My story with Final Fantasy 5 is similar to many other people’s. I got mine on the PSone when it finally came out in America. Though it’s unfair to 5 after playing 6 and 7 I found the game to be rather forgettable. It’s not that it was bad just kind of ok. The awful loading time on the PlayStation didn’t help. Though I did like Faris back then. Now we have the Pixel Remaster which I just played about 6 months ago. As an adult I really enjoy this game. I find it admirable that this game has 2 worlds in it and on top of that it has a wonderfully done job system. I absolutely love that each character looks different in their job roles. I wonder how they fit it all into one cartridge back in the day. Nowadays I really enjoy all the characters but particularly Galuf. I found his sacrifice worked for me as an adult where it didn’t when I was young. Though I don’t think this game has the most memorable plot it shines in just about every other area. I would recommend with the caveat being that the plot is a little basic but if you can put up with that for an incredibly good job system then this game is for you. I liked it but it’s still probably a middling Final Fantasy for me.
