As recommended by fans of the series, we begin our Japanese organised crime odyssey at its chronological beginning - Ryū ga Gotoku 0: Chikai no Basho aka Yakuza 0. Released in 2015 and Japan and from 2017 worldwide, this is the sixth mainline entry in SEGA's long-running series and tells the origin stories of beloved characters Kiryu Kazama and Goro Majima. Leon, Charlotte, Leah, Richard and a gang of community contributors recall their wild lives ducking and diving in and around the Tokyo underworld of the late 80s.Music featured in this podcast:1. Ahh yes Yakuza. For so long I wrote this series off as GTA in Japan, my god I’ve never been so happy to be wrong. Though this is not my first Yakuza game that would be 7, as soon as I got done with that one I put money down for 0 initially thinking I would bounce off of it due to no English VA. But no, even with that I loved the game, it was literally something that consumed my every waking thought. Since I beat the game I have recommended this series to all of my friends and would recommend them to anyone looking for some fun. Be prepared for this game, and the rest of them for that matter, to go to some weird wacky places.

I just started to play this, can’t wait to listen. Can I listen without having the story spoilt?

Cane and Rinse

Not really. Though it is a prequel so if you know the story of Yakuza (Kiwami) and beyond it's not such a big deal...

I am starting from zero with no knowledge of future story beats, so I’ll have to avoid for now
