asked him for, but what an awesome bonus to my (then) bi-monthly dose of tips, tricks, game maps, and promotions masked as editorial content.

I promise that Leah did not write my feedback that was read out on the pod. I laughed hard when she said that. Apparently her and I both had similar history with the original Dragon Quest.

I really hope you all continue with the series, but I do feel that DQ2 will likely be your biggest speedbump. The original version can be rough, especially the final boss.

Echoing the panel, I am more than ready to use Cane and Rinse as a means to go through the Dragon Quest series. I already am chipping away at DQ2 and am loving it.

Great episode, really did a lovely job introducing what a behemoth of a series Dragon Quest is and how many other RPG series stand on its shoulders. Was horrified to hear Leah did not like her time with DQ8, however. I consider it the second best in the series so i really hope she will give it a second chance now she is going to tackle the Dragon Quest games. Hopefully now she knows how the series operates she will be able to appreciate what DQ8 bought to the table in terms of good old fashioned turn based RPG goodness.

Just finished my third listen to this episode. After the first listen it convinced me to pick up a Dragon Quest game , when I looked up online where to start it recommended number 3. So I picked that up and I’m about halfway through. Looking forward to picking up the first one and listening to this episode again when I’m playing that one. Thanks for a wonderful episode guys!
