The Big N roped in simulation and silicon graphics specialists Paradigm to assist them with N64 launch title, Pilotwings 64. The sequel to their 1990 'amateur flight simulation' Pilotwings (itself a previous gen launch title for the SNES), Pilotwings 64 replaced Mode 7 with spectacular solid, textured polygons - but did it retain the challenging yet quirky multidisciplinary gameplay? If nothing else it certainly brought the funk. Leon and Darren talk Birdman, Meca Hawk, Gyrocopters and Jumble Hoppers - as well as the series' follow-ups and legacy.Music used in this issue:1. Leon and Darren, a nintendo game, and ham and cheese croissant I cant think of a better way to start my day apart from Boris Johnson stepping on a rake and having the rake hit him in the face and the rake is made of ants. Great pod I was 6 years old when I tried Pilot Wings 64 suffice to say I was too young to appreciate it and then my launch n64 overheated and I got a playstation. Have to revisit it one day You have inspired me to try Banjo Kazzoiie Nuts and bolts though and Leons MEchahawk impression will forever haunt my nightmares

Fond memories of this game. I was never very good at it but enjoyed listening to this episode.
